>What Happun?
Go back to stalking Hitomi Tanaka on Twitter, Matt.
Lost Pokemon, spent years bleeding money, almost lost YuGiOh, bled more money fighting for it in court, kept YuGiOh but had no money left to use it, scumbag president took his money and ran right before bankruptcy.
It's simple, Leo Burnett and 4kids were the devil.
Idiots without any grasp of Japanese localization culture gradually butchered anime and spend egregious amounts of money editing their cartoons and upholding rigid censorship and creative standards on their home creations like TMNT.
Also this.
>upholding rigid censorship and creative standards on their home creations like TMNT.
Go watch 'Insane in the Membrane' and say that. TMNT got more adult the longer it went, at least until Fast Forward.
They were just a poor-man's Saban.
And Saban was already mediocre.
>Go watch 'Insane in the Membrane' and say that. TMNT got more adult the longer it went, at least until Fast Forward.
Wasn't that banned
These clowns were responsible for creating dub plotholes in anime
4kids
>Skips entire episodes, that may or may not lead into important facts later.
Also 4kids
>Keeps actual filler episodes but cuts them down to half episodes
I mean none of Saban's anime were as big as Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh!
oh dude it's on your local mexican restaurant's menu too?
4kids Pokémon was and always will be better than the boring, shitty Japanese scripts.
Everything else is deserving of being called trash though. They managed to make Sonic X even worse.
I'll defend the Fighting Foodon's dub.
4Kids was the only dubbing company that was capable of handling that show and pumping out a minimum of 1 food pun every 3 minuets.
>4kids Pokémon was and always will be better than the boring, shitty Japanese scripts.
You only say that because the anime is always garbage. Even the 4kids dub. But the dubs of the movies were garbage.
Saban are still the chads here. Power Rangers was a billion-dollar franchise and Digmon was still big enough to get a theatrical release and had a superior dub to anything 4kids ever produced.
Dude, Pokemon eclipses everything else and also had theatrical movies
So did Yu-Gi-Oh
Saban made a better product, What part of that don't you understand?
Alright, here's some trivia about 4kids
>They had the license to make a new Thundercats but never used it
>Same goes for Cabbage Patch Kids
>They also had the license to make a Perfect Dark show but also never used it
>Cubix was commissioned by them as a back up plan in case Pokemon failed and for them to localize TO Japan to "play them at their own game"
>Speaking of Cubix, here's what the original show was gonna look like

What? I looked it up just now and couldn't find anything. Anyway to add on more points
>Edits out the ass which were pointless and only existed so that the painters could get more money
>This is on Toei: They got One Piece and made it into a joke, later revealed that Toei gave them a package deal with Ojamajo Doremi, the show they wanted and One Piece, the show they didn't really want but felt obligated to dub and it shows, public TV in the morning has way too many Don'ts and No-no's
>Dubs around that time were showing some polish, Viz doing great work with Inuyasha and even Ranma way back, Funimation did a great job with FMA in contrast to their still-shitty work with Dragon Ball, Naruto is proof that a violent show can still be reworked for TV and not lose too much from the editing
>Got into some bullshit with Konami and royalties, gradual downward spiral from there
They got lucky with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, that's really it. They fucked up with F-Zero, Doremi and especially One Piece and losing Pokemon was so immense KidsWB! refused to give TPC the rights back to the older episodes if I remember correctly, that was their golden goose, Yu-Gi-Oh! staring with GX was on cable television, no one was watching Coconut Fred or Spider Riders, both got aborted and that was that, KidsWB became CW4kids and that died in four short years.
4kids dying was foretold but the domino effect was bigger than expected.
One Saturday Morning and Nickelodeon were better
I like all four but the Pokemon dub is easily the one that has aged the best in terms of quality if we ignore In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, and Lightspeed Rescue but even still, the Pokemon dub had more consistent quality and the Digimon dub has aged like milk

That's probably a local place, it happens all the time. I thought it was something like the Atari Jaguar shells being reused for soap dispensers.
4Kids' musical director also played bass with Hall & Oates. He's on "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go For That", and "You Make My Dreams Come True".
That episode was banned in America.
Wasn't One Piece the only show they skipped episodes for? Aside from the banned episodes of Pokemon. And that weird thing where they edited some early two-part episodes of Yu-gi-oh together into one so the story would move a bit quicker (and un-spliced versions of it did air in other country and on the US DVDs).
How the fuck did a guy like that put out so much garbage?
Honestly, most of their stuff before Sonic X wasn't that bad.
Remember when 4Kids was the most progressive media studio?
Meanwhile, Saban's musical director created some of the most iconic music of all time.
youtube.com
This is just a rumor that I don't think is true, but they skipped episodes to get to Chopper faster in an attempt to push his mascot status in the west. Another fact from Tsukento in an old video; the 4kids One Piece DVD's sold worse than Hikaru No Go.
Saban is now a poor man's Saban
>Literally cuts nearly half the episodes of Precure.
Is that fair? I mean they were literally a music company.
>Digmon was still big enough to get a theatrical release and had a superior dub to anything 4kids ever produced.
Have... have you actually watched Digimon: The Movie? It's a bigger trainwreck than anything 4kids ever produced. Including One Piece.
We do NOT speak ill of Angelamon in this house.
I never said it was good. I just said that overall, the Digimon English adaptation was a superior product. At least they didn't pretend that this was a donut.
Source?
Meowth that's right
For what, the sign?
Jaguar
>ou only say that because the anime is always garbage. Even the 4kids dub. But the dubs of the movies were garbage.
american kids dont care, pokemon company USA doesnt care, as long as the american series sell shit, they keep the 2 versions separate.
The only thing 4kids skipped that wasn't a filler arc or side story was Little Garden (and Laboon, but that was only one episode). It's more likely Little Garden got skipped because they just decided it wasn't very good. Back then, fans of the show generally considered it one of the weakest canon arcs, too.
That happened once. Even 4kids called them riceballs every other time they appeared. Except during Hoenn where they started doing silly things like painting them over with sandwiches and calling them absurd things like "onions". I'm convinced it was just 4kids having a giggle about the "donut" thing at that point.

Sorry for the wait, it was actually for a dental camera.
>Viz doing great work with Inuyasha and even Ranma way back
But Viz completely raped Rockman EXE and Rave Master, seriously how do people even excuse and give those butchjobs a pass?
Thanks
Rave Master wasn't terrible, speaking as a fan of the original manga. Megaman Battle Network was a legitimate hackjob, though.
>It's more likely Little Garden got skipped because they just decided it wasn't very good.
That is a very stupid reason as Little Garden would tie into a major plot point later on in the series, as was the episode with Laboon. If they got that far, they'd have a mess on their hands along with the increasingly violent scenes and whatnot. They briefly got into Skypiea via one of the games, same game had CP9 in the Japanese version. Part of me wants to see how they'd try to edit the anime after Rainbow Mist.
>Beep boop megaman tom sound effects or flat rockatars
>this is how shows like VRtroopers in japan sounded
youtube.com
The only good music that saban got was from Udi Harpaz/Harpez, i mean he was like America's Akira Ifukube to me.
EXE was the result of KidsWB!'s standards and practices, Fire Man got his name changed, swords had to have a blur on them and a few other faggy mandates that even 4kids had to follow with Pokemon. Ironic considering that Batman went to KidsWB! and had actual blood but that was before 9/11 so they probably doubled down.
What about Wasserman?
>the scene at the end with Wendigomon dancing to all star wasn't like that in Japan
>originally this swaying took place in the middle of the story and signified his mental breakdown into complete insanity and was in extreme pain
IMAGINE some guy splicing this shit together.
>That is a very stupid reason as Little Garden would tie into a major plot point later on in the series
It wasn't major enough that they couldn't just rewrite two lines of dialog and fix the inconsistency.
>people overblowjob Viz just cause the SailorMoon redub (which is now the 3rd one) and the current Jojo dub
>Still did hackjobs of dubs for Doraemon 2005 and Yokai Watch
>No proper redubs of Ranma, Inuyasha , Rave Master cause MUH LOCALIZATION/MUH NOSTALGIA
>Their fucking mangas STILL, STILL censored and or half censored plus rewritten specially if it's classic series cause '' THE ORIGINAL WAS FOR KIDS TOO, WE DONT NEED THAT SLEAZY SHIT''
>if it's a kids anime with toy potential (even if it wasnt intended to be), LOCALIZATION
>not even finished Hamtaro or Rockman EXE.
>detective conan never finished or with the proper names.
Viz was just as fucking bad as 4kids but people turned a blind eye to them for some fucking reason, at best they just doing better job with Naruto, Jojo and the new Sailormoon dub, but they, at the moment are, the lesser evil now.
If Funi loses the dragonball franchise, (which will never happen because nepotism and the Vic judge turning out to be WORDFILTERboy WORDFILTER pooper who dismissed that one attorney just cause he posts on Youtube, yet Diana Davison is allowed on court documentation.............), will Viz risk it to re-introduce the franchise? will it work with the fans
wrong thread
>detective conan never finished or with the proper names.
For the last time, that was imposed by the Japanese studio, so we'd have never gotten a dub with the proper names either way. And it had nothing to do with Viz.
did the same bullshit happen with doraemon and yokai watch?, i assume that was the case with rockman exe then because capcom localization team right?
Who really gave a fuck about Yokai Watch though, it was a shitty Pokemon knockoff.
I'm sure there are certain things some companies probably does when it comes to dub changes.
Like I feel like when it came to the first Garo anime the term Makai Witch felt like such a case because of the european setting of the anime, and it works.
It just didn't work for the ancient japan setting or the modern cyberpunk amerian setting.
Again, there was no need to skip episodes period. It'll only make them look more inconsistent and sloppy and 4kids' One Piece is fucking SLOPPY, the edits are too obvious and bounce all over the place.
opening was a banger
I've heard skipping episodes when you license anime is pretty much burning cash since you basically ordered the whole package of its collective season.
Their Funky Cops dub was godawful.
youtube.com
in comparison with the original based dub
They changed the scene in the first movie where everyone was basically saying, "Even if they're clones, they're just as equal as anyone else," to, "Fighting is wrong, even though we're Pokemon."
Also, they changed, "there's no way anyone can get through this storm," to some bullshit legend.
>Also, they changed, "there's no way anyone can get through this storm," to some bullshit legend.
A bullshit legend that made the ending of the movie less random.
EVERYBODY WAS KUNG-FU FIGHTING WHEN I WAS YOUNG.
MY STYLE OF FIGHTING I DON'T NEED A GUN.
>i assume that was the case with rockman exe then because capcom localization team right?
If Capcom's localization team had anything to do with the anime dub, there wouldn't be so many weird naming inconsistencies with the games.

You think those are bad? Go to the eurothreads on /wsgif/ and ask about TP's Initial D dub.
>redubs of Ranma, Inuyasha
Let sleeping dogs lie. Ranma stands as a product of its time when anime dubs were extremely niche, and Inuyasha is in need more of a remake without Rumiko trying to make it into Ranma 1/2 with medieval demonry.
They made some kick-ass intros.
That was an anime? I thought it was their attempt to try to be anime like with Chaotic, what a shitshow.
Vic lost because he had a terrible case and a bumbling lawyer, let it go user. The Judge did the right thing
There was a short-lived LA Dragon Ball dub IIRC
They didn't spend money making edits, they got paid on how much editing they did
Tokyopop did Rave Master, actually. They also did the first Initial D dub as mentioned by
You forgot to mention that the reason they almost lost Yu-Gi-Oh and got into a court battle over it was because it came out that they weren't actually sending the Japanese studios their contractual cut of the profits. They had millions of dollars in back payments owed to TV Tokyo, among other production committee members. It got so bad that an alternate west coast dub for Zexal was actually commissioned by Konami in the event that 4Kids lost.
Also they invested a lot of money into Chaotic, which flopped hard when no one bought the card game.
Yes.
Another fun fact: they never wanted One Piece. They wanted Magical DoReMi and more Ultimate Muscle. But Toei, desperate to get OP on American airwaves NOW, forced it on 4kids as part of a package deal. Realizing they could never make it work, 4kids did a hack dun just to get it over with until the rights expired.
Toei are kind of dicks.
AY! Don't you go talkin' smack now about the thing that gave me mah voice!
>That was an anime?
Nope, it was French.
>Ultimate Muscle
I heard there were three series in that deal, was it Ultimate Muscle? I thought it was a series they never really touched period.
Okay, that makes sense given that Winx was Italian. Is it any good?
Glad to see your sharing words with him again Pat
That's another one: after Pokemon hit it big, 4kids got exclusive rights to all future Nintendo shows. Nintendo ended the deal after Kirby only did so-so and F-Zero bombed horribly. Makes you wonder if ut lead to them losing Pokemon, too.
>EXE was the result of KidsWB!'s standards and practices
Okay, but that doesn't explain Star Force!
Maybe you thought of the older Kinnikuman show. 4kids actually did get that, but considered it too old to do anything with.
>Is it any good?
It's... something. the soundtrack's good, at least
Well shit, you got me on that one.
Chaotic tcg sold well it flopped when they fucked over the creator.
What did they do?
I had forgotten how much I liked the shitty dub voices for Sanji and Robin, southern Belle Robin is pretty top tier.
WOW that is a fucking giant step down.
Did you know funimation's version of the Fake Straw Hats from before Fishman Island imitate the 4Kids voices? Pretty clever
Viz cared so little about the dub that they recasted everyone for s3 and onward due to voice actor costs.
>F-Zero
Shit dude, I would’ve loved to see a 4kids dub of the F-Zero anime. I wonder what kind of voice they’d give Captain Falcon.
They made one. Only lasted, like, nine episodes.
>Hitomi retired
At least she gave us 100s if videos to work with, with those uneven tits of hers
Tried to steal the IP that's why the show and tcg product stopped production out of nowhere.
The Pirate Rap is crap.
Who dubbed Zexal? It was the worst Yugioh dub. No wonder why so many people hated it
HE'S MADE OF RUBBER
The Yu-Gi-Oh dubs have been produced by the exact same organization from 2001 all the way to 2019. Originally it was named 4K Productions, a subsidiary of 4Kids; 4K Productions was later sold to Konami in 2012 and renamed 4K Media. Earlier this year Konami renamed 4K Media to Konami Cross Licensing NY, but it's important to stress that the exact same group has been working on the dub of all 6 Yu-Gi-Oh series; only the name and ownership has changed.

>Maybe you thought of the older Kinnikuman show. 4kids actually did get that, but considered it too old to do anything with.
Wait, 4kids actually got the rights to the original Kinnikuman as well? are you sure? what could possibly be done to an anime that old and considering it's content?
>Fake Straw Hats
youtube.com
Didn't they also have the lisnece to naruto at one point?
Toonami aired the original Gundam from the 70s, but they had to stop because of 9/11
don't tell me.
They made an English dub out of the music and effects version of the show? (it was made with an English version and international export in mind)
So, same fucking assholes..........thanks to Konami USA
we are NEVER getting good english dubs of any of the series, let alone an uncut redub of Duel Monsters.
Dont you just fucking love Monopolies?
it's distribution company survived as late as 2018 on the web with Chaotic, Viva Pinata, and Tai Chi Chasers before the site became "pageok" and now the distribution rights for those 3 shows became uncertain possibly forever
it was until Nicktoons aired it in 2015
was aired outside of the USA and released on 4Kids' website perfectly fine
>They made an English dub out of the music and effects version of the show?
Yes, only they completely replaced the original soundtrack with new music (to avoid paying royalties, I assume) and made a handful of edits here and there.
I remember that rumor, Ninja Boy Nathan.
ultimate muscle was great, more popular in the us then in japan. TMNT was good, but thats only because mirage had 50 % control of the series, with one of the co creators working heavily on it.
Not sure, but they obtained the rights to the first Pretty Cure show right before they ceased dubbing operations.
>we are NEVER getting good english dubs of any of the series
the Vrains dub sounded alright from the few clips I've heard
the easiest way around paying royalties is asking permission from the labels involved
The third Toei show in the deal was Pretty Cure. 4Kids announced that they had licensed the original PreCure anime around the same time as Magical DoReMi, but sat on the license for a few years with no dub produced. It eventually did get dubbed by another studio (Ocean?), but that dub never made it outside Canada (and then Saban did their own dub of some of the later series a few years ago).
does that work?
I know it works with shows that have character rights in the hands of another company
I would love to see the rest of Hamtaro and Rave Master get dubbed.
such a shame they left Mew Mew Power on a cliffhanger
children and normies dont give two fucks, that's the problem, only pokemon remained thanks to the games and Yugioh thanks to Konami USA getting the license to the card game, the thing is, Viz only dubbed their shows just for merch, and it didnt worked out.
The rest of Rave Master was dub, but the second half of the anime was aired on Sci-fi Channel for some reason.
>more Ultimate Muscle
?
There were more Ultimate Muscle seasons in Japan?
Kinnikuman Nisei flopped in japan because Toei tried to adapt it as a kid friendly show while the manga was in fact a seinen because of its raunchy humour and graphic violence, that and the piss poor Toei digital animation, and the fact that outside of manga, nobody really cared for Kinnikuman all that much at the time, it was the poorest of timings.
The anime was turned into almost a Kodomo Anime, even to the point of blood being non-existent on Toei adaptations, and i am talking about the japanese versions, not the localized dubs, if you dont believe me, look at what they did to toriko, or the bits of violence soften up on DragonBall Kai, it wasnt because of more strict tv regulations, it was because Toei are a bunch of fucking pussies now!
As for Ultimate muscle, it was a gag dub that despite being by all means terrible, since nothing but jokes and piss over the original script, and with even more edits over an already overly sanitized adaptation, but american kids didnt care, they just enjoyed wrestling because the 2000s, and that is why Ultimate Muscle was kinda of a hit, to the point that 4kids commissioned toei to continue the show for a bit longer, since they knew Toei fucked up Kinnikuman Nisei big time.
If the rumors are true that 4kids got OG Kinnikuman as well but sit on the rights until they died, that would make sense, since the old show was a product of its time with more relaxed tv standards for kids shows in japan, by which i mean that they didn't give too much of a shit, for crying out loud, Miss Machiko was a kids anime in sprite of all the pervy stuff it had, and the 80s was the era of lolicon in japan when even magical girls shows for kids had loli fanservice inserted on it, Esper Mami was a slice of life magical girl series and had Mami naked to pose for his father for paintings and even at one point dressed like a jessica rabbit type of poker girl to stop some thieves.
>FINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOMFINDTHECOMPUTERROOM
That's alot of bad news for Ultimate Muscle that I wish it didnt have
what the fuck is that from?
I thought it was the Conan the Barbarian rights holders who forced the name change. They've had a reputation for being really anal about works with characters named Conan ever since that time they tried to go after Conan O'Brien.
Good ol Jimmy Zoppi, now blacklisted from coming back to YGO
oh now I know
why their anime's official English dubs weren't done by dubbing studios that were just like those foreign dubbing studios out there, independent, is beyond me
ah the doofiest silliest 4kids voices.....................
Is there any way 4kids can truly die with no more shadow companies being made so they lost YugiOh and we could finally get a good dub of the series?
Please speak English.
>filed for bankruptcy twice
I remember reading about how they died, it was honestly surprising at first. I also remember when I was younger seeing the CW/Vortex phase but thinking nothing of it at the time. For the company that had a huge hand in bringing the Pokemon anime over, its fall was pretty hard. I wonder if anyone misses them? They had the well known practice of Americanization (possibly the most iconic examples) and unless you're heavy into nostalgia, they didn't really have that good of an output dub wise. I assume anyone missing them remembers the early Pokemon voices fondly, I hear jack shit about 4kids otherwise.
It's loosely related at best but I always wondered if 4kids ever considered Detective Conan since apparently Fox Kids also wanted it and it went far enough down the pipeline that they had press releases stating it was coming before they bailed. I imagine the rumored edits for Fox would have been similar for 4kids if anything ever materialized.
>

Don't forget they greenlit Saint Seiya: zoomer edition
pls don't remind me of Toriko
>mfw the series could had been adapted by Ufotable but sheisha gave it to Toei instead
the 4Kids dubs could've been done by independent dubbing studios
eventually Funimation had it's own problems like the horrific Dragon Ball remasters
Most Shueshia IPs are tied to Toei because of the Shonnen Jump tie in, the only exceptions were One Punch Man and Shaman King because of them being not that popular in their times in comparison to the biggest cash cows that were dragonball and One Piece, and Jojo because nobody adapted it as a tv series during the late 80s, the 90s or even the 2000s
>No anime arc for Starforce 3
I wonder why they never made it?
and yet Toriko was suppose to be next big thing but it will be forever remembered as that one series that flopped even though it hands tons of shilling including a crossover special with both DB and OP. Unless there's some Yakuza shit happening between Toei and Shueisha it makes no sense they share the same bed so often.
Because the anime for 2 bombed so hard they didn't even reach a number of the new forms
hope you like the shadow realm
at least before Nicktoons aired it in 2015
Oi, some of the dub voice for the Arc V characters were nice in my opinion; youtube.com
Because Star Force was and is the worst Mega Man series and not making the ZX anime instead was a huge blunder.
I believe that creating and using their own soundtrack also allows English dubbing teams to charge other countries that base their dubs off the English version to use their replacement soundtrack - so there's an element of greed involved as well
Sonia Strumm's best girl
I guess NT Warrior and Starforce were the most obvious choices since japanese kids love monster pet and card games
Me Gusta Que Te Guste uses the logo too
thank god the Latin American Spanish dub wasn't off 4Kids' version
True, but I'm not gonna lie and say I wouldn't want an anime of the ZX story.
Didn't One Piece get forced onto 4kids when they were trying to get the rights for Shaman King?
>Rockman EXE anime in japan was left inconclusive because of Capcom's bullshit in spite of many loose ends and plot ideas for one more arc or even two
>mayl's personality was flip floppin betwenn being a shit bully girl who picks on Lan to nice girlfriend with no explanation and the anime in japan ended with some pathos of them splitting up.
>ViZ didnt even dubbed half the series
Dont remind me.
There are MUCH MORE chances of either Funi losing dragonball becuase their sjw stupidity or Saban allowing Viz to make an uncut dub of Digimon 01 then we EVER, EVER getting a good re-introduction of Yu-gi-oh Duel Masters properly redubbed, with japanese soundtrack, no edits, no shitty parody dialogue.
All because Konami USA whored the fuck out of the 4kids version so damn much.
What I don't get is why it became a Power Rangers like show for a while, mind you, I think the idea is cool; youtube.com
is this a fucking joke.
>stupid doofy self aware ''this whole thing is a fucking joke'' dialogue
>goofy voices
>dumbass replacement soundtrack
>mostly americanized names
Yeah, NOTHING HAS CHANGED, NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE, until we killed it.
I said some, and by some I mostly mean Yuri.
Based anime historian user
Hell yes. Luna a shit.
No. Cartoon Network aired every episode of it during its original run. The anime itself just ended on a cliffhanger.
Funny thing about Pretty Cure: Toei forced that on Saban, just like they forced OP on 4kids. Saban just wanted Digimon.
You got to remember that, given the timing, Kinnikuman Nisei was almost certainly made in the first place because they knew 4kids was interested in reviving the toyline overseas, so it would be a guaranteed sell to the overseas market. The biggest piece of evidence is that the show had exactly 52 episodes and ended very suddenly in the middle of a filler arc, suggesting they were packaging it in the format of American seasons (anime almost never suddenly ends in the middle of an arc, especially an anime-original one, unless they're intentionally plugging the source material).
Remember when they forced Japan to make more Sonic X?
That season has still yet to air in Japan except on some expensive satellite channel.
surprisingly japan has no fanatical obsession over Sanic like the west has, I bet that's the reason why Yuji Naka left the series behind on his career
>Kinnikuman Nisei was almost certainly made in the first place because they knew 4kids was interested in reviving the toyline overseas, so it would be a guaranteed sell to the overseas market.
You're talking about the anime right? Nisei started as a manga just like the original.
By the way, Yu-gi-oh also started as a manga and wasn't intended to be just another Toyemon anime to be stripped of it's japanese identity and its vision turned into a joke just to sell merch.
Why anyway? Did it bomb that bad in nipland?
(continuing) hell, i bet you that if 4kids and Konami USA never had its quasi incestual relationship, the show at the very least would have been allowed to be dubbed overseas unfiltered like how it happen to the 4 original digimon series.
all because they needed to compete with pokemon, even tough they still owned it at the time.
>and its vision turned into a joke just to sell merch.
Are you implying the last half of the manga wasn't still awesome?
>That chapter that had Joey captured and tortured with a taser.
>That same chapter where Yugi killed the dudes who did it with their taser in the puddles they were standing in because it was raining.
Brutal was fuck. And I've heard there was more where that came from.
nigger he is talking about how the anime got turned into a shitshow joke by 4kids ''but kids eated that shit up so who cares LOL''
i wonder if 4kids put a filter ban to dubbing companies if they ever wanted to get the japanese licenses for these shows and dub them uncut versions
4kids didn't make the show focus on Duel Monsters, that was all Japan. 4kids just removed traces of death, which were still pretty obvious to anyone with a brain.
yes because its 4kids fault that the anime made to sell cards strip the franchise of its identity
>what is yu-gi-oh zero dad?
a different anime made by a different animation company
Made before Konami made the real game.
You know I found this logo for a dub for the original Kinnikuman anime, the prequel to Ultimate Muscle, I'm not sure if it was made by 4kids or Funimation, but if that happened they should made Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson) the voice of Kinnikuman and started with the beginning of the 20th Choujin Olympics Arc (since that's where the Wrestling Element of the series started)
also, I had this idea for an real-life pro wrestling association based off this series, which is from a live wrestling show in 2009 called Kinnikumania
That show's biggest mistake was making Kirby a minor character.
>Let's finally make a tribute to the TMNT multiverse

i doubt that actually got out of the ground, but where did you found this?
but he speaks in Kirby's Avalanche
user, they didn't have a choice with the voices. Union and Non-Union can't work together and they already used their "Free trial" with the union for something else.
Also have you rewatched the original cartoon recently? They were that bad. The old 80's cartoon was fine for what it was but it wasn't even a competitor with He-Man in terms of writing serious characters.
stop having a victim complex because your turtles were used as a ratings gimmick for the finale of the then modern cartoon

80s TMNT was never meant to be serious. Until the Red Sky era, but...yeah.
I'd say it'd be ok before I remembered that they definitely woudn't do shit like "get these japanese letters off of me" so yeah it'd be shit
>get these japanese letters off of me
those jokes were the best
>i cant read all these darn scribbles!
I know, which is why it was always fucking retarded you had a bunch of people bitching about it "making them total jokes" when they were jokes day one and that was the point.
ever heard of ''nuance''?
whatever happened to those 100% uncut yu-gi-oh boxsets they were planning on releasing? did they just say fuck it because they figured parents would be too retarded to read and accidentally pick it up for little timmy?
>Union and Non-Union can't work together
funimation got richard horvitz into the Tournament of Power
That thing the original TMNT cartoon didn't have until it decided it wanted to be darker until the Red Sky seasons?
Remember the episode where Shredder thought he was Mikey?
Allegedly they actually released one or two, then cancelled them due to "low sales". Yeah, and I'm God's gift to women.
I found on Google search, it was part of logo brand website
Here's the site

you mean that faux attempt at uncut dub they did bad on porpusse so that kids and normies would go and say, ''this is the so called superior wapanese version they wanted! this susck, ill stay with my tv version with jokes and puns thank you''
for real, 4kids attempted to produce an uncut dub of yu-gi-oh but sabotaged in some ways.
>not proper recasting the characters
>still using the same voice direction for all the characters, aka, the doofy voices, (Bullwinkle Tristan, Brooklyn Joey, manchild yugi dan green and gargoyle ogre atem voice, imp villain wheevil)
>awkward delivery in lines, making it seem at times like crabsticks tier dialogue
>still using the US names
>only 3 episodes per disc
>only 9 episodes dubbed
>last 3 only ''leaked'' online for years until YuGiOh US youtube channel put them in their channel.
It was a disaster, and all likely done on purpose, and the reasons arent that hard to guess, they knew what they did to the series with their localization job and konami only cared about the stupid cards sales so they didnt wanted the uncut dub to get more attention and outsold the regular tv version.
did you know Media Blasters was very close to manage to produce uncut dubs of the first pokemon movies?, take a wild guess who shoot that idea down.
Don't you got some red panda diapers to fluff
good find, but i dont think this is official, and if it could it be, most likely it was a proto logo for the Kinnikuman Nisei dub, not the original.
>Viz was just as fucking bad as 4kids but people turned a blind eye to them for some fucking reason
I'm so glad someone else besides is bringing this up
>Dragon Ball manga is still fucking censored in 2019 despite falsely advertising it isn't on the back of the books
>They've had a long history of censoring manga and almost no one talks about it
do the people who care about the censorship actually buy the manga though?
I know I'm talking out my ass, but I think YGO Abridged did a lot of damage and 4kids took note of that with GX and the faggots who spew quotes from that fandub in every fucking video relating to YGO justifying it as being so absurd it's good. The original sub has so much character development and subtext, it's an entirely different show. Pegasus J. Crawford is a smarmy millionaire that'll kill you while Maximilian Pegasus is a smarmy wisecracker that's unpredictable in what he'll try. An example of how you can localize an anime and still keep the original character intact, even down to the voice. If 4kids didn't bail on the uncut YGO dub, you could have had an entirely different show altogether.
>You're talking about the anime right? Nisei started as a manga just like the original.
Bitch you're talking to the guy who scanlated the original Kinnikuman manga back when nobody else gave a shit. I was around back when the show was airing and Mike Pollock would come to the only English Kinnikuman board to talk about the series. I know damn well what Kinnikuman Nisei started as.
They are now Konami's bitch.
>who scanlated the original Kinnikuman manga
whoa welcome dude
is there an archive with a kinnikuman manga link?
dude, after all those fucking fearmonger stories of, ''OOOH read at mangafox and you get arrested! BUT BUY OUR OFFICIAL RELEASES''!! by the way, they are censored and adultered up the ass!
the original kinnikuman manga has been completely translated already, only nisei is unavailable since VIZ owns the rights of it
Speaking of Pegasus.... where are my Ritual/Extra Deck Toon Monsters Konami? Turn Hungry Burger into a threat already.
It was a decade ago. The little site we used to host it on is still around, through some miracle. None of us knew what we were doing. Our translator was shaky at best. I had to do literally everything else myself (including re-translate his stuff when it was obviously wrong) and had to rush through over 20 volumes so fast there was no time for quality control. But we were the only ones who wanted to do it.

Bro, you knew who was shitting on those 80's Turtles right?
Peter Laird, co-creator of the TMNT, was head producer on 2003 and really hated how Fred Wolf and co flanderized his creation. Turtles Forever was basically his long awaited revenge...which totally blew up in his face.
I was around when the cartoon was at its peak and I prefer the other renditions to it only because of the fact that they softened up the Turtles. The toys resembled the comic designs more than the cartoon designs, at least the ones my brother had.
Horvitz had to use an alias and do it under a freelance contract, which means a lot of messy paperwork when it comes to totaling his earnings for the year. That's why most voice actors don't do it.
I thought the package deal was One Piece/Shaman King
I sometimes Imagine how One Piece would be if 4Kids dubbed all the way up to where we are now
I actually liked sanji's dub voice
God, they ruined Yuri.
Yuri in the manga is best brother though.
It was tough for the VA, though. According to him, doing Sanji's voice always made his throat dry and he constantly had to use the restroom, but the studio didn't have one (for some bizarre reason), so he had to go across the street to the next building over.
You mean they pushed it to the Midnight block to finish it's run, same thing happened to Seed where they started showing the series with less edits.DISCO GUNS.
>and non-violent REMEMBER??!!!
I mean Nick did the same thing.
The 4kids employee who mentioned that tidbit did say it was Shaman King, but he also made it clear that he wasn't certain which show it was. Since Shaman King isn't Toei, it was either DoReMi or Ultimate Muscle season 2. Nobody's really sure which.
>They edit Brook with skin.
Would Frankie be given shorts instead of a speedo? They might drop the cyborg part and just straight up call him a robot to skirt around the whole horrible injury and body modification thing
What would Brook say instead of "May I see your... Panties?", he'd definitely sound like Rattle Me Bones though.
Katakur would be dough or some sort of Batter instead of Mochi
No, they just make him an invisible "ghost" with clothes.
How would 4kids have explained Laboon when Brooke appeared? Have him say his best pal was a rock?
Act like Luffy met Laboon off-screen. I've never seen the anime version of the that arc, but given how padded the anime is, I assume there were more than enough flashbacks that they could get away with it.
