Ever since I was young I used to watch the simpsons (up to around season 25). The other day I marathoned all 25 seasons back to back and I gotta say there are so many subtle jokes from this television program that I just did not understand when I was young. Matt Groening obviously did this on purpose in order to attract both a young audience and an older adult audience without explicitly making overtly adult and sexual jokes. So, my question to everyone on this board is to discuss any particular instances or similar experiences from The Simpsons that you can think of.

This is very common, and nowhere more so than children's TV shows. They're created by adults and they know that adults will have to watch them with their kids. So they have fun with it. Whenever this comes up I point to Captain Pugwash, which was one of my favourites as a lad. >Captain Pugwash >Master Bates >Seaman Staines >and Roger The Cabin Boy

>Matt Groening obviously did this on purpose I presume this is all bait but Matt Groening didn't write anything. It was people like John Swartzwelder, George Meyer and the showrunners up to S9 that made The Simpsons so great.
