How come DC never introduced the Legends or a Legends-like team in the comics?

Seems like an obvious bit of synergy.

The closest was when Black Canary, Vixen, The Atom, Killer Frost and the Ray were all on the same Justice League of America book

Should have added Firestorm

DC doesn't really synergize between properties that much.

It always triggers me to see Stein and Firestorm represented as separate individuals in all these promotional images.

what's this show about again? i don't really watch live action stuff

I’m sure it’s happened in one of Rips books

Most of the humor is tied to the actors (Prof Stein saying the designer of the Titanic should be shot) and general arrowverse lore.

Victor Garber was actually a big name, definitely for TV and certainly more so than anyone else. While Brandon Routh had headlined a big budget blockbuster, that wasn't his most recent history. And Not Doctor Who guy had been a biggish fish in two popular doctor runs, he was mre of a niche hire. The actors playing Len and Mick had some recent success but Garber was definitely the bigger 'get' as far as standard casting above the line credits go.

But you are correct that IF they are going to show Jax in Firestorm mode, it's stupid to show Stein as himself.

Ignore the first season and catch a few episodes of S2. It's the most comic book thing on mainstream tv and was definitely the best adaptation until Doom Patrol came on and/or (depending on how you feel about the weird and bizarre) Legion.

Pretty much this - they will release comic books on sale and in digital for a movie or tv show, as they have since Man of Steel, and even reissue trades and HCs at LCSs and bookstores for other things like Shazam! and Aquaman, which has been great in putting stuff back in print or in print for the first time since they were initially released, but yeah, they aren't Marble where they try to mix up their adaptations and their comic books.

The most they did was the digital firsts with Smallville, Arrow, Flash and Supergirl, but other than Smallville, none of those had a long history and by the time Legends came on board (as with Black Lightening as well), it seems like DC has decided against the digital first books - which seems stupid since the only costs are the salaries for the inkers, pencilers and other artists involved.

misfits who don't fucking matter? JLI

They put out an anthology book with solo stories but the book flopped and they didn't try again.

Similarly, the entire "Black Wally" debacle (plus the fact that sales for Green Arrow DROPPED when they did a trial arc with a TV version of Felicity in Green Arrow) seriously soured DC Comics from

Legends is a Justice League International adaptation. White Canary is JLI era Black Canary. Rip was Batman. Rory is Guy. Atom is Blue Beetle. Citizen Steel is Booster etc.

This.

Making the West family black (including Wally) was a huge PR nightmare, especially when the comics made New 52 Wally black and fans shitted on it so fucking hard they had to remove Black Wally from the book mid-introduction storyline.

And for all of the bullshit with regards to the TV show pandering HARD to the Felicity/Ollie shippers, when they tried to retool Green Arrow's book and push the pairing there in said comics, sales DROPPED to the point that Felicity was removed from the book as quickly as she was introduced.

>DC doesn't really synergize between properties that much.
I'm getting pretty fucking sick of this lie. Superman as you know him is practically all synergy

You don’t think something like the All Winners Squad or the Young All Stars would be closer?

Maybe even the 7 Soldiers of Victory desu

No he’s talking about the characters appearing together in a team, The Atom (Choi) Vixen and Black Canary all were in the book you could even say Killer Frost and The Ray we’re there due to synergy as at the time of this books release those two were just coming into the CWverse.

The Book aside from the prequel one shots was god awful though

I think OP meant the idea of the Legends, not necessarily the roster.

DC decided to cancel the Titans book right when the Titans show was going to start airing. DC also is having Dick run around as Ric right as we are getting the first live action version of Nightwing. DC is very spotty when it comes to synergy.

there's the multiversal justice league, but that's a bit larger scale and not exactly time travelly

Who's the guy on the far right? Citizen/Commander Steel?

They did have a Legends of Tomorrow book back in season 1
It sucked, just like season 1

The most blatant example I can think of is Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad. Before stills of the film began to leak Harley Quinn still has a black and red color pallet, and the SS was made up of her, deadshot and various other heroes. Then the film starts coming out, now Harley looks exactly like her movie counter part and the next Suicide Squad comic released is the same roster as in the film even tho we hadn’t seen Enchatress for years and for some strange reason Katana was now part of the team.

I think every CW show has it's own tie-in book.
