The Jedi and the republic are completely incompetent. The empire and sith have proven themselves to be infinitely resourceful: able to logistically support massive superweapons and thousands of ships every single movie despite taking huge losses everytime. In 30 years the republic and the Jedi manage to muster like a dozen fucking fighters meanwhile the empire has a new superweapon and way more ships. Who exactly has proven themselves to be more capable? Certainly not the bumbling Jedi who keep barely managing to kamakaze their way to next week with a republic that apparently does nothing and has no army and needs to rely on magic monks and clones to defend them and are completely incapable of supporting themselves. Meanwhile after you do your crazy mission that barely saves the day again, the empire already has a new fleet and a new superweapon and all that sacrifice was for nothing. Its an inferior system desperately holding on against a clearly superior organization. The empire is frankly incredible when considering what they’ve accomplished, and a single sith was more capable than an entire order of Jedi.

That kind of makes sense and kind of doesn't. The first jedis Annie ever meets save a planet from starvation and all he does with Obi is save countless people from harm. Yeah, it's against the code to buy slaves but is Anakin really the guy who listens to others? By the time he goes to Tatooine he has been banging Padme for months without feeling any guilt about doing so. And it's not like the other jedis would know, master Syphilis bought a literal army and Dooku joined forces with an ancient evil that wasn't known to exist at the time. The films never discuss the possibility of leaving the order but really, why bother if you can do whatever you want in some faraway galaxy without anyone giving a fuck
