‘The Walking Dead’ drops to all-time low in ratings and viewership

“The Walking Dead” may live up to its name after the series hit an all-time low in viewership on Sunday. The episode “Omega” averaged 4.54 million viewers and was the lowest in the show’s history.
]The zombie series, which is in ninth season, is considered the top-ranked cable show excluding sports, but the ratings have fallen over the last two seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actors Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, longtime stars of the program, both left the series earlier in the season.
The show was given the green light for a 10th season according to The Wrap.

What is making The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead turn into shit? Literally for both shows the seasons are getting worse and worse with each season.

who fucking cares

>What is making The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead turn into shit
Forced diversity, nothing happens, main stars are gone

Killing Carl must be one of the most inept decisions ever made by a tv executive.

Yeah I dropped it when I had that spoiled for me.

I also am willing to bet people grew too tired of the shit dialogue. They sucked all the soul out of most of the characters and replaced it with WE GOTTA SURVIVE, though it was getting better in later seasons.

Also another big reason is that the whole "nobody is safe" gimmick is wearing off. And the characters they bring in to replace them don't often fill the void of the old ones.

This steaming pile of shit could only get 9 seasons in brainlet america

it has been shit since the farm, that mid-season premiere of s2 was good... after that, it was all downhill except for a few good scenes here and there.

those ratings are still better than 95% of original shows on cable

The day TWD died = Rick and Carl leaving
The day FTWD died = Nick and Troy leaving

>Forced diversity, nothing happens, main stars are gone

How to fix it: Keep diversity, amp up the action and drama with zombie tension, bring back some of the critical main characters using a twisting plot device.

Agreed. Carl was literally the most kino character in side to the show and AMC had to of made the most bone headed decision by killing with Neagan's baseball bat...fuckers.

>And the characters they bring in to replace them don't often fill the void of the old ones.

Agreed. The replacement characters have less of a soul compared to the former more grounded characters of previous stories/seasons. It's a shame too, because they always kill off all the good characters in real shit ways.

Very good point. Agree that it turned less vicision, full of dread and scary after S2

>The day TWD died = Rick and Carl leaving
>The day FTWD died = Nick and Troy leaving

explains almost exactly why the whole series took a nose dive and created a lost interest with it's main fanbase and critics.

after "drama on the farm with guest appearance by: zombies" featuring car-flippin laurie and infinite ammo herschel, i couldn't continue
my family would watch and i occasionally caught a part of an episode in season 3 but then even they dropped the whole show mid S4

I didn’t watch past s1e1
Shit show

I used to watch it religiously in the beginning. But after awhile, it just got to be the same thing over and over.

- Move to new area.
- Meet group of bad guys.
- Fight bad guys.
- Defeat bad guys.
- Move to new area and meet new group of bad guys.
- Repeat...and repeat...and repeat...

I just got bored with it.

They killed most of the main characters of Fear the Walking Dead so Morgan could become the main character. The characters left alive got a soft reboot in personality.

The show is dead.
Like fuck, season 2 and 3 were good and so different from The Walking Dead, now they're practically the same show.

I hate the fucking prick producer that got his dirty hands on FTWD and made it exactly what it was already doing with TWD.

Mad Men is over and Better Call Saul is a snooze fest, hope AMC crashes and burn.

The slow decline began way sooner after Too Far Gone, but killing Carl really was the point of no return. Rick, Maggie, Jesus, and now Michonne all left the show because of it. The cast was absolutely fed up with the show's leadership and couldn't take it anymore.

Good point.

>had to of
yikes

>What is making The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead turn into shit?

the same thing that turned most long going tv series into shit: same old boring formula. It's DBZ all over again basically.

It was always shit, but rednecks liked it because they could see themselves in it. Now with the new writers pushing even more SJW crap, and all the main characters leaving, there isn't enough draw to stay.

I actually overall like where they've been going. Not a fan of the forced diversity (especially pic related), but I think the dialogue and plots have gotten a little smarter and the episodes have gotten a heck of a lot faster. It's just that anyone who might like it for those reasons left like 4 seasons ago. It's like how microsoft edge is a serviceable browser, but will never get proper recognition because of how dogshit IE was.

it actually has higher ratings than true detective and better call saul

Remember when she knocked out the 6ft battle hardened white man with one punch?

Comic sales have dropped too it seems. Doesn't help that this Commonwealth arc is boring as hell too.

I quit watching this after season 3
I found it to be very inferior to the comics
>Rick left
What the fuck?

>It was always shit
Season 1. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty good.

The actor wanted to spend more time with his family. Plus he wanted off the sinking ship before his career drowns with it.

So they killed
>Best Asian boy
>Carl after he became not annoying
>Rick is gone
>This has been on for more than 5 seasons

Holy fuck just kill it

It's difficult to make walkers threatening any more or random group #0543 interesting.

Dwight died recently and Eugene will probably be dead next issue too.

They should have dropped the whole negan bullshit and all the retarded stuff from the comic and turned the whole group into the bad guys.
It would have made it one of the most original shows around, especially zombie shows.
Imagine the first 5 seasons being the good guys and over the course of 1 or 2 seasons they become the bad guys.
And not through some out of necessity bullshit either.
But from a fuck it, let's get ours and fuck everyone else.
Like the train station cannibals or something.
Hell, they could even make it so the ftwd cast stays good guys and both shows eventually clash.

If you watched past episode 1 of the walking dead, especially the part where rick learns he got cucked, you are everything that is wrong with the world. The people who watch this show are mentally ill.

no rick no watch

all time low doesnt mean jack shit, its still a very popular cable show

The show is so terrible that the actors on it are asking to be killed off so they can go do other things

Attached: 1520217500670.jpg (960x720, 56K)

whatever helps you sleep at night and feel better and superior

Really worth saying.

how retarded are you?

kek
The amount of autism in this post is too funny.
>something I don't like happened in this tv show
>reeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeEEEEE
>people who watch this are what's wrong with the world
Someone got one too many vaccines in quick succession before they were 3.

I think the problem is Negan became too popular and Kirkman doesn't know what direction to take the story in now that he's been out of the comic for two years. Completely understandable but you can also tell he was really one of the reasons interest in the book was pretty big.

>replying to 20 people just to be a faggot
I think you're mentally ill

Thank you. Watched episode 1, started episode 2 and dropped it when he arrived at the village

Fear the Walking Dead is shit since literally the pilot. The only show I unironically fell asleep watching. So horrible.

>I realized something in their "offseason" between the front half and back half of this season. They are in fairy tale territory. I mean, the new season started with a 7 year old girl bringing in new people to their group, to the objection of the adults. And in one of the most recent episodes, this 7 year old was doing guard duty. And it got me thinking... that would never happen in this situation. I mean, this 7 year old was born during the apocalypse. So, that means she is an apocalypse clock. She is part of a large community with tons of adults who have lived through this hell of a world for 8 years (7 plus the length of the pregnancy). So one day, all their lives led them to this same community that the 7 year old is in. Which means they have had to make prudent life and death choices consistently for 8 years, and have made the right choices so far, because they are all still alive. That shows that these adults must have some kind of common sense. So why then, do they all decide that it is in their best survival interests to let a 7 year old have so much power over their continued survival? I can't, for the life of me, think of a situation that I would say, "Hey, you know who can handle this better than anybody else I know? A 7 year old," and I'm not in a day to day struggle for survival. So why then, do these adults (not the stars who are emotionally attached to Judith) who are part of this community, give over their own safety to a 7 year old? It's not like the community is lacking capable, able bodied adults who can better handle guard duty.

>I mean this is a world where physical prowess is a benefit to your survival. And being 7 years old, what happens when she encounters a walker without a gun on her hip? She cant reach their heads with a knife or screwdriver. And if she is constantly using a gun, there will times that is the worst thing you can do. Sound is what lures these things to a target most of the time. I get it, she is Rick's "daughter," but that should not be a good reason for the adults in her colony to take orders for her. Or to depend on her for their survival. The whole thing is just horrible writing.

What is the story in show about where Maggie went?

Morgan infected everyone on FTWD except for Nick. Gimple fucked this show so much

You missed out. FTWD season 3 is unironically kino and the best season in the walking dead universe. They royally fuck it up in season 4 though

Last season she met a woman most likely from the Commonwealth, did some trades with her and now she and her child are with them.

In season 8, emissaries of what's assumed to be The Commonwealth were keeping eyes on Hilltop. Impressed, they met with Maggie and gave her a book full of knowledge on agriculture and construction, in hopes of helping fledgling settlements like them build themselves up to become something greater. Sometime in the timeskip after Rick was gone, something happened with Daryl and Michonne that made Maggie decide she didn't want her baby at Hilltop anymore, so she went with that group back to where ever they came from.

Just make it the Negan show.

Rumor says Alpha will kill Negan kek

Also, their leader's guards are sexy twins, that's all I care about 2bh.

I wonder if you could make some kind of graph displaying how woke the show became to how many viewers it lost.

Attached: The Rolling Turd.png (1018x330, 5K)

They really fucked themselves over by killing Carl. The show might have been serviceable if it became about Carl struggling to lead and take care of his two young siblings. Negan would have had a lot more impact in a storyline like that.

It's too formulaic. We've seen variations on all these plots before now. Nothing is ever really resolved. Nothing is ever really revealed. Nothing ever really advances all that much.

At this point, I'd rather they just close it out on a high note, with the communities shown to be on the road to truly remaking a stable society and maybe giving us a Walking Dead anthology series, where we see new characters in stand-alone stories set at all points along the timeline. It would free up writers to tell more interesting stories.

Walking dead was cool

Walking pozz sucks

I never got why people liked the walking dead. I saw the first episode and it ended with a guy riding a horde into a zombie infested city. then i turned it off because that was stupid.

I did catch some episodes during a marathon once and it seemed to be the same thing over and over. people walk around forrest, fight zombies, argue with each other, repeat.

The show seems to not be about the zombies but the human drama, and they seem to have killed off the humans the audience actually cared about.

There also seems to be no pay off or explanation or back story to why the zombie thing is happening, what happend to the rest of the world, will the zombies ever go away, or how the show will end

I'm so glad I didn't start watching this shit in first place.

they killed off the humans the audience actually cared about.
And they give no pay off to the zombie question.
Then in a desperate move they went full pozz by trying to do sjw marketing.

later seasons dragged on for too long

I miss Lee

I can't comprehend how anyone could have continued watching this piece of shit show after season 2, it was so hilariously bad that it's still my choice of the worst season of TV I have ever watched a good half decade later, possibly because of how much it butchered the potential the first season had. And somehow it's on its NINTH season now. It's equal parts funny and depressing.

>where we see new characters in stand-alone stories set at all points along the timeline
I just want a zombie or apocalypse show to do this.
I don't care if it's crawling dead or not.
A show with a main story arc and every season is covering a story of a person or people getting by with some happy and some sad endings and maybe a season where the new season runs into the more popular season before it.
No more of this long drawn out bullshit with tons of filler to milk charcters as long as possible.
As well as the inevitability of characters leaving due to health or end of contracts etc.

This game made me cry real life tears

>make the show about zombie apocalypse
>all the enemies are just generic psycho villains #1,#2,#3

There's a certain part that really got to me and I teared up.

I'd risk a statement that at this point if AMC would announce cancellation of the show, it would cause less sorrow among people than Telltale's cancellation of their TWD games

>Only 2 characters left from S1
>No more Rick, Glenn, Abraham, Shane and so on
>Wasted all the good stuff from the comics in the early seasons, especially the governor's arc that was butchered beyond repair
>S2 is way too fucking long
>Boring shit since s6
>Daryl making Tyreese and Abraham useless as right hands

I've heard this headline about every season since the Governor. It was never good, past season one.

Firing Darabont was a mistake.

Also it should've been an HBO series with 8-10 episodes per season max.

Iv just started reading the comic and im actually shocked at how different and better it is

Characters and story is so much better in the comic, and the relationships are different too
Can really see how much they stretched the material to fill a season too

they replace him with his sister right? kek

This. It became so fucking stale

Yeah lamest shit ever. Carl's a badass in the comics.

They literally killed him so they didn't have to pay him an adult salary because he was close to turning 18.

fp fucking bp

Fear season 3 was the best season of both shows.
