Can we have a pure old appreciation of slutty 1990's costumes without the retarded trolling?
I like it, and I want it to come back. I don't want it on every character but on those that fit for it.

Good costume just not for Diana
no. this shit is stupid and has to be called out.
GOAT
Cringe
> i like it
huh imagine liking something that targets your demographic. its like it was some sort of business decision or something.
ITT lazy designs
Posted this in another thread
It's those high-cut panties/thongs. Wish more women would wear them today. Makes their hips wider and really accentuates the legs.
That and there's just something about women pre-2000s that made them hotter. Maybe it's hair, clothing and make-up.
faggot
What are you fucking gay
Did this turbothot ever have more than one appearance? I know there's an Echo at marvel
where is this one from?
is it worth getting into it?
Sorry that your either gay or to fat to cosplay
Sure, but only if people don't sperg out when others disagree as to whether or not a particular slutty costume actually looks good.
most of these are just colored underwear, which is a shit design
Yes. Mike Deodato's Wonder Woman
thanks fren
This is mid-2000s though.
its impossible in the mainstream market. possible in indies. although if it becomes popular sjws will demand to censor it.
No, because fuck you incel no one can have nice things that make your peepee hard anymore
Who this?
Suck a fat one
Scarlet Witch in her 90s suit
Is that from a Drawthread? It looks like it's still work in progress.
it is yeah, i never got the drawfriend to finish it
in fact IDK if they ever came back
>flashing Dianas pussy to the reader by barely hiding it in the shadow
90s comics were based
Remember, Black Cat was never more heroic than when she had her tits out and a neckline that went just north of her border
That's the worst pic of that costume, it was better when they drew her as a tittymonster spilling out of a child-size costume.
did she also have a mid life crisis like sue and want to try being a slut for a bit?
>did she also have a mid life crisis like sue and want to try being a slut for a bit?
They both must be too young for a mid life crisis. Unlike her earlier villain costume, or the later gypsy costume, which were both changing her look in reaction to traumatic events, no reason was given her wearing that costume, she started wearing it after becoming leader of the West Coast Avengers. The more authority and responsibility she has, the less she wore, pic related was what she wore as deputy leader of the Avengers.
No it's not, it's attractive and it makes me want to read the comic. Why do you want to be catered to but don't want ME to be catered to? You are depriving me, you deserve to be hated for that.
Snu Snu Artemis or also best amazon ever
Why restrict the thread to just 1990s?
It's not stupid, it's sexist.
It seems to me that these women are at their best and most heroic when they wear the least.
Other than Sue I guess, she was just a bad girl
>It's not stupid, it's sexiest.
Spelling is important, user, a typo can change the whole meaning of a sentence.

>That and there's just something about women pre-2000s that made them hotter. Maybe it's hair, clothing and make-up.
and a culture that preferred fit and toned bodies to fat and curves
Fucking women, I swear
that ain't even slutty
Probably the best looking Thing I’ve seen in a while, love the mask and gun.
I also like it, but I really don't want it to come back.
blatant pandering (Of other types too, but also this) is part of the reason comics took a nose dive in the 90s. Cheesecake is fine, but bad things happen when you pidgeonhole your fanbase like this
To be fair, it was the 90s. Thor was dressing like He-Man at some point, so it's fair game.
They were still >>>>>>>>>>> than the tacticool 2000s, though.
>It seems to me that these women are at their best and most heroic when they wear the least.
So who was the best and most heroic of them all?
I like it too not because it's slutty but because those lines look better in comics, like it's smoother to have skin-tight looking outfits than trying to draw tatitcool over-designed stuff, does that make any sense?
Old School Starfire is always a hands down winner
The hottest Legionnaire to me is always Dawnstar
That hs to be riding up her asscrack, right?
Maybe
>Reed half sister
Was that, wasn't? Anyway, what of her? Did they used her ever again?
>Did they used her ever again?
Seems like they did not, don't remember if her being related to Reed was true or false.
Not enough belts and useless pouches. Also I dont want to see their feet, because they're hard to draw and that makes me angry.
Polaris has what you need, just crop her feet out of the image.
Black Widow always had a bodysuit. In the 90s she was in the grey suit with the pixie cut.
Yes, but not in the way you would think.
This is her, in the middle, in her first appearance.
whoops, that was Justice League Quarterly #1.
This was her next appearance, in Justice League Quarterly #8.
Max Lord had arranged for her to get a record deal, so she quit the Conglomerate.
As a result, she changed her image to be more like the pop stars
Then Mark Waid wrote the JL Quarterly issue #12, completing the transformation from momma's girl to that
>Black Widow always had a bodysuit. In the 90s she was in the grey suit with the pixie cut.
Later in the 1990s when she returned to the black bodysuit, it would be unzipped to expose cleavage, this became her default look for years.
I miss the hair really
Okay. You called it out. Well done. Move along, now.
It's kind of a big deal.
Right?
...
Fucking hate what they did to her in the new series.
Dressing like a prostitute doesn't seem very heroic.
au contraire mon frère. Dressing in skimpy outfits that highlight the ideal figure is text book definition of heroism. Heroes are big. Heroes are iconic and inspiring. Heroes are larger than life embodiment of ideals.
that's pure sex
the only thing they inspire is erections
I think they usually look tacky as hell, but that one looks pretty cool. Sauce?
they shouldn't dress like sluts.
Look at Namor. He-Man. Conan. Hulk. Men are sexualized just as much.
The idealized human form should naturally be attractive. Of course people are gonna get hard over it.
Ah yeah she turned out to be a xenomorph clone monster eventually
What a waste.
>they shouldn't dress like sluts.
>they shouldn't dress
OK.
Can't have nice things
Sorry, I thought it was clear I was making a Liefield joke.
Yeah the Winter Guard mini was not that great in handling characters since it tried REAL hard to pare down all the Russian superheroes to the "classic" Soviet Super-Soldiers plus a few new ones. I get that they didn't want to have a full Avengers clone lineup, but some of the characters they killed off were a lot cooler than the ones they kept. At least several of them came back later, but Fantasma was "always" an alien monster apparently.
>but Fantasma was "always" an alien monster apparently.
I mean you could fix that reasonably easy, have her secretly have grown to actually care about the team or whatever, revert back to human form and boom now you got a heroine who can turn into a squid monster for added fetish fuel. Not that anyone will care to undo this shit. This is why I can't read capeshit anymore.
I think all that shitposting about how awful this was has actually made me come around and start liking this Scarlet Witch look. Oh I still prefer the classic one with the hairband but this isn't honestly bad, at least not when it gets better art than that infamous limited series did.
Im just tired of comics, games, movies and whatever else acting like they're ashamed of what they are.
Google informs me there was a "second" Fantasma a few years later in one of the interminable Black Widow stealth mini series. She looked and acted pretty much the same, so I'm just gonna headcanon that this was the actual Fantasma who had just been stashed away by the dire wraiths for a while.
I don't even really care about the character herself specifically I just hate this kind of shit on principle.
This is grotesque you pigs.
Anyone have 90s Polaris in X-Force? She was basically wearing a thong. Same with Namorita.
...
All super heroine costumes should have thigh highs
Thigh highs? Or mile-high thigh highs?
All superheroines should try a high-cut leotard or bikini costume at least once in their career
They don't dress like sluts. You on the other hand shouldn't talk like a bigot. Shut up and sit down.
The ZR is the important bit.
I'm dense. What's, "ZR" in this context?
People like to look at attractive people. Fuck off
Think of it as just instagram thotting before social media even existed.
Nah, there's an even lewder version. Wish I had the issues on my computer.
zettai ryouiki. It references to space between the stocking and the skirt/pants part of an outfit.
Ah, thanks. Makes sense.
Another great costume I was made aware of through Yea Forums troll threads
Kek what a fag
>less revealing that her original or Binary outfit
You could have at least posted a pic where it was drawn with sideboob and a high, narrow cut bikini line.
>90s thread
>No Jim Lee
I am dissapoint
he created the buttfloss trend
I dunno, I dont remember Sue being that heroic when she had this costume. She looked pissed 24/7.
That's exactly what I wrote.
I was about to add "But she always looked pissed most of the time no matter the costume." and was looking for a pic.
Try the Zenescope books. Most of their characters are strong, but sexily drawn women. Stories aren't any better/worse than Big Two capeshit, but they at least know their audience are heterosexual men and not approving soccer moms and pink haired non-binary lesbians twitter twats.
Can we go back to the mini jacket look? It was peak aesthetic
ah yes, the lewdest parts of the body: tits, crotch, and the top of the shins
> appreciation thread
just be honest and say you wanted a pinup thread, don’t try to dress up you post like you’re a casualgater
I miss her :(
I heard that Zenescope have a large female following. Bitches love scantily clad women. Gen 13, Witchblade and Darkchylde was popular with them back in the day
Bump.
I loved them too. Looked great for girls and guys.
no
but it's a good trend regardless
They do, especially the fairy tale stuff. Ive run into far more women that love them than guys.
based and redpilled thread
Hitler is actually right this time. Heroes, by definition, had godlike heritage in them (at least in Ancient Greece). It makes sense that they dress however they like, since they are above puny humans who need things like armor or hatred of women to feel like they have some sort of power.
Are thongs over spats slutty?
Ah, Byrne costume Wondy
Just started reading.
This is a hell lot of cheese cake
ikr
I like Jimbo
No, kid...this was what Joe Quesada art used to look like.
Damn, Wonder Woman looks like THAT?
Sex negative feminism is a joke. Enjoy your burkas.
>Sorry, I thought it was clear I was making a Liefield joke.
Yes, but that costume fit the joke, except for the feet being visible.
Halloween is coming user, just tell people you're dressed as Trunks
The salvation I got as a pre-teen and didn't know I needed until I hit puberty.
back when poison ivy was a smol angry woman without superpowers
They were specifically designed for faggots.
They are why comics have such a bad reputation.
she had superpowers by this point.
In fact, she got superpowers in the 1970s in the pages of World's Finest. Conway gave her a new backstory and powers in a couple issues. She got poisoned by some asshole she was in love with, survived, and became immune to all toxins.
The story ended with her going off a cliff, and she wasn't seen for a few years after
I wish that the 90s Diana outfit would make a comeback. Maybe have Artemis wear it.
She wasn't Harley's clit sleeve either
>acknowledging costumes
This feels so dirty
Yes I know she was toxin immune, I am referring to her plant control and pheromone powers which she didn't get in the comics until the late 90s.
Subtlety thy name is Beachum.
I kind of wish Black Widow’s costume was more than just the bodysuit. I mean, also have elements of tacticool Sam-Fischer-style shit, to make it more intersting than just a simple skintight suit, and complement her being a spy
The art in her mini and the short hair made things worse, but the main problem was how it was such a drastic change. Wanda had a distinctive look, and there was nothing about this costume to indicate it was her.
Wanda was too big to fit into this costume. That was very important.
Why was the costume too small?
wanda's too stacked
Lots of heroines are stacked. Some are blessed with big heaving sidewinders, visible from behind. Few would choose to let her girls swing freely under a flimsy gown that's too small to cover them. Only Wanda would do this while leading a team and commanding their respect.
>big heaving sidewinders
>swing freely under a flimsy gown
bro
Heroes Reborn had my favourite F4 suits
there should a full nude superheroine. other than that one from Go Nagai
Why do people like these overly sexual costumes?
I just find it distracting, and makes it harder to immerse in the stories.
Because it's fun. It's about making the comic be a giant over the top spectacle. It's about fantasy. It's about adventure. It's about an image. It's schlock but it's sincere schlock. People like a giant bombastic comic book. It's a fucking comic book.
>Muh immersion
Go read a real book then you fucking hypocrite. Or at least not cape shit. This is an entire genre built on the idea of men in tights punching their problems away. Who the hell are you trying to impress.
male gaze. comics books have been geared towards young male children since their inception and when the 90's pandering and excess that inflated comic book sales came around, the costumes got even more pandering and stupider.
this isn't the case anymore now that comic book propierties have gone fully mainstream due to movies and cartoons, slut costumes have ceased to exist because publishers are no longer pandering to sexually frustated teenagers.
What is this
And yet comic sales continue to circle the drain. The "None sexually frustrated teenagers" you're desperate to prove yourselves as have likely never set foot in a comic shop. You'll go see the movies and then it's off to hot topic to load up on funco pops. Comics aren't mainstream and I'd still take any thing that came out of the 90s than this garbage.
Gen13
>publishers are no longer pandering to sexually frustated teenagers
Technically they still are, but now it's for the ones that never were interested in reading or buying comics anyway.
>but comic book sales!
so? merch and movies make more than book sales could ever make, Marvel and DC are safe and they'll keep making all-inclusive comics and also make money off those.
the importance of losing bathing suit costumes is basically negligible
>sacrifice/mock your core audience to appeal to people who don't buy your comics
>But muh movie sales
>COMICS BETRAYED US!
And ideals... are bulletproof.
BRRRRRRRRRT
Shit... that was.... ideas.
Because they are beautiful to look at and I like beautiful attractive things. You have shit taste so you will never understand.
>shitty smut dump gets interrupted by actual discussion
the absolute state of OP
The only shitty thing here is your existence
It's pretty funny to see some people still claim that the 1990's were the period when Marvel was at its most sexualized and pandering out thinly veiled porn. Joe Quesada's early period of editorialship starting in 1999 and running to the mid-2000's had a significantly higher quota of extremely sexualized art, straight-up nudity, rape and limited series aimed only at "mature" readers (which in this case meant "Watch some characters nude!" or "watch them fuck!"). The early-mid 90's were fucking small fry by comparison.
To just take one example, Carol Danvers' Ms Marvel costume was still a full bathing suit as long as she was being drawn by George Perez and later Alan Davis, it didn't become a butt-floss you-can-see-her-nipples piece of gauze until around the Brian Reed series which started after House of M.
The only reason for this is that Quesada took over Marvel when it was all but bankrupt and his strategy for putting it back on track was "try to appeal to every market we can". That meant put out hyper-violent series, thinly veiled porn, weird licensed comics and get tons of indie creators in to have some name appeal. When the Iron Man movie became a hit in 2008 they realized they didn't need to rely on those kinds of tactics anymore and the "adult" material was gradually phased out for a more family-friendly approach.
This is all true, but all the best sexy costumes were created in the 1990s, not the 2000s
I want to fund a company that only publishes comics full of naked and near naked women and caters exclusively to people who like near naked women and have no problem with them, just for pleasure of telling assholes who hate what I love "You're not my audience so FUCK OFF".
I don't care about profits. I want comics with naked and near naked for people who like with naked and near naked women.
That Artemis on the left?
Okay, femcel
No, I just don't require porn to be in everything I consume.
What are you, an unironic cumbrain or something?
>Huuuuuuuur everything sexy is porn! PORN! PORN! IT'S ALL PORN!
No sense of scale and extremes with you assholes. Like talking to the Amish.
I'M COOOOOOMING
I SAW 90% OF A CARTOON BOOB AND IT MADE ME COOOOOM
If you're using cumbrain as an insult, wouldn't that mean the slut costumes would have zero appeal because he's already blown out his neuroreceptors and would need a much greater stimulus than cheesecake and partial nudity would provide?
When spray paint heroine suits were all the rage for female heroines, Large shoulder pads were the trending costume for male heroes. It was fucking annoying.
shoulder pads will always be cool
Is this Conan?
>me me me me me me me me me memememememememememe
Who gives a shit about you? I only care about what I require and I require sexy. I don't care about you.
Especially since she doesn't care about anyone else, she thinks other people shouldn't be provided to, only her
She's a thieving piece of shit
That was not fanservice, it was straight up edge. It's almost the opposite and lacks the coolness factor.
That means the studios are profitable, and the IP owners get money. The comics publishers still gotta earn their own money and try not to fuck up the brands too badly.
Look...it's Thor and Loki's sister they had no idea that they ever had until a few years ago!
I want an industry like Japan's that caters exclusively to ecchi and hentai lovers and tells bigots to go kill themselves those oppressive backwards walking turd people
That's 2000s
90s Gamora still had the fishnet bodysuit
This. I want to read mature dialog not the shit written in user's pic related intended for 5 year olds. In regards to artwork yeah I prefer the 'pandering to the male gaze' because I am male and attracted to women it's that simple.
Boners.
...
I'M COOOOMING
Omg how is that an official cover
Diana no!
90's best comics era
Most Batman characters got reworked during the 90s to align with any power, character, plot, or design elements used in the animated series.
Kekko Kamen is actually a brilliant disguise. Mask, gloves, and long socks cover all the skin exposed in her civilian guise, while only person whove seen her naked would recognize her as Kekko
The brilliant part of Kekko was that in the manga there were like 5 of them.
Your obvious business plan should be to publish books starring obvious 'parodies' of Big 2 heroines. It's surprising nobody already does this.
We can't even pretend this is subtle.
My favorite part of this costume is that they don't even pretend to care how the mask works with the hair
goddamn moonstar looks like THAT?
makes more sense than Wolverine's hair ever did
It only lasted half a dozen appearances before being replaced with a full body blue and gold costume.
>makes more sense than Wolverine's hair ever did
hours spent in front of the mirror every day, with a lot of styling products
At least that you can say is part of his mutation. The process for putting this mask on appears to be
>glue it to your forehead
>pull it down over your chin
>stretch it back over your ears
If you assume it's backless or there's a hole for the hair then it works fine.
Same.
Can't really contribute with much other than that I agree with you OP.
The fit is impossibly perfect but that's part of the joy of 90s designs. They just made what looked cool instead of wondering how it would work in a movie.
>bigot
Not that user, *but* you are an idiot. Not being down with slutwear isn't bigotry, you disingenuous slackjawed monkeyfuck. It may be prudishness, but it ain't being a bigot. Crack a book and get a goddamn education.
That's supposed to be Wanda? I thought it was Elektra!
Really could use some classic shrinkwrapped tits right about now.
Spandex + jackets are a kino look
You could tell them apart because Elektra had longer hair, and weapons
You say that because your ideals are basic and prudish.
wtf is that sonya blade?
>sonya blade?
>printed 1987
...
Based Boris poster plz dont stop!
Fucking men, I swear.
Classic Continuity comic title,Samuree!! It's actually dope! Sexy is good.
Someone's never heard of Vampirella's fanbase.
No, your shit is stupid and this is one of the reasons I got into sewing. Fuck off.
Fucking idiots, I swear.
nice
That is Samuree, from some company Neal Adams started.
Is her leg broken?
I feel like a lot of the criticism with 90s costumes has a lot less to do with the outfit themselves and more to do with the posing
That shit's been done already -- in the 90s, user-ny-Come-Lately. I have a longbox full of it in my closet.
>those sleeves
>that mask
>the high-heel buccaneer boots
Far from her best or sexiest look.
Most definitely. If you look at liefield for example, by far the most famous offender, his actual biggest issue is he keep fucking posing people mid stretch, twist, or other movement that's fine for like 5 seconds but not for standing. That, and perspective glitches. Bad habit of having say, a top and bottom half or a limb and the main body being drawn from sllliiiightly different perspectives.
>Not wanting to swash her buckles
you must live a boring existence.
I like her "Huntress" look.
And in color.
That belt screams wrestlemania
To each their own but classic Mockingbird looks fucking fantastic to me.
Stupid yes, but that doesn't mean we can't still enjoy it.
I'd like Gen13 more if the artist had known how to draw muscular women. As it is they don't quite seem to know how to make people look tall, so they all look as though they've been stretched.
Thighs > breasts
Emma Frost is so sexy.
>I'd like Gen13 more if the artist had known how to draw muscular women. As it is they don't quite seem to know how to make people look tall, so they all look as though they've been stretched.
That things you don't like were the point, it was how Fairchild was intentionally designed. She was unnaturally tall, and strong without being muscular. It made her distinct from other strong heroines like She-Hulk or Barda.
Holy shit, I thought I was the only one
It’s not just her though, it’s like every female. Are they the same artist who worked on the older witchblade issues, because the art has the same exact problems
Gen 13 was J. Scott Campbell, Witchblade was Michael Turner
There aren't any laws against it
>why do humans like to see other humans in pleasing ways?
Unironically based.
Faggot
>Enchantress
What this guy say's. A healthy, sexually developed, aesthetically pleasing woman is literally the ideal. Men find these attractive because they are positives.
the best part of all this necrobumping is seeing how many idiots lose their shit over different opinions.
>Not barefoot
FUCK THAT
Benes is perpetual 90s
I gotta say, I don't miss this pose.
I love the cheesecake, but the goofy anatomy kills me.
This is hardly all that goofy. At worst exaggerated but also fuck you. Don't be boring.
>publishers are no longer pandering to sexually frustated teenagers
Yeah, they're pandering to an audience that...doesn't actually buy their products. And hurting because of it.
Freedom to pander doesn't mean freedom from consequences, babe.
like...Star Wars?
>Implying Marvel is in any danger
where you've been the past 10 years?
exactly what are you implying? the mixed reaction to TLJ and Solo underperforming won't actually harm Star Wars in any meanigful way. it's Star Wars, it's still popular and makes a lot of money.
Why do american artists like fake tits so much? If you cak draw a girl with big boobs, why dont make them look real? They always look better than those round bolt ons.
Thats why japanese artists are usually better. They try to draw something more aesthetically pleasing
Too much trashy porn has melted their brains
Gypsy is so damn cute there.
I want to ride that sable
>post a picture of Disney movies while talking about Marvel comics
>ignores that several Star Wars spinoffs got mothballed because the franchise is making a lot less money
Gimme a list of comics where Amora wore this costume cuz i have literally nebver seen it outside a pinup before
Thank you user.
fcuk off, slut
They look good.
>the mixed reaction to TLJ
>mixed
It was widely hated.
...
>It was widely hated.
It's a divide between fans and critics, and they can keep writing articles belittling everyone that hated it while presenting their opinion as the majority. Have some 1990s Leia.
