Not only is this the best best film of the 90's...

Not only is this the best best film of the 90's, it also has one of the best soundtracks and music cues that have yet to be matched.

Boogie Nights is the total package.

My wife's got an ass in her cock in the driveway.

Yeah I'm surprised this isn't talked about on Yea Forums to the same level as like a Goodfellas

felt like a watered down Goodfellas imitation. still good, but yknow...
also a bit pointless.

OP, I like it too but BN has the same problem that all of PTA's movies have. There's only TWO TYPES of characters; the cool calm sage and the blithering idiot. None of the people in his movies feel real, just caricatures!!!FACT!!!

This movie isn't the best of the 90's you fucking zoomer

Daniel Plainview is a pretty based man, though

Why is the cultural difference between '77 and '97 so much more different than '97 and '17?

Goodfellas has no female characters, Boogie Night is a better film

100% agree

I disagree it's just harder to compare because we don't yet have nostalgic movies and shows hyperbolising the extremes of late 2010s culture yet, like we do for the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Give it a few years and you'll see how massively different the late 90s are compared to the late 10s, mostly due to social media and phones. Think about the fashion and music differences.

The difference between 2007 and 1997 is bigger than the difference between 77 and 97 my guy. 9/11 and the iPhone changed everything.

Are you retarded?

Ever hear of the internet?

its the best film in human history.

People forget that 1997 is pretty much the unofficial start of the 2000s. Johhny Bravo, King of the Hill, high def movies, 2000s type cars and the internet were all established things by then, and the grunge/80s leftovers of the early 90s were a thing of the past

Nina Hartley still escorts to this day.

Why haven't you fucked her yet?

But they could already notice a big difference between the 70's and 90's in '97. Boogie nights, That 70's show, Almost Famous, the list goes on.
They even saw the 80's as being like another dimension back then.

I really love Boogie Nights -- or loved it. I watched it repeatedly too many times and got burnt out on it.

But, it is a great film. The pacing is great; the directing is great; the music is great; it's just an all-around great film.

Overrated.

Nah

it's probably just as different.

the difference is though that since 1997 the internet has been a constant thing. the constant, never ending stream of new information, fashions, trends, etc. makes is much harder to distinguish important milestones, which makes it harder to differentiate the beginning from the end.

this problem will never go away now. there are no real "decades" anymore, it's all just one long stream. of mostly shit.
