That plot was fine, it was the only good thing of Season 3 and affected lots of characters (OP post being a neat example) What we didn't need are love triangles and demon cucking. Tom and Kelly should have remained background characters.
The contents of the Book of Spells and their consequences would have made incredible episodes.
That's what I think. Glossaryck knew magic was going to die yet trained Meteora as a baby (something completely new) and stated magic would be in good hands with her, then procures the only MHC member loyal to her remains in a realm apart from time itself... so he was most likely not affected by the whispering spell.
Reynaldo might still be alive and be the key to magic restoration along with Meteora, which is the reason Nefcy claimed there was material for a Season 5/Movie

Tom and Kelly were unnecesary and only made Marco and Star look even more like assholes... which is again, unnecesary, because Star has been an asshole since Season 1 and Marco crowned himself as an ass too when he broke up with Jackie.
Starco is great simply because they can't ruin other people's trust in love and relationships that way. They are toxic as hell.
