What is the point with this reimagining?

I guess with regular capeshit you want the brand recognition on your side but who knew about The Boys outside boards like this before the series? For whom was this made for? Is it really that hard to create concepts like The Seven or Vough American that you have to buy the rights for something already done and alter it so much you cant even call it an adaption?

guy with thing able to sell thing better than guy without thing to sell

Money

No, but you have to remember that these aren't made in a vacuum. Let's assume that The Boys tv show started out as a completely unrelated project and was never intended to be an adaptation. It has to pass through a legal department and through corporate execs, and if at any point one of them goes, "Hey that reminds me of something," they immediately have to gamble on the project being distinct enough that any potential lawsuit would be completely one-sided in their favor. If from their perspective it would be cheaper to buy the rights then deal with any potential legal troubles (which could cost them a lot of money) they'll just buy the rights. And once they have the rights if they think that slapping the name and a couple of attributes on the project can pull in more audience or get them more hype they'll do it.

It was made specifically to piss Garth Ennis off by doing his magnum opus better than him.

By completely fucking over all the major plotpoints?
Sure showed him.

>tell a smarter story about normal people having to figure out how to kill super-powered people, rather than LE COOL BLACK TRENCH COAT MEN HAVE LE REEEEAL FORMULA XDDDD
>exchange a boring, tired women in refrigerator motivation for an actually surprising twist that complicates the situation
>do a better job making clear that the corporation is the real villain instead of SUPERHEROES BAD AND DUMB >:(
>budgetary constraints force them to tone down the absurd, edgy 14 year old tier use of gore and sex
It's just an objectively better, more mature plot.

>>tell a smarter story about normal people having to figure out how to kill super-powered people, rather than LE COOL BLACK TRENCH COAT MEN HAVE LE REEEEAL FORMULA XDDDD
It really isn't smarter, at least in the comics The Boys had to deal with other supers and didn't kill one of the Seven in the first volumes like the show did. There's also no reason why any of the Seven or anyone at Vought shouldn't have immediately killed them when they found out who they were because they don't have any leverage on any of them.
>>exchange a boring, tired women in refrigerator motivation for an actually surprising twist that complicates the situation
And turns Butcher's wife into a cheating cunt, ruins Butcher Baker Candlestick Mater and makes Butcher even more pathetic than he already was in the show.
>>do a better job making clear that the corporation is the real villain instead of SUPERHEROES BAD AND DUMB >:(
Did you not read the entire volume that was dedicated to explaining that Vought were the bad guys?
>>budgetary constraints force them to tone down the absurd, edgy 14 year old tier use of gore and sex
What the fuck does the money have to do with that?
They were going to do it anyways.

I agree desu. Pretty much everything in the TV show except for the history and lore was better. better script , better characters, cooler reveals/
(I liked the idea of supes being involved in WW2 and 9/11 and the CIA being at odds with Vought and this worldbuilding would have made the show a bit better desu.)

Is the show actually better than the comic? The comic was ok but you could feel the hatred coming off the pages. My god, not a single cape was even a decent person.

Unironically THIS

>Is the show actually better than the comic?
Considerably. The actual comic is filled with cringey 'ow, the edge.'

>you could feel the hatred coming off the pages
Right? It reminds me of reading Kick-Ass after watching the first movie and being amazed at just how much contempt the comic had for the very people that were reading it.

Yeah.
The characters aren't caricatures like they are in the comic. The Seven are still bad guys but more sympathetic.

does the show make the blonde girl suck 3 dicks

No, she sucks only one dick.

who's?

Homelander had a masterbation scene where he was flying over New York repeating "I can do whatever the fuck I want" then coming over New York. That scene was cut for obvious reasons.

So they aren't that smart

Not-Aquaman. He gets shat on later by life and turns into a joke but the show hints that he'll be getting a redemption arc. Amusingly, it reminds me more of Tekknight.

The Deep

This, plus it's nice to see it throw the comic fans a few fanservice stuff here and there with Simon Pegg as the cherry on top.

I want to know the name of the hero sir, not how about deepthroating

Amazing how this is better than adaptation Preacher.

How disappointing must a person be to actually think The Boys is a good comic

>Garth Ennis
>Well written

Because The Boys was incredibly dated and there was a lot of room for improvement.

Arguably. I can understand why someone would prefer the comic but I really liked how they tried to flesh out the characters a lot more in the show compared to the source material.

You're right, it's not an adaptation.
It's a total and complete improvement.
