Did Bam Margera ruin this band? They're taken seriously in Europe and Scandinavia, but when you play HIM in front of Americans they only think Bam Margera and brush it away.

I remember walking into the garage of my friends house and this dude my friend's brother hung out with was ODing on who knows what, flopping around on top of the Pontiac Grand Am that was parked in the garage. He was foaming at the mouth and screaming FREE TODD while blasting HIM. I cant listen to any of HIMs music because of this because I can only think of this moment.

somehow i cant picture Bam liking this music. seems way too faggy. i guess they were both gas station cockrock type fags but i feel like Bams a little less openly faggy. that pic looks like. gay porn shoot

They're pretty gay, Bam Margera notwithstanding

this is a great post. stay retarded user

It actually happened topkek

Americans take Clairo and other shit serious so does it matter?

I didn't know Bam had anything to do with them. I just always figured they were gay music for teenage girls so I didn't listen to them. I saw HIM the same way boys today probably see BTS

were they for edgy skater dudebros or for teen girls? im leaning towards the latter but i also do remember ppl writing the heart symbol for bam and him

Bam is probably legit the only reason they gained a sizeable audience in the US

I liked/still like HIM but honestly they had more female fans. They had some male fans too obviously, but they were seen as kind of a chick band by people. My friends called it gay when I would play it.
>i also do remember ppl writing the heart symbol for bam and him
A lot of people back then did just wear merch with the logo just because they were Bam fans and associated it with him, it's like some people thought it was a brand

Last time you posted this you said he hung himself to Killing Loneliness.

Join Me In Death is a genuinely good pop song, also a few others but I can't remember what they were called.
their "metal" stuff sucks, they're at their best when they're making catchy love songs

The last real rockstar

Bam Margera promoted HIM for awhile, must have been contractual or something.

This is what I think of when I hear Bam Margera though.

No I didnt but Im glad this became copypasta shitpost status enough to where people made lore up about it

Agreed, they didn't do pussy political correct shit. They drinked and smoked like fucking trains. They actually gave a shit about image. Their guitar work is very hard rock inspired.

If only modern bands would follow in this direction

Did he live? My bad you had to see it.

Bam broke Todd out and Todd used the Heartagram to revive him

Bam was legit a massive fan of HIM, to the point where copied tattoos, changed his hairstyle. He became an alcoholic and bulimic when he started actually hang around Ville because Ville barely ate any food, would also drink about a liter of liqour a day and smoke 3 packs of cigarettes.
But since he used their logo they shared trademark for his skateboard sales. Soon after a few years they stopped.

these anons got it right, based earth rockers
also bam clearly looked up to the guy, look at how he dresses in jackass 1, he was hardcore simping for the band, it's sweet
peak bam if you ask me

>not becoming the gf and getting a bf
Cringe

Plot twist he married the Pontiac Grand Am

>i feel like Bams a little less openly faggy
anal bead kite, hammer game dildo

>uterus tattoo
That'll never not be funny

that's not where the uterus is

I discovered HIM because of Bam Margera, but I couldn't believe how fucking boring their music was. I read it was goth metal, but I thought there had to be goth metal that was more interesting than this shit. So I looked it up and discovered Type O Negative, Tiamat, and Moonspell, who are all great.

So I guess I should thank Bam and HIM for prompting a young teen me to research goth metal.

Darkwave > goth metal
youtu.be/WCqaXfFJD9c

pretty much all the goth chicks from the 2000s found Ville Valo really attractive.

androgynous men are much desirable than hypermasculine douchebags who live at the gym

That's deathrock, not darkwave.

>My friends called it gay when I would play it
amerifats...

My bad, got them mixed up.
Darkwave is like Perturbator

Guy you made the recommendation to - no. I like darkwave, but I think you're mixed up. Darkwave is like Lycia and Black Tape for a Blue Girl. Here's one of my favorite darkwave albums: youtube.com/watch?v=K6Y7lQjwNOc

Still, I don't quite understand the recommendation, because if goth metal is on one side of gothic rock, darkwave is on the opposite side. Tiamat is a great band.

Opposite for me, I think Type O Negative is boring and HIM has far more edge.

HIM has underrated riffs but you're actually retarded if you think it's better than Type O

Yes, by other men for sure. In fact i could go for some twink's valussy right now.

I once saw a video of them playing live and the singer was smoking a cigg while singing. I think that's why they're not taken seriously. They take themselves too seriously.

>They're taken seriously in Europe and Scandinavia

All that means is Europe and Scandinavia have shit taste.

Read some interviews with Ville. Bam just showed up one day and forced himself into the band‘s inner circle. They didn’t even like him lmao

I once met Ville Valo in a restaurant in Helsinki, when our party had inadvertently been given his table. Apparently he had some sort of his own regular table and the restaurant had screwed up (they thought he was coming on Tuesday but he came on Thursday or something).

Anyway, the manager, very embarrassed (it was a place with a bit of a fancy end to it) arrived, apologising as best he could, and told us that he wanted to move us to another table for some reason. Of course, they would replace our food if we would only bother to change tables. My sister and my cousin, of course, enthusiastically agreed immediately, but I decided to play a little pee-pee.

I told them how I couldn't possibly understand this and asked them why on earth we couldn't finish our meal in peace, when we'd only arrived 15 minutes ago and had just ordered.

Then, out of nowhere, Ville Valo appears next to the manager, who kindly tells us that they have time to wait at the bar as long as we finish our meal.

As a huge HIM fan, I naturally went into full lockdown myself and apologised in turn, how we could of course move to another place so they could have "their" table".

Ville was of course very grateful, shook my hand and thanked me and gave me a business card and asked me to call back later. I worked up the courage for a long time, but finally I got the phone and called my great idol. To cut a long story short, an eleven-month sexual relationship full of raucous male-on-male action erupted between us that I will never forget in my lifetime. Our bodies merged over and over again into one beautiful whole and from the beauty of Morocco to the French Riviera and all the way to the beaches of the Galapagos with snorkels in our mouths, Ville Valo and I fulfilled our most obscene homosexual desires on six of the seven continents.

I'm here just to post the gayest picture on earth

>dissing BTS to be cool

I'm not an army, but they do have some good songs. Simply dismissing them due to your own prejudice is kinda faggy.

My brother in Christ. BTS does not have some good songs.

You're so cool, user.

>Did Bam Margera ruin this band?

they never had any real type of standing in America to be ruined.

>America is the world
Cope

it is the world durr

HIM is just Type O Negative for people who like Invader Zim

I like Type O Negative and Invader Zim...

He has a heartogram tattooed on his chest lmao

i liked funeral of hearts and rip of the wings of a butterfly, there was also that one song in smallville which i forget the name of

You have not listened to HIM if you think they sound the same.

One of my exes was obsessed with HIM, and I don't think she even knew who Bam Margera is

This album is the best way to get into HIM.

Type O Negative is Type O Negative for people who like Invader Zim

They've had several radio hits. Wings Of A Butterfly and Killing Loneliness was on constant repeat around 05-06. Saying HIM isn't good is like say Oasis isn't good because the radio in America only played Wonderwall.

I remember "Right Here In My Arms" was on the radio a lot when I was in Illinois.

Forgot to mention this was around 2006.
