How is this a bad thing? By making so many it expanded a concept and made many new stories. A lot of things ruined Ctg but getting bigger was not one of them.

Yes it was, the Bloat was annoying as hell, the people that requested them never even tried to create an interesting character and most of them weren't even tangibly related to children's network television or even animation. But honestly, no one really minded if they weren't related to the original premise, but Jesus Christ, actually make them interesting instead of just waifubait and nothing else.

The thing with console-tans is they had multiple versions.
Technically there should be at the very least different decade versions of the Channel-tans.
Part of me thinks they shouldn't be Channels at all but instead decades of animation or particular prolific styles or studio based.

Mostly the Latter but it was a problem even early on where Greentext writers, or just writers in general could be easily overshadowed. Especially when no one would draw something from the story, or discussion, or people would outright ignore it.

Writefags weren't mad about that, a lot of people liked their greentexts and shit. Until our threads were pushed well into 2am or 3am Eastern Time and the threads were halfway over with well before mid-day ever started. People loved the writefags and art was made of their ideas. Some writers moved on to other places and some tried to stay, but Gatsky/Zetta/Lune told the very few writers we had left that they didn't contribute shit and he then went on to samefag every "new and original" artwork that he commissioned 20+ times.
Don't try and pin the degradation of the threads to salty writefags, they weren't the ones who harassed artists and samefagged commissioned works to pretend there was interest in some foreign channels no one ever heard of.

I think Channel-tans was was just very, very, VERY unlucky. I personally don't think it'll stay dead forever and still has a chance of becoming a staple on the board.
