Why do people hold Animaniacs in a higher regard when both of these shows have the same producer, setup, level of humor, and pop culture references that’ll fly over kids’ heads?

this is why

Both shows were shit, even for their time.

Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were the kings at that point, putting Classic after Classic

I haven't revisited them, but as a child I loved Animaniacs and hated Tiny Toons. It was to the extent that me, a brainless kid in front of a television, would turn off the TV and find something else to do whenever Tiny Toons was on. I think I just found the characters too annoying.

They could both have successfull reboots
Do it WB

Animaniacs went all in with references and managed to overtake the niche adult audience.
But Tiny Toon was better for the target audience.

Because Tiny Toons didn't have Pinky and the Brain,

I was the exact opposite of you. Watched Tiny Toons all the time but just turned off the TV halfway into Animaniacs. Never did like the shorts with the other characters who weren't the main three, except for Pinky and the Brain though; I did stay for them.

Because they were masterpieces, thats why.
Thats like saying that Porco Rosso & Pom Poko were shit, they're not.
Also you're thinking of Gainax & AIC.
The characters were not annoying.

Remember, theres a reason why normies selected Tiny Toons and Animaniacs over Ren and Stimpy.

I was the opposite. I loved tiny toons over animaniacs. I liked both, but tiny toons had more plot related episodes while it felt like animaniacs were more in-joke after in-joke. Like I can recall the epwhere Babs was trying to become a real actress only to miss home, or the episode where the kids get caught in wacky land trying to escape, etc. For animaniacs, I can't recall any actual stories other than the christmas movie.

That was like 5 years later when Cartoon Cartoon booted up, before that it was mostly throwaway Hanna Barbara and Loony Tunes without too much original content. And to answer OP's question, that's because Animaniacs was better, and had more variety in their toons. Slappy Squirrel, Pinky and the Brain, Mandy and Mindy, etc. A much more rounded show.

>Remember, theres a reason why normies selected Tiny Toons and Animaniacs over Ren and Stimpy.
Because cable was a relatively new thing, and cost money to watch instead of network television.

TMS sucks. So does 90s Gainax.

Pom Poko was pretty shit, Senpai.

No it was because Tiny Toons and Animaniacs followed the golden age shorts to the T when Ren & Stimpy would of been rejected by the Hay's Office.

Also Ren & Stimpy was the show that made people get cable TV, and they still preferred Tiny Toons over Ren & Stimpy.

Kill yourself retard, Ren & Stimpy is a iconic cartoon and revolutionized TV animation and give the creators much more freedom, without R&S, shows like SpongeBob, Cow & Chicken, PPG, Billy & Mandy, Angry Beavers etc.. wouldn't have existed without them

John, who let you on this site.

Animaniacs was more daring in subject matter. We felt good at them because of "getting crap past the censors" stuff.

like, the "finger Prince" joke. it's not funny by the standards of an actual joke. It's just transgressive because they talked about fingering on a cartoon

Tiny Toons did more in a day then what Ren & Stimpy did in 29 years.
Without Tiny Toons we would of never got Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Mononoke Hime, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Ponyo, Summer Wars, The Wind Rises, The Boy and the Beast, Mirai and ect... Those films wouldn't exist without Tiny Toons.

>Weebshit
Fuck off

What in the utter fuck are you talking about?

i think he likes tiny toons

grow a cartoon and find out

Constantly relying on references don’t make anything rounded.

Minor nitpicking, classic Looney Tunes did the same damn thing and you know it.

>it's a Famicom thread

Every fucking time.

A big reason could be that the cast of Animaniacs weren't simply retreads of Looney Toons characters

>pop culture references that’ll fly over kids’ heads
STOP POSTING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. ALL OF THE STUFF THEY REFERENCED WAS STILL ON TV IN THE 90S

Pic related.

>level of humor
No, Tiny Toons had more of a focus on puns and slapstick, Animaniacs had more of a focus on one-liners and references. The Tiny Toons How I Spent My Vacation movie was closer to Animaniacs in terms of level of humor than the show was.

Like said, Tiny Toons also had more of a focus on a plot in each episode, whereas Animaniacs tended to fixate on the humor. A good example would be to compare the Fields of Honey episode from Tiny Toons to the 65th Anniversary episode of Animaniacs. Both episodes go into the "past" of the respective universes, and brought in characters that "pre-date" the main cast. Fields of Honey was almost completely joke-free, and tried hard to be one of those "very special episodes". 65th Anniversary had two of the funniest scenes in the series, and was jokes from the open to the close.

Didn't that episode pretty much state that Toons are immortal so long as people remember them? I kind of liked that.

FUCK OFF FAMICOM!

Can't have a TT thread without this.

Got some concept art as well.

Yep. Easily one of the more memorable Tiny Toon episodes. Right up there with the Film Festival episode. Montana Max showing a short film where he brutally murders classmates with an axe to the entire school will never not be funny.

Just seeing everyone's idea of the perfect film was great. Love how Bugs and Daffy had to sit through the whole thing.

And awarded the win to the shortest film because they were tortured by it the least.

>paired together since the concept phase
Nice.
