Is there a thing where choirs get lazy and make women sing as the tenor because they can't find a man to do it?
I don't know why people let women sing in choirs in leading positions, their voice sounds bad and it makes me angry to hear them
It should be a man singing
Men's voices are more beautiful and sing better
Anyway I don't know much about singing but still, that's my opinion

Based young boy castration promoter

Was Boulez the last great composer?

There will come a day when all pedophiles are burned alive. I'll make sure you're one of them.

Dude I'm just saying if you have a role for a tenor give it to a man not a woman especially if it's a song about God
Women aren't suited for that
Yes that means hiring boys to sing instead of women
No I don't support castrati

"great" in what sense

great meaning being among the most highly accomplished in the art of musical composition. duh

Then no, not at all in fact.

As in terms of impact/relevance/influence

IN that case, then like I said in the previous thread, you have all of these people, and many more, who are still alive:

Steve Reich
Helmut Lachenmann
Brian Ferneyhough
Philip Glass
Christian Wolff
Gyorgy Kurtag
Arvo Part
Wolfgang Rihm
Terry Riley
Sofia Gubaidulina
La Monte Young
Salvatore Sciarrino
Alexander Goehr
Michael Finnissy
Vinko Globokar
John Adams
Rolf Riehm
Kaija Saariaho
George Benjamin
William Bolcom
James Dillon
Robin Holloway
Tristan Murail
Chris Dench
Gordon Mumma
Hans Abrahamsen
Mark Andre
Richard Barrett
Peter Eotvos
Georg Friedrich Haas
Magnus Lindberg
Meredith Monk

Along with other composers who outlived Boulez like

Harrison Birtwistle
Peter Maxwell Davies
Frederic Rzewski
Krzysztof Penderecki
Alvin Lucier
Louis Andriessen

and others

all terrible

user was asking for in terms of influence, not your personal taste BITCH

also in terms of influence alone Grisey and Murail are pretty important in their influence on younger composers

OKAY

i was going to say no, but after seeing all the composers listed on and , i'm going to say yes.

Boulez sucks

Liszt

youtube.com/watch?v=vValttFImeM

Liszt sucks mad fucking dick.

>Le monte young

mozart dick suckers versus bach dick suckers the thread.

none of those composers have even been mentioned yet (until you).

15 minutes into that 'Daniel Howell' video on why YT sucks. I can really start to see why TwoSet degenerated from 'music with comedy' to 'two Aussie Chinks does X random shit.'

And in a way that kind of scares me as my own shitty creative type. Am I doing what I want or doing it for (you)s?

Post cancerous music

So why is Frescobaldi important? I am pretty uneducated in regards to listening to classical music and my knowledge
of music theory is decent at best and very limited at worst. I am very interested in the barque period because it sounds amazing and is generally very pleasant to the ear, so what distinguishes Frescobaldi from his other contemporaries?

ockeghem was claimed by webern.

who the hell is webem?

his focus on instrumental music, until then the focus was in vocal music

Strauss was the last great composer. Odd that he came after the great modernists, since he was the last romantic.

No prob mozart, cage was simply a walmart satie

he's german so it's a masterpiece

Why isn't Schoenberg in your top 5?

all of music is but a footnote to petzold

Because I don't think he used dissonance for the right reasons.

Yeah, but he didn't really come after the modernists. He was there before them (and would probably be counted as one at the turn of the century) and then had the audacity to live fifty years into the twentieth century

Paganini because he plays like he has 4 arms

wagner is the dark vador of music

>my favorite composer is Ravel
What would you think of this person

My ex gf

Well, it can be separated into two critiques: the sentiment of his personality, and the technical features of his art. I never liked Schoenberg's use of dissonance even when he was still using it how it should be, earlier in his career. But his technical emancipation of the dissonance I find completely contrary to the potential of dissonance, even though he maintained he was doing the same thing as his early work with it just matured.

I'm working a short classical piece dubbed The Theme of Hurin (from lotr)
