>Work 8 months on EP for label I adore. >It's done. >Gave it my all. >Send to friends, other musicians/producers. >Positive feedback all around. >Send it in to label via secret soundcloud links. >They only listened to 2 out of 5 tracks. >Didn't download any. >Never contacted me.
don't give up user. keep doing what you want for yourself, no matter how many nos you get
Ayden Ortiz

Isaac Johnson
Its rough out there bro. Try putting the project out and shilling to get some unbiased feedback. Its hard showing stuff to friends because everyones going to tell you its great. The label probably has 100 people just like you sending them EPs every week. Just keep working hard and find another way to get your work out there. If its truly good, and you put enough effort into promoting it, you can build a following. Going to a label with a product + a following is more likely to get you signed. Good luck

How does one do this. I legit have no idea what to do. Social media seems like a trap for ad money that won’t do any actual help
Christopher Young
i'm a musician with a modest following (about 30k spotify listeners) and had almost an identical experience last year. it fucking sucks bro. all you can do is keep at it and learn from the experience
Cameron Hall
no, I'M TRANS!!
Matthew Lee
Post some songs from the EP, we'll be the judge.
Brandon Diaz
Shill it here.
Asher Jones
How did you shill your shit to get those numbers?
Benjamin Fisher
By going outside the house and networking in person with other musicians, producers, venues, fans (of your music or any other local band’s), and pretty much anybody else with any pull or personality. Be charismatic. Make friends (and enemies). This is how most people end up getting their start, and if you have poor social skills, that is the #1 thing you should work on as an aspiring professional musician.
Very few people make livable career off of their music by being shy and awkward and isolated and sending in recordings to record labels from their bedroom that nobody has ever heard before. Yeah it does happen, but these people make up only a tiny fraction of the already tiny percentage of musicians who are able to make a living off music, and they almost always have some personal asset or gimmick that can be easily exploited for marketing.
Brody Lewis
why does it seem like shy indie girl musicians who write cutesy songs on tiktok are getting all the attention these days
Anthony Rodriguez
this it's a blackpill, but if you're still trying to make it just keep making shit quickly instead of putting your heart into one project
Brandon Cook
How do you write lyrics that you don't cringe to?
Brayden Turner
boo fuckin hoo
Gavin Sanders
fuck labels, self-release and promote it on social media
John Wright
>promote it on social media how? what can you do besides send out a tweet and instagram posts to 0 followers?
Jordan Ross
I did that for a while and all it got me was 60 listens. Guess I should start again but now I have less time than before. This shit is hard
Jayden Sullivan
Listen, I'm on the same boat, specially within my music genre and my lyrics/political ideas that conflict greatly with the masses (We are not RAC, but we just about to self release an entire release on the unibomber). With that being said; I am very disconnected from the scene and my drummer (we are two piece hardcore punk band) just moved recently to my area and also doesn't know anyone. It's fucking hard dude, but what I'm learning right now is to fake it until you make it. You like your EP? Good; promote it. Social media is king, tags are awesome and they work wonders >using SoundCloud or Bandcamp Dawg, it's 2022 if you can't shell out a few dollars to put your shit in Spotify you're doing it wrong, YouTube is also free, make videos, there's retards on gif teaching people how to make webms for porn, why not do it for your music? Use tags on social media, know your target audience and cater yourself to that audience. This is what the jews do to their industry plants, you do ir yourself too. Dress nice, look nice, look the part and better yet...feel and realize that's the part. You're the part because the part is you. WAGMI, you just need to hustle and eat shit a little more. That label didn't like it? Move on the next one, make a press kit, send it, make stickers, buttons or even shirts. Dude, there's absolutely no reason why you need a label in 2022
Dylan Turner
What do you do if your local scene resents your talent and has done/does shit to try to interfere with your life and career? I've had promoters ask to book me the very first time they ever saw me, immediately after my sets, and then people don't get back to me when I'm ready to play a gig. Lower tier DIY folks always bullshit me with "proximity clauses" or they pull some shit where they add another DJ slot and remove me from the bill after asking me to play. I've even had a "close friend" sabotage my vocal channel during a big show so that nobody could hear me sing. How the fuck does one persevere if it seems like everybody wants you to fail?
Ayden Reyes
Also, I'm not alt-right, racist, or sexist. I'm just quiet, do a lot less drugs than everyone else, and don't go out a whole lot.
Josiah Walker
>wojak This never happened you just want attention
Ian Diaz
>I’m cringe
Ryan Price
Imagine trying to "make it" in current year lmao. If you're making music for anything other than personal satisfaction, you're wasting your time and money. >here's my shitty EP that is completely derivative, and doesn't present ANYTHING new >NOOOOOO WHY AM I NOT FAMOUS YET Lol. Lmao.
Ryan Martinez
Oh boy, another nameless, faceless, spineless libcuck making shitty music about feelings. Can't wait to line up and buy your album! There's a trillion shitty musicians like you that meet the exact same criteria. I won't even humor you and ask "why do you think YOU'RE special and different? ". You aren't special. You aren't different.
Christian Torres
I don't even bother because nothing can come close to the head canon I have about myself as an artist. It's like a little fantasy for me that is so strong but would crumble if it came in contact with reality. So I just stay in my own head where I'm the best artist on earth and everything I make blows everyone's minds
Connor Reyes
Crab mentality
Cooper Powell
yeah i agree, getting listeners and fans is a bonus but otherwise i am completely satisfied uploading hundreds of songs to soundcloud that get no listens or views. Making music is fun regardless of any ego people attach to it
Asher Thomas
>itt: delusional Dunning Kruger losers who've never played a single show in their entire lives
Lmfao pack a few clubs and the labels will come running to you.
And there are even more "musicians" who are loud, drug addicted losers with ego problems. What's your point?
Lucas Nguyen
How did you know they listened or downloaded at all?
Jaxon Walker
imposssible to be a successful musician these days if you dont have a good look
Justin Young
Labels don't give a fuck about some rando sending them shit. There are producers who made shit for signed artists that still couldn't get signed to even an indie label. Unless you know someone AND can suck some mean dick don't even bother with labels.
Ayden Campbell
this. if you aren't beautiful just given up now
Austin Hill
KWAB
Caleb Murphy
Keep telling yourself that, truth is you just don’t have what it takes
Zachary Butler
Get used to rejection. Even the best got rejected many times at first. It will make that much sweeter when you're accepted too.
Lucas Murphy
the rolling stones were releasing records as teenagers
Ryder Richardson
I’ve had similar happen but I actually play instruments. What I did was practice until I was better and wrote better songs. You want to be undeniably good, make your music exciting and people will be excited to interact with you
David Richardson
And they were getting rejections when they were kids.
Grayson Gutierrez
the beatles were rejected by mulitple record labels before signing with parlophone your time will come eventually
Aaron Gutierrez
Why are you talking about 50s and 60s bands like that this applies to the modern age?
Charles Howard
lol no they weren't dumbass. they got signed immediately when they started playing shows
Jacob White
Because they are stupid and delusional, and think they are equally as talented as Paul McCartney and mick jagger
Nathaniel Cook
sad but true
John Evans
But they had to refine their chops as toddlers, sending out demos and getting told 'no.' They persevered. And so can OP.
Lincoln Murphy
lmao ok retard billie eilish has been releasing records since she was a teenager. happy now?
Hudson Powell
>ngmi cope lol so how old are you? 25? 30?
Sebastian Green
You don’t have titties like hers though
Henry Gray
>billie eilish She's an industry plant who has no creative input other than LOL FUNNY HAIR COLOR
