I don't but I like this
SKA SKA SKA
a lot of kids I knew in the early oughts liked Ska but I can only stomach so much of it.
then again I made the OP and I feel like a poser
I like a bunch of singles and some albums, but what are certified classics? I really like Everything Went Numb
it really is the best ska album of all time, i just discovered it about 5 years ago and i'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves
even if that's all you ever like it still means you like some ska, be a man
I don't even like ska but I'm glad you've stopped feeling ashamed about what you listen to, user.
in my humble opinion:
Arrogant Sons of Bitches - Three Cheers for Disappointment
Bomb the Music Industry! - Any of their pre-Scrambles albums + Adults!
Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights
Operation Ivy - Energy
The Specials - The Specials
Suicide Machines - Destruction by Definition
Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview
Sublime - Sublime (Also 40 Oz to Freedom)
do you like ska or "ska"?
also, i'm not saying scrambles and vacation aren't good albums (they are fucking amazing), they just aren't really ska albums
>no English Beat
yea to be honest i haven't dove that deep into pre-third wave but i really need to
what did she mean by this
some people should feel ashamed about what they listen to, though.
third wave isn't real ska
i will fight you
first, second, or third wave?
first if you're a contrarian
second if you're the kind of person that doesn't like music made during or after the 90s
third if you like music that sounds fun but has depressing lyrics
If you dig Operation Ivy, check out Tim Armstrong's solo album as well - A Poet's Life.
Top 10 for sure.
But for the best ska album that none of you have heard of - Mad Conductor - Starry Safari
Agrolites play behind Tim in A Poet's Life, another at the Ska Roundtable

Another classic album
Don't forget Get Warmer
youtube.com
Ehhhh. Get Warmer is maybe their most underwhelming record. Vacation, Scrambles, Adults, and Goodbye Cool World all blow that one out of the water.
really can't go wrong
this album makes me cringe because it was like they were trying to be as edgy as possible
>music that sounds fun but has depressing lyrics
Did somebody say "Reel big fish?"
youtube.com
>depressing lyrics
it's clearly a joke song, user
every RBF song is a joke song
in fact their success is why ska is never taken seriously
Yeah the one I posted doesnt fit that super well; I just like it. Just off the top of my head Drunk Again or She's not the end of the world are probably more fitting, though, maybe not Drunk Again.
>in fact their success is why ska is never taken seriously
People used to take ska seriously?!
I only know about Reel Big Fish and Skatalites.
Come on man, you should at least know about the bosstones.

no fighting on the dance floor!

okay, third wave sucks but this is unironically one of the best songs of the 90s. i can't deny it.
I never really thought about Ska, but I really love Bomb the Music Industry. Took me a while to realize they are technically ska. So I guess I like ska now.
Where do I go from here?
Hey man, Don't let those bastards grind you down.
definitely do NOT listen to any of the bands posted in this thread. that would not make ANY sense.
i'm a rude boy
pretty much the only genre
If you like fun underground slav ska, check this out.
Skankin Pickle - Live 95
Assorted Jelly Beans - s/t
The Hippo's - forget the world
mu330 - chumps on parade
The Skolars - 93-96
for the purists:
VA - Intensified 62-66
VA - Ska Bonanza the Studio One Years
Roland Alphonso - Something special hot shots
Lee Perry - not yet upset 63-69
Nothing to be ashamed of, ska is as based as you can get, you get all the rude, all the rhythm, it's ok for white and blacks equally and it's not politically involved unless you want it to make it that way.
I like only roots ska or 2 tone though, I absolutely hate modern 2000s american ska, it has nothing to do with real ska.
If you have to listen to ska, listen to :
Laurel Aitken, The Specials, Bad Manners, The Selecter, Desmond Dekker, Madness, Early Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Toots and the Maytals
I don't know what ska is but I like Tleskač.

I was never a hater of ska, but never a fan either
Folly is the only band I genuinely liked, becaused they mixed ska with hardcore punk, so it was more up my alley
I like 'ska'.
forgot to post yt link

pick it up pick it up
I love the original 60s ska, and the late 70s-early 80s so called "Two-Tone" revival.
I like some so-called "Ska-Punk" but I'm very picky.
Not bad for a bunch of white commie LARPers
why did punk ska oi all get lumped together
Who here on the Noise Ska wave?
