The epitome of the 6/10 movie.
Terrible, worse than even TLJ just a bit less offensive
That screencap about his name origin kept me from watching this garbage heap
You made the right choice
>it was alright
Basically that.
That said, of the four Disney films, it's the one I want to see them make into The Formula and improve on it. The new characters were okay, but it was good to have them. The nods to the original characters and such were too much, but tone it down a few notches and it'd be okay. Once they actually got into the heisting, the plot was fine, but they could have gotten it a lot better with some rewrites.
There's the groundwork for a good series of movies here (if not ones about Han necessarily) whereas the two mainline ones are flawed from the very premise.
>It was alright.
Pretty much sums it up for me as well
It was 2/3 of a not bad movie and then it just sort of falls apart during the last 1/3. It's like the inverse of Rogue One, which was 2/3 garbage and then the last 1/3 was a decent action sequence.
it was the best new star wars movie they've made since the disney sale, no idea why it got the hate campaign it did
I almost fell asleep after 20 minutes, so I turned it off and never tried to watch it again
terrible script and dialogues, terrible lead actors, terrible underexposed photography, loaded with sjw propaganda
Also the opening title sequence is probably the worst in nu wars, and that is saying something.
Wasn't nearly as bad as the dumpsterfire that is TLJ, even enjoyed it a bit despite a lot of gaping flaws.
>terrible underexposed photography
This is the part that amazed me the most, it didn't even hit "competent"
Watch the last fight scene especially, the entire movie is bad for this but the fight in the office really stands out, it's like watching fucking shadows
This.
I tried to like it. I tried to convince myself that at least it was a straightforward movie with a generic but effective plot and a satisfying conclusion. But I just can't. The characters are boring. The action is boring. The visuals are boring. The plot is boring.
There's just nothing about this movie that I find to be good, and it's too ugly and depressing to just kind of watch mindlessly.
I thought this was all one big Yea Forums joke but no it was actually in the film.
this, which makes it the best nuwars movie by a mile
Because Han is terribly miscast. He was appointed by two out of touch retards who don't have any passion for Star Wars (Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy) and is just an awful fit for Han.
I skipped it when it was in theaters but I just watched it recently. Honestly wasn't terrible. Definitely some stupid shit like how he got his name, but it wasn't the disaster I was expecting.
I would rate it second best disney star wars after rogue one.
Honestly, I kinda' liked him.
When he was actually performing instead of just trying to ape Harrison Ford, he was pretty charming.
Emilia Clarke was unironically good and qt in it.
Painfully average. The best nu-Wars movie by far, which says more about the other movies that it does about Solo. Plot and characters was servicable, but never great. Also the movie looked like ass.
Feminist robot was actually fun as a parody of obnoxious SJWs though, though it's debatable if it actually was a parody.
It's alright as a movie.
But it doesn't add anything to Han Solo's character thematically. We didn't need to see this.
And any potential for Han's adventures before ANH was squandered for a one-shot - they literally show how he got everything: his name, his pants, his ship, his pistol, his Wookie friend, his black friend, his most famous exploit at Kessel in one adventure.
Considering all the drama about him needing acting coaches on set during filming and whatnot I don't think he did a bad job.
Glover as Lando was OK. His first line in the movie sounded a lot like Billy Dee's Lando, but almost immediately after that he dropped it and became almost a different character.
I liked it better than TFA and TLJ.
>But it doesn't add anything to Han Solo's character thematically
It goes further than that, it destroys his arc..
Han Solo's arc (in the originals) is that he's a smuggler, a selfish asshole who cares about himself.. but he grows up and does the right thing in the end.
Now his arc is, he had muh rough life, but he started the rebellion, then he just becomes an asshole again for no reason and doesn't care.
It's soooooooooo dumb.
He's try-hard. He has no natural charisma and no sardonic wit.
He might be a decent character actor and if you're the cock sucking type you even might find him cute. But Han Solo, even the fucked up version of the character in the Solo movie, is written for an actor with a lot of natural charisma.
It's most obvious in the bluffing scenes. Remember when the Falcon flies away right as Han is claiming there are hired guns on board? If that happened to Harrison Ford or Chris Pratt, it would be funny. When it happens to Ehrehreich, he just comes off like a pathetic loser way out of his league.
Was Lando fucking that droid?
>whiney nasaly voice
>charming
lol.......no
Movie was boring but I thought glover did a decent lando impersonation....better than tlj but im glad I watched on netflix and not in a theater
>then he just becomes an asshole again for no reason and doesn't care.
He got double cucked by Daenerys.
The first Star wars movie I dropped. So boring.
>The best nu-Wars movie by far, which says more about the other movies that it does about Solo.
Well that's the thing. People only say this because the other movies have such severe problems. But if you add it all up, Solo is still a garbage movie. Frankly I might even rate it below TLJ. TLJ is more notable for being such an incredible clusterfuck of a movie that never should have happened. But Solo is just an incompetent nothing movie that wasted my time.
Thats kind of to be expected though. You can't really write a prequel with a new arc without interfering with the original. Goes to the larger point that they shouldn't really be making these movies in the first place.
It was okay. The scene where Han and Chewie meet for the first time was probably the best part of the movie but aside from that it was MEMBER DA KESSEL RUN!? MEMBER LANDO!?
Emilia Clarke was actually hot in it. I don't know how they managed it.
Better than tld and tfa imo
i shit on this movie. ptoo! ptoo!
it was ok until the end 6.5/10
Unclear. Pretty obvious the droid wanted to fuck him, though.
Solo's story should have been at least 3 movies.
Movie1 should have been young teenage solo, racing, thieving, hot rods.
Movie2 should have been Solo drafted into imperial army. This is the first movie to feature Lando, who is a Minderbinder-type war profiteer.
Movie 3 Solo is jaded discharged Solo striking out on his own. This is the first movie to feature the falcon.
he was 100% fine, and if people hadn't been primed to hate him by months of threads on here nobody would have bat an eye at his performance
an entirely pointless movie
it was the least bad nu-wars movie but still not good and the fallout of from the last jedi killed it more than it deserved
I liked the resolution between Woody and Han tho so I think that part saves the ending a little
Movie looked like total shit. So much brown/black/gray splotchyness. I could barely tell what was happening.
Lord Miller version would have been better.
You don't go from having a foolish beta oneitis to being a selfish casual player just because one girl betrays you.
It's not even close to believable.
it's fun
never understood all the hate
Han Shot First!
