This is not a, this is not a Swan, swan song This is not a, this is not a Swan, swan song We just gotta, we just gotta hold on tonight This is not a, this is not a swan song, swan song Swan dive Yeah, it's a new life
lets be honest, how many of you" "haters" obsessively in every thread are really pathetic 3rd world SEAmonkeys looking for any type of (YOU) attention away from yor miserable father-uncle raped life?
how many of you are roasties with useless dead fish stink vaginas so massively and morbidly obese your only true comfort zone is in these thread where you pretend to hve some semblance of power over anything?
Probably going to download it in 4k, even though my Movie Computer can't play it, and none of my PC monitors are 4k. But I think it should. Level of detail warrants it, I think. Plus I want that qt face in 4k.

My friend took me to see this last night - hadn't seen any trailers or the anime its based on.
Overall it was a pretty good action movie, I would say 4/5. By far the best anime adaptation I've ever seen.
My only complaint is that they compressed so much story into a couple hours - it could have easily gone 3 hours without any real problems. I hope it makes a decent ROI so I can see the sequel because it got me interested in her character and the world.
Honestly I half wish it would be a little slower. At this rate we'll have general #3000 by the end of the month, then it's hard to tell when we actually had the general - instead of one a day, you can go "oh this is general 356 so we've been having them for a whole year now".

It will slow down, it's just people are honestly very hyped because of this movie. Then there are those who have waifu'd Alita. And because of this, there's those s o y boys who just wanna fun post here making it even crazier.
I think most people are waiting to see how it does run wise, if we can potentially get a sequel or not. I know I'm waiting in anticipation.

It's pretty good for an anime adaptation. Not the best but pretty good. Just saw it the other day. The dude behind Brotherhood of the Wolf made it.
My point still stands. It was barely marketed, yet still connected with an audience. Whereas this is vastly over-marketed and isn't connecting with an audience.

I loved this movie. Saw it twice, in Dolby Cinema then (true)IMAX 3D. 3D makes a world of difference for the action scenes.
My biggest gripe is that some of the scenes just move way too fast. Theres barely any time to see the characters react. For example in pic related. This is such a great shot of Alita in her first battle yet it goes by so fast that it's very easy to miss.
Also another time I can think of is when Alita is outside the bar and she starts petting the street dog. Hugo barely has a reaction to it. I'm not saying it's entirely absent but the shot of him reacting is again way too short.
Also the last 15 min is very rushed. Everything else was awesome.
no use though, it's flopping as of current. 150 mil is not enough to even break even.
it's their fault anyway, trying to cater to capeshit instead of translating it properly and making a gritty, brutal dystopian cyberpunk for adults. shit, deadpool and logan proved you could do mature ratings and have success.
Ryder Powell
novel adaption =/= anime adaption

Thank god, they have no idea what they're missing out on. There are still times where I'll think about various points in the movie, and either get a little wet in the eyes or get my hair standing up. I don't watch a lot of movies but this is the first one that has done that.
this shit is messing with my head It's been hovering between 59 / 60 for days I swear someone is trying hard to keep it just rotten that audience score is insane though

Think about how many tickets have sold vs how many people have left a rating. People only ever leave ratings when they feel strongly about something. Thus, the vast majority aren't leaving the theater with anything other than "yea, that happened" style responses.

Capeshit movies have the same reaction. Normal people don't care too much about anything and they only come to see capeshit due to brand loyalty despite the same corporate boardroom formula being thrown at them again and again. Alita does not have that brand yet.

Even without posting in every single general, or caring about replying to (You)r naysaying ilk, just the numbers floated already tell Alita isn't the kind of movie to flop in China. I just like to wait because it's actually true Alita has been out for mere worldwide days.

no numbers have been floated though. There are no estimates. Literally every time a movie does well in a region, the numbers are accurately projected by now.

FYI kinofags, alita ends up killing ido. so dont get too attached.
you are blind then, or more likely just projecting the figures you would like to not see
tell me, how much does Alita needs to make in China to qualify as a success in that market? baby mode
easy mode if you answer that, tell me then what hollywood movies made more than that without already being existing film brands or franchises in China, especially since even this adaptation isn't called GUNNM
hard mode then, simply smile like Edward Norton at movie end and wait for theAlita sequel/2 week actuals like actual people
damn you for reminding me those existed now I have to buy a bunch of them
Lincoln Reed
I like how none of this is projections of alita's box office performance in china.
Brayden Kelly
We want to keep out the Injuns. The Spaniards are welcome. We live in a society. We can't have savages running around scalping people and chopping up bodies.
Actually, the easy logical conclusion for Alita that doesn't need $400 million to be successful would be a new anime series. Anime only costs like $200k max per episode, maybe $250k if you're KyoAni or Production IG or something. But recouping $2.5m is much easier and quicker, Jim could literally fund a whole show himself. Even a hand-drawn feature length anime film is like a maximum of $30m, that's Ghibli budget territory.
and it's not like it's needed, just keep bumping generals while pretending others shouldn't
and all forgiven about not answering anything, simply stay tuned
Luis Adams

I like how you're just proving the point that if the projections were good, you'd be spamming them non-stop.
Andrew Gonzalez
Of course, but you can produce an anime series or movie basically in no time at all and for relative to the this movie, peanuts. Or at least do a series of OVAs, maybe a four month turn around per episode, each episode about 40 minutes long.
Not really since I already mentioned since the beginning I just don't post in every thread let alone spam, why would I care about "projections" when by the time I normally check if somebody replied to me people like you bumped 3 more of these threads past limit and I could simply check actual news? Like very recentlynhow Alita made more in previews than RPO?
Adrian Rogers
>he continues to prove the points against him

In Chinese it’s literally gun-dream. Which is what GUNNM always stood for. But that’s just Hong Kong. In China it’s called A-Li-Ta and in Japan it’s Arita.

Plus Hugo getting shredded by the defense ring has a different effect in the manga and OVA. In the movie it's almost kind of goofy due to the CGI and the music.
Thank you based boatman
Noah Sullivan
I felt like the 3D added much needed depth to the action scenes so the characters didnt blend into the background during the fast paced action
Levi Brown
I got 'The Art and Making of the Movie' book today. It's great but the Alita concepts made me realize what the final Alita design is missing and might have helped balance the uncanny eyes: floof. I've seen the movie 4 times and will probably see it again but it's missing floof.
Nathaniel Cooper
I have seen it in 2d and 3d and can confirm what you say. This is one movie that needs to be viewed in 3d. 2d is too flat. Whether its action scenes, sweeping panoramas or just interior shots the 3d gives an incredible amount of depth and clarity.
Jaxon Long
Floof? Her classic big hair?
Oliver Walker
so what you're really saying is the flop is already in for china
Josiah Smith
Any realistic action figures that aren't Funko Pops or this goofy looking shit yet? Besides the expensive statue and Hot Toys dollie.
I'm prolly gonna get the movie art book in a few months when it's only 40 bucks or so. I knew nothing about the series before seeing the film, but I'm going to start reading the original works on my Kindle next week.
I wouldn't have seen it if not for my black friend suggesting it at brunch. He has literally not watched a single anime outside of DBZ, but thought the visuals looked cool as hell and that we should see it instead of "Green Book." Normies are not afraid of it.

I have watched it twice already.
Loved it really, never thought a heroine could be this cute. Funny thing is that the critics would have loved it if Alita had a girlfriend instead of Hugo.
>tfw no super strong android waifu to protect and care for you
Wrong. The embargo on gwailo movies is over and there is a lot of hype on chink social media over Alita BECAUSE of that Earth space ship movie. A lot of chinks wanna watch it just to see how Hollywood CGI measures up to their chink CGI. t. knower

It's fun to look at but it has the logic and pacing of a Saturday morning cartoon.
Asher Nelson
Well James Cameron's name carries a lot of weight in China because of Avatar and the Titanic 3D re release (chinks never got to see the original) so for chinks, Cameron is THE big Hollywood special effects man and chinks love their Hollywood special effects. It is being heavily shilled that BAA is a Cameron production (director is pretty much being ignored) and a whole lot of Chinese celebrities are shilling for it just because of Cameron's star power over in China. Also overseas, BAA is pacing around 5% better than Ready Player One did last year and that movie earned 218 million from China alone.
Tao Piao Piao (the lead Chink ticket app) is predicting an open of 13.5 million for Alita and it has scored 7.5/10 critically (the spaceship Earth movie was a 7.9/10 comparatively). This isn't taking into account Japan who will likely turn out in droves to see a Hollywood take on one of their manga that has really good buzz surrounding it.

Tbh a lot of it is national pride. Because Cameron is such a huge icon in China for Western blockbusters, a lot of Chinks will see Alita just to compare the effects of the two and see if their own movie industry has finally suprassed Hollywood. By pure coincidence, Fox picked the absolute best time to release this movie in China (right after the Chinese New Year embargo when the appetite for Hollywood is at the highest and also people want to compare the recently released Chinese scifi blockbuster). Alita will break even pretty easily.

If only I were so lucky. There's only one anywhere near me, and it's ALWAYS a hairs breadth away from closing down from lack of funds. Too many boomers dying off or retiring, they usually don't like spending a lot of money. It happens every Chinese New Year because that's when a lot of Chinks get time off of work so the Communist Party wants that disposable income to go to the Chinese movie industry rather than Hollywood. It lasts about a week and not being allowed to watch Hollywood movies only makes Chinks want to see them even more because the Chink movie industry is kind of shit.

Chinks only care if the actors look attractive. See the Last Jedi and how Rose was the most hated character in China mainly because she was ugly despite being Asian. Also how most of the popular actors over there are chosen more for looks than acting ability. Not even lying when I'm saying that Chinks have a massive fetish for attractive white people. The women literally import the semen of western men en masse to have "cute" mixed babies with blonde hair/blue eyes/whatever.

Are you also physically fit and intelligent as well as attractive? No smoking or history of genetic diseases in your family? They are very picky. Thanks to the CCP not having many moral boundaries, they are straight up gonna go full eugenics at some point with semen importation and CRISPR gene editing of embyros as well as the forced hybridization of the Han chinese majority with the Uighur turkic minority (mainly through giving incels free Uighur brides).
