Is stand-up comedy and satire in general just dying off? Literally you go on YouTube, Netflix or any other streaming service and there's substantially not a whole lot past 2017 when all the Harvey Weinstein shit hit. All the comedians seem to feel touchy and sensitive to every politically correct word, phrase or topic like they'll end up in the news or some shit.
Why is comedy like walking on egg shells now? What happened to laughing at one's self?
I don't know. I know that I don't really care. Theres always going to be a Louis CK style comedian to say some wild shit. Society will decide if they are a star but the material will still be there for you if you want it.
Juan Howard
maybe political correctness goes in cycles, they'll probably be some lenny bruce esque edgelord rolling through sometime
Nathaniel Allen
Maybe idk, what I do know is Rogan has spawned such a shitty group of imitators and hanger ons who clique everyone out of the LA scene. They all have shitty podcasts with similar setups too, niggas setting up franchises
Alexander Ortiz
hows owen benjamin?
Julian Miller
Because you can't make a joke anymore. Everything is sacred, everyone is ready to be offended, media and twitter will pile on you the second you step out of line. You can't make comedy in this atmosphere.
I kinda liked the kike humor era of Mel Brooks but it seems we won't be going back to that until society collapses and is rebuilt again.
Ayden Jackson
Why do new comedians feel the need to endlessly reiterate shit? GET ON WITH IT FOR FUCKS SAKE.
Grayson Collins
What's up with comedians thinking that swearing and describing lewd sex acts shocks anybody in this era where everybody has seen HBO and LiveLeak and PornHub?
Blake Williams
cringe and blue pilled
Sebastian Jenkins
actually kekd at the tooth story
Cooper Davis
they can't say anything actually edgy so they just swear a lot to make it seem like they aren't gigantic babies
you'll notice that the most sensitive people online use the most vulgar language
Joshua Cruz
Love Stav, despite his politics and laugh. I wanna see him and DiPaolo get together.
Zachary Wood
I think it is dying off. Louis CK is a fag in a way, but I still think his stand up is better than most. Sad he probably he’s probably not gonna have another special. I don’t think the genre was built to last though. Look at the classic stand up guys like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Eddy Murphy. It’s pretty cringe and lame. And in general, stand up’s only gotten a little better since the 20th century.
Michael Cook
Because they've oversaturated the market. I guess it's just cheap for them and easy money. There are literal who's that are getting "specials" on Netflix, HBO, Comedy Central or whatever. People are losing interest (except for big names). I don't know if it's just the past 10-15 years but stand-up has gotten extremely crowded. Everyone seemed to try and make it with stand-up. There are a ton of ""comedians"" out there with podcasts, shitty series no one has heard about, specials no one has seen etc.
It's not dying because people aren't saying "fuck niggers". Most stand up comedians haven't really been edgy. It's dying because everyone is getting exposure despite not being really funny or consistently funny or even going at it.
Jaxson Williams
I also don’t care. Comedians get stale as fuck when you get older.
Aaron Moore
Oh thats rich from a bunch of thin skinnied faggots that started: INTERRACIAL
Robert Bennett
comedy is so trash now only Dave Chappelle can be free
ON the contrary, I was very pleased to see that Louis CuCK KING is still obsessed with black cock and spent 8 minutes talking about his latest foray into the INTERRACIAL BREEDING GROUNDS
Jose Sullivan
That Ken Jeong special was the worst standup I’ve seen since TJ Miller’s HBO special he did right before he had his breakdown.
Leo Diaz
Ugh, I watched that the other day. It was just him listing things he's done while the audience whoops. Are there any good Netflix specials?
Grayson Bell
That man is doing a shitload of damage to asian actors.
Dylan Bennett
Stand up Comedy is lowest tier for comedy. Comedy writers and comedy actors are the only true comedians be it for TV show, cartoon, etc
Ryan Brown
It's the Californian hegemony. New York never really recovered after 9/11.
Sebastian Young
New York stand-ups are about as stupid to be honest. 90% of them still seem to view being on SNL as the ultimate prize. Pretty cringe.
Bentley Lopez
true. everyone forgets about the jet that flew into the comedy cellar.
Connor Ramirez
Yea I have no desire to watch any comedy special by anybody.
Landon Peterson
Did you know he was in The Hangover?
Jaxon Robinson
There's a lot of crossover there. Many writers tour during hiatus.
Daniel Rodriguez
HBO had a commercial the other day for some black chick who screams about while privilege. That was her comedy act. Stand up comedy can suck my dick. It used to be about trying to make you laugh instead of about trying to tell you how to think
Ryan Hughes
You can watch a girl suck off a donkey on the Internet but saying the word faggot on stage is controversial
There's still tons of stand up shows done they just don't end up staying on places like youtube probably because they have a decent bit of security to prevent people recording their shows. It's the only way to avoid people putting all their stuff on youtube and making it impossible to continue doing the same routine.
Bigger issue I think is that people are bored by a lot of the stand up done since we have better topical humor than we used to due to people being able to find all sort of comedians on twitter, youtube and elsewhere that can be more entertaining.
Kikes realized being funny is too powerful in this hyper-connected world. Trump won the presidency by being funny as fuck. As a funny man myself, you don't even have to be right a lot of the time if you are funny.
