Yes. So it's a twofold answer. The simpler part being that Kryptons star was red, which when Kryptonians absorb that sunlight, they gain nothing from it. Well other than All Star Superman implying that they actually turn it into some form of spirit/radio energy and leave their physical bodies behind when they die to explore the universe as energy beings. But that's irrelevant right now.

The bigger and lesser known reason is that they actually did spread out and try to conquer the universe at one point, but the Guardians of the Universe (the reality warping space gods that are in charge of the Green Lanterns) put a stop to it before they got too powerful to be stopped. They instilled something of a xenophobia into the species as a whole and drove them back to Krypton. Over millennia that fear of others was weeded out through evolution, but they still kept to the planet by habit/culture.

..and also, yes there are actually some that ended up off world and getting powers. Zod being the most obvious example. There just aren't many of them at all.

oh and also, Superman is special. Important to the DC metaverse somehow. I guess that's the reason why Supergirl gets BTFO'd by Doctor Manhattan, but Superman makes the Doc unsure.
