I've actually considered writing a satirical story in which the "Gamers Rise Up" meme comes true and all the gamers actually rise up. I'm not sure how to play it, though. Would you want the gamers all to be as fat, out of shape, and ineffectual as you'd expect, and for law enforcement and the military to BTFO them? Or would you want to turn the tables, do the unexpected, and have the gamers actually successfully rise up, using their elite gaming skills to overthrow the society they despise?

Unless it's a comedy, to be honest, the only thing "Gamers" could do besides being useful idiots or committing yet another bunch of random spree killings (which wouldn't change anything and end with them dead or in jail) would be if Gamers who are also programming nerds managed to threaten cybersecurity of someone or something who matters. Even then, the government would just hire a few as "consultants" after throwing a few in prison and the small group of consultants would obey and do as they're told in exchange for a pretty nice salary and staying free.
Massive level disruption like the French Revolution is harder in most places now and takes military rebellion or really coordinated efforts from a huge enough cross section of the population (not just one group) that the economy is disrupted. Even then, look at how hard a time Hong Kong has it, despite being one of the better organized and civil examples in a pretty developed area (though in fairness to them China is the single toughest opposition to beat in the world right now on this, I think, they've been putting down this type of thing forever).
