Wow, this was fucking awful.
Wow, this was fucking awful
It really was, I'd rather have Black Panther or Vice win best picture over this
What was awful about it? haven't seen it btw
Every time I see movies like this I always think back to the “Oscar Gold” bit on American Dad where Roger plays a retarded alcoholic jewish boy during the Holocaust hiding in an attic, like Anne Frank, with a dog that has cancer.
It’s unironically dishonest, pretentious as fuck, and extremely uninteresting.
itt: plebs
I have no seen it yet...
i just saw Shape of Water and was very upset by the ending
It's not bad , you're just not Mexican ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's doesn't deserve so many nominations, if any, but what's dishonest about it? (I'm Mexican, by the way)
It's about filthy fucking spics. What did you expect?
>Mexicans like everything made by Mexicans
are you sure
>this specific film is everything
this
Every single man in the movie is portrayed as a total piece of shit (cheap way to gain critic and woke points), “look at how much I’m trying” cinematography, black and white (for no reason other than wow factor and critics eat it up)
yet it's still unironically a million times better than
the favourite
vice
a star is born
blackklansman
bohemian rhapsody
black panther
green book
>look at how much I’m trying
not a valid criticism. that's much better than being lazy.
Go back to capeshit, faggots
Guy you're talking too is a pleb. The movies that are actually dishonest are the favourite, first man, blackklansman, a star is born, bohemian rhapsody and vice - no meme
It's pro-leftist feminist propaganda
Says the incel shitposter on a capeshit board
I agree we need more movies that represent everyone, are blandly shot so people know their not really trying too hard, and are devoid of any artistic vision.
You sound like the male equivalent of an sjw.
You are either blind, ignorant, or a liar. Roma is incredibly well shot
actually mexicans hate it a lot since it represents nothing special in the life of an average mexican family of that time
if you speak to any other mexican youll hear them say that this movie wasn't any special or that it sucks and the general consensus is that yalitza sucks and she acted like shit
t. mexican
>You sound like the male equivalent of an sjw.
That's what this entire shithole of a reddit influx board is. They have shit taste in movies a vast majority of the time and a shit taste in women.
like a midget goalie, the point went over your head
Don't care, you are blatantly wrong
Most of the women are also portrayed poorly, though.
The mom is frequently cruel for no reason and can only be nice through a patronizing kind of speaking down to others. The grandmother is even worse.
Only the kids and the infantile main character are close to being morally redeemable.
how exactly?
The drowning scene were very good in pretty much every aspect. Long take, realistic, suspenseful even without fancy music, excellent cinematography and absolutely beautiful. The riot scene were also really good. On a technical standpoint, the movie is somewhat impressive (not on a Lawrence of Arabia class at all, but better than most shit being produced today).
The "white woman strong, mexican woman also strong but not as strong as gringo mastah, mexican men bad"- narrative was a bit tedious tho.
And who the fuck lets their dog just walk around and shit indoors? Take the thing for a walk, would'ya?
The family are so rich they have two live-in maids in a separate building. Half the movie is in a language less than 1% of Mexicans can speak.
It's not trying to depict the life of an average Mexican family.
>if you speak to any other mexican youll hear them say that this movie wasn't any special
Half the Mexicans complaining about this movie are annoyed about the main character being native. Who cares what they think?
Can we discuss the dogshit?
>contrarian post
am I cool yet?
I really can't decide if I liked this film or not
Mmmm ... it’s Cuaron’s Ozu style on his own growth urban Mexico few aspects that may seem to one-sided is that it is how he saw the series of events that happened to his family. The things could’ve been a lot better if he was able to control the tone of story during the course it’s being progressed in the way those stand-ups do. I guess those are the reason that a story is seemed & sounded flatter or some may may describe it as uninteresting. As the craft-wise, it’s the cool effort. I just wish this film had a title that grab everybody’s interest at the firsthand.
the trips are true
