Writing out any secret identities because it's 'easier' is just a lazy way of writing superhero fiction. You may as well get rid of their costumes and codenames.

The problem is that DC has raped the Superman character on all fronts.
Bendis got rid of his family aspect and turned Superman into a shitty father that abandons his son at the drop of hat. Not to mention that Bendis turned Superman into a sociopath that admitted he constantly imagines killing Batman. And that is just the comics.

The animated movies had him kill and stab people.

The video games made him an evil dictator that kills people with no remorse.

And the DCEU has him purposely destroy buildings full of people and snap Zod’s Neck. And then rather than try to fix the character they abandon him and decide to focus on Batman.

DC has made the general public not give a shit about Superman.

All I wanted was for Jon not to be aged up and for the family to remain together. Was that so much to ask for?!!

Superman belongs in the Public Domain.

No one cares because this already happened. Clark’s identity was exposed during DCYou when he became “Superbro”. Then Rebirth undid his severer identity reveal. Why should anyone care about them repeating the same old story especially when we know it won’t stuck?

I somehow fell that comic authors dont even care about comics anymore.

It isn’t about the characters. It is about the prestige, to be able you say you wrote a hundred issues of ______. Look at King, he never cared about Batman. He just wanted to say he wrote a long run on the character. Which is why most of his run is filler and drags on. Slott never cared about Spider-Man, he just wanted to have the longest run on Spider-Man. And of course these slime balls want to brag when cinema adapts their stuff, even when they change it a lot (like a Bendis and Miles).

It is all about the fame and bragging rights.
