>movie is an objective flop >admitted, unironic, and shameless shilling continues
Juan Moore
>she can't have kids Eh, there are at least 2 versions of her that can have kids.
Jack Scott
Most certainly either at a big convention or social media’s
Brandon Sanchez
Bohemian Crapsody made $100M. $50M is poor from Japan.
Nathan Miller
The picture of Christopher Waltz holding hand with an AI anime girl on the screen is one of the most blessed images i've seen
Landon Thompson
why is it always mexicans who are the most autistic?
Jaxson Brown
>go to see alita for the 3rd time last night >scene where ido puts her back together just finishes and it cuts to her waking up for the first time >a little girl a few rows below me shouts out SHE'S SOOO PRETTY!!
They are just having fun and doesn't shame about joking. Is pretty ironic that you think they're autistic.
Justin Roberts

THANKS YOU BASED JIMBO
Jackson Thompson
Nah he's just the awful, talentless weta digital re-imagining of the manga character
Leo Hill
Not anytime soon, especially when Disney is in the process of acquiring Fox. Also, depends on James Cameron since he owns the IP.
Benjamin Baker
thats not philippines
Hudson Barnes
>and doesn't shame about joking so what you're really saying is you're an autistic mexican.
John Cruz
Cameron doesn't own the IP retard he only owns a license to make a live action adaption.
Landon Cook
Is that Lapenus?
Isaac Watson
the way he was sitting there, I was expecting a crotch gun to pop out.
Thomas Walker
Based France has made double what Germany has for Alita.
Jackson Long
>want to see the movie in IMAX again >already spent 10 dollars to watch it in 3D. 20 dollars in IMAX 3D >poor as fuck >could watch it on Tuesday again but less money will be added to the box office I will burn my life for Alita.
Gavin Ward
i'm kinda in the same boat, trying to figure if i want to go again today in 3d
Carson Gonzalez
No, my autistic friend with no reading comprehension.
France is the most Japanophile country in Europe. I expect good revenue from Spain and Italy too.
Ryan Cooper
Why did you not suck your teeth and yell out she cute user
Liam Peterson
>and then he killed the dog
Caleb Perry
No one told me Jeff Fahey was in the movie. Guess I have to watch it then.
Brody Morgan
>Bohemian Rhapsody made $100M Japaneses are famous around the world for loving Queen though. 50M is good for a non-Queen movie in Japan.
Juan Cooper
tuesdays are $5 all day at amc theaters
Cooper Reyes
>Looks kinda weird >Probably a terrible adaptation as usual with this crap, don't want to watch it. >Hear that it's really good and fairly faithful to the actual story. >Fuck it, decide to go and watch it and I don't even usually go to the movies.
Just came back from seeing it and damn that was pretty good. It's strange how she looked somewhat weird to me in the trailers, but after about 5 seconds of screentime when she wakes up, I thought she was one of the cutest things ever put on screen. Also the actress did a great job. I want to protect that smile. Speed up the robo research so I can buy one of my own
I meant the film IP obviously. Also, Its not just the live action license he owns, he owns the license to any kind of adaptation of Alita. Pretty much the reason why there hasnt been any anime adaptation since the OVA.
Aaron Scott
grim numbers for a friday, I think this movie is officially doa
What is France’s current number. The bongs are hopeless so I have discounted them completely.
Tyler Martin
I just finished reading Last Order. It was horribly long, and I'm sorry for those who had to wait for 14 fucking years for the series to finish. The last chapters, the ones dubbed "Alita Quest" are very good though. Suddenly the author remembers he's known for writing Gunnm and not Dragon Ball, and brings old characters and places in the limelight, and it's surprisingly good. Pic related, for example is pure kino. Going to read Martian Chronicles soon.
Does anyone know where to score downloadable Chinese Alita movie posters?
I found this site with killer Alita posters but its a pay to download deal. Its got some killer posters though that aren't anywhere on USA sites that I have seen. cinematerial.com/movies/alita-battle-angel-i437086
Nolan Cooper
Yes, is pretty sad you can't understand simple sentences in your own language.
If you've seen it only once, definitely see it a second time. Between Tuesday and Friday night all I could think about was the movie and the second time just confirmed how awesome I thought it was. I ended up loving it even more. The third time, I'm not sure yet. I still want to see it again but I feel pretty satisfied with the second viewing
I'm in leaf land. I think IMAX on tuesdays is about 10 dollars. At least I still count as domestic so more of that is going to based Jim and not the theater compared to China.
Kevin Adams
its just an estimate. relax
Blake Rodriguez
is Mars what happens when the "ugh...what could have been..." guy gets his will through?
Jackson Cooper
I'll take slavshit over electromagnetic space karate anytime.
Chase Anderson
The movie felt too compressed, should've cut the big slavic robot subplot way sooner to give more space for the other big 3 subplots (Hugo and his gang, the pretty Bounty Hunter and Motorball)
Michael Thompson
barjack manufacture arms based on old models mined out from underground.
It teeters on the edge of not working. I love the scrimmage scene, and the scene where they visit the pits is good too, but while I liked the tryout match they could have kept that in reserve for the next movie. If a sequel was guaranteed, that's what I would have done.
Or - director's cut where we get to rest more in the good character moments that this movie has.

Oh, yeah - don't get me wrong. When the only real complaint I have is "I wish this movie was longer" and "Can somone scrape that burrito off the Centurion's foot already?" it's the best manga/anime live action adaption I've seen, and that includes the ones made by Japan themselves.
Oliver Miller

I looked out for the burrito on my second viewing and Yea Forums is actually retarded. She leaves the burrito on the ground and you see the dog eating it as she leaves with Hugo. The centurion didn't even step on it.
Jonathan Morris
782 778 tickets the first week. Pretty good but not the best start. Everyone love it though.
Jonathan Torres
We've been through this before with Pacific Rim and BR2049. Americans don't actually like science fiction.
Nicholas Barnes
Fucking Lego Movie Dos got more than Alita in US
Joshua Morales
In the early days cameron used to talk about this movie being hard R and having underage nudity. Which was bizarre since the source material doesn't have any.
Samuel Butler
It was interesting, but is the sequel seems difficult? $170,000,000 is overused.
Lucas Powell
Same with the orange. I looked for both of those during my 2nd viewing. you can even see the dog go down for the burrito she leaves on the ground when shes looking at the poster.
Austin Reyes
Those numbers aren't grim, they're fantastic. Grim numbers would be in the hundred millions, because that would mean full steam ahead for bastardized hollywood adaptations of everything from akira to zeiram.
Imagine one piece by the guys who did that recent fantastic four movie.
Thanks for clearing that up. I did notice that she left the burrito on the ground, but since Yea Forums had been proven wrong by that point I stopped caring.
Nathan Ramirez
You are blind and probably retarded. The burrito clearly disappears, reappears for an instant then disappears again. Not only is the scene annoying because of this its also a waste of a perfectly good burrito.
>imagine neon genesis evangelion by zack snyder. Oh god please don't even type that. Just thinking about this terrifies me.
Jaxson Foster
there's already a one piece tv series in the works, which I can't wait for because it's guaranteed to be a hilarious train wreck even with a billion dollar pre-marketing budget and the greatest talent and oda himself all involved with making it
Julian Harris
Idiots. The burrito clearly disappears. The dog doesn't scarf it down. It does't get crushed by the robot. It just goes away.
Evan Scott
I watched it the entire time. She puts the burrito down on her left side while she pets the dog. It never disappears. You even see the foil of the wrapper while the Centurion is in frame. It only "disappears" because the camera doesn't show the ground beside her while she's petting the dog.
gunnm/alita were never mainstream prperties in japan, so that's hardly surprising. it also figures they're weary of hollywood appropriating their culture even if they are interested in a niche manga from decades ago.
Leo Williams
Are we officially in the age of anime adaptations being the norm?
I'm a little worried. Maybe we shouldn't have shilled this hard.
>hardly surprising I'm not asking if it's surprising. I'm asking for the source of this information, user.
Angel Lopez
Thing is though, Pacific Rim got a sequel.

It's the first one to really succeed after the longest streak of complete disasters, and it took fucking JC stading over Rodriguez's shoulder do achieve it. I doubt we'll be buried after adaptations any time soon.
Noah Morris
You know, when Hollywood gets down to brass tacks they can make good stuff. The Marvel Cinematic universe is a lot better than today's Marvel Comics, for example. Live action Spider-man is a very mixed bag, but that's complicated - and Japan-owned/licensed.
Adam Ortiz
nice but that only means alita will be able to gross about the same as BR2049 - 250 million, and not the 550 it needs for a sequel to happen.
Alexander Perez
No, Alita has a good reputation. I think that I can say the best in Hollywood adaptation manga movies.
However, it is a fact that it is still a minor manga. It is fairly small compared with Shonen.
Bentley Scott
Last Order is not my manga, something something, Alita and Tiphares not Gally and Zalem, something something praise Mars.
Luke Richardson

Kids don't buy comics anymore - they just read manga. The comics readers left were 40 year old guys who grew up with the good stuff, and trying to preach politics to those guys doesn't endear the 40 year olds nor does it bring in new readers.

The tournament "arc" was sheer pain. Vilma's and the entire post-disaster world's backstory in the middle of it all was great, though. There was the occasional gem hidden within the stagnant mess that was the latter half of Last Order. Martian Chronicles is doing great in comparison. It's properly paced and sticks to progressing Alita's story instead of building up irrelevant side characters.

IDK man I mean Mr Rogers was fed up with cape shit before the second run of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. He had read an article about a kid who had jumped off a roof wearing a cape because he thought he could fly like superman and Mr. Rogers felt like he had to do a whole week on a idea that superheroes are make-believe.
Maybe he helped capeshit go out of fashion long enough in the 90s for us to enjoy a nice run of cyberpunk anime, but without Mr. Rogers capeshit has been allowed to run free.

Hope you're trolling, but just in case you're not... - Battle Angel Alita, the original manga, ran from 1990 to 1995. - BAA : Last order, the sequel, ran from 2000 to 2014. - BAA : Mars Chronicles, another sequel, began in 2014 and is still being written.
Jack Campbell
in what form is it still running
Jaxson Moore
I mean I know that, but did westeners know that as well?
Xavier Hernandez
In the same form it's been running since 1990. As a manga you dumb cunt.
Jackson Gonzalez
thankfully, its fucked. The best anime/manga adaptation was speed racer, and they chose the exact worst property to be 110% faithful to. This told hollywood that exact reproduction is bad. then DB and GitS told hollywood that over-westernization is bad. Now alita has told hollywood that partial westernization is bad.
Thus, if being beyond faithful doesn't work, and zero faithfulness doesn't work, and partial faithfulness doesn't work, then anime adaptations can't work.
So thank you jimbo for saving anime from the west.
Charles Evans
thanks for educating me, I had no idea, I stand corrected
Go watch Alita again. As Alita motions to place the burrito on the ground it just disappears. It will appear again then be gone for good.
Anthony Russell
Yes Evangelion is a deconstruction (in a good way) of the super-robot genre, which had become a bit stale at that time. I guess? If it's the first super robot show you watch, you do risk of being confused by the tropes. Like "Why the hell do they have teenage kids piloting robots" - which Evangelion actually makes an issue out of while most shows made it about teen wish fulfillment.
Jace Reed
>I feel the same way except about RT critic scores. Roger Ebert will be missed. >missing ebert Why are fans of this flick such tasteless entry level plebeians?

At least she didn't eat it. Cyborgs don't need burritos and the people who made it probably took a shit and didn't wash their hands afterwards.
Luis Adams
we struggled for a bit to figure out what it meant, but eventually we realized the actual meat was about a (more) realistic take on the effects of dumping the fate of humanity on early teenagers.
Jaxson Rivera

they will keep trying, same as they keep trying with vidya and how they tried to get capeshit "right" for decades. it'll eventually catch or so they think.
Jose Rodriguez
What's hilarious is how people who watch it years after it's commentary was relevant totally didn't understand a single thing about it, and produced criticisms such as these.
As a westerner, we learned about religion in school even if we weren't religious. We're pretty good at noticing the difference between a religious theme and people just dressing things up with crosses.
The sort of Kaballah based stuff that Anno was using is not common knowledge though. That's some apocryphal mysticism stuff that you'd only heard about if you did more deep study into religion or literature.
Benjamin Bell
There's nothing in the movie that the manga doesn't do better.
Adam King
I think Godzilla and Pokemon will succeed.
Chase Peterson
nobody. tax write-off mostly. 99% of these will be pulped.
Matthew Hughes
There were also a lot of nonsensical stuff, like that nazi guy who died two pages after being introduced but somehow haunted Alita as a ghost for the entire series. And even if I liked Toji, the entire space karate nonsense was a huge tumor on the plot. I didn't like the vampires either, they don't fit in a setting like Gunnm. I could understand people getting nanomachines injections that turn them into vampires, but actual Transylvanian vampires born in the 1800s don't have their place in a cyberpunk manga. BAA:LO has a few good characters and subplots, and it gives Nova a lot of screentime, so it still has some qualities.
Parker Morris
the destruction is glorious as well, it really pulls of the fight manga thing well
Nolan Taylor
This is kinda painful. Sidenote: Unit-01 is such a damn good timeless design
Jayden Torres
I want to kill Alita.
Isaiah Jackson
>chocolate That's the the other immersion destroying scene that pissed me off. When Aliita takes bites out if the chocolate bar only the first few bites are accurately removed from the chocolate bar. The subsequent bites either have the incorrect portion of the chocolate bar removed or worse, no chocolate is bitten out. They could have done better with the realism in this scene.
The only reason they even got capeshit "right" was by moving away from well recognized properties, where they had the freedom to do their own things. As until ironman, the philosophy was "hey that's popular, lets make a movie out of it and miss literally every single note that resonated with audiences." Of course now they're right back to that in addition to bitching at audiences for not fully embracing being shat all over.
Nolan Campbell
calm down mr bigott
Ethan Green
It also really makes sense in Evangelion that everything has religious codenames, given the actual plot is about a secret society ruling the world and trying to use the powers of the ancient lifeforms that created humanity to alter the nature of mankind. Of course these guys would slap symbolism fucking everywhere.
Jack Hughes

It's pretty obvious 9s didn't want to kill 2b. You got the reference wrong.
Caleb Morales
Bullshit. The movie will blow way past $250 million. Stop acting like it will leave theatres on Sunday night. Clearly it will be in theatres quite awhile especially in China and Japan its biggest markets.
Hunter Smith
Could some kind user please post a screenshot or video of the scene where Jennifer Connelly is wearing sexy lingerie?
Evangelion is a vitcim of its own success in that regard. It doesn't get to deconstruct the genre if it's the principal example of the genre. Like if Deadpool was the first big superhero movie.
Cooper Johnson
Yes. Again, it is a widely known fact among the western animufags.
Hunter James
so they'll lose upwards of 100m on it.
Elijah Howard
9S totally wanted to kill 2B. He knew that she was an E model all along and Adam was chiding him for trying to avoid that fact. He also tries to kill 2B in the past and almost succeeds.
Jacob Parker
Don't you dare to ever compare my waifu 2B to Alita.
Brody Young

Connor Scott
I think her brain needs more then sugar. Dr Ido was quite clear that she needed nutritious food for brain development.

This. Whoever thought having a novel or prequel novel based on the movie based on the OVA based on the manga, needs to be talked to.
Jace Cruz
>Eva >not Gundam Come on son.

The movie is in its own continuity. I don't see what the problem is. Its not like anyone is saying to read the book and not read the manga.
Grayson Watson
>this comic isn't ironic >it's making fun of evangelion, not of people who dumbly ciriticize evangelion fuck the guy who drew this.
Trying to kill her in self defense is different to wanting to kill her in general, which he didn't. Why the fuck did he go insane after 2b died if he only wanted to kill her, retards not even once.
its a level of oddness that makes it pretty impossible to discern what he actually means. Mostly because you don't want to think he's serious and getting paid to be a moron.
Nolan Campbell
>It doesn't get to deconstruct the genre if it's the principal example of the genre. Like if Deadpool was the first big superhero movie. You do realize that Gundam, the series that Eva was deconstructing, was made in 1978, right?

Oddly enough they got a pretty good and somewhat known writer to do the official novelization.
Charles Wright

yes. There is over $ 250 million for trekking. Also,I do not need 550 to create a sequel. Even the toughest number is 500.
I think that it is actually around $ 400 million. 20th century FOX say $ 350 million.
David Jones
In spite of the bizarre pacing in the second half and a sort of weak ending, the aesthetic, Salazar's charm, and a strong supporting cast all contributed to what is a fairly solid movie. I'm just kind of disappointed because I feel like if the plot was cleaned up the movie could've been great. I honestly only saw it because I really like Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron, and while I do think it's one of Cameron's weaker ventures, being in and out of production hell since 2003 probably didn't help the movie making process too much

I'm not so hip with the youth these days, but Evangelion tends to be the only super-robot show that lots of normies or casual anime watchers have watched. Mainly it's our fault as anime fans for recommending Evangelion as the first robot show we mention.
Evan Walker
>thread is suddenly about nier automata for no discernable reason >there is zero ass posting
I agree with you on pretty much everything. Vampires certainly have no place in a post-apo scifi/cyberpunk setting like Gunnm. However, I still feel that a scifi setting could pull off biological immortals existing in known history without sacrificing credibility. A set of freakish mutations that lead to renewing telomeres, a natural resistance to cancer cell growth and an increased capacity for wound recovery, for example, could be used to explain an ancient biological human, kinda like in The Man From Earth. Would've been easier for the setting for Vilma to have been one such, too.
Last Order has its good points, and in hindsight I'm glad I didn't end up skipping any part of it, though it left me feeling a bit cheated in the end. Still, Mars Chronicles largely managed to salvage what Last Order screwed up.

Not sure - but box office takes for the studio is lower in China than in the US. That means that a movie that makes a lot of money in the US can break even with a lower global gross than a movie that gets most of it box office gross in Asia.
500 million sounds too high though. I mean, financers want return on investment but I think 400 million is a more realistic break-even point.
Connor Allen
>brainlet can't understand basic character motivations that are outright said by characters Adam and A2 spell it out for you. Obviously 9S loves 2B but he's a more complex character than you're making him out to be. And this is all about whether or not the censored word was kill or fuck anyway and its pretty clearly kill.
> Mainly it's our fault as anime fans for recommending Evangelion as the first robot show we mention. Only plebs do that. The kind of pleb that thinks Eva is at all unique or is "the principal example of the genre".
Asher Mitchell
What are they even going to put in a prequel book for several hundred pages? They're going to make up a shit ton of bullshit out of nowhere and act like any of it makes sense to either the movie or the manga.

It goes apeshit with cyborg designs. One of the major characters in the latter volumes of the original manga is a gigantic cyborg centaur warlord. Last Order and Mars Chronicles delve into bioengineering to produce some really inhuman organic monsters, too.
Liam Rivera
the cyborg designs in the movie were total ass though

Cooper Parker

"Gosh, I sure am glad I got the job to come up with sfx for the english alita translation"
Fox said they only needed 240 million to break even. >B-BUT MUH MARKETING Alita had next to no advertising, and isn't some Marvel flick pasting ads anywhere and everywhere it can, and doing lots of rounds on the talk show circuit, special public events, etc. The vast majority of people only saw this through word of mouth, and it shows at the box office.
Benjamin Long
After reading the manga anyone would have been hard pressed to make a better adaptation. The two first arcs with Makaku and Hugo are really just short introductory arcs for Alita, there are virtually no way to put them as their own separate arcs and expect it to make a good film.
Hudson Martinez
It was Koyomi who said that. Sadly, she's nothing like manga-Koyomi, who's a cute tomboy loli.
If it isn't capeshit or horror, Amercans won't watch it.

I also love that part where Ido is pretending to not know Alita, and casually tells her coach she should be a prostitute instead of a motorball player.
Grayson Ward

Josiah Jackson
Beacuse the movie is going to be playing in theaters for several more weeks. No one knows what the final numbers will be. You are literaly pulling shit out of your ass and posting it as if it was fact. gtfo with HUR HOW IS SHIT FROM MY ASS BAIT?
Oliver Thompson
Actually, in Japan, self-insert works are highly valued. There is a genre called Shi shousetsu (means private novel). The most authoritative literary award is Akutagawa Awards. Akutagawa suicide with a woman three times.
So NGE is highly appreciated.
Ryder Foster
This is a story of the $1 movie.
If they spend $1 on making the movie, they'll spend $1 marketing the movie. If the ticket costs $1, the theater will take half, thus they'll need to sell four tickets (for a gross of $4) to break even. Because if international trade regulations, if they released the $1 movie in, say, china, the makers of the $1 movie would only get around 20% of the ticket price. Thus they would need to sell about 10 tickets to break even from china alone.
Hence why alita is a total flop if it makes less than around 500m worldwide.
Josiah Stewart

Self-insert characters aren't necessarily bad - they're just overwhelmingly often bad when used by bad writers.
I think you meant to respond to ?

Hugo dies in the first ten chapters. There are about 50 chapters. Almost nothing of the first series of the manga was adapted.
Michael Gutierrez
She gets to salem but she's dead when she gets there both times.
Nolan Hernandez
>making the assumption they'd spend a dollar on marketing and not something like 10 cents or even nothing >making the assumption that theaters take half when that's not the case with all theaters >conveniently ignoring Fox themselves stated that the film only needed to make 240 million to break even
As I thought, 170 million was overused. Even Captain Marvel is $ 152 million.
Isaiah Kelly
>SHILLLS REEEEE The only people shilling here are those doing it for free, because they saw the film and want to spread word of mouth, you literal mouth breathing retard. >B-BUT MUH SUPERHBAWL Was a pregame ad, which does not cost anywhere near as much as half time.
Brayden Hernandez
There's a lot of fat that could've been trimmed from the manga to make the first three volumes into a pretty tight two hour movie.
The issue with alita is instead of trimming fat, they trimmed meat, and then added more fat, and then rushed through everything they had, then ended with a sequel hook for a movie literally no one wants.
Jaxon Ross
How about you fuck off back to Yea Forums already?
Caleb Gray
i'm amazed that the slums had so much food and look at those bars of chocolate.
Levi Price
people know paid marketers are all over this site/board, friend. You're not going to get anywhere by screeching in response.
Brandon Kelly
Sorry, it is a lie. But it is true that he committed suicide.
Eli Phillips
Your own math makes zero fucking sense. Following it, Alita should make 700 to just break even, and that's not even factoring in the supposed trade regulations. You are full of shit, user
Matthew Flores
>Here is a pile of shit I concocted proving my bullshit You are either trolling or literally a retard.
Jaxson Davis
How about you elaborate on that mate. What meat did they trim exactly?
Andrew Garcia
Saw Alita Battle Angel 30 minutes ago.
You are full of shit.
Just like burritos are.
Gabriel Johnson
Many of the mistakes come from adapting the anime instead of the manga. Chiren, guryishka whatever the fuck his name is etc.
Elijah Hill
>u am teh dumb if u noes anythin about da economics of the films
this is some next level shilling
Juan Campbell
>imagine neon genesis evangelion by zack snyder. >implying that's bad
Michael White
Is Speed Racer any good? Just starting it
Lucas Martinez
$700 million is too low. Alita needs to make at least a $1 billion to break even. Its not happening. Cameron is literally going to be bankrupt by next Friday when Fox docks his cut and makes him pay them back for the $850 million they spent on advertising.
Christopher Roberts
>literally no one wants That is "literally" the exact opossite reaction of everyone watching the movie. That's a really funny confession you got there. Oh well, at least you admit it. ;^)
Alexander Watson
CM will look like dogshit.
Jason Morgan
>people know paid marketers are all over this site/board
If Alita doesn't gross the GDP of a small country it'll be operating at a loss. It's a damn shame that Fox had to go out like this
Juan Perez
It is an agricultural area in Latin America, user. Of course they have food and chocolate.
When was the last time you heard of a famine in Latin America?
Eli Watson
>anyone who calls shill is a shill >i am successfully confusing people!
... I can't even comprehend the level of intellect on display here.
Cooper Scott
I want it and I don't feel like they trimmed out much meat. Yugo not being a spine thief was a bit disappointing but that's it. Call Chirin fat one more time motherfucker, I dare you. I double dare you.
Juan Wood
>Just like burritos are. Rude
Leo Foster
> HUR IM LOSING MY ARGUMENT BECAUSE I AM COMPLETELY FULL OF SHIT SO I WILL JUST CALL EVERYONE ARGUING WITH ME A SHILL
Joseph Diaz
>yes goy this film needs to make at least 1 billion to break even to make back the 2 billion spent making it >what do you mean 4 billion? It needs to make 6 gorrilion! *rubs mouse hands*
Samuel Stewart
No, Alita break-even point is $ 20 billion
Jason Ramirez
Your office gets hired out for about $100 a day.
Cooper Richardson
$20 bil? I heard it was $350 bil
Jordan Price
Not him but for one thing in the manga the guy with the chain fingers isn't some random guy his body is possessed by makaku, a character that doesn't appear in the movie. Makaku is one of desty novas experiments so desty is the big bad guy from the very start in the manga.
Gavin Barnes
A $175 million is not that big a budget anymore, user. $100 mil is a B-movie.
Eli Diaz
>make a movie that needs all the world's money twice to break even WFT was Cameron thinking?
Henry Thompson
fox said 340 million. but 340 million on 170M budget and under 100 domestic is absolutely not enough. Batman Begins made 375 million on 150 million budget, but it had over 200 million domestic and back in 2005 home video was far more lucrative.
Benjamin Taylor
cringe
Aaron Richardson
let's face it, it needed to make at least $500 trillion in the first hour of release to break even
Ayden Young
Sorry, I investigated. It seems I had misunderstood. It is $ 500 trillion.
How does it make you feel that Captain Foot Fungus hasn't even been shown yet and is projected to a box office bomb, despite spending millions on advertising and Black Panther scam shit ("pre sales are totally doing great goys please ignore we're buying tickets ourselves and handing it out to people"); meanwhile, Alita has next to no advertising, is already starting to break even, with many people seeing it multiple times, almost exclusively on word of mouth. Must suck knowing your "totally first female super hero goyim" schtick is failing spectacularly.
>Believing hollywood accountancy Seriously. Stop spouting these inflated numbers. It's an open secret that Hollywood fudge the books to show that they barely break even for tax purposes. You can bet they're swimming in money because those """"""marketing expenses""""" are money from the left pocket going into the right pocket. Seriously.
