Black Lighting is a really underrated character, I love the concept of a 40/50s principal/teacher of a violent neighborhood being a superhero while trying to make kids stay away from crime. It allow for a lot of interesting stories full of feels.

I remember the Fox Spider-Man cartoon did one of these in the Six Forgotten Warriors arc. Back in WW2, the other warriors had been under the impression that the Black Marvel (who wore a full-body costume) was a rich white kid, but in fact his father had refused to let him undergo the super-soldier experiment and their black limo driver went through it instead. When the others find out the truth in the present, he simply comments "Didn't you ever wonder why I called myself the BLACK Marvel?"

The ratings are in the toilet for BL. I don't know if that's because of the politics or the fact that Arrowverse fans won't watch it because it's not connected to that world.
But Season 2 ain't getting a Bluray release either, so that's a sign that maybe its a little underrated.
