No.

Yes.

I used to stay up on Saturday nights to watch this and old Doctor Who on PBS.
I miss those times.

what is it?

I've tried watching it a couple times and it just falls flat for me.

it was good up until kochansky

Cat?

Why are the rd threads always posted at 9am lmao.
anyway,
GAZPACHO SOUP

Yeh the humor took a nosedive. A shame cause she was hot.

>what is it?
a white hole?

nothing topped Season 6 was pure kino.

i find it interesting that the cast was full of comedians but the dancer is the most consistently funny guy in the commentary
chris barry is only funny when he is doing an impersonation

Definitely this.

>your mum calls you Rimmer?

season 7 still has alot to like. season 8 tho... somewhere there's an alternative universe where they got the budget to do a movie after season 6

Seasons 4, 5 and 6 were all kino imo.

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast

>that episode where Rimmer is on his own personal hell planet
>they go in to rescue him

>"You'd risk your lives for ME!?"
>"Of course! Your part of the crew!"

Maximum bro moment.

is that the one where all of the parts of his personality that died are buried and there is a baby tombstone for charm?

they built for sure, as above user said a movie after 6 would have been perfect. show may have even ended but we could have a had a movie every other year. I also liked the aesthetics of S7.
I still need to watch S8 onwards what are we on now?

Yep that's the one. All the metaphors for his psyche. Like his honor died at age 12. What a brutal childhood

Not aged well

So, what is it?

>that season 3 episode in the video game where Rimmer ruins it for everyone because his mental state wont allow nice things to happen to him

Fuck off zoomer.

Must be hard being this much of a pleb

5 is pretty weak. 3 is my favourite.

Season 13 when?

>you will never be a kid staying up on Friday nights to watch this and Shooting Stars ever again

I liked Back to Earth

disgusting

>six good series
>then three shit series
>then it somehow started getting good again
How did this happen? Has any TV show in history ever done this before?

I want to go back.

Is the Blu-ray worth it? I've read it's not exactly a remaster, which given the age and not being shot on film it's not a surprise.

>got rid of Kochanski
>started writing the show as a comedy again instead of a drama

When I'm really depressed or just feeling flat, Red Dwarf is usually a great go-to choice. The audience laughter, the lack of focus necessary to enjoy the scenes, the recurring gags, the (sometimes) varying settings, the action.

Thank you based science fiction nerds

Every episode in season 4, 5 and 6 is a 10/10.

>ywn be the guy who had the creativity and humour to imagine rimmer riding a crocodile in the sky that bites some guys head

feels impossible lads

I love season 7 and it gets a lot of unwarranted hate. Season 8 is the worse out of the old series.

>the behind the scenes documentary that details how horrible it was filming on a cold beach in england

based. i lost the youtube links or they got removed, but it was entertaining.

Well it's much better than DVD, have DTS sound and many extras. It's not something amazing but you can't expect better with show like this. Read about TOS and TNG remasters, it costs millions and only give losses to the channel, though its much more popular. If you're a fan then blu-ray is worth it imo

do americans 'get' red dwarf? they seem to not get any british comedy until its been turned into something a lot worse

DWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYNE DIBBLEY

Am I imagining things, or was the brief alternate dwarf crew in the despair squid episode based on the proposed US version of Red Dwarf?

They did try to get a pilot going for a US version i think some scenes are on youtube. It was bad.
I don't think the US could do something like it. US Rimmer and US Lister would have just shot each other. The humor would not of worked because, they are forced to live with one another and Americans are all about that personal space and free speech.
Granted it could have had more of a parody of the US action space marine. But i think the right choice was to kill it.

janes leeves plus terry farrel

>black people
DR.OPPED

>hating Lister because he's black
>not because he's a scouser
Nice try

Crag Charles is more scouse than he is black.
I bet he has a old car up with no tires up on bricks in his front yard.

There's been interlacing issues with some of the seasons and some fans are trying to get the BBC to do replacement disks.

the moment I loved the show

The best episode is the Despair Squid. fight me!!

You twonk

Some of the Rimmer centric ones are the better than Back to Reailty. Marooned and Holoship are at least on par with it. Better than life is just the best one of the lot.

Time Slides is better

SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

only season 1 and 2 are really good

The commentaries are kino. If you've never watched the episodes with commentary you're missing out.
