This one was always sad to me. The kid/guy who drew this described how when his best friend got cancer, before he died the chemo made him lose weight causing his fingers to look shriveled. Instead of realizing this the comic artist interpreted his hand losing weight as his fingers getting longer and for some reason believed it was a magical crystal causing it.

Figuring out the strange childhood event or traumatic experience that caused these are truly amazing. I can usually imitate some crazy mental gymnastics to figure out why people have any number of fetishes.
