I think in Alita's case, as is more often then not, the outrage is manufactured by entities that gain from the outrage. Not gonna lie, if it was just constant fighting all the time and no development of the other characters, it'd be a pretty shit movie. If you weren't such a gore horny brainlet you'd understand that the spaces between the fights is what make the fights so much more impactful.
I do wonder where the hell they're planning to go with the story considering how many setups they've changed and with the stuff they picked up from Last Order, the original progression of Nova as a character isn't even any longer possible. You could set up a convincing second act against the rebuilt Zapan but it seems like some things from it were already tangetially rolled in, so do you just go straight to mad max portions or make up something completely different? Well, not that we'll ever know.

Word of mouth is fucking bursting in China. They're loving the shit out of it. If it makes 200 million total by the end of it's China run, we're safe boys. So far it's made 26 million just on Friday, for a current weekend of total of 45 million. This movie will do over 60 million this weekend. Let's hope they carry it all the way!
it isn't making $200 million. Animated movies aren't huge there, but Dragon 3 coming out next week will have some effect. A week after that Captain Marvel is out. Don't expect more than 2x the opening, or around $125 million
How To Train Your Dragon isn't big in China, and after Alita setting that bar of special effects, I can't see audiences there giving it the same reception, financially and critically. We'll have to see how next weekend holds, but at least this weekend was a big success. The movie keeps topping expectations.

I’m going to have to agree with this. I liked a lot of the world building and sort of idea behind Alita Battle Angel, and hope it gets a sequel, abut I could tell the movie didn’t really feel comfortable in it’s own skin. It flirts with the idea of maintains the ultra violence and crazy momentum of the comic but then it weirdly tries to simultaneously be a YA/generic superhero style origins film, and the result was a mish mosh that’s going to domestically uninterest both hardcore fans of the manga and casual hollywood movie goers look for sky pew pews

since they apparently intent to skip the entire motorball arch, there's no way for Nova to attain the berserker body. They will probably try to make use of Zapan anyway so he will probably seek out nova to become stronger so that he can take revenge on Alita. Ido may or may not die in this process. The body Zapan is given by Nova will get out of control, and he will be too strong for Alita to defeat. Nova will then help Alita to defeat Zapan. Alita wins but is almost destroyed in the process, Nova eats flan and runs away. Cliffhanger for Tuned Arc. End.
