Lee has made some garbage for sure, and BlackKlansman isn't even that good, but McQueen has never made anything nearly as good as Malcolm X or Bamboozled and if Lee's made anything as bad as Widows I haven't seen it. Dickerson is better than either though, I agree.

Bamboozled and Oldboy, but I don't really blame him for Oldboy since the studio cut out like an hour.

Klansman was OK, but nothing more. Was it a story that was worth telling? Yes, but not from the perspective that Spike Lee told it from. The white police officer (Adam Driver) did a heck of a lot more to bust the Klan than the black police officer did. The former is the one who actually physically had to go undercover and risk his own neck, keeping up a performance for days on end. The latter just made a few phone calls.

The female civil rights activist feels more like Spike Lee's personal sexual fantasy than a real character, and all the Klan are moronic rednecks. Say what you want about Crash (2004) but at least it gave a more nuanced take on racism, like the rich overcaffeinated housewife played by Sandra Bullock who turns out to be quite the seething racist.

Worth watching? Yes. Best Picture? No. That'll go to Green Book.

Green Book is even less deserving than Klansman, but it has a good chance of winning.

BlacKKKlansman, is a fun movie with good performances, specially by Driver, but its just another Spike Lee movie. The only reason its been hyped so much is because of the current political climate in Hollywood.
