Stupid boogieman poster
Most of the hate against this film was by right-wing people, though.
Why don't you take you thread and go to /pol/ and ask them?
I don't give a shit?
It's a terrible fucking movie, beginning to end
There's plenty of apolitical reasons why it stinks.
It really is. Just watch some clips on YouTube for proof, specifically the throne room scene.
On all levels but visual, it was a turd.
watch it and decide for yourself
Holy fuck guys i keep farting and cant stop i think i have a problem
watching it right now after seeing so much of in videos and so far yeah its just shit
It was bad
The fact that you immediately attach /pol/ to this says everything that needs to be said about you
It's a boring movie and a terrible Star Wars film.
Because lefties will gladly gladly swallow shit if it's made by people they like
Also the tactics, or the complete lack of them, utilized by both sides make it clear that not only have the creators of this turd never had any sort of a military experience, they've never even watched a fucking war movie to see how an actual military behaves
It's worse than any shit. It's brain cancer. I hate this fucking "movie" so much.
not just /pol/tards
it's also unpleasable autistic star wars """"""""fans"""""""" who actually hate star wars and complain about it constantly
I honestly think it's awful. When I saw TFA in the theater I became concerned with all the references to ANH. By the end of it I was saying to myself that it was an exact replica of ANH and not in a good way. I told my brother that the next movie better not be a copy of ESB. Now I kinda wish it was.
When I saw TLJ in the theater I thought the opening was a joke short movie before the real movie started. A joke short movie by Rian to mess with all the people and all their stupid theories about who Snoke is etc. That's how bad it started and it went downhill from there. By the time they came to the Las Vegas planet, I had given up all hope. After the movie was over all I could say to my brother was "I'm so confused".The whole movie was an incoherent mess. I felt betrayed. I felt sick. I swore that I would never buy the blu-ray. I own blu-rays of all the other Star Wars movies, but this one was just not a Star Wars movie. I will NOT see IX in theaters. I will download it when a good copy comes out but Star Wars is probably dead.
sound was decent too but ya its shit
they tried to subvert expectations but instead rewrote characters to be completely retarded
anyone have the TLJ and space balls comparison?
You want to know how bad this movie was? Other than Snoke being dead, you could totally erase this movie from canon and it would't change a single thing. This entire movie hasn't moved the story an inch.
Umm the casino planet had to spend some time recapturing the 20 or so animals that were briefly freed
Think of the war profiteers and how much they suffered. It matters.
Rian johnson confirmed hack
The Last Jedi is fine. There are some delusional people on here that insist the movie's full of plot holes or that it's "incompetent." It's a very straight forward movie.
Yea pretty bad dude. Like a hard 6
>Other than Snoke being dead, you could totally erase this movie from canon and it would't change a single thing. This entire movie hasn't moved the story an inch.
Yeah, Luke Skywalker dying definitely wasn't important. Totally skippable.
based user thanks
Always remember that all women are whores
>Straigt forward movie
As straight as a row of Tie Fighters.
Face it, that movie is garbage and we know even less on the protagonists than we knew at the end of TFA. Give a off screen death to Snoke, similar to Ackbar and the whole movie could be erased without impacting the story.
Luke's story is boring and doesn't make any sense.
Snoke, the knights of ren, all the mystery from the previous movie, they forgot everything.
The jokes are marvel tier, sometimes even worse.
youtube.com
Lmfao wow
That doesn't make it good you absolute retard
What I found unforgiveable is Luke appearing on Krait, pulling is blue lighsaber, which was destroyed a few scene before. At that moment, I knew he was a hologram or something like that. Why not making his lightsaber green and keep the illusion until the very end?
>Luke Skywalker dying definitely wasn't important. Totally skippable.
He died like a fart on a windy day. Yeah, it was totally skippeable.
Yeah, it’s THAT bad.
It's legit the best overall movie since Empire
ROTS has higher highs though
Revenge of the Sith, The Last Jedi and Empire Strikes Back are the best star wars films and it isn't really even debatable.
So to answer your question, never listen to anyone on here when this board is facebook/ twitter/ tumblrina tier
>Revenge of the Sith and Empire Strikes Back
yes, I also think that those are the best, but The Last Jedi?
everyone pointed out everything that's bad about this movie, so please tell me what was so good about it to be "the best overall movie since Empire"
Watch out everyone, here comes the "manbaby" name calling...
Listen you clearly didn't watch it in theaters or don't have a good setup. The eye test says it's very good. You either watch films and can detect good directing or you can't.
Star wars overall is a mediocre at best franchise. TLJ was leaps and bounds better than rogue one and tfa. And was better than most other star wars movies it turns out.
>The Last Jedi
>top 3
The first 15 minutes alone make it unwatchable.
It was actually bad.
fpbp, between that and the Rose's sister segment at the beginning, I knew it was gonna be a disaster.
>you
>NPC
everytime
There were good ideas hidden under an absolute mountain of drek
Every subplot except Rey and Luke's was trash, and even then Luke's character motivation was iffy and Rey's "training" was laughable.
Star Wars dorks are shit people, when will you children stop crying
>WAAAH some people didn't like my favorite space movie
Fucking pathetic, movie was absolute utter shite, get the fuck over it
Tranny
>implyng star wars fans like TLJ
Lurk moar newfag
Rian Johnson is alpha as fuck. Let me explain why.
-He told JJ to go fuck himself and basically disregarded everything he tried to setup in the soft reboot
-He edits his own movies
-He shitposts on twitter and makes people mad all across the internet
-He made a good star wars movie in a mediocre at best franchise
-He isn't afraid of being disliked, in fact he knows something would be wrong if he wasn't since nothing of value is ever universally loved.
-He watched the prequels during preproduction and writing of The Last Jedi
-He opens his mouth only when he wants to unlike Daisy Ridley
-His movie has made people cry for almost 9 months now
-He has people talking about him every day crying their eyes out shouting insults
-He mentally fucked with Mark Hamill a la Stanley Kubrick
-He went to the same film school as George Lucas after reading his book
-He will tell everyone alive to fuck off if they don't like that he makes the movie he wants to make
-He killed Star Wars for normies because he didn't make the same damn flick they wanted over and over again
it was bad but better than tfa
I didn't say it was good, "you absolute retard." I said it was fine.
Just admit you weren't thinking and important stuff actually does happen. Luke Skywalker dying is important to overall franchise plot. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it's unimportant or skippable.
It was average, and it has nothing anti-pol in it, so why would they be mad?
>random star wars instagram page is defining proof that TLJ is well liked
Yikes
>why would they be mad
They have been assblasted for over a year because they are the same as fat crying women on twitter
This. The Last Jedi didn't match up with the movie they came up with in their own heads and they've been sperging out over it for over 2 years.
>random star wars instagram page
>the one and only official star wars website
Pick one, you fail again
Be real, most of the Star Wars movies are average. Two of the prequels are down right awful.
>disney wars
>star wars fans
Now i know youre a retard
Isn't it really amusing how star wars fans are going to be eternally roasted by the prequels and the last jedi because they prefer movies with death stars
>my headcanon
Yikes, i can tell you're a geeks and gamer tier capeshitter
You've gone back to tribalism in vs out groups
how do i know they didn't change the poll to make it look better?
Not true.
I know shit about politics and thought this movie was worse than the average SW movie. Not the worst thing ever but I wouldn't watch it again. I can see why fans were pissed when they disliked it and were called names for it. You're just trying to shove politics into everything
Everytime you take a look at it or check out the officially licensed background material meant to answer questions not answered by the movie, new problems crop up. Here's 26 illogical things in the first 12 minutes alone.
Listen you're biased and you're going to deny anything you don't want to accept, it's tiring at this point. Look what tfa and rogue one scored, almost nothing. Accept defeat and stop being a memer.
Meanwhile all star wars related everything is dying why arent all these fans buying star wars merch if its so well loved?
I don't think so. I am pretty sure the hate for this movie was across the political spectrum. I don't know how a person's politics would even come into play regarding this shit movie.
Holy fucking shit are you actually this braindead to cite some basedboy youtube video about cinemasins
Fucking kys you are all absolute idiots when it comes to movies
Mouthbreathing drones and sheep
>biggest 2nd weekend drop in cinema history
>lowest rated star wars by viewers
>film directly after bombs
TLJ was just sooooo popular man lmao
RotJ scenes with Luke > ESB > ANH = RotS > RotJ without Luke > TPM > RO > TFA > AotC > TLJ
Do you have an original thought in your head? Kids buy videogames now a days bing bing wahoos and don't give a shit about physical toys 9/10 times.
You're argument is the argument of people who like marvel movies and buy their plastic toys and dislike how the last jedi triggered them and wasn't like their marvel movies
>biggest 2nd weekend drop in cinema history
That's because it had one of the highest ever 1st weeks
It was the highest grossing movie of 2017 what a failure amiright? Fucking off yourself already
Episodes I, IV, V, VI, VII and VIII are all the highest grossing films of their years
Why did they take everything that JJ Abrams set up in TFA and just kind of dump it instead of providing a satisfying or interesting explanation?
The whole of TFA set up Rey's parents being important. Why is she so good at light sabers and piloting? Then they just dismiss it in the most unsatisfying way.
Who the hell is Snoke? He's seems older and more powerful than the emperor. Where did this dude come from? Oh well, no explanation, now he's dead.
How did Moz Kano get Luke's lightsaber. Oh well, Luke just throws his FATHERS LIGHTSABER. Given to him by OBI WON KENOBI over his shoulder for a cheap throw away gag. FUCKING DISGUSTING! Then he calls the lightsaber a LASER SWORD.
Why did Luke want to Kill Kylo Ren in his sleep just because he was an adolescent with dark thoughts. Luke was willing to SACRIFICE himself because he believed he could redeem his father. But he's willing to murder his nephew in his sleep because he saw a hint of darkness in him? WHAT?
There's no lightsaber battle in the whole movie.
Rose/Finn is the worse plot line imaginable.
Why didn't Holo just tell everyone her plan.
Fucking Merry Poppins flying thru space WHAT?
TLJ DESTROYED the Star Wars franchise. It RAPED my childhood. FUCK SJW'S AND BASEDBOYS KEKS. FUCK DISNEY REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Reddit ranking
Except action figure sales were up 10% in 2018. Lurk moar you dont know shit
It is a movie where the good guys being chased throughout - but it ridicules the main threat in the first 5 minutes, so there is no impact.
It lets 98% of the good guys die - but completely fails to get the audience invested in that so most people don't even notice it at first.
It has a heartwarming anti animal abuse message when they free imprisoned race horses - but they end the movie showing the child slaves that were with them in the stables where they were abandoned by the heros.
What they mostly subverted was my expectation for a hint of quality.
Wow reddit has really good taste wtf
Struck a nerve? I had this in my feed today, put it on in the background and found he even missed a few. For example:
>In TFA, First Order Star Destroyers come with ventral cannons that launch heat-seeking missiles and are reliable to take down TIEs
>In TLJ, there are at least 3 Star Destroyers present, of which 2 could fire their ventral cannons to shoot down Poe (one of them is the same one whose cannons were destroyed by Poe and Finn in TFA)
>They just don't
Nobody cares about that you fucking ingrate, star wars sells clothes and now gonna sell for theme parks more than anything with action figures
boys specifically play vidya if they made more star wars games and actually developed vidya star wars instead of battlefront they would be making even more cash
>good taste
>tfa better than tlj
>rogue one better than attack of the clones
All of my keks pleb
>TLJ conservatively (at its absolute lowest) estimated to be making 1.9 bil before release
>makes 1.3 bil
>losing 700mill+ isnt a negative
>retarded shill doesnt know that theaters keep a large chunk of the BO
>bombs so hard in china compared to TFA (pic related) they remove the title stat wars from Solo
Never get into business
Autismbucks plotfag
>>rogue one better than attack of the clones
That's the only one I take issue with.
>>TLJ conservatively (at its absolute lowest) estimated to be making 1.9 bil before release
No lmao
stop wasting your time arguing about the highest grossing movie of 2017
you're a fucking idiot who doesn't know the middle entry always grosses the least and did in the ot and prequels
IX will gross over VIII
I>III>II
IV>VI>V
VII>IX>VIII
You should take issue to both because they are both indicative of an NPC that doesn't into film.
It's actually part of Star Wars culture to hate it. It's a mix of sci-fi and fantasy and the fanbase is just like that.
It was mediocre, the special effects were nice, some things like the driver/girl character arcs/interaction had alot of potential but were ultimately mishandled, alot of the main plot felt like it should be a B plot and it was kinda uneccessary in the first place, eh.
>you didn't even try to resist the dark side
>lol it doesn't matter at all you're a perfect woman so whatever let's just drop what should be a major and concerning plot thread
The writers of star wars fundamentally don't understand star wars.
TLJ is worse than TFA in every way. But I can see that the cosmic reset done by TFA could've hit someone worse than TLJ digging the grave deeper by simply treading water plotwise and eviscerating beloved characters.
It was actually bad
>Some shots aren't possible so the movie is shit
Unironically just turn your brain off
Why don't you watch it and find out?
>TLJ is worse than TFA in every way
If you have absolutely no taste in the medium of film and I mean that.
Nah Rian was actually showing that Rey did go to the dark somewhat briefly and the entire point of the movie was to show Kylo going to the light on multiple occasions throughout the film as well.
it wasn't great but it's still better than all of the prequels
That's wrong. Do you have any friends that aren't hardcore lefty? My group's a mix and only one dude thought this movie was good.
If I had to sum this movie up in one word, it would be "Cowardly"
It tries to act like it subverts or does "big" things, but it only hint at them without following through
If the movie had any balls it would have had Kylo and Rey fight, with Rey tapping into the dark side while Kylo is trying to do something good.
Instead it just hints at Rey being bad. It just hints at them teaming up. It just hints at things happening, but literally nothing does. Nothing has changed.
Cowardice.
TFA is bad for setting up a useless story with lame characters. the only good thing about tlj was doing away with story, character, and dialogue altogether.
The movie relies heavily on visual storytelling
>for example, you're supposed to notice Luke's hut's door is made of his XWing's wing
>his backpack is made from remains of his flysuit
>Rey stole the books and stored them in the Falcon
>All those (superfluous, because he's young-ish again and using the wrong saber) clues to Luke not actually being on Crait
but then it isn't very diligent in that and uses the worst takes out of the throne room fight scene and has numerous errors in the final scene (chiefly among them the salt layer returning inbetween shots and Kylo's shuttle vanishing)
So, in terms of cinematography, it's shit in execution as well.
The kino ranking
Darth Maul final sequence>Obi wan vs Anakin>Opera scene>Episode V>Episode III>Throne room in VI>Ep. VIII>Ep. IV>Rogue One hallway scene> Episode I>Episode II>Non throne room scenes in VI> Episode VII> Rogue One besides hallway> Solo
>TFA is bad for setting up a useless story with lame characters.
It was actually very effective in doing just that.
>the only good thing about tlj was doing away with story, character, and dialogue altogether.
Should've done away with the movie itself and saved me 10 bucks.
The throne room scene is done well everyone is being autistic as fuck about it. you wanna be autistic you can see the unlit saber stick twice in empire strikes back
Rey never faces consequences
wasnt terrible, the visuals were pretty great, some of the acting was lackluster, could have done without some of the scenes but overall not a horrible movie
I don't care for Star Wars one way or the other. It was just bad, the editing, story structure, pacing, characters, etc. The only good thing was that it looked pretty.
For what? did luke face consequences for going into the dark cave? did luke face consequences for using the dark side to beat his father in the duel?
In all seriousness making her parents nobodies while having her being crushed by that gave her more character than she had
why not go the extra mile and make himself turn up looking like episode 6 luke? younger, in his black outfit with the green saber. shit woulda looked good and made kylo shit himself
counter any point the video made
The editing is good. You're a cherrypicking retard. the editing goes well with the staging and the score very well, better than tfa.
I thought it was better than TFA. It's the normalgroids who bought into the TFA hype who were really mad about it.
It's pretty fucking dumb
It will age a lot better than TFA. It's got a comfy atmosphere and nice visuals, saw part of the TFA on tv the other day with my mum and that movie is just uncomfortable to watch with other people. TLJ is an enjoyable family movie.
Not gonna watch any cancer youtube zoomer videos of people who think the dark knight movies are great and whom like marvel movies as well like infinity war
Are you retarded? You don't need to cherrypick to point out flaws in the movie since there's something every few minutes.
Go to bed Rian.
The jokes, illogical/stupid plans, and physics breaking (in universe) killed it the most. Plot twists were fine.
>It's the normalgroids who bought into the TFA hype who were really mad about it.
You couldn't be more right and it was better than TFA
>It's got a comfy atmosphere and nice visuals, saw part of the TFA on tv the other day with my mum and that movie is just uncomfortable to watch with other people
Exactly it is actually comfy and visually nice and i liked the storyline with respects to luke kylo and rey desu
So you can't counter because you know the movie is garbage and the youtub faggot is right.
Not really.
This movie was so bad that most star wars fans stopped consuming star wars media
I cant enjoy old star wars like i did either
No lad you're actually retarded because there's many scenes with 10/10 editing, flow, atmosphere, visuals, script, acting, score
>you wanna be autistic you can see the unlit saber stick twice in empire strikes back
They forgot to add in an effect in a 40 years old movie in an otherwise tense and engaging fight scene. The crab people brawl in the red room links bad take with bad idea
>overcranked shot of everyone missing their cue ramping up to normal speed
>one kick, three guys play hit
>guy about to decapitate Rey, Daisy misses her cue, he changes the trajectory
>on the other side, Driver hammers his sword into the ground too early or the guy he's supposed to parry comes late
>naginata guy throws away his weapon to run into Kylo's blade
>electro-whip guy coils himself up in his own weapon so Rey can run him through as well
>Rey not turning of the blade caught by the whip in the first place
>knife guy's weapon is edited out in the blink of an eye instead of vanishing between shots, meaning they caught that late and half-assedly tried to correct it
>Rey in a headlock, drops her saber, cut shows her magically out of the headlock, catching the saber, cutting her opponent's shins and the tabard he's wearing, cut, the tabard is whole again, now he gets sliced across the neck and drops out of frame
No I'm not going to waste my time watching any more videos that you or any other plebs post on this capeshit board as your arguments.
I honestly can't tell if you're actually retarded or if you're just pretending, Rian.
I'm a lefty and I fucking hated this film and still can't believe it was genuinely made. An accurate description of this film sounds like neurotic hyperbole by an obsessed fan who is convinced that, without George, the franchise will indefinitely fall apart.
I also hate trannies, I don't like feminists either but TERFs are right in that a transgender retard has no idea what being a woman is and the entire concept of it is sexist
You're literally breaking down the movie so much it takes more time to read all that shit you posted that to naturally actually react to what you're seeing in real time. It's a fine fight and better than anything disney has done in solo or rogue one or tfa.
>did luke face consequences for going into the dark cave?
He brought weapons, even when yoda said not to. The cave showed him a duel with Vader and himself inside the helmet. Cue Luke disobeying Yoda again, breaking off his training and immediately getting his shit pushed in and hand amputated by Darth Dad.
Also, he came close to falling to the Dark Side again in RotJ. So yeah. Consequences.
Russian bots meddled and interfered with the boxoffice
Because you can't disprove any of the points made.
No no no. That doesn't help. You see, if we can easily push star wars hate into one of the political sides, then the other side will be forced to like it. We like libs so it must be the alt-right that hates the film
Disappearing knives are well done?
It's so dense... every frame a, dare I say it, painting...
If you didn't even catch at least 2 of those with the naked eye, you didn't pay attention. The fact that the initial shot is overcranked only draws attention to the fight choreography (and the viewers get the impression that this is exactly what it's supposed to alert them to), which was lauded as being impeccable and "Kurosawa in style" or something. Which it is not.
Okay if those are you consequences then Reys consequences were getting played by Kylo who killed Snoke and then wanted her to turn
And Luke having to sacrifice himself in a manner similar to obi wan to save Rey (luke) and co in the end.
Same thing. I do wish rey would get her arm lopped off or something though. Keep up with the tradition.
It would actually be a twist if kylo dismembered her anakin style while finding out she was his sister or something and it completely crushing his soul. Then give rey some mechanical legs.
The scenes really well done when you don't soely look at one fraction of a 3 seconds in a cropped soundless webm and instead play the entire scene with maximum sound on a 4k television
>Okay if those are you consequences then Reys consequences were getting played by Kylo who killed Snoke and then wanted her to turn
>And Luke having to sacrifice himself in a manner similar to obi wan to save Rey (luke) and co in the end.
>Same thing.
Other people dying and making decisions for Rey is Rey facing consequences? She comes out of it all with a scratch on her shoulder and the power to lift a mountainside.
Lad it's all about the tone
You can pick apart the prequel choreography and know they are doing the stunts and going left now and right now and you can tell it's choreographied but its still done well. It's a fucking space fantasy movie with laser swords.
It was the best movie disney made by miles and star wars was always mediocre besides empire and rots.
>"your momma"
I see what you did there
>The scenes really well done when you don't soely look at one fraction of a 3 seconds in a cropped soundless webm and instead play the entire scene with maximum sound on a 4k television
Friendo, I sat in the cinema with all that, the guys on screen were three times as tall as actual people, and I noticed the thing about the electro whip and Kylo hammering his sword into the ground for no reason right away. That's a big knife, by the way, and it's just gone from existence when it goes behind Rey's back. The guard still makes the backstab motion though, and Rey cries out in pain. Someone must've caught it on first view.
I'm just tired that people talk about how great TLJ is for "deconstructing star wars".
Because it has been done before and better too.
If i recall kylos sword in the ground gets hit by one of the guards, he could have premeditatedly slammed it there for the future block
Rian likes those games. He was given the task of making a sequel to the force awakens though and what he did subverted my expectations, he made a good film. And it pissed off star wars plebs, win win desu.
The prequel choreography comes out as intended. Sure, they're going for each other's blades instead of any vital parts, but they do enact a deadly ballet without a flaw in their choreography. The praetorian guards missed their cues numerour times, though. So now it looks like they aren't even trying to defend themselves from the Jedi knights in the room and instead put up a show and enjoy being slaughtered. You see, the difference is people flynning to give the illusion of a duel without actually going for deadly blows, and people waving sticks around to shatter it.
Hell even just common sense would make someone without military experience go "that's fucking retarded"
And what was he blocking, the guard could've gone for his head instead, because it was completely unguarded as the lightsaber was pointing downwards into the ground. The guard was definitely not going for Kylo's feet and obviously aimed for the weapon.
The problem is that the guard changes the trajectory of his strike midway and instead of going for Kylo’s head he goes for his sword.
Your consequences are the chain of events that happen afterwards, Rey has her lightsaber broken and fails utlimately plus is betrayed by Kylo or fooled how ever you want to put it, she was naive and got her lightsaber broken, then her new mentor had to take it upon himself to sacrifice himself, so how she has to deal with his death and build a new lightsaber/ take on an apprentice or luke somehow isn't dead but in a netherforce world
both. it's a bad movie and people were right to criticize it, but /pol/tards focused on all the shit that either wasn't a problem or was mostly unimportant
KOTOR2 is the best thing ever done with the star wars universe. Shame obsidian got rushed to make it.
While I'm not going to defend TLJ's fight scenes, is there any movie/show that ever does group fighting correctly?
TLJ was a mixture of the OT and the PT perhaps that's why it comes off as different. It is trying to be ballet styled but as you say you can see when the hits are staged often even if it looks good, so it's moreso a messy version mixed with the prequels
Its empire strikes back mixed with the prequels, both heavy and somewhat staged
Disney allowed as scene showing Luke visiting his nephew in the middle of the night with molestation overtones. This is not actually Luke but someone Mark Hamill calls "Jake"
It's actually maximum pottery and giving Luke some character and an arc beyond the traditional heroes journey and giving him conflict similar to his father anakin but okay
it's "jake" skywalker hur meme because muh actor said so not the writer director
>doing something fundamentally against everything the character is about is an arc and therefor good
You're worse than people who say Prometheus is good simply because it has religious subtext
straightforwardly dumb, for dumb people.
>lightsaber gets destroyed
>she rebuilds it anyways in the next episode
>her “mentor” (!!!) dies
>by his own decision, he might have not even known that Rey was there
>helps saving everyone regardless
Wow, such consequences she’s got over there!
>writer director
>implying Rian Johnson can write or direct
Considering that Kylo goes on to shot up luke's jedi school, shouldn't he have just killed the little shit right there before the problems start?
>>doing something fundamentally against everything the character is about is an arc and therefor good
Blah blah all hot noise. Fact is this Luke showed a moment of pure weakness and wrong doing and realized it immediately afterwards if you see the damn scene he's almost crying and shit and says he felt shame and failed Kylo.
The pottery is that he tried to prevent his visions like anakin and caused them, had he not acted as he did maybe things would have went differently
I couldn't tell you, but it was certainly not done correctly here. I would imagine the Asians have it down.
>It is trying to be ballet styled but as you say you can see when the hits are staged often even if it looks good, so it's moreso a messy version mixed with the prequels
Mate, that makes no sense. The prequels look like a ballet because they're rehearsed to a T to seem like a pretend duel and you don't really notice the flaws until you go through the scenes with a fine comb, frame by frame. The chroeography, even if they are obviosly pretend-fencing, shows these people worked hard to land every move.
Now in TLJ, you have a choregraphy where people miss their cues, which makes it a very obvious, under-rehearsed choreography, not a meticulously planned out pretend-fight. Saying they're mixing OT and PT makes no sense here. OT is less flashy (though both Luke and Vader do pirouettes and flourishes in the carbonite chamber) but still an obviously rehearsed performance working as intended. Combining choreography with "actually hitting your opponent with unrehearsed moves" makes it not a choreography.
Brick, Looper and TLJ are better than any Sony, Marvel or DC blockbuster has been for a decade lol all written and directed by him. And brick was edited written and directed by him.
It was great. Ignore anyone who doesn't like it because they are likely just a seething right wing incel
The throne room scene in TLJ was meant for the guards to get killed, i still think its a visually nice scene even though i recognize theres a knife disappearing at some point, the rest of it i enjoy
Luke overcame his father's legacy and failures. That's the point of ROTJ. Making him go through a similar arc like Anakin after his first arc is finished is just dumb if that first arc was there to show you he wasn't like him.
The movie is objectively bad with almost zero redeeming qualities other than visuals and some acting
Fuck Trump and fuck The Last Jedi. On the Day of the Rope /pol/ and tumblr will rot in hell together.
That's why he ignited his lightsaber he saw the murders beforehand but he couldn't do it and said he was wrong and caused it to happen anyways.
But this is 30-40 years later and Kylo was his apprentice who turned evil. And luke was exiled in the previous movie for years because of shame.
>The throne room scene in TLJ was meant for the guards to get killed
The script said that would happen, of course.
But do you think the guards, the characters the people in the red suits were playing, were intending to get killed as well? Because that's how it comes off in the finished product. It shatters the illusion, something the movie does every five minutes, starting with "I've got a message about his mother".
>Rian likes those games.
I seriously doubt he played kotor
Yeah It'sgoofytime luke actually did nothing wrong. If you wake up to your drunken hillbilly uncle trying to put something long and hot in you, you wouldn't react by burning down the next daycare center if you were a good guy.
Ironically the answer to both questions is yes.
He's said he has played and liked kotor a lot though bro. Rian liked the prequels too. He's not some evil guy. Give him his trilogy and just relish the butthurt.
>kotor
No wonder where he got his “Jedi bad” idea from.
>Snow Troopers
>AT-AT Walkers
>Planet looks like Hoth
>It's salt sweaty :^)
>But this is 30-40 years later and Kylo was his apprentice who turned evil.
And so it was the right thign for Luke to shishkebap Kylo? Does that soudn like Luke "I cannot fight my own father" Skywalker? The last time Luke lost control, everything was on the line. His friends were being slaughtered in space, he was fighting for his father's soul and his own, and old evil geezer was egging him on, and then Vader threatens his newfound sister as well. That's the amount of psychological stress it took for Luke to snap. Here? The New Republic has been at the helm for three decades. There is no imminent threat. There's no war going on. It's at night, at a remote location, at a Jedi temple with 13 people living there. Luke has a premonition, mumbles something about a moment of pure instinct, but we see him calmly take the saber of his belt and turning it on. Kylo pulling the saber to himself and parrying (actually attacking, but he didn't know that) Luke, that's instinct. What Luke is doing is premeditated. He's not reacting to stuff that isn't really there, he has a vision, assesses it, considers the possibilities (actually just the one) and decides to go to town on his nephew, until he doesn't.
>And luke was exiled in the previous movie for years because of shame.
That wasn't confirmed in TFA, no-one knew why he left. Han could've been speculating since nobody knew where and why he'd gone. TLJ set his reason to leave in stone, not TFA.

The fact that you think what are essentially continuity errors has anything to do with cinematography shows that you know nothing about film. Often times the editor has to make the decision to pick a more emotional, or just generally better take, even though it breaks continuity, because anyone who actually understands film realizes that fucking continuity errors don't have much bearing on the film's quality.
The fact that the film contains some visual easter eggs doesn't mean the film relies on visual storytelling, either, this is another example of you autistically looking at small details as evidence that the film is shit.
Even if the film was mostly visual storytelling, that wouldn't suddenly make continuity errors worth discussing.
The worst part about this, besides the obvious, is that I had slogged through 2 hours of shit to get to this point, and there was still half an hour left.
A more accurate statement is that this film was hated for a variety of reasons across the political spectrum, but authoritarian leftists made it a litmus test for ideological purity, with your opinion on the film being a test of your morality a nd goodthink
Ebert would have loved The Last Jedi and Ebert gave 3.5/4 stars to The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith
>When a work of parody is itself parodied by the series it was parodying
>and Ebert gave 3.5/4 stars to The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith
That indicates to me that he absolutely wouldn't have liked TLJ.
Fag even if you're just fishing for (you)s stop
>everyone who hated it must be right-wing
That's it, baby boy. Keep pushing everyone to the right, sweetie.

The guards' faces are completely obscured and they are silent as the grave, eliminating them from the equation, so what you're saying is all the other takes were completely unusable because Ridley and Driver pulled the dumbest faces in them.
>TERFs are right
Opinion invalidated, literally an entire group of women butthurt about potentially having their victimhood complex appropriated
It nullified the OT. Yes it was as bad as we say it was.
Asteroids with hyperdrives would of been the norm for millennia. Hard to believe it took so many different species of sentient beings 4000 years to learn how to throw a rock at hyperspatial speeds towards a target of great value.
The death stars were essentially retconned by this single scene. No reason for death stars means the OT had no reason for existing.
Disney murdered star wars and made the prequels look like kino with this writing room decision.
RIP star wars you will be missed.
Yes but also that's not a defense of her
>giving Luke some character arc
It's a very stupid arc.
1. Luke is depressed because whatever, let me pull some shit out of my ass the audience is retarded and won't care.
2. Luke hates "The Jedi" and wants them to "end." Only the stupids find this deep, because they don't realize they're projecting their own definition of the term "Jedi" rather than noticing how the movie fails to portray Luke's actual definition of it.
3. Luke's stone cold heart is unmoved by the perfect Rey of hope, even when she physically kicks his ass.
4. Luke's heart is warmed when fucking ghost Yoda shows up and hits the Jedi Tree with a bolt of lightning and burns some books (that Luke tl;dr haha).
5. Luke's arc is signaled complete when he... fucks with Kylo Ren via force projection ostensibly so the resistance can escape out the back door of the base that was previously established to not have a back door and would have been surrounded by the first order anyway and how did they know Rey would even be there with the Millennium Falcon and why didn't they just hyperspace track it again anyway.
6. Dies for no reason.
Sorry, if you think that arc is anything but complete trash, even if it wasn't Luke Skywalker, you are a literal retard.
>SERF and TERF bullshit
Well this thread was already garbage...
You have it backwards. The hating was from everyone. The shilling was almost exclusively from liberal people. I say this as someone who is liberal by Toronto standards.
Try the scene with finn and rose on the ship with that stormtrooper chick. After the explosion compared where they were beforehand. That's not a small cherrypick
>lukes hand gets chopped off sending it and his lightsaber into an endless pit
>he rebuilds the lightsaber and gets a new hand next episode
>his mentor dies
>by his own decision, but he knew luke was there so its ok this time ex dee
>helps saving everyone regardless
I dont even like TLJ/TFA but shit nigga get better arguments
I mean I dont like to talk about TERFs but if this nigga is going to pretend like they have any points at all I feel compelled to respond to his bait
>3. Luke's stone cold heart is unmoved by the perfect Rey of hope, even when she physically kicks his ass.
Don't forget he parries and evades her after she initiated the fight by attacking him from behind, disarming her and dropping both his and her weapon, standing down, before she, our supposed heroine, ignites his old lightsaber right underneath his chin, so he has no choice but to let himself drop onto the stairs behind him. If he didn't have the Force to catch himself there, he wuld've had the choice to get his face sliced off or his hip shattered.
it rhymes like pottery
It's actually bad. It takes everything good about Star Wars and tells it to fuck off.
You really think the Last Jedi is as good as Revenge of the Sith?
because the themes of the film are dishonesty and cowardice. the founding principles of modern liberalism
They picked the takes of the fight that looked the best, and yes, where they thought the two actors performances were also best.
>>lukes hand gets chopped off sending it and his lightsaber into an endless pit
That's indeed a consequence for his rashness
>>he rebuilds the lightsaber and gets a new hand next episode
The hand was back by virtue of a prosthetic by the end of the film, it's still a permanent reminder for his failure, coming back in ROTJ.
>>his mentor dies
>>by his own decision, but he knew luke was there so its ok this time ex dee
Obi-Wan sacrificed himself to let Luke escape as he would've stayed behind to attack Vader while everyone else was scrambling for the Falcon. Also, he actually was his mentor for the short time they had together. Luke never trains Rey, Rey trains Rey and Luke tells her why she should stop and leave him.
>>helps saving everyone regardless
No, because of all that. Luke is not disheartened in his struggle, but needs the aid of his friends as he isn't all-powerful. Han, Leia, Chewie and the droids all have their own skillset and complete each other.
>RotS is as good as Empire
Trouble is, those takes look terrible and contain choreography being fumbled through.
I was in the military when this came out and I couldn't even fathom the decisions made in this movie
Then i realized
This is the future of military when trannies and women are controlling positions of power
You can never make a good decision when your entire existence revolves around your "gender"
If you look at tlj as a warning sign then it's an 11/10
RotS is top 3 pretty easily.
To me, most of them are average movies with a few being slightly better or worse. I'm not really a Star Wars fan, but I find the movies entertaining enough and I really don't understand how people can rate one of them 10/10 and another 0/10 when it's pretty much all the same shit.
Show me the fuck ups then.
>Obi-Wan sacrificed himself to let Luke escape as he would've stayed behind to attack Vader while everyone else was scrambling for the Falcon.
Thats not true though. Obi-wan dying and obi-wan continuing to fight had absolutely no difference, Obi-wan chose to die at that point specifically to motivate luke to want to kill vader
I noticed a few of these in theater too
>her "acting"
How do these people get these jobs in the first place?
It intentionally scuttled every story thread and set-up created by the previous movie, leaving the overall trilogy with nothing. It can only be enjoyable in a vacuum, and even then it has bad writing with the shuttle's detour, the chain of command woes, Luke's mischaracterization, and Snoke being nothing.
I know at least thirty people who don't like Trump and hate this movie
I remember when the script leaks came out because some caption guy put them online. Probably one of the best leaks out there. You knew it was either some guy autistically wrote a whole script or it was real just by the sheer volume. And then trailer came out with lines from it so you knew it was true.
The moment I read the “your momma” line I knew I wasn’t going to watch this shit. I’ve seen every other Star Wars movie but I haven’t yet had the stomach to watch TLJ. Read the screenplay though.
TERFs are the only feminists worth paying attention to since they're the only ones that follow feminism through to its logical end point.
>I remember when the script leaks came out because some caption guy put them online.
This was one of the best days on Yea Forums I can remember that doesn't involve Baneposting
Everyone was absolutely convinced that it had to be a fake because nothing made any sense and it read like a 5 year old wrote it
You should get that looked at user.
>Anything as good as the OT
Bitch please.
TLJ could have been KINO if Rey wasn't some dumb Mary Sue character. The actress also sucks bad.
It was bad. Rian was so concerned with themes that he completely disregarded the plot.
Still better acting than episode i and II
Sounds admirable desu, fuck plot
in your opinion, sure
You’re fucking retarded if you think that Daisy is a better actor than Hayden.
>I cant enjoy old star wars
You just proved his point dummy
Notice how i didnt say Episode III because the entire movie worked
wasn't haydens fault he was given terrible dialogue in most of Episode II, Daisy did better than him in VIII
What point, that he's a real fan while people who like every piece of media isn't?
But if you force the themes so much that they create holes in logic it's bad.
Besides Rian's themes are crap. Let the past die, money bad and other stuff.
how can you understand the themes of a story that doesn't make sense?
Cause characters actually spell them out?
