Season 3 set up quite a few new character another season could expand on. Both Coopers and Lauras actors are still alive and could probably pick up right where S3 ended. Another season is very much possible.

I Don't Know Jack is an incredibly good film and shows a completely different side of Lynch. The parts of Room To Dream that deal with the young Lynch & Nance scraping by as newspaper delivery boys in early 70s LA are some of my favorite parts of that book.

The fan-explanation I read said that what happened in the last episode all went accord to Coop's plan, and that he sacrificed himself and Diane to destroy Judy. Laura doesn't really count as a sacrifice because she was dead to begin with, but he certainly never intended to save her, just use her as a psychic bomb.
