The Hobbit should've been two films
Jackson was just so, so tired.
They were based on popular fantasy books. The one on the right was made from a book that was written much earlier and was intended to be for younger readers. The author later made it fit with his more mature work so viewers unfamiliar with it may found it weird especially because those movies weren't made first. Glad I could help.
greed
I recommend watching the Hobbit Maple edit. Always watch that one before rewatching the lotr trilogy.
This
wrong
The Hobbit was made after the success of the original trilogy, so it was too conscious of itself and not as experimental as LOTR was
One film.
The studio fucked over the kino that Delo Toro spent a decade creating in pre-production because he wouldn't make three films.
this, first movie should've ended right before they come to lake town
The LOTR films were meticulously planned years in advance
The Hobbit movies got halfway through pre-production with a different director but he got tired of being dicked around by MGM so he quit and Jackson had to take over at the last minute
Combined with that and MGM/WB insisting on making it a trilogy despite all previous planning being for a duology, Jackson had to wing the entire shoot with almost no plan
there's a reason Jackson got fat again and his hair turned white during the shoot
Studio interference and lack of preproduction
LOTR had 3 years or so of preproduction to plan everything, rework the script, build sets and bigatures, create prosthetics, weapons, and costumes well ahead of time.
Hobbit had 3 months once Del Toro left. This meant everything was rushed and not properly planned. Then halfway through Jackson gets told to make it three films which obviously changes everything.
Plus you have to remember that Jackson pretty much got blackmailed or extorted information directing it. Apparently the studio threatened to have Brett Ratner do it if Jackson didn't

watch this, OP
Peter looks like he slept 1 hour a week

It has kino moments though.
on the contrary, del taco shouldve never been near a Tolkien work
>all the orcs suddenly white
fuck Hackson and Del Taco
Not that one.
the first two were good, since they were actually planned. it's clear that they had no idea what the fuck they were doing on the third one. they only did on-location shooting for the first two so the last one is mostly just green-screen garbage and cgi. lotr had the same problem
What are you guys' opinions on Hobbit fan-edits?
Haven't watched the trilogy because it looked so shitty but I've heard good things about the Maple Films edit. Is it well done or does it feel like an amateur work like most fan-edits do?
The Hobbit book sucks. It literally ends with
>and the journey home was even more amazing than what's in the book, but I'm out time so peace out bitch!
The one on the right was great as a book but cringe as a movie until the final battle.
all hobbit fanedits are gay as hell. every single one of those fuckers just want to try to make the movies more "epic".
This scene was better

The scene at 0:40 actually made me feel like a kid again seeing it in theaters.
