well i don't have a ES-8 because you can't use it for stereo. yes you could pair some of the mono loops together, and live in patch mode, but there's no panning feature on the FX loops, despite having stereo outputs, and so it doesn't really have any utility for me because i only use mono pedals for compressor and boost. everything else is stereo and as far as i know there are no large switchers that can accommodate that. feel free to show me one.

If you're talking about sound that's probably true, but to be honest with you the best part of a guitar with figured woods is seeing the tears that run down chico in the favela's face whenever they see a nice American guitar. That alone is well worth the extra cost.

i would fucking love an fx loop switcher that lets me re-arrange and send midi commands to like 8 stereo fx loops and 2 or 3 mono ones. i wouldn't mind wet-dry controls either, that would be fucking baller. no such thing exists off the shelf and i don't think i have it in me to build one, because a lot of shit has to go into buffering and shielding that kind of thing.

i half agree, the wood doesn't affect toan too much but it absolutely does affect resonance/feel
some guitars ring like bells acoustically and that's what you want, you can feel it and it's so nice
and that's a combination of the neck joint and the woods

it makes all the difference in the world
