Rise of the TMNT

Rise of the TMNT made its debut one year ago.

(While I had to look to tumblr to find ANY fans at all, it's not remotely as popular as 2012 was, even there).

It's still going? Where the tmnt threads?

I really liked the animation of the show, but it's really hard to care about the show when none of the characters in the show seem to care about what's going on

It got hamstrung by bad releases. That and the premise is literally: what if we had the turtles but made them black

They're lazy assholes letting the world turn to shit around them, talking about doing something about an environmental concern but barely remembering it's going on half the time. Sounds pretty white to me.

This is my first TMNT series, and it's hard to get my friends into it so I can discuss it with them. The ones who hadn't been into TMNT stuff before like me, don't seem that interested in trying something new from a long-running franchise. And then there's a few early2000s TMNT fans who don't want to try it because they don't like how different it is.

New eps next month.

the hiatus really fucked over fans' interest

it's ok, we're getting the boys back on oct. 5 or 6

besides, it doesn't look like there are many fans who want to go lore hunting or make shitty fan content

Attached: tumblr_pk7m05uu4O1wtvx3k_540.gif (357x273, 1.96M)

Ahh yes because when I think of Africa I think of environmentally friendly.

>hamstrung by bad releases

It had a good showing time initially. Good schedules can't make people watch shit shows.

True, this show is gay, and the girls like Aperil are ugly as fuck.

Would a cuter april have helped? Also maybe not giving raph the sonic boom treatment

>This is my first TMNT series

I am so so sorry.

>Y'all still sleepin' on ROTTMNT? [emoji emoji emoji]

Well that says it all really. Yeah, not even on fucking tumblr can the show find fans, and that's with black April and the directors practically going out of their way to make shit that's easy to turn into rebloggable gifs.

What gets me is that Netflix promised this pile of shit two movies. Just... why? It's not even a Netflix show. It airs on Nick.

The turtles have the resources needed to actively do something about the mosquitoes, know more about the mosquitoes than anyone else, have said they'll tackle the issue, have an omnigenius on staff that could easily do something about the problem if he really really tried, and keep deciding they're not going to follow through because they'd rather watch TV, and besides it's kinda hard.

That's America.

It's still going but no fans means no threads.

Rise of the TMNT is pretty good but it barely feels like TMNT and the stakes feel too low for anything to matter and there just isn't much to talk about. The 15 minute run time hurts this one really fucking badly. It makes everything feel rushed even in the better episodes. It could stand to have a few arcs to get us attached to the characters and antagonists because they feel like they could really shine given a chance.
Also I rather like April even if she is basically a different character. I wish she got a little more screentime since she is basically a non-presence so far.

Because the show sucks. They fucked all the characters up. Making things differently doesn't mean it's smart - sometimes it's just shit.

Technically it's been on the air more than a year because they did a sneak peak with the first episode. It's had over a year to tell a story, and we've barely gotten to "the Foot Clan is bad, and Splinter is their dad literally not just adopted."

Y'all hatin'.

Attached: whats not to love.gif (500x500, 1.11M)

>Splinter is short
>has beady little eyes
>massive buck teeth
I get that they're making him more "rat-like," but have the commented on how they basically made a racist depiction of an asian person?

It got hamstrung by being shit. Let's be honest.

Would a racist show cast these voice actors?

Attached: racists.jpg (480x360, 39K)

More than wrong, you're an autistic boomer.

He hit the nail on the head, dude. Show's crashing and burning. Ratings wouldn't be bad for some other property... but this is TMNT. At this stage the previous versions were soaring, this is managing to keep its head barely above water. They took a proven winning formula and fucked it up.

I mean one racist against asians would.

Attached: good point.gif (500x277, 934K)

He's a big guy.

Yup.

Attached: tmnt cast.png (700x467, 485K)

I like how these cunts are implying one is bad and one is good when in reality no one should care if a male or female character looks sexy.

>No one should care about appearance

lol, okay.

Not appearance, per se, just the character being sexy.

"A photoshoot for the kids show I work on? Lemme just oil up my chest, put on my ahaego jacket, and throw on a dog collar. "

>show creators need to make changes to every character
>change Baxter Stockman into a kid
>therefore need to change his surname into StockBOY

Man, what a cringe

Attached: Baxter_Stockboy.jpg (310x175, 12K)

I sure do love how the writers can't make up their minds if the characters need to hide their being mutants or not. Baxter the literal youtube wannabe star didn't film them because...?

His human form is literally the hottest human Splinter so far. I don't care, this is the hill I choose to die on.

Attached: Splints.jpg (540x612, 94K)

I can't bring myself to look forward to new episodes when I know 99% of it won't amount to anything. I don't go out of my way to see it.
It's just a weightless misadventures cartoon using TMNT assets to give itself a boost. There's potential for compelling stories all over the place too, but Rise prefers the goofy faces, slapstick and screaming direction.

It’s a cool show with great animation. Seems like it triggers big fans of the franchise, but I never really gave a fuck about it.

>great animation
A blatant lie. It has bursts of "oh hey, they do have a budget" but not half as many as the show's defenders pretend.

>the hottest human Splinter so far
Kek, no wonder this show can't maintain threads any better than Star Wars Resistance. Imagine dollar store Johnny Bravo being someone's idea of a good Hamato Yoshi. Shit taste, shit thread.

It's barely on, Nick does not promote it, it's impossible to watch episodes online. Everything is working against it right now.

Meanwhile in 2012 Nick was really really promoting TMNT as much as possible and constantly showing episodes at all times of day and night on their main channel and Nicktoons. I don't think Rise has ever been on in an afternoon or Nicktoons at all.

They keep dropping the mosquito plot for 10-20 episodes at a time. They only really show up when they want to feature some new mutant character.

>everyone with a pompadour is trying to be Johnny Bravo
I need you and Josuke fuckers to pick up a history book one day.

Attached: 9fa16d6e-d24e-4be6-a064-65770c2b4ce7.png (1000x955, 261K)

I kind of feel the same way. I like the show but I am not really super invested in watching any new episode when it comes out because 99% of the time it's just filler.

They're literally an attempt by The Big Bad to create an evil army, and the "heroes" just go "eh, whatever" and ignore them 99.99999% of the time.

Not sure why Nick decided everyone wanted to see versions of the turtles that are decidedly not heroic, instead of mixing the comedy and heroism ala Sonic Boom, but here we are.

Yea it's hard to care about them when they are not really heroes, constantly lose fights over and over again, they screw up more often than they succeed in anything, and they tend to not bother with most villains.

They are more like those hard luck Looney Tunes/Disney characters that fail at everything and the world kind of shits on them over and over again...but in an action cartoon.

shows on hiatus, non season threads that often and any time there is one it's the same pack of shitposters constantly hounding the threads making the same fucking jokes as they did when it started, and borderline anytime it's mentioned in joint threads or tmnt general it's the designated beat stick, i think people just can't get over it being so different, but at the very least the genuine criticism against rise has evolved beyond people just shitting there pants over april being brown even though that's still a fucking thing.

Attached: 1567242246354.gif (500x303, 1003K)

Sounds like the African American community to me

Donnie's ominigenius has always been situational. I don't know why people expect differently here.

It's a bit more extreme, I'd wager. This isn't the average "Shredder is out there, somewhere..." scenario, there's a swarm of mosquitoes out there mutating people and every minute that problem gets ignored things get worse. So him sitting on his ass playing video games and ignoring the problem in every episode except the Mama one... that just looks way worse than the standard "couldn't Donnie have done something about this?" stuff. Especially with how this version is even more hax than previous versions. Why yes, I CAN replace my brothers' brains with copies of my own!

I wonder how much of that is wrapped around execs wanting them to make the series more like Teen Titans. where most episodes are based around the heroes not being heroic at all and just doing everyday lazy people stuff or hanging out.

did he forget the hamster dude who took care of dogs?

They need the webs of the Spider Lady to catch the mosquitos since the mosquito tend to be faster than they are and aren't attracted to much else besides people. And since they aren't on good terms with her, they typically have to steal her webs to power the machine they created for catching mosquitos, which was in the Bullhop episode.
It's not like they have a way of reliably tracking the mosquitos besides just keeping track of the news for large swarms or Draxum.

There's always a a few outliers in any group.

>And then there's a few early2000s TMNT fans who don't want to try it because they don't like how different it is.
My problem with ROTTMNT is how radically different is from the other series because it feels like it could have been its own IP rather than another TMNT IP. I saw a few episodes myself and aside from the animation and colors, i really don’t like the characterizations of all of the characters. It’s like now everyone has to be funny as opposed to just Mikey. Also not a fan of Raph’s weapons being downgraded to tonfas.

I fucking love this show and can´t wait to see more of it when it comes back next month.
Also, the show still has plenty of good looking women. Jessica Jaclyn and the foot clan sidekick are proof of that.

Attached: jessica alternate3.jpg (1366x768, 205K)

>ROT
>TMNT

What an unfortunate acronym

I've watched 13 episodes so far and it's okay, I can't get attached to it because everyone acts the same

The writers were trying to tell us something.

>what if we had the turtles but made them black
They all act like black nerds and it's great.

I 100% don't watch the show just to protest April being black and refuse to support it, because I know someone in marketing will decide she always has to be the race swapped version.

INB4 some fag insists the original April was black

How is this still on?

>Jessica Jaclyn and the foot clan sidekick
This show is mostly mediocre to bad but those two are great very entertaining gag characters and the episode with Jessica is one of the only ones I would recommend to non-fans.
A big problem I am noticing with this show so far is that the human weirdos (the Foot, the park rangers, Jessica, April, ect) are much more memorable and fun to watch than the monsters for the most part with the only exception being maybe Draxum.

People actually liked the 2012 version? I couldn't stand it.

Is there a mega for this show? I've searched all over and I cant find a decent quality download.

The first season is pretty decent.

>My problem with ROTTMNT is how radically different is from the other series because it feels like it could have been its own IP rather than another TMNT IP
By this logic the 80s series shouldn't have existed. This franchises biggest strength has always been being able to be different from what came before it, and the ones that do nothing but rehash are usually the worse ones.

The villains are the weakest part of the show. Most of them are just not interesting.

>Yeah, not even on fucking tumblr can the show find fans
Yeah, it's not like Tumblr's been fucking dead for years now or anything.

What made the 2012 version popular? I grew up with the 2003 version and I didn't really care for the 2012 series. Rise is hitting all the rights spots for me, for the most part. A bit too much focus on Donnie, but everyone's great when they get the spotlight.

Me neither, I haven't enjoyed anything tmnt since Nick bought the ip. Except the Batman movie which was pretty good.

Even with that in mind, it's pretty blatant that rise isn't appealing to anywhere near as many people. It was a total misfire.

Not as good as daddy Splinter

Attached: tmnt_2012__goodbye______master_splinter_by_ramontmnt_dcb6k3l-fullview.jpg (1024x568, 44K)

This is the biggest problem with the show other that the turtles being a bit too samey and dickish.
Other than Draxum and the foot clan who are pretty decent I can barely remember any of them despite watching a marathon of the show less than a month ago.

The zombie remnants of 2011 fandom produce about as much deviantart shit as Rise, for what little it's worth. This is not a show that's inspiring love from fans.

Something about this feels racist.

Still confused why they didn't just go with a design like this if they wanted a black April.

it's very popular just not the type of show that gets discussion.

>it's popular

The ratings have never hit 2003 or 2012 levels. Compared to some shows it's going okay, but for this brand it's underperforming.

why are you comparing tv ratings in 2019 to tv ratings in 2012? are you stupid?

Has this version got a Casey yet?

She was mixed race, based on Eastman's smoking hot gf at the time, you filthy casual.

We need the chad Dad splinter. This was the best character design

Attached: Untitled.png (783x723, 354K)

Not him, but if you don't want to believe the ratings, you can just look at the amount of discussion Rise gets online compared to past versions. People are online more today than ever before, but the 03 and 12 series had way more positive discussion even before they actually aired. It's pretty easy to dig into some archives to see for yourself.
Rise just doesn't resonate with tmnt fans.

how much TTG discussion do you see online?

>leader Raph
>Leo is just Mikey 2.0
>Infact, everyone is a little bit Miney now
Why?

Mikey best boy

Well that's a humanoid rat, but okay.

Attached: Leg.jpg (540x799, 176K)

A fair amount in the right places, accompanied by solid ratings even now. And where's a difference between 2012 and 2018 ratings, honestly I'm pretty skeptical that the TV cutoff is enough to justify just how much lower 2018 TMNT is. They're at the one year mark and Nick isn't even trying to milk the show. It just didn't click.

There aren't any white people in that picture either.

You sound invested in an autistic way. An autistic nerdy "grrr i NEED this to fail because its not my old show..." way

People hated it until it started doing references to old shit and people died. Literally all you need to please the average autistic 80s nerd is old shit being homaged and a few deaths so they can pretend their children's show isn't embarrasing to watch for an adult.

No horse in this race, just amused that someone is under the impression that everything is fine and dsndy.

Sometimes a show is just a swing and a miss.

I thought the last sentence of the post was implying that both were good.

You're talking to two different people. Anyway if Rise had foregone narrative completely the way TTG does, it might have been more successful. At least no one would expect anything from it that way, and it's hard to stay mad at something that admits it's stupid.

Well since the usual crowd are waking up, for my own amusement, pics of Ralph being a good boy.

It mostly does that anyway. I am not sure what worked so well for TTG but its success seems like kind of a special case.

Rise is animated superbly, but it's the aesthetic equivalent of Thundercats Roar or Netflix She-Ra. The characters are offensively ugly, and offensively out of character (aside from Mikey). April is a fucking nigger. Let's just get that out of the way. You can claim she's cute (which isn't true) but that's neither here nor there. The fact that they changed ginger April is proof among other elements of the series that these showrunners don't respect the characters at all.

I can't tell if you're making a joke or if you're actually retarded and don't know what a stockboy is

Welp food's finally ready, so I'm just gonna retire from the thread now. Have fun.

Anyone that looks at Andy Suriano's art and says "this is shit" isn't worth the air their breath, or a reply. I am only talking to you to beg you to kill yourself. We really could use less sub-humans like you.

I understand trying to make a toy commercial show made for little boys appeal to fujos, but this is just sad. You shouldn’t have to ‘beg’ people to invest their time to like a show, or call them a ‘hater’ like and and guilt them into watching.

>A fair amount in the right places, accompanied by solid ratings even now.
Neither of what you said is true.

>it doesn't even have shit on the 2012 series
Is this a joke? The 12 series is easily the worst animated incarnation so far, it's pure garbage.

>fanart is laughably out of character
News at 11.

Are you actually clinically retarded, or just pretending?

I mean the 12 series was bad but at least as bad as it was there was *some* quality there. Not much but I'm willing to give it slack because it came after the fucking 2004 series which is arguably the definitive version of the damn franchise at this point.

Even by fanart standards this is sad. People really want to pretend that Rise Splinter isn't a monstrously abusive dad down there with Rick Sanchez and Jonas Venture. Not quite as bad, but nearer to them than to a decent father.

>the definitive version
Sadly most people still consider that the 80's cartoon. For everything it did to catapult the franchise onto the world stage, the goofy pizza turtle legacy it left behind is a cancer.

It's ratings are damn good for a show that old, and you still get active discussion on places like tvtropes and the titans boards. Not all positive, not where I prefer to hsng out, but people are still talking sll these years in. Rise was practically stillborn.

I feel bad because this is Rob Paulsen's debut as a voice director

I mean let's just set aside all opinion, taste, whatever... is Rob REALLY the right choice to direct these characters? Isn't that a bit like Donny Osmond directing the next Medea movie?

Who is the jackass showing up like he's trying to get laid and not posing for kids' show promo photos?

I wish my brush with cancer left me half as well-off.

We can't all make billions off cancer user

Bit like Family Guy art of Peter being nice to Meg.

Attached: i couldnt find anything like that.png (300x250, 49K)

>Not quite as bad
You mean nearly, user.

Rick cares so little about his daughter he didn't think twice about replacing her with an alternate-reality version. And he destroyed her marriage because he didn't like Jerry. And he was pretty oblivious about the way he made her think he was going to kill her.

Rise Splinter... might be that bad.

But he's probably not as bad as Jonas, who didn't hesitate to pull shit that would've killed Rusty, in the hopes of repairing his own badly damaged body. I'm not ruling out the possibility that he's exactly that bad though. We haven't seen him seriously risk himself for one of the boys.

You just don't appreciate fashion.

The ttg forum on tvtropes is more of a complain about TTG/nostalgia over the older series than a discussion board about that series itself. Either way you can also discussion of the show on places other than here during airing time as well.

Everytime I see this movie I jist think somone got paid to superglue carpet into a cylinder and paste it onto Chris Tucker's head. Man, I really love outlandish fantasy/future fashion like this.

>Rise of the TMNT made its debut one year ago.

It feels like it's been way more than just a year.

The execs probably considered him a safe bet that would give Rise some legitimacy. And as far as directing the actors goes, he's doing a pretty great job. The expression and delivery is superb, but the scripts and the writing spoil it. That's not his fault nor his job. He got saddled with a poorly planned vision for the turtles this time around, but I don't feel bad for him because he's already been an integral part of two successful tmnt shows.

It's still not how he should have to break into directing. Shame.

Fifth Element was a fucking treasure, I'll tell you what.

Well bully for you. I enjoyed it. They needed a good overall plan though, instead of just winging it every season.

RotTMNT fans pretend the show is a sakuga orgy, and it can be on occasion, but most of the show is just comedy that doesn't land.

Well at least the artist is honest about why they watch this shit.

>Anyone else see a resemblance to Loonatics Unleashed?

Jesus, it really is just like that. The same awkward attempt to balance comedy, action, and something almost-like-a-plot-but-not-quite. Except it's coming at it from the other direction, trying to clumsily shove comedy into an action franchise while Loonatics tried to shove action into a comedy franchise.

Attached: sam and pepe.jpg (635x472, 61K)

Kinda insulting to Loonatics honestly, that felt like it had more effort desu.

>TMNT has always, since its creation been an action/comedy series
>Somehow this is the same as taking a strictly comedy series and trying to turn it into an action series
A lot of hot trash takes today.

If it was made by a faggot it must be truly cowardly one for it to not have any actual canonical gays.

I watched an episode of Rise that was about Leo and Mikey competing as waiters at a restaurant. Implying the ratio of action-to-comedy is the same as most iterations of TMNT is super dishonest.

We're basically hitting late '87 cartoon territory, where the entire show is kind of a farce.

But it has a similar feel to Loonatics Unleashed in that it's trying to be zany comedy, but also trying to string along some semblance of an ongoing plot, while also trying to put in action scenes that kinda work but at the same time kinda don't because it's a zany comedy setting. It's a balance that's hard to pull off.

Diff user but while it's been awhile IIRC late 87 got a bit darker and more serious, though I could be forgetting a decline. The majority of the show was a total comedic heap though, you're right about that.

All the iterations have different ratios of comedy to action, with the 03' version being the more 'serious' than the others. And all iterations have some episodes that are sometimes more comedy than action, this is nothing new. This iteration decided to swing back to being slightly more comedy than action like the 87' series, is fine with me since the humor in the 12' series rarely ever resonated with me.

I'm so fucking sick of post-Nick buyout TMNT, where humor is priority one and everything else comes second. The Paramount movies were discount Bayformers, the 2012 never did decide what tone it wanted and failed at all of them, and Rise is literally Sonic Boom but not nearly as clever.

I'm not at all averse to humor in TMNT, but it's a garnish, not the main meal. This franchise used to have a heart, now it's just whatever lazy dreck Nick wants to shit out.

Television is terrified of mainly action/adventure shows nowadays, that's true. And while I still enjoy these action/comedy series, I'll be more than happy to see the resurgence of full 22 minute action/adventure shows again. Young Justice is rocky, but it's a good start. We'll just have to wait for the next big 'thing' before we ever get that genre back again it seems.

Maybe things would be a little better if korra and voltron werent disappointments of the decade that upset their fanbases by trashing the fans' goodwill. Two of the highest profile western serialized animated tv shows going down the gutter within a few years of each other? Whew

Being fair a large part of Korra and Voltron's problems were also the fanbase and how much blame shifting and shit went on, particularly with Voltron. Voltron was a fucking nightmare. VAs fanning the flames, writers making retcons off the cuff on fucking twitter. Fans blackmailing the studio. The writers just fucking giving up after S2, etc.

There was also the Thundercats series, which also had a bunch of problems as well. Just the unfortunate event of so many shows failing. Although there were also the companies that seem to just seem to have a vendetta agains the genre like Symbiotic Titans and the toy license incident, which still pisses me off because the show was finally kicking off.

Actually a big problem with CN specifically was the new head unilaterally deciding to kill their entire action line up because he didn't like action shows. He just used the toy shit for them and Young Justice and the like as an excuse while also fucking with their timeslots and giving repeat slots to comedies to fuck with the ratings.

I didn't pay much attention to fanbases besides seeing the very vocal meltdowns when things were turning sour, and occasional threads on Yea Forums. The actual shows themselves that I watched turned out overall subpar with unsatisfying payoff (in the writing, production values were really trying but they can only do so much) where I can completely understand the shitstorms that happened with fans. No matter whatever awful things were happening in the fanbase during the airing time, cant get around how it still all boils down to how the show itself turns out.

>Leonardo
>Master swordsman
Learn from these two, Leo. Fuck the bushido or fairness.

user the reason Voltron went bad like it did is literally mostly due to the Fans fucking with it and the writers having no ability to tell the fans no.

I think I vaguely remember YJ S2 premieres coming back after a long hiatus for only a few eps and then being put on hiatus again. If I'm remembering correctly it almost feels like intentional sabotage to fuck with WB animation

It was because breaking it up like that helped kill ratings.

No, if the writers are such pussies they get bullied by toxic fans instead of putting down their phones I still blame the writers. Grow a pair

Nah it wasn't even just that. They also got super on the tumblr train later and kept making characters retroactively gay...and then when they were dead they brought them back to avoid bury your gay backlash over twitter.
Unironically if you'd just killed everyone on Tumblr who'd watched it before they could open their shitholes you would have saved the show.

>new head unilaterally deciding to kill their entire action line up because he didn't like action shows.
This is the first I've heard of it, but I always suspected it was like this. Seems shitty to also shoot yourself in the foot after sinking so much time and money into a project, too.

I wonder if there was some kind of corporate political struggle going on at the time. And why?

Their higher profile action shows at the time were from WB iirc, not specifically in house from CN besides thundercats 2011. Technically they should be working together being under the same parent company I think, but they werent very friendly to GLTAS, Young Justice, and Beware the Batman

It irrevocably damaged Western animation honestly, we were experiencing a veritable golden age comparatively, but after that endless amounts of shit seeped in to fill the gaps. And that's not even getting into the knock on effects and the other factors, like how archaic the way the ratings system on network tv works, or the result of cheap shows with low standards getting put on air, getting basically a free ride due to lack of competition, and then getting copied.

>prioritizing tumblr points instead of racking their brains on trying to tell a story with at least decent payoff
Fuck them they deserved the walk of shame

Because it limited the number of slots it could take up, broke up any hype for it, made it hard to find when it would be on reliable, the like. Killed the ratings.

Right, so somebody else mentioned it but basically while it's well known that certain timeslots get good ratings...ratings for a show are an aggregate. That is to say, within a certain timespan, *all* views are counted for that program, regardless of its actual timeslot. So basically, the reason TTG has good ratings for example? Nothing to do with being popular, everything to do with having that many slots given to it. Taking up that much of the schedule causes that shit to fucking skyrocket. Because you're not just getting the views from one or two timeslots, you're getting "everything" and every suburban single mom and tired dad is leaving it on for the full six ours for timmy and tommy.

You put *any* show on for the majority of the schedule on a children's network and so long as you don't do anything to make mom and dad shut it off that show's going to start wrecking faces.

But that goes two ways. Make it harder and harder to see the show, give it the worst slots, and the least slows, and make it unreliable as fuck? Fucking plummets. Then you point to the low ratings as justification for why it and shows like it need to go.

There's more benefits too. All that schedule fuckery is stressful as shit. It's mind games. Writers start fucking up, animators slip, etc. They don't know how much time they have left, if they'll be canned or not, they get desperate to save their jobs, make bad decisions, etc. And that just hurts it more.

Plus, less views, lower quality, less reliability. Toy sales, if any? Drop, a lot. Demographics shift. Timmy can't get up at 5 in the morning every other day. Jack and Brittney can though, they've got sports, or college, they need to be up early, but Jack and Britt don't buy many toys. They aren't the "Target demographic". Which means more justification for canning

>GLTAS
I fucking loved this show, got me interested in Green Lantern too. Maybe what makes it worse is them purposely sabotaging these shows, and then trying to pretend they weren't part of the reason these shows failed.

That's pretty interesting, I didnt think about how the human factor comes in with staff having to worry about the question of survival

>I don't watch the show
>BUT
>isn't it racist how they made him a racist caricature??? like wow

Concern trollers .

Rise Splinter is a little lazy and a little self involved but the worst thing he's done on screen is take his kids's new car for a joy ride.

Like, come on now. All Splinters have walked the line between harsh ass teacher and loving father, this one is just a goofier model to befit a goofier series. He's not nearly as bad as either of those two.

People are really mad that this one's closer to the 80s show in feel. I think I'd have switched some episodes around, honestly, because waiting until your mid-season slump to reveal, hey, there's a plot and Shredder's here kind of didn't work for the pop they wanted.

I mean the 80s series, 90s films, 2000s series, and 2012 series had a consistent portrayal of the turtles’ personalities and identity than Rise because Rise changed things so drastically that you could have used a new IP for them and no one would have made any connections to TMNT.

I disagree. I love Warren stone, Bullhop, Repo Mantis, Skeleton man, Hippo and crazy spider bitch. I do agree that by the first 10 episodes they aren’t that great, but it’s a show that gets better as it goes along. Once they reveal all the Hot Soup stuff it’s when the show starts to get really good, both in terms of character and action.

Blows my mind we went from that to abusefag Splinter.

>Rise is literally Sonic Boom
Don't you drag Boom into this shit.

>Korra upset its fanbase as much as Voltron

On what fucking planet?

>Voltron's fanbase was the problem! Those darn SJWs!

Dude, Voltron's writers knew from day 1 just how many episodes they would have to tell a story in. Most cartoon writers would kill to know that. They didn't bother to make long-term plans, just winged it every season, and it shows. Don't make excuses for the incompetence in the writers' room. Don't blame it on fans. The writing process was inexcusably incompetent.

>Rise Splinter is a little lazy and a little self involved but the worst thing he's done on screen is take his kids's new car for a joy ride.

The worst things he's done on-screen:
1. Never fucking learned his sons' names
2. Never fucking hugged them until the episode where he said he would hug them if they returned a DVD to redbox for him before a late fee
3. Mocked them for thinking they could ever be martial artists as skilled as him.

He's a piece of shit, stop acting otherwise.
