There 's also Araña,a character who would have been a hundred times better as Miguel O'harra's daughter, or even more sane, if Peter Parker was always a white Hispanic from Queens and his daughter would therefor be half white spanish, half red head american.

The last time I had this conversation it was on Penny-Arcade forums and it pre-saged the coming of Miles Morales. I don't want to do it again. Go back in time and take ask around Queens New York and find out who had no parents and was living in their aunts house when Stan Lee was inventing Spider-man. Then Hypnotize whoever invented Miguel O'harra and ask them why Spanish name/Irish name was used for Spider-man 2099.
I despise 99% of liberal culture, as poisonous as it is, but it has its uses. Acknowledging the white washing of last media is one of them. All the characters in early comics were either Regular (White) or gimmick (Black, asain, Hispanic) main stream characters HAD to be non-denominational in their ethnicity/religion/culturee, but it's really obvious that Peter is incredibly Jewy, if not Jewish, and also, in my opinion he was probably always half Puerto Rican half Irish. No accent, no language, just a regular white American to everybody. New York is a thing.

Peter david created Miguel O'hara, I suppose he thought doing a mixed race white guy would be the best representation of the future. But honestly Miguel just needs to tan. Also Bucky Barnes is Puerto Rican. I.M.O. If you looked mixed, or have brown eyes and don't express as an ethnic person, if you have in-accented language, I don't care if your from Morocco or New Zealand, you're Puerto Rican.

Reality isn't even fucking real, yo. You know I found out there were black Germans in pre-Nazi Germany. If Araña is "some rando" as the kids say, then her lack of a costume reads as chintzy and second hand. Her skin normal clothes showing leave her looking poor and exposed. Her weird exoskeleton looks tacky and vague.

But if she's Peter Parker or Miguel O'harra's daughter than her skin and clothes showing expresses confidence and belonging, more of an adult that her father and able to wear equipment rather than a costume. If Araña comes FROM Peter or Miguel than her exoskeleton shows her mastery of something like a symbiotic or her refinement of something like futuristic technology.

What was REALLY missing from Araña was heritage to do contextualize her look for the audience.

But there are plenty (not really, maybe a few) of innocent fans who we get brining that kind of insecurity to the character so if you like Araña I could understand why you might not see the importance of what I am explaining.

Honestly May having that costume is both the best choice and plays on the clone conspiracy bullshit in the best way in both giving May a costume and giving her an “Uncle” Ben.

Miggy was Irish Mexican so it was ok, also dirty little secret, 2099 line of comics went into more of the multicultural and leftist storylines and characters but actually did them from a 90s politically incorrect view which worked.

Seeings how he's able to keep himself alive compared to the other Peters, I'd said, you get what you get.

Time Travel plot would be interesting. 2099 goes back to the past to get Peter B. to help with funky dimensional bullshit going on in Neuvo York, ends up getting May instead.
