Are cartoons still made just to sell toys? Do kids still even buy toys?

Paw Patrol definitely is, that’s for goddamn sure.

More for stuff like App these days user, they also expect to sell merch of some kind, but toys are no longer the only thing that matter except for stuff like Super hero girls, but those also have apps and bags,etc..

No, and for the few that are they should be black listed from the industry as you don't make cartoons to hawk anything.

Not quite, no. Other aspects matter more now, and frankly the products seem to be geared towards teens and adults then actual kids
Certain shows like Ok Ko never even got the chance to get toys out there. Where something educational like Paw Patrol relies entirely on making the merch bucks

Apparently they still are, and that is the problem.
Kids don't watch cartoons anymore. Kids don't play with toys anymore. It's all tablets/smartphones and the Internet now.

>Kids don't watch cartoons anymore.
Explain this then.

I can't help that Game Sack, My Life in Gaming, The 8-Bit Guy and Lazy Game Reviews are excellent programs.

Who actually thought this fat sack of shit was going to be popular lmao

Even Luke Skywalker toys weren't popular except when he was in his resistance suit. She's just a generic looking chubby asian girl in a fucking brown jumpsuit. She doesn't even have a unique weapon, they need to literally make up a gun for her.

It's really quite mind boggling how billion dollar franchises manage to not understand basic things like "kids want toys that look cool". That was the entire premise of franchises like GI Joe and Transformers. Selling characters that looked cool and different above all.

4 toys left isn't really that many.

In the documentary “The Director and the Jedi”, Rian Johnson explains that with Rose he wanted a character that looked like someone he’d be friends with in high school. He specifically requested that she wouldn’t be a tall skinny white woman (the costume designer gives him shit for this). Basically the character is a whole other type of manic pixie dream girl, but somehow even more pathetic. It’s just another “STACY WHY DIDN’T YOU GO OUT WITH ME AAAAAAH” nerd cope in character format.
