>Sviatoslav Richter always said his three favorite composers were Richard Wagner, Claude Debussy, and Fryderyk Chopin. Richter called Wagner “the incarnation of all the arts unified - music, painting, literature, drama – and I like him all the more because he never composed a piano work.”

best Die Schöpfung?

The earlier Mozart piano sonatas are just better

Richter is a hack, you can't find a recording of that motherfucker without coughs in the background.

Karajan

That's because he hated doing studio recordings.

Can we just pretend the Romantic era never happened today (exception for Wagner)?

Yeah just like that, good job

I wouldn't mind that.

Can we just pretend the Romantic era never happened today (exceptions for Fauré and Scriabin)?

>Fauré and Scriabin
Sorry, who? I've never heard of those losers before.

All three are great

Did Richter record any Wagner transcriptions?

I agree: we, today, and exceptions are all wonderful things

Nope, he just did them for friends. Not even any Liszt/Wagner. He did record this piano piece though:

Was apparently an unused motif for Tristan that Wagner found many years later, polished up and gave to Cosima as a present.

Rach was a better melodist than Fagkovsky.

Both shit. Listen to real music (bach and before, ives and after)

>The work's original title was Scherzo in D minor, and it was written for Hans von Bülow, who had appointed Strauss assistant conductor of the Meiningen Court Orchestra.[1] However, von Bülow considered it a "complicated piece of nonsense" and refused to learn it. He said the piano part was "Lisztian" and "unplayable", particularly for a pianist with a small handspan (Strauss says that von Bülow could barely reach an octave).
>Bülow was one of the greatest pianists of his era
Small hand bros we're going home.

youtube.com/watch?v=2OPvWFDzDlA

That's fucking retarded.

I don't like it either but we just gotta come to terms with what taste is.

Don't ever insult Haydn and Mozart again.

You know I'm right

Feels so good to have an IQ of 150, autism, and taste enough to listen to Haydn

I like Schoenberg
Janáček
Monteverdi

Who else would you recommend?

a bullet through the back of your head

Bartók? More like Fartók

Moshart
Gaydn
Peethoven
Fagner
Gaysualdo
Trashmaninov
Tchaikovspee

classical got shit in the late 1700s through to the 1820s it then started to pick up a bit around the 1830s but fell off again in terms of quality around 1835. it was then a fucking eon before it started to reclaim its glory in the form of none other than our main man. Debussy. he brought the classic sound of baroque to a new audience and revolutionised the art of evoking mental images with sonorous impressionism.
tight debussy was only bested by none other than SATIE. who could play the sound of your best memories with such a light touch that it sounded like a explosion inside your mind. a flash bang of pure sonic beauty. alright peace out.

Bach
