It's just like 'aliens'. They're always defined by the ignorant fables and blindspots of the time, often related to emergent technologies. Like in the new modern era / space age / nuclear era, people suddenly seeing aliens and ufos. Similarly, with the more crackpot end of 'paranormal' spiritualism based around fables and 'sightings', it always happens to resemble the media capacity of the time (so in the Victorian era, scam artists used gauze to resemble 'ectoplasm', or there were cases of 'rapping' - aka someone hidden knocking on the wall... and now you have douchebags with bad quality cameras pretending to see apparitions in the noise and blurs).

Jokes aside, I've always fucking hated how Ghost Adventures airings are so sporadic. You could have back to back episodes. Then 3 weeks off. 3 new eps. 4 weeks off. Halloween special. Etc.
