Marvel solicitations today

>marvel solicitations today
Is the marvel solicitations today?
Brody Brooks
I'm so nervous. Today they'll officially announce some of the series I want to see, but also might announce new ones I DON'T want to see. I just want confirmation that Cates is off GOTG and that someone better is taking over, please... (no Aaron)
Also the Annihilation Scourge thing can't be just written by Rosenberg, give me someone like Ewing or Bowers or Cady, c'mon don't disappoint me Shogun...
Julian Thomas
Solicitations aren't tell Thursday, newfag
Camden Cooper
Who could possibly give a fuck with the trash Marvel puts out?
Hudson Cooper
it's either tuesday or thursday
Isaac Walker
It’s really a shame you didn’t support Duggan on GotG
Charles Turner
Here I'll give you the Marvel formula so you can make your own solicitations at home whenever you want
>villain appears!
>it's an event!
>hero is in over his/her head!
>the outcome will shake the very foundation of the Marvel universe!
>NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME!
>exclamation points!
>written by Matthew Rosenberg
>drawn by Humberto Ramos
>this issue will ship with 5,000 variant covers
Thomas Hughes
Excuse me for not living in the states to be able to buy the floppies as they came out, BUT I did support the series, I bought the trades as soon as they were released to make the numbers count. And on top of that, I'm buying the Infinity Wars omnibus that will come out next month which includes Infinity Countdown also, one of my favorite parts of it (sans the reversion of Lifebringer). I did enjoy Duggan's run a lot and the things it brought like Darkhawk but it was definitely cut short because of the forced synergy event. Fuck that.
Luis Gonzalez
I can't believe rosenberg is taking over immortal hulk, baka
The floppy system is totally busted, I hate the industry's reliance on it
Samuel Powell
Man I remember people shitting on this run because of Syngery, and I don’t ever remember seeing Moondragon or Beta Ray Bill in the MCU for then synergy points. Weird
Hudson Bell
>everytime a superhero goes out on patrol, the solicit writes instead that the character "stretched his legs."
David Kelly
And then when Cates' run came out, where a lot of people were claiming it was going to be a "return to DnA without synergy", then proceeded to add all these synergy bits, like Hela and Gamora/Peter, among others? Such fun!
Eli Sullivan
Where was Hela in the GotG movies? Peter / Gamora is pretty bad, but no where near as bad as Peter / Kitty that we had shoved down our throats for years. Honestly this isn’t nearly as bad as most people make it out to be, but then again, that could just be because I personally am not a big fan of Cosmic Stuff.
Juan Mitchell
>I can't believe rosenberg is taking over immortal hulk, baka
A part of me died.
Ian Williams
Rosenberg is very by the numbers outside of x-men where he realised he can do anything. I would rather him than Aaron
Justin Watson
>but no where near as bad as Peter / Kitty that we had shoved down our throats for years
... Which was still referenced in the run.
Also Gamora wasn't in GOTG but she was replaced as Death in Cates' run because he can't do Abstracts, so he has to stick the Thor lore once again (as if Beta Ray Bill in the team wasn't enough).
>that could just be because I personally am not a big fan of Cosmic Stuff.
This is exactly what I hear from people enjoying this run, in fact I saw someone on Reddit claiming this was good because "none of the previous runs aside from Black Vortex" appealed to them. But even then, how can you like this, seriously? Everyone speaks in a different voice and it's all the same set up for the beginning of each arc.
Ayden Howard
I hated Duggans run because it was clearly 50% exactly what I want, and 50% synergy, and other ways to lure in new fans of the series.
Xavier Campbell
Well I’m glad that they aren’t just ignoring the Kitty and Peter stuff, it’s a good to remember just how bad things were before today. I should also clarify that I’m not currently following Cates’ GotG (mainly because I’m not a big fan of cosmic), I only pulled Duggan’s run because I liked Duggan’s Deadpool and wanted to see what he’d do with the team after Bendis ran them into the ground.
Side note, the only good thing about Black Vortex was the costume change Gamora had, I’m a sucker for cosmic window costumes even tho I’m not to hip on the genre itself. From many of the complaints I have herd about the run, it seems like it mostly boils down to two things “Synergy” and going by your post that seems to be a very very bare minimum, as if the team of Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot would be grounds to shout Synergy. And the second complaint is that DnA was better, but that complaint is also foolish, the run would be different no matter what unless DnA came back to write a follow up to their 2008 (?) run.
I understand the complaints, I just don’t fully agree with them, however, my opinion is worth a bit less since I’m not pulling the title or following the title beyond passing pages, articles and threads discussing the run.
Nathaniel Richardson
>and 50% synergy
Very little of it was actually synergy, specially now compared to Cates' run which is thinly disguised as 50% pet characters and 50% synergy.
Anthony Young
It's been a while since I read it. I'll give it a reread for the hell of it.
I also ain't reading Cates run.
Luke Anderson
I am not one of these DnA cultists who ironically don't remember a lot of the things that actually went down on it, even though I really enjoyed that run... I understand that things weren't going to be the same and it's why I welcomed the new take Duggan brought (specially since the art was stellar). It's more like there's a subsector of "fans" who constantly whine about synergy when things don't go their way, but when it comes to actually READING what's in the page, they turn a blind eye to it. Cates' run has been complete nonsense, but it's given a pass by a lot of people because it features some favorites and because Cates is hot shit right now. Well, I do agree he's shit, that's for certain.
And I don't think you miss anything by not reading his run, aside from getting annoyed at the way he handles these characters and the dour repetitiveness of his plots. Dude has been trash in Cosmic and the only hot property he has (Cosmic Ghost Rider) he makes sure to shove everywhere, it's now in what, its third miniseries? As well as appearances in Avengers of all places.
The synergy aspects of Duggan's run came later after Infinity Countdown, when he did the Infinity Wars event (which was originally supposed to be an arc). That was most definitely editorially mandated and people were annoyed by it, but it didn't taint the things that came before. It was Duggan who reintroduced the Elders, put Nova and Darkhawk front and center and played with the concept of the Infinity Stones in ways the movies were never going to do, as well as bringing back Phyla and Moondragon (even if they were alternate universe versions).
Landon Phillips
>Baby Groot
>Movie cast
>Costumes all suck
>Milano ship
>Proclaimers 80's music with stereo
That's my issue with the first issue. The idea of it is alright, and it's fun, but I can't help but feel it spirals into nothing interesting. Like a paper-thin attempt at just pushing them into the spotlight instead of doing something useful with them. I'll keep reading though.
Charles Edwards
That's just the beginning, though... Groot does evolve beyond that, and the "movie cast" is shuffled a bit later.
Isaac Morris
>Rosenberg is taking over immortal hulk
Nigger, you better be joking.
Alexander Wilson
>The synergy aspects of Duggan's run came later
>That's just the beginning, though...
???
Christopher Allen
He was just picking up from the previous run... You know, Bendis? Don't blame him for using characters that were already active before he was tackling the book. It was abandoned over time, and THEN when Infinity War came out, Editorial asked him to turn his Infinity Quest story (that was Warlock and Gamora-centric) into Infinity Wars, the synergy event.
Evan James
By “Movie Syngery” people mean
>Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket are on the roster
>the infinity STONES are involved
>Quill’s costume
>Drax’s humor
>no space Barbarian outfit for Gamoran
>the Milano
>Loki was in an issue
>Gamora in Soul World
Personally I was super fucking hyped to see that the Nova from the Battleworld: Infinity Gauntlet mini series was around and pregnant with her eldest kid from that mini, really liked how Loki mindfucked The Gardener, the fact that the Space Stone was the size of a small asteroid, Drax struggling to be a pacifist and the issue where you learn how he earned the name “Destroyer”. I really liked that comic and was bummed to see it end so abruptly.
Kayden Morris
>and the issue where you learn how he earned the name “Destroyer”
And then when they first learned they were gonna have a baby (Heather Douglas).
Easton Reed
>tfw I remember someone saying that was supposed to be Ego and Peter’s mom
But honestly, nice wholesome page. Duggan did good work with the series
