Did the show ever explain how she and Beetlejuice met?

Did the show ever explain how she and Beetlejuice met?
Are we to assume he tried to marry her like he did in the movie?

Who cares. I only watched this show for the Blonde Alpha Bitch Cheerleader the one with the enormously high income, rotten attitude and absolute hatred and contempt for poor and ugly people

only reason why i watch any show is for characters like this and there is one in every show.

yes

go on...

>popular girls are always the means ones

But, that's not true.

Yes but I won't accept anything less then the spoiledest of spoiled brats who comes home to their mansion just wrecks and destroys huge chunks of it and then complaining about how its all poor people's fault she is so goddamn angry

The Princess Morebuckes, the Eliza's from Craig of the Creek, the Frufru's from Harvey Street Kids

Kids who will just angerly rip up carpet while screaming because they didn't get 12 ponies for their half and quarter birthdays

but why are his finger tips red?

Attached: Beetlejuicebio.png (844x633, 574K)

why do I get the feeling the crew has drawings of him and lydia screwing hidden somewhere in a vault

You think she ever gave BJ a BJ?

Cuz he loves Lydia every day of the month.

this basically a canon pedo relationship
doesnt matter if hes a ghost

Just because the ship is popular doesn't mean the show "confirms" it. That's like saying Johnny Bravo and Susie are a canon pedo ship.

The difference is Johnny never wanted to hang out with Susie

Two cartoon characters that are different ages and also friends doesn't make it "canon pedo ship", either.

Attached: tumblr_pnrhmnYFWR1qisc9uo2_500.gif (500x196, 67K)

ralph never tried to marry vanellope

The show is only loosely linked to the movie. Otherwise Barbara and Adam would still be sticking around the house Lydia lives in. It may as well be two different canons, like how the Broadway Musical is a different version of the story.

animated lydia was my first cartoon crush

>what is friendship

I remember trying to watch this show as a child only to be chastised by my family because the show was "about devil worship".

Attached: sadlife.jpg (480x260, 34K)

>calls her babes
>they celebrate an anniversary
>gets jealous over victor taking her attention away
>fawns over her
>other 2 adaptions have him canonically attracted to her, say she gets him, and wants to marry her
>that one episode where lydia disguises herself by just wearing a veil and beetlejuice is immediately attracted to her

the last one is straight up canon pedophillia like you cant convince me that a little 12 year old can just wear a mask and trick somebody into thinking shes older. this show was freaking weird. they only got away with it because he was a ghost

It was a different time

He was always treated as an imaginary best friend who was obsessed with his human friend. No different than any of the characters in Foster's Home who were obsessed with finding a child friend, except they didn't look humanoid so your brain was able to find it less "creepy" despite the exact same goals.

Did you grow up to hate religion too?
You know i think the fact that ive become so pessimistic and embittered that i enjoy hearing about women getting raped that this show seems almost wholesome to me

My family tried to give me a long talk about the dangers of reading Harry Potter back in the day even though they still let me. I think that was my first young thought of, "I'm not really into your religion if you're going to get on my case about a fantasy book".

Not that user, but I didn't grow up to hate religion, but have a distaste for Catholics and Christians who value the preaching more than the lessons. I ended up looking more into Buddhism as I got older and it made a lot more sense to me. I'm sure I could get into more Western religion if I was part of the right group, but every person I was around as a kid seemed more obsessed with elements like purgatory, rapture, giants walking the Earth and didn't focus much on the charity or being kind to neighbors.

My mother actually got pissed off at me as a teen because I donated some of our extra canned food without asking and she didn't like that I gave stuff away without her permission.

I wonder if we will ever be as advanced and based as japan and have an ACTUAL canon adult/minor relationship in a western cartoon.

No, value systems are too different.

well also the imaginary friend's ages were always ambiguous, but even then there was catscratch where the calico cat (who had a deep masculine voice, so you assumed he was an adult cat- even if it was in cat years) who had a crush on the neighbor girl who was in elementary school and i remember that confusing people a whole lot.

In the movie, Beetlejuice wanted to marry Lydia despite her being a minor. Lydia was pretty much a goth who wanted to die because her yuppie parents didn't care about her.

It's complicated because Beetlejuice does care for Lydia. He's not really sexually attracted to her per se. The guy just takes too much pride in his work and scare people and the whole affair is treated more like a bureaucratic nightmare.

Attached: 1480606039746.jpg (300x225, 14K)

Because they actually do.

From season 4, episode title "Vidiots". Funny coincidence, its the 69th episode.

>that one episode where lydia disguises herself by just wearing a veil and beetlejuice is immediately attracted to her
She put on a disguise and tried to hide her voice by pitching it down and talking in a sultry way. She was intentionally trying to fool Beetlejuice. The sitcom situation wasn't much different than when kid characters write fake love letters and give them to an adult character to make them think they have a secret admirer.

that aint a sitcom situation that would have happened if he were a human. i dont get the point in debating this whenever is comes up, their relationship was really weird and inappropriate. it was less weird given the fairy godmother nature of that dynamic, but it never came off exactly like that because bj never acted like a wise guardian or authority figure and his affectionate petname for lydia was babe.
i mean you cant imagine the genie calling aladdin "baby" instead of "al" or "kid". thats just too odd.

I didn't grow up to hate religion, but it did make me very aware of how damaging it can be. Especially when it is wielded by incredibly charismatic figures who are only looking to make money or push their own agenda.

Though this is is not exclusive to Christianity, or even to religion.

Well one of the earliest pieces is dated '92

>that aint a sitcom situation that would have happened if he were a human.

The entire show wouldn't exist if he were just a human. Are you retarded? The whole point is that he's a magical shapeshifter from another world who befriends a kid. That shit is typically a classic and innocent friendship pairing. If you want to read into the movie and musical, go ahead. But the cartoon is no different than when Arnold befriends every adult in his neighborhood, even helping them out on dates.

Pic related would also be different if Genie was a human. In fact, it would be Disney's first canon gay kiss, but it's not.

Attached: Aladdin-kisses-Genie.jpg (720x480, 34K)

Epstein's private island, of course

are you retarded? i made that comparison directly, explaining how bj and lydia's relationship differs from aladdin and genie. burton shipped alice and the mad hatter, too, and i think thats a better comparison.

Yes, and I brought up how Genie teleported in the place of a cute girl while Aladdin was kissing her and then gave him butterfly eyes as a response. He also transformed into a giant woman and talked about how hot Aladdin was as part of his song to convince the public that Prince Ali was great.

But for some reason, you think that's less weird than BJ calling Lydia "babes".

youre just being obtuse. in the movie, jafar tried to force jasmine into marrying him and she used her sex appeal to distract him. she was 15. now if they made a spin off of that movie, and jafar the genie is now jasmine's loyal friend who calls her sugar, how the fuck do you think were supposed to read his intentions? are you to tell me that we arent supposed to read tinkerbell's jealousy as her having a crush on peter, despite her being a grown woman and him being a child? heres the thing, on top of beetlejuice being a ghost, hes also portrayed as at least somewhat evil and antagonistic, so he's allowed to have some moral gray areas. the genie isnt.

>You're just being obtuse
>Genie doing these flirty things doesn't count because _____
>Calling someone "honey" is more obscene than using your magical abilities to swap places with a cute girl to trick your master into giving you a peck on the cheek instead!

You're the one being obtuse.

I think we're all taking this too seriously but the age issue would be different once you're dead and don't age, obviously a real world equivalent is either impossible or if it happened people would care about the "ghosts exist" part more. And mostly, I think he was just a friend and a good one but needy and insecure, wanting people to laugh at his jokes. If she gets older and in a wacky surreal cartoon world dead and living people could date it could happen I guess. He's a pretty good guy. But in the cartoon it's just friendship. Friends get jealous too.

i didnt even argue whether or not genie's flirting counted, but i admit i dont think we were ever supposed to read genie as having any intention to get in aladdin's pants. you cant say that about beetlejuice

>you cant say that about beetlejuice
You can if you actually watch the show without obsessing over your ship wanting to be canon. Their relationship is barely any different than Ralph and Vanellope. The second movie is even about Ralph getting constantly jealous that Vanellope has a new adult friend and virus clones of Ralph chase after Vanellope desperate to be her friend.

Unless you think Ralph wants to get into Vanellope's pants, too.

Attached: 78b30b28624163f131b969d12fea39fb.jpg (480x360, 26K)

I can't find that old comic where Aladdin shoves the lamp's spout up his ass and rubs it, then his eyes roll back in his head and he starts spewing up blue smoke and convulsing.

It's not subtle. They even treat the anniversary of them meeting like if they were in a relationship.
It's as far as they could go in a G rated cartoon.

Wasn't it kind of a pseuso-sequel to the movie? Just kind of pretending Beetlejuice was not the villain somehow and the Maitlands were not around anymore.

Most of the cartoon spinoffs sort of referenced the movies and acted like the movie stuff happened like the Mask, Ace Ventura, and Addams Family.

beetlejuice wasn't even the villain in the movie until the very end

The opening theme for this cartoon plays whenever I get my dick out

Attached: vlcsnap-2016-12-18-15h56m25s186.jpg (720x540, 180K)

The marriage was for his right to be alive. He didn't want to fuck her. This is like calling count olaf a pedo.

>necropaedophilia
Amazing. I wish modern day cartoons were as daring

Attached: 1506189534173.gif (364x232, 1.13M)

count olaf is a pedo insofar as the material doesn't let itself get THAT dark

and anyway, the original script for beetlejuice had him explicitly going after Lydia who was a preteen in that one

Are you the wonderbread guy?

what? who the fuck "ships" beetlejuice? im just stating the obvious you sperg. vanellope and ralph werent based on a little girl and some horny middle aged guy trying to marry her. you cant just ignore that shit, its so bizarre to take a character like beetlejuice and make him a sympathetic main character and the best friend of the same little girl that he tried to marry in the movie. and then having him call her babe, which is a name totally reserved for a significant other, and it gets more blatant.

Lydia has some weird nips

Hanging out in the Neitherworld does that to your body.

that's just goofing around

lydia doesn't even have tits in the cartoon

So you watched the show for the worst girl?

>netflix and chill

All these people complaining about how the relationship between BJ and Lydia is weird are annoying theatre kids who've never heard of Beetlejuice before the musical. You can't change my mind

The cartoon doesn't explain it, but it does consider the movie canon. One big evidence is in "Prince of the Neitherworld", when BJ says that people will soon learn that he's funny and then transforms into pic related. Then Lydia says something like "That again... Funny isn't the exact word for it"

Attached: 846281638.jpg (1078x825, 386K)

No one complained about it, they were just arguing about whether or not it was a thing at all.

what's your point? if the relationship is creepy or weird that just works in favor of the show

its supposed to be creepy and weird

as for the events, I wonder if it was just beetlejuice haunting the house and no maitlands

That kind of arguing is just a free sample of all the bullshit that's going on in the fandom since the musical opened. I'm just sick of it

My point is exactly this thing you just said. The problem is that people nowadays are despising the "strange and unusual" aspect of their relationship (friendship or love, I don't care). If the theme of the movie/cartoon (and maybe the musical) is to embrace the strange and unusual, then why should you want it to have a relationship that's 100% within the rules of society?

>vanellope and ralph werent based on a little girl and some horny middle aged guy trying to marry her.
Again, the cartoon is different from the fucking movie, you faggot.

You sound like a girl that came straight out of Tumblr and views things as "problematic".

>a little 12 year old

how old is she supposed to be? Wino was 16 when the movie was filmed

Attached: Lydia 2.webm (1920x1080, 2.88M)

>They even treat the anniversary of them meeting like if they were in a relationship.
No they don't. They say the word "friends" several times in the first episode.

About that maybe even Seventeen as the show goes along.

She attends a Prep School so it works out.

how do you count the age of ghosts from graveworld. they're not alive, don't live on a planet orbiting Sol, and have sandworms flying around all the time, which is probably what provides the most Maturity

>What are vampires and what is Twilight?
FYI teenaged girls will never not be into older guys

Attached: Twilight.jpg (1000x1500, 862K)

I think it's implied in the show that she summoned him with a seance.

Well something have changed. Her parents are pretty much a retooled to give them some traits from the Maitlands and make them not so arrogant and haughty as they were in the movie.

So overall its like a lot of shows that were movies made into kids stuff. "It all happened just a little differently."

according to an old rumor is was because during the concept stage of the show one of the crew that worked on it drew beetlejuice fingering lydia while she was on her period and he had blood all over his fingers
the red fingers somehow made it into the final version of the show as an in-joke

Any chance of this show getting rebooted?

she said she was a 7th grader a few times, in america thats 12.

Fuck no.

hey there murlogic, havent offed yourself yet?

Wait, what other adaptions?

Who's the best villain? And why is it Bartholomew Batt?

Attached: latest.png (1424x1072, 410K)

A better time....

She was worst girl.

Her theme was 80-leecious, though.

I’m seeing ZERO Lydia art in this thread. Shame on all of you

Doesn't count he's permanently a high schooler, which is to say in america, perfectly fine on the surface ignoring his immortality

No. They had a "we met one year ago" episode but went into no details.
Cartoon BJ has a crush on Lydia because she's the only one who ever liked him.
Movie BJ was a pedophilic creep.
Aside from the names of main characters, the two have zero in common.

Surprised no one's mentioned Claire Brewster's VA is someone who's constantly shit on on Yea Forums

>Doesn't count he's permanently a high schooler
Law says it counts
Go ahead, draw a 110 year old vampire with the curves of a six year old
What's the worst that will happen?
They'll convict you of child porn?

>>that one episode where lydia disguises herself by just wearing a veil and beetlejuice is immediately attracted to her

That's a law of comedy though; anybody who puts on a veil is instantly attractive even if it's a man. Even a spectacularly ugly man like Nobby Nobbs or a dog like Scooby.

That's all I'm here for. Lydia in any amount of D's is a stone cold cutie.

I seriously can't wait for Spooktober, Yea Forums at its finest.

Have a rare Lydia

There's more of a chance of Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian being greenlit than that happening.

Rewatch some episodes dude. I did that recently. The animation and soundtrack is great, but the stories weren't really that thrilling - that's not necessarily a bad thing per se. Both now and 21 years ago I enjoyed these lighthearted plots. What I am trying to say is the plots were barely passable as entertaining but the visuals and sound compensated for this. If the show was to be rebooted let's be honest - the stories would be surely much worse and so would be the animation to minimize costs. So in conclusion, story would be bad, most likely cringe (because that's what every major cartoon is nowadays) and visuals would not compensate for this.

I am not that kind of "new bad, old good" morons, but I honestly can't see how such "Tim Burton-ish" atosphere, shading, shapes could be recreated with digital drawing. Just please don't mention salad fingers or something - it's good in its own right, but it's clearly not the same.

The series should just be released in high quality. It is over 20 years old, nobody really remembers it besides general premise so it would be nearly like watching it for the first time anyway.

Did someone cum on her face?

This thread could use some more Lydia art

Take a wild guess.

>ugly man like Nobby Nobbs
>Nobby Nobbs

He has to carry around a certificate to prove he's human, and even Death doesn't think he's human.

But what if it became something with DEEPEST LORE and stuff? Maybe something like Adventure Time but with the artstyle of Villainous, idk. I'm just thirsty for new animated content

>look it up
>it's Tara

Of course it is
