I've only seen the first Spiderman movie from 2002. But that's because my parents took me because they thought it would be a treat for me, I don't even like spiderman.

It was a joke. Because in spiderman there are about 50 head scientists who are geeky looking guys and are evil. In Miles’s universe it was that woman who turned out to be Doc Ock anyway. It wasn’t like they tried to empower her character. They beat the shit out of her, don’t they?

Having seen it to satisfy my own curiosity it is mediocre as far as story, plot, characters go but you expect as much for a kids movie. Music was shit but I guess that is down to personal taste.
Animation was nice.
I feel Spiderwomans Universe back story would have made for a better movie if she was the protagonist who developed into the next Spidey with her motivation for doing so as well as the interactions with a Parker who was different to the one she knew.
Miles was just a bland character with a bunch of different abilities to make him more interesting which it did not do at all.

the last capeshit movie i watched was Thor and it was so shit i vowed to never watch another.

I'm not into capeshit in the first place, but the only things I didn't like in this was the music, the messy finale and the goofy, cheap-laugh-seeking spiderpig and japanese girl

The animation was nice, the characters were well written and believable and the humour was spot on (aside from aforementioned pig and japanspider). Also hottest girl in any spiderman movie.

I'll watch it because I heard it does some interesting NPR stuff.

I did the same. That movie made me completely lose interest in the genre, and after that I have only seen them sparsely depending on whether or not friends invited me out.
I'd say the only ones I have seen after that that I enjoyed were the two guardians movies and this one.

I mean, capeshit is a mediocre genre but you started with the worst of the bunch.

The sequel is LITERALLY CONFIRMED to focus on the romance between Miles and Gwen (obviously the most interesting characters which were the main draw of the movie), also if you didn't catch onto the foreshadowing of it in the movie and in the Sunflower song and music video you might have autism

I agree. They had the whole set up of Peter Parker being her uncle Ben and then nothing ever comes of it. She doesn't really react to Peter Parker dying in the new universe. She doesn't react to meeting fat old Peter Parker. Another thing is how aunt Mae just shrugs off meeting Peter just a few dies after he died. The movie looked really interesting up until that point. Then it turned into generic comic book mobie.
