Rear projection TV in 1996
>weight: 362lbs
just like you're mom
>turn it on
>lights dim for a moment
Good times.
What cost $4000 in 1996 would cost $6479.99 in 2018.
Good thing my dad was rich in the 90s. And my mom didn't have to work either
We're these things common in the USA? I always remember seeing them in American films/TV shows in the 90s and early 2000s.
We never got them in the UK, and I was always torn that they looked really fucking stupid, but it would be cool having a TV that big.
>projection TV
Blegh, I always hated how these looked
one of the benefits though was that since it needed a stand it came with built in (although shitty) speaker system, this one had 3-channel DD with option for two rear hookups,
I just remember my babysitter had one in the late 80s and the image quality looked terrible unless you were watching it in complete darkness.
>his aunt and uncle weren’t moderately rich and had a projection tv in the basement that you played Power Stone with your cousins on
DUDE
>power stone
But they were SO fucking B I G
My friend, you know...
We had one of these in my first apartment around 2008. We got it for $50 on craigs. It was fucking SIKK for older video games and movies. We had a laserdisc and a VHS, it was rad.
they always had braveheart playing on theirs
I'm not sure how common they were but I had a few rich-ish friends in elementary who had them.
>ywn stay up all night in your best friend's attic playing Vice City on one of these again
>ask my dad for a tv with picture in picture cause my friend has one
>turns out it’s practically useless
My dad bought a tv like this, it fucking lasted for over 2 decades.
Oh hey, that's our old tv. It's been outside for years. Dad won't trash it because "it still works."
ever press the MAGIC FOCUS button? pretty cool
Yeah and it didn't do shit
t. different user who had one in his house as a kid
but it popped up the cool
D I G I T A L C O N V E R G E N C E
letters on the screen in flashing RGB
>tfw one time pressed it as a kid while my dad was watching a show and he got pissed because it takes about 4 minutes for the whole thing
