It was probably the biggest of the Euro comics to make it in America, but even then it was relatively unknown. I grew up with Tintin and Asterix myself but literally nobody knew what they were when I was a kid. They even briefly aired the cartoon on TV, but it didn't last long.

It's a joke comic.Most of the time only the cover has innuendos. The only erotic thing is Little Spirou groping a girl in her (fake) sleep, and it's a surprisingly good story about kids going through puberty and being afraid of the changes in their friendship.
I'm more annoyed by the series jumping through time from the '40s to the '00s depending on the strip.

Fantasio does have a few off-camera flings in the Tome & Janry run, but that's all.
Saying that T&J Spirou is lustful is like saying that Franquin's Spirou is a tobacco addict because he smoked once in The Moray's Hideout.

The swedish dub I grew up with is probably the most intense cinematic experience I recall at any given time, specifically the landing on earth. I even watched it again some years ago on VHS and it ticked all the right boxes still.
