The show was produced under dreamworks you /pol/meme spouting tool, and they already have the episode order, netflix is literally just the place it's being hosted on.

It lacks a lot of the over the top action/displays of super strength that Classic MotU/PoP and 2002 MotU displayed.

On the other hand, the characterizations, while giving (almost) everyone goofy moments, are far more fleshed out and interesting. Catra's a pretty nuanced villain, too, for someone who was originally a "rival" that just went around talking with an annoying voice making cat puns and getting jobbed routinely.

The plot itself has gone out of it's way to leave the conflict up to Adora and her friends to resolve with very few implications that Adam/He-Man exist in the setting, but this does at least let Adora come into her own. It's her show, after all.

So it's Different She-Ra. Some people have enjoyed it, everybody loves Entrapta, others hated it from day one, but at least it's better than New Adventures and the early (modern) DC comics that don't feature He-Man for 5 issues and forgot to have any fun until they started crossovers with the DCU at large.

Yeah, I'm not feeling forgiving. They had a solid pilot, ignored pretty much everything good in it, had 20-something odd episodes to find their footing and capped the season off with a plot twist that M. Night would have been ashamed of. And at the time we could be generous and say "well, maybe it was a fake-out and they've got another twist up their sleeves..." The notes just showed that they didn't think there was anything wrong with what they wrote in the first place. Maybe if it had gotten renewed they might have gone in a different direction, but that seems like an absurdly generous assumption. They had a couple dozen episodes to find their footing, they didn't, they dragged the series down with a bad love triangle and a really stupid "twist," and going by their notes they were so out of touch with what was working that they thought their strengths were their weaknesses and their weaknesses were their strengths.

If you've been handed a huge animation budget and got to play with toys that have a built-in fandom, and you fuck it up, you don't deserve to keep getting more chances.
