Don’t they die a lot for immortals?
OP here.
they do die. they are reborn
Give us more spoilers OP. How does the immortality work?
So, immortal in the sense the Marauders are immortal? I.e, they're cloned when they die and mind states are uploaded to the fresh clones
OP has nothing pics or gtfo
OP
yes
long story short: either it doesn't or just average joes possess it since there is still a regular human population after all the xk-end of the world scenarios
What does Apocalypse do in this issue?
Fucking called it from the first issue.
Thanks op, you've won a bet for me a day early.
Figured as much.
I assume Xavier uses Cerebro to retrieve their minds somehow.
So is every hero going to be immortal now?
OP here
glad to help
here ya go asshole, thats all im showing cause I want you guys to buy this book, its awesome!
he joins the x-men
>So is every hero going to be immortal now?
Only the A-Lister like Hulk and now X-Men. Still need to kill off those lower list heroes for shock value in those Big Events ya know.
I'm more shocked that Elixir, Tempus and Hope Summers are getting a shout out. Not so much Goldballs.
Holy shit Hickman put a lot of thought into this.
Friendly reminder that:
1. Absolutely NOBODY gives a fuck about the X-Men anymore.
2. Yea Forums actively wants ALL mutants characters murdered as brutally as possible and their corpses raped.
3. Hackman's saga is gonna flop hard and should convince MarLEL to never publish a mutant character ever again.
Do they say how long Xavier's been making these backups for?
If X-Men are so immortal, why is Wallflower still dead?
OP here
to be honest, i dont remmber sorry
Do Cyclops or Jean Grey do something?
If goddamn Synch is back, she probably is too.
You know, I kind of actually want to see this stuff more than the shit we've been seeing...
Wow, that is crazy.
OP here
based on this issue, she is coming back
if youre a mutant and you died, youre coming back
OP here
[/spoiler]ya, its cool
Til I see her, she still dead.
>words words words words
>just to explain a shittier version of jackals cloning
Soooo...
Mister Immortal?
Nothing, just means they are like every other cape character.
How embarassing.
OP here
Oh they show the process, i just want ya'll to buy the book to see it.
Hickman's done amazing working here, you guys need to get out to your LCS and support this book. it's great!
NOTE: There has been no experimentation regarding what happens when you combine a mutant MIND with a HUSK that is not their own.
Oh boy, who's getting body swapped?
>now
if they show it then why waste pages explaining it when it can come out in conversation from a new mutant
Psylocke.
Wow they actually mention Synch......I'm shocked!
No, he's actually fun.
Nobody is buying the book you shill. Someone will storytime it and LCSs will continue to die as they should.
OP here
to better explain the process for overly excessive mutant fags that have nothing better to do than complain about not knowing every rando detail about the xmen i.e. /co
I'm pretty sure these pages don't count toward the page count, and they give a lot more detail and lay everything out a lot simpler than a conversation would.
They call him Hackman for a reason.
why do they say Husk so much
is Husk back
OP here
guess I'm a shill trying to get you guys to support good comics.
All i hear /co say is how bad comics are now, yet you wont go out and support them. LCS are the lifeline of the industry man. Its sells to them that get these guys bonuses that help motivate them to make more good work like this.
no sells to LCS = a marvel editor saying "guess no one likes this, back to more garbage books"
enjoy your crowdfunded slop I guess.
POST YOUR FAVOURITE OBSCURE DEAD MUTANT THAT'S COMING BACK THANKS TO BASED HICKMAN BABY
What did they do?
Xavier just taking all those Inhuman ideas. If he starts activating the X-gene with mist I'm leaving.
Well shit this explains why all of a sudden the mutants are gonna outnumber the humans
op here
buy the book
Fuck this, I want LCSes to die so digital can finally take the forefront. Diamond is trash
>tfw realized they hired Hickman to write the Inhumans but push failed and he just wrote the X-men's name on on the old script
Yes you are. LCSs keep the industry from growing and you would know this if you weren't shilling for Hickman. Go collect you $0.25 and fuck off.
OP here
digital will never take the forefront, sorry to tell you.
12 years and digital sales have not seen an increase. People have proven time and again they want a psyical copy over a digital each time, when given the option
but enjoy getting more America and Iceman my dude.
not OP
but, I work for a LCS, how are we keeping the industry from growing. like legit curious at your evidence.
Diamond and limiting the market to specialized shops not everyone has access to.
>he thinks the Inhumans were the first to do this concept
OH GOD
I’M CUMMING
LCS guy again
Ill give you diamond, but ANY dealer can set up an account and order from them not just LCS. Limiting the market is not on diamond. Anyone can order from them
>Five mutants work together to grow a single body
>It is just clone with more words
>Literally a reheat of Ironman's recent arc
What is the chance that everyone turned gay after being resurrected?
I doubt they'll bring him back, but fingers crossed. Back before Doom was revealed to be the Rabum Alal, there was a lot of speculation that it was Jaspers
>A mutant capable of warping reality
Then why the fuck do you need the other four mutants? Why have a mutant create unviable eggs if Proteus can just warp reality to begin with? I know I've seen Proteus warp reality way harder than just making some eggs, I don't get it.
>Gold ball make biological eggs
???????? Doesnt that nigga only make balls, which are made of gold? You know, gold ball?
As long as they keep Jean away from the process it should stay straight.
I'm pretty sure Proteus' reality warping has always been a lot more limited than other reality warpers. If he could just make new bodies, his main problem wouldn't exactly have ever been a problem.
Obviously they were eggs all along.
Hickman needs to connect all the puzzle pieces for the autists of Yea Forums. Seriously, you can’t rely on hacks like reality warping for everything, or people will quickly lose interest.
But his "eggs" disappear after a short amount of time
It's not Diamond's fault that the market is limited to LCSs, but it's still a thing.
I just want floppies in general to die for being a shitty product in favor of trades.
And that's why they're unviable.
I find this retcon hilarious
>12 years and digital sales have not seen an increase
YOU KNOW WHY THAT IS?
BECAUSE DIGITAL HAS TO BE PRICED SAME AS SHITTY PHYSICAL PRICES BECAUSE NOOOO CANT KILL THE LCS. Of fucking course at the same price point you will get physical instead of digital you fucking diamond shill
FUCK THEM
>After pretty much nuking anything related to the Inhumans, Marvel does one last spit take on there graves.
Guess it's back to hiding in the mountains or some part of deep space for them.
>What is the chance that everyone turned gay after being resurrected?
100% if Jean Grey is the one doing the resurrection.
If he did the entire process himself they probably wouldn't have enough bodies to last him.
>I'm pretty sure Proteus' reality warping has always been a lot more limited than other reality warpers. If he could just make new bodies, his main problem wouldn't exactly have ever been a problem.
His limitation is stuff stops getting warped if he stops focusing on it. Which again has nothing to do with not being able to make eggs. If anything that would just extend to him not being able to fertilize the eggs because they'd stop being fertile after he lost focus. So either you would have him do everything because now he doesn't have the focus limitation or you would have him not do shit because he can't make anything permanently. Whichever way you look at it there is no need for a guy who makes unviable eggs to be involved in the equation here.
His bigger limitation has always been that his body burns out faster depending on how much he uses his powers. Getting rid of the focus limitation doesn't get rid of that, so they still have plenty of reason to not have him do the whole process of making an entire mutant body.
>One nigga makes eggs( that vanish after a set amount of time)
>One nigga warps reality so that the eggs dont vanish
>One nigga makes it so the eggs can grow
>One nigga grows the eggs
>One nigga implant super power into the eggs
BUT THEN IT STILL WOUND'T BE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON, IT IS LITERALLY ANOTHER BODY THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU. MIGHT AS WELL GIVE EVERYONE ELEPHANT DICKS WHILE YOU ARE AT IT
Did you miss the part at the top where Sinister puts the mutant's genetic material into some organic material to create the husk?
>IT STILL WOUND'T BE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON
>IT IS LITERALLY ANOTHER BODY THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU
There was no continuity of self in the first place you fucking metaphysical pleb. Go eat a lot of psychedelics.
Do clones have souls?
This looks more an dmore like Black Widow retcon that she is a clone
clones are too overplayed.
Not sure if thisis a good idea
wow, OP actually delivered. This objectively makes us the best board
So I guess this means Demon Magik is just running around somewhere
So...does this mean that PENIS is canon and that's why Scott had a Pheonix Egg in his body?
that's impressively dumb
it takes five mutants with powers that can't be replicated working in an assembly line and a sixth mutant with powers that can't be replicated working alone to produce these husks and bring them to life with the mind of their donor-mutant intact
which takes how long, exactly? per egg, given that there's a production cost for the egg, it has to be pass through three others to be usable, and they have a teenager overseeing their work?
and then
>A backup of every mutant mind on the planet exists
this is how many mutants exactly
>Once a week, Charles Xavier copies the "latest version" of every mutant mind to multiple redundant "cradles" located in several locations across the world."
So it's however many mutants exist multiplied by whatever factor of redundancy Xavier feels comfortable with?
which means that they're producing husks maybe to order rather than storing them long-term (which would just raise further questions) so yeah, OK, maybe they're not working 24/7 to produce mindless clone bodies of "every mutant" on the planet but
when exactly does Charles Xavier find time to read and copy every mutant mind on the planet? this is in the 1000s at least
assuming he sleeps 8 hours in every 24 and has to be conscious for his transference to work (since there are problems when his unconscious mind gets control over his powers) and even being generous and saying he can do it effortlessly in addition to everything else he does, that's a maximum of 11520 mutants per 16 hours assuming each transfer takes an unrealistic 5 seconds
at say 300 seconds per that's 192 mutants a day so the ideal transfer time is somewhere between 5 seconds and 5 minutes
what is his copy error rate
what safeguards on data transfer/exploitation does he offer, given that he is rewriting every mutant on the planet weekly
I feel like he's been turned into a Cambridge Analytica proxy because Hickman is once again not as smart as he believes himself to be
Goldballs mutant power is actually high velocity mutant abortion.
According to Scarlet Spider, yes they also return to cloned bodies.
Proteus doesn't need to make new bodies. He just needs to alter the other guy so that he makes viable eggs. Blamingo, you've cut your workforce 20% and saved a whole lot of unnecessary process to boot.
>when exactly does Charles Xavier find time to read and copy every mutant mind on the planet? this is in the 1000s at least
Why do you think he's wearing Cerebro 24/7 now?
What is with Marvel? I can think o like 3,4 plot that involved growing a newbody and implant your mind into it just this year alone
>Xavier takes over this one fag's body and implant his mind into it
>Ironman "reset" his body whatever the fuck that means and implant his mind into it
>Knull using symbiote to form a body and implant his mind into it
>The villains in Spiderverse literally have a factory that grow their bodies so they can implant their mind into it
>Now the mutants are mass growing bodies and implant their mind into it
But then Goldballs might not feel comfortable throwing his balls at people anymore.
Clones never fucking work, it's a lazy workaround to everything.
Then why use Proteus at all, since if his warping stops working when he stops concentrating then, by definition, whatever he changed in the eggs to make them viable will change back in the adult forms they've become as well.
This is the old M-Day X-Gene problem. If it's off, it's off. Doesn't matter that it's there, it's just refusing to work. If Proteus can change that then fine, but if he stops concentrating, then it's off again. X-Gene is just DNA like anything else - and that's all he could possibly be called upon to change to make the eggs "viable". If the fault in the unviable eggs is with the DNA, and the DNA reverts when Proteus isn't looking... how many times do we have to repeat this?
I think...maybe some were already alive? Not sure.
Sinister has been cloning people alone successfully for decades. Why the fuck do they need this elaborate set up?
Because it's Sinister and they don't want to leave the process completely in his hands.
Shitty weak clones? Also tampering protection was mentioned
>actually believing any of this retarded shit is going to be canon
616 is life 11
>Reed richard with tits
Meh
I guess this bio-singularity bullshit is the new equivalent of radiations.
Hope buffing him and the rest during the process probably makes it permanent.
>all of the dead mutants in the Dawn of X books
>and this teaser from Incoming, which is firmly going to be 616, implying they're involved with what's happening there
Sorry m8, this is all 616.
White Kamala Khan?
>"perfect" clones
This is number one on my "congratulations, you destroyed my interest" list. I was really enjoying this run too.
>There has been no experimentation regarding what happens when you combine a mutant MIND with a HUSK that is not their own
I'm excited for the body swap arc!
jesus christ user you can't possibly imagine anybody who can do simple math is actually reading X-Men books any more
OK, let's widen it out and say he gets 24 hours of coverage, doesn't sleep, doesn't shit
that's only 17280 mutants a day at 5 seconds each or 288 at 300 seconds
and mutants are still in the thousands, or maybe millions
lets say it's half a million worldwide, that's 1736 days working 25/7 to copy them all at 5 minutes a pop or just under 29 days to copy them all at 5 seconds a pop
to copy 500,000 minds every week *just once* not the multiple redundant copies talked about in what is laughably referred to as the X-canon now would mean each copy would have to be taken in 1.2 seconds (well, 1.2096, but who's counting, we'll say Xavier eats sleeps and shits in the 80 minutes those .0096 extra seconds give him each week)
does that sound like something reasonable to you, that your entire mind could be copied in 1.2 seconds with no errors or loss of data, without turning you into a fucking vegetable? I'm just gonna go ahead and answer this rhetorical question for you you poor dumb bastard no it does not sound like something reasonable to you, in fact it sounds comically pisspoor at a conceptual level
The price of printing a comic is very low user. ~30 cents for a creator owned title, probably even lower for a big two title.
I think when the X-Men have fought several internal conflicts regarding the future of their kind, some kid's discomfort is probably not a realistic argument for why they wouldn't make him into a live egg factory, alien queen style, instead of just using him as a dead egg factory
fucking Rube Goldberg balls is what they should call him
You're forgetting a very logical application of this process: multiple copies of Xavier are in play at the same time.
Then why use Proteus at all if Hope buffing him makes it permanent? Just get him to alter Goldenballs, or fuck, just get him to alter reality so that this pointless process is no longer performed and get Hope to buff that so it works even when Proteus goes for a wank and forgets what he was doing before.
Couldn't they have multiple Xavier clones doing the menial copying work?
If the most powerful mind on the planet boosted even further being able to copy minds super fast makes you this autistic, speedsters must make you go ape shit.
>Do clones have souls?
No, but neither do regular people. Each instance of "you" in every moment from birth to death is just narrativized into the idea of a single entity for convenience e.g. when you need to figure out how to respond to a crime or come up with a good guess for how to solve a medical problem. But there isn't any literal connecting mechanism that makes a line of space-time frames share in a combined "self" any more than there's a literal connecting mechanism that would make a line of pebbles you lay out on the ground share in a combined "self." All you have are proximity in space and time and similarity in structure, memory content, habits, etc.
I honestly don't give a shit, that's not logical at all, they should be driving each other crazy even in X-Men canon the way the Cuckoos did.
Souls are canon in comics so everything you just said is the equivalent of saying that FTL travel is impossible
Depends on how much Hope can buff him. She might be able to buff him into making eggs permanently viable, but changing a mutant's powers permanently might be too much even with that buff.
No, it isn't. Printing costs depend on the size of the print run and the quality of paper and ink used. A big print house might be able to fit your run in after something else with very little changeover so that, in effect, you as a small publisher would be able to benefit from economies of scale even though you're not printing that much, but to suggest there's a single prix fixe solution to printing is ludicrous. Economics do not work that way.
You better be sorry. This shit is awful
Do you think Proteus feels weird wanking it in a clone of Xavier's body?
>A process that was considered inhuman / immoral and only used by villains back in the day is now considered normal and used by "heroes"
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Xavier's fucking sick of it dude.
No more.
Bet Beast will be one of the first to go for it.
Obviously every print run is different, I'm just saying that a decent selling indie comic is around 30 cents, so the big two is probably even less.
>does that sound like something reasonable to you, that your entire mind could be copied in 1.2 seconds with no errors or loss of data, without turning you into a fucking vegetable?
Stop putting minds on a pedestal. You ever stop to realize minds are extremely impressive ACCORDING TO MINDS?
>autistic
>highschool grasp of math
shut up and get me my fries, dickhead
WHY THO
WHY DO ANY OF IT AT ALL
WHY GO TO THE TROUBLE OF THIS RIDICULOUS PROCESS OUT OF SOME PRIMAL FEAR OF DEATH WHEN IT'S THE FUCKING X-MEN AND WE ALL KNOW THEY'VE LITERALLY ALL BEEN DEAD AND IN ANY CASE THEY'RE CLEARLY RESURRECTING RAPISTS AND MURDERERS AMONG THE REST BECAUSE THEY'RE COPYING ALL MUTANT MINDS EVERY WEEK
I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH HICKMAN THAT HE WANTS CHARLES "TAINTED BACKSTORY" XAVIER TO BE CONTINUALLY MINDRAPING EVERY MUTANT ON THE PLANET AS PART OF SOME INSANE RITUAL TO DEFEAT DEATH AND CREATE A RACE OF CRYPTO-FASCIST SUPERMEN WHO NUMBER AMONG THEMSELVES THE VERY WORST CRIMINALS HUMANITY IN ANY FORM HAS EVER MADE, NOT SUPERVILLIANS BUT THE HUMDRUM RAPEY, DRUG DEALY, PEOPLE TRAFFICKY, MURDERY KIND OF CRIMINALS
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE'S A MUTANT WHO DID THE MURDERS ABOUT TO BE EXECUTED AND CHARLES XAVIER JUST RESURRECTS THE CUNT IN A NEW BODY HALF THE WORLD AWAY BECAUSE HE'S GOT THE LUCKY GENE
WHEN ARE THE X-MEN GOING TO TAKE SOME FUCKING RESPONSIBILITY AND WHILE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT WHY DOESN'T THE IDEA OF HAVING MINDS INVADED AND COPIED, WHICH ALWAYS HORRIFIED XAVIER BEFORE, HORRIFY HIM NOW
OH RIGHT BECAUSE HICKMAN DOESN'T READ
you have a small point, but purely coincidentally
>calls me autistic and a dickhead then says I have a point
>doesn't know how to turn the caps lock button off
Yep. You've got the 'tism.
>WHY DOESN'T THE IDEA OF HAVING MINDS INVADED AND COPIED, WHICH ALWAYS HORRIFIED XAVIER BEFORE, HORRIFY HIM NOW
It didn't horrify him "before" in this life we're reading about.
That's the entire fucking point you pseudosaurus.
You’re autistic and everything you say boils down to “it’s not happening the way I want it to” and “not muh”. The latter might have some credence as the PoX timeline is likely not 616
>You ever stop to realize minds are extremely impressive ACCORDING TO MINDS?
Wow so deep. Based Hickman really making me think
>The latter might have some credence as the PoX timeline is likely not 616
Everyone who thinks this is going to be in for a rude awakening soon. See Hickman isn't building this new status quo to just immediately retcon it all as a life that was erased.
HoX is probably 616 (and is featured in incoming). PoX is likely not
I don't know if this is really fucking stupid or really smart. I'm assuming something will break the process before the beginning of the ongoings.
At least my boy Madrox is being brought back correctly and not the awful way Rosenberg did it.
Not even really joking. You should never lose sight of what should be a really obvious bias to treat our minds like they're the most amazing thing in existence. We're as far away from impartial as you can get on that subject. In fact it's probably because of how low performance and not nearly as impressive as we believe our own minds are that we fail to notice everything else in the universe that would be more impressive if we were smart enough to even begin engaging with it. That's how impressive stuff we do know about comes across to non-human animals who can't begin engaging that.
>Previous arc
>Jesus Xman made an entirely new dimension for mutants only
>Everyone gets mad for some reason
>Slut overlord manipulated the mind of everyone on Earth so the Xmen are accepted
>Everyone gets mad for some reason
>Xavier becomes mutant Binladen and evacuate all mutants to some fuck know where island then send a group of them to suicide bombing the human with the promise that they will all be resurrected
>It's k
????????????????????????????????
>Hickman isn't building this new status quo to just immediately retcon it all as a life that was erased.
That's exactly what he's hoping you think so that when it does get erased you praise his genius.
I'm going to love characters referencing this in a few years. "Remember that time when there were 20 copies of me running around and Xavier spent almost all his time creating memory backups of all the world's mutants? That was neat"
PoX is 4 times periods, 2 of which are probably 616, 1 is definitely life 9, and one which could be any life (or, as I'm predicting, all of them)
It prevents cheap deaths as plot device, which I'm fine with. It forces his group of writers to think smarter about their plotting and big character beats. I think people are getting too wrapped up in the technical minutiae of it all (it's a fucking comic book about mutated humans with powers. We've already passed the threshold of believability), and not seeing the plot potential here. What if it all fucks up makes for a great storyline
The issue opens with the arrival of The Five: five mutants whose powers work in tandem to resurrect other mutants. Goldballs (previously thought to be worthless, his balls are actually the eggs), Proteus (basically inseminates the eggs), Elixir (gives life to the egg), Tempus (can make the inhabitant of the egg any age), and Hope (amplifies the other four mutant's powers). We then see the same 2 page splash page from House of X #1 with the X-Men coming out of the pods...so that particular scene was a flash forward. The whole team of X-Men who died in the previous issue are resurrected using a combination of the Five's power, the collected DNA from Sinister's library, and a mental backup from Xavier's Cerebro...basically Cerebro scans every mutant every week and uploads a backup of their memory to be implanted in the regrown husk body. Storm declares Cyclops' resurrected team the "heroes of Krakoa"
Xavier and Magneto's grand plan is revealed: they plan toresurrect as many mutants as possible using Krakoa, the Five, Cerebro, and Sinister's library. It is explained how this would work, but it will take hundreds of years to bring back all 16 million mutants. This explains how certain previously deceased mutants are back. This seems to be the plot point of the upcoming X-Force book.
The UN votes...Emma mind controls enough of the Ambassadors to ensure the vote passes. Xavier promises she will be rewarded (a hint to the direction of The Marauders book). Some major countries reject the deal.
The issue ends with every mutant villain arriving on Krakoa to join the X-Men. Krakoa seems especially pleased to be reunited with Apocalypse.
That doesn't make any sense. Half the world's mutant population were killed on Genosha, as stated on page, if only 1 million mutants were depowered on M-Day that would have left 15 million mutants with powers. Did Hickman literally retcon out 15 million mutants, then ignore that AvX resulted in another couple of million mutants around?
>suicide bombing the human with the promise that they will all be resurrected
To be fair suicide bombers in real life would be a lot easier to at least understand where they're coming from if they had an actual plausible non-religious mechanism for respawning (and as adults, not babies; even the religions that believe in reincarnation / rebirth where you have to start over from the womb recognize that shit is a bad time).
Tony stark would approve, he makes another copy of himself every other day
The only thing I know is that I know nothing. Wow so deep.
Sure, our minds are just the product of a poorly optimized biological computer but you have to remember, these simple things are being copied by an equally simple thing. It's not like Strange is forcing some higher power to do it. Xavier is just another human mind.
Xavier is a fucking telepath, his mind is not just another regular human. Plus cerebro
Oh god, those five are probably going to be on the chopping block!
>The only thing I know is that I know nothing.
No, I said don't put minds on a pedestal. Did you just learn that quote in Philosophy class and were waiting for an opportunity to repeat it somewhere?
>it will take hundreds of years to bring back all 16 million mutants
Wait what about that shit about mutants being the dominate species in twenty years?
>Xavier is just another human mind.
He's explicitly not human. He's the most powerful mutant telepath on the planet.
>It's not like Strange
This story happened like two seconds after Xavier beat Shadow King in an astral plane duel. It's pretty fucking similar to Strange.
However many they bring back in that time span plus how many new ones are born will probably lead to that.
>it will take hundreds of years to bring back all 16 million mutants
>Wait what about that shit about mutants being the dominate species in twenty years?
It's almost like you don't need to resurrect 16 million dead people just to be the dominant species on the planet or something. I dunno, just my interpretation there.
If they're smart they already have back up bodies prepared for them to copy paste into.
Hope will probably rebel at some point though since she's Hope.
>>A process that was considered inhuman / immoral and only used by villains back in the day is now considered normal and used by "heroes"
>Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
This is hickman avengers 2.0
I read spoilers and they welcome mutants villains on krakoa
That was obvious from the first fucking issue, user. The first goddamn scene of the series was pod-people being born.
You're accusing me of being the one wanking off to entry level philosophy? That's rich.
>He's explicitly not human. He's the most powerful mutant telepath on the planet.
If his mind is so much better then why does he constantly fail? If this is life 11 then why did he get BTFO in 10 previous lives?
>Story explicitly has elements about digitizing mutant minds and creating a digital database
>DURR HOW DOS DA XAVUR DO IT DURR
>>Story explicitly has elements about digitizing mutant minds and creating a digital database
>>DURR HOW DOS DA XAVUR DO IT DURR
geezus stop dumbing down the discussion
Is Hickman's goal to make the X-Men as unlikeable as possible? If this is really the status quo I might not pick up any of the new X-books. This makes them all come off as creepy assholes.
Its comic book superscience, user. They shit out retarded science every fucking day. Why is this where you draw the line?
While I dont like the whole cloning bullshit I do like that Hickman made Xmen be what Rightclops was becoming, owning up their own militant past and the need to essentially become as supremacist as Magneto used to be because thats what any group would become when face with genocide, extinction and being antagonized by pretty much most governments.
X-Men becoming more morally grey and less heroic is a good thing in my opinion.
>Did Hickman literally retcon out 15 million mutants,
Yes.
>then ignore that AvX resulted in another couple of million mutants around?
He left that in. Thats why mutants are projected to be the dominant species in 20 years. He basically retconned the Morrison number so that he could use it himself to bring mutants back up to the Morrison number.
Yes. It is retarded. I know.
Reminder that getting turned into a Brood was all part of Xavier's plan to bring about this Krakoan utopia 10 years later. Of course the fact that he escaped by using a Shi'ar clone is neither her nor there but Moira was there so clearly it was all part of the plan to forget about the Shi'ar cloning.
I like how nobody gave two (or even one) fucks about your post.
Go paint Batman on your finger and stick it up your ass.
no more Marvel Zombies
Fuck you Hackman
Is Scarlet Witch still mutant? Have they figured out what the fuck it is that she does yet?
Reminder that Moira married an abusive deadbeat husband so she could birth Proteus only to immediately try to blow his brains out with a sniper rifle the moment he got loose.
She's explicitly referred to as a "pretender". She's still not a mutant. And she won't be until after the MCU is no longer a thing, or until the MCU decides to retcon her into being a mutant.
That sounds incredibly stupid. Just ask Franklin Richards and he could easily resurrect the entire population on his own.
Unless she married him in her sixth life, she didn't know how that would turn out. And marrying Joseph was just a giant fuck up.
>Nobody is buying the book you shill.
Unfortunately, you're wrong.
Not anymore he can't, thanks to Slott.
Reminder that LUCIFER is the greatest threat to the future of mutants. Otherwise, why would Xavier be so reckless in his attempt to defeat him? After all, Xavier had already met Moira by this point in time so he knew about the dangers of Nimrod and yet he still allowed himself to be crippled just to confront some random alien.
>You're accusing me of being the one wanking off to entry level philosophy?
Yes?
>That's rich.
You're the one posting pseud Socrates quotes little buddy. All I did was point out you might be putting the human mind on a pedestal.
Do we see any implied nudeness? Perhaps Jean?
Larraz draws her hot.
more like Hackman, amirite
>After all, Xavier had already met Moira by this point in time so he knew about the dangers of Nimrod and yet he still allowed himself to be crippled just to confront some random alien.
Proof this version of Xavier we're currently reading about got paralyzed from Lucifer in the same exact scenario? I know he got paralyzed, but that could be from other causes (and before you say that's unlikely, I'll point out that already, in canon, other instances of Xavier have gotten paralyzed in other situations).
>All I did was point out you might be putting the human mind on a pedestal.
I did no such thing and you're acting like you're special for pointing it out. My point remains the same regardless of the complexity of what is being copied. A PS4 can't emulate a PS4 while simultaneously running a PS4 game.
Because as far as idiots in this thread are concerned, the pod people are totally 616 canon.
This is the Yea Forums equivalent to "Your /pol/ humor threads never cease to amaze me..." or whatever it is.
I avoid saying this sort of stuff on other places because people for some reason are really excited for this run and I don’t wanna harm anything generating interest in the industry.
But since Yea Forums is the home for contrarians and part poopers I’ll just say it:
This is all really fucking stupid.
Moira’s twist does not hold up to scrutiny and it’s stupid.
Hickman’s dialogue is so fucking full of himself.
None of this is interesting in the least.
I’m very disappointed, I just hope there’s a net positive such as Eye-boy being brought back to life with this all mutants are immortal dumb shit.
But seriously I don’t get at all why people are excited.
>Eye-boy being brought back to life
He died?
plz post more house and powers of x spoilers. im loving this run
very cool
I thought Mimic wasn't a mutant? Does that mean they'll clone their non-mutant friends like Brian and Longshot.
>Proof this version of Xavier we're currently reading about got paralyzed from Lucifer in the same exact scenario?
Proof he hasn't? When was that retconned?
"This is actually not-616" is on the same level of retardation as "Xavier is actually a villaineous Reed Richards from another dimension because he is wearing a big helmet".
They call him a mutant there, so looks like they're retconning him into one.
>Synch
Now we just need Skin alive again
Cullen Bunn, the absolute cunt, killed him like a month after the end of Generation X on a throwaway panel during the Venom event. “Venomized”? Honestly I can be arsed to actually google that stupid event.
He was alive in Age of X-Man right before this though.
That was largely ignored because he was always just there.
I guess the gold balls are the 'eggs' which Proteus warps into bodies. Goldballs can create limitless balls, and I guess Hickman couldn't resist using mutant alchemy to transmute gold into life.
...hang on why not just use literally the mutant Alchemy?
Sure because Marvel is a fucking mess and apparently Editors don’t exist.
He did die though, happy he’s back, but frustrated that it’s unexplained and solely due to disorganization.
Why would this matter if not 616? Bitchrs think this is a AU
Clearly 11th life is a out of this
>...hang on why not just use literally the mutant Alchemy?
He killed by the Terrigen mist, if I remember correctly.
Hope presumably buff's Proteus' ability long and powerfully enough for Elixir to generate the animus. Then Proteus can stop focusing on it.
Cyclops has a line in an early issue where he says basically 'I've been shat on my whole life by people, did you think I would just take it forever?"
That's essentially what Professor X and Moria x 10 are thinking. NO MORE.
>this entire story
Paulie Provenzano. I'd imagine the X-Men using him as a go between for criminal connections or something, since his power set is so generic & low level.
God no. We don't need his or The Fury's bullshit.
What if they meant to said "No, more" and everyone just misheard?
>She's explicitly referred to as a "pretender".
I hate Scarlett Witch and even I think that's some bullshit
Well, Cyclops did invite the Richards' to bring Franklin over
OP is just guessing. Post proof or fuck off. They will likely get ppd resurrected in this issue but since it's not 616 it doesn't matter. Also I think the spoilers dont leak earlier then teusday.
Wrong
I figured th IP s was wht keeping psychic contact was important. Last moment copies that were possible.
Literally Scarlet Witch
Is it?
I mean, calling her a pretender speaks more about the person who has compiled the info dumps than it does Wanda. All it shows is that the person who wrote the data is throwing shade against Wanda because the person is racist.
>x men end up becoming official marvel villains
well shit
Does that mean they're going to have Magneto recoat Logan's skeleton?
Lmao you moron
Wolverine regrew his own body all the time, hell there was this one time that fucker regenerated from a single cell if i remembered correctly. Adamantium skeleton doesnt matter unless the writer remember it
Explaining why Jean was freaking out that she wouldn't be able to keep the team in contact with Xavier without M boosting her.
Hmm
>Hickman keeps talking about how their mutant clothes are important
>Jean is wearing her Marvel Girl outfit
>She's acting all weak and scardey like her pre-Phoenix version
>Xavier can pick and choose which mind-state to copy into people
>Cyclops is acting like Xavier's perfect version of Scott, the loyal soldier, he's even wearing his Mutant Revolution uniform but in calm X-Men blue instead of dangerous red
Oh great, Xavier is giving everyone the minds he thinks they should have
I wonder if he made Scott the perfect Jean as a reward for being best boy
It has been years, i am surprised Wolvie hasnt gotten a Vibranium upgrade to his skeleton yet
Casual observer here. Isn't the white room the culmination of all the psychic energies which is why phoenix is obsessed with muties every so often? Now if it's the end point of all psych thought that means it's time transcendent. So couldn't you just send/store a psychic representation of someone in there for whomever the current phoenix avatar is to act as the preserver of? It exists at the nexus of physical realities making it essentially a throne of heroes but for muties.
All you'd need then is for someone to create the bodies (which they have covered) and then have the mind/soul come back to it through phoenix force. Less bullshit. Quite frankly as long as they were waiting in the White Hot Room they'd be able to have reality warpers like Nate or David on call to do the ENTIRE process at any point in time with any mutant in HISTORY if they were psy and with any mutant from the point the project began because they can just pop their head out of the room and yoink all the muties.
Wouldn't overseeing a near infinite collection of mutant minds in a point beyond space be a fitting use of David for example both thematically and mechanically.
>muties have a uncorruptable collection of their minds and bodies existing in a point inaccessible to most of the universe
Seems a bit less vulnerable than Sinister.
They will clone her apparently.
Kidden or whatever her name is from NYC. What are the odds she's in a background somewhere.
Laura just left her in the street instead of getting her into xaviers.
>NYC
NYX
>inherent vulnerabilities
Mutant resurrection breaks if one of the 5 aren't alive themselves, only Hope is theorized as replacable.
So I guess Xavier has copies of the 5 frozen somewhere, huh? I guess they could make copies of themselves and Tempus could freeze them in time. Or some other bullshit.
Now let's hope Xavier clone a non-gay Iceman.
>I wonder if he made Scott the perfect Jean as a reward for being best boy
Best Dad if true
I see why Jordan White think "we can't do that"
This is like Dead No More but better?
Does this make Cerebro like a virtual reality where they just download their mind into body for missions?
Oh wait, apparently he's not dead. Just stuck in limbo, forgotten.
Probably lost his powers on M-Day at the worst possible time.
What about that one mutant whose power was to make everyone forget about him. What was his name?
This is so retarded I fucking hate Hickman.
That isn't awesome though. It's fucking stupid.
youre an idiot, he LITERALLY provided proof
hereyoure an idiot
>Xavier got crippled, then uncrippled, then recrippled
Genuionely stupider than characters coming back to life.
Well that's not ALL. There's the copies Xavier is making needing storage on world somewhere. There's Xavier getting domed. There's sinister getting domed. There's the genetic material getting fucked with. There's the 6 man team getting domed.
No the process is like a nuclear reactor where they'd need to hit a lot at once (like all the clone team or the active xavier and all the inevitable back ups). The alteration of genes however is more insidious and could fuck things up irreparably long term and go undiscovered short term.
White Hot Room doesn't have that issue. Put one or two reality warpers in a place beyond time space that's only really accessible to high tier psy actors and you're golden forever unless the enemies of mutant kind step up their psychic potential a whole lot.
So yeah, it's bullshit regardless of what angle you look at it.
They are all clones.
There's really no need to wait for a mutant to die before they awake some of their clones.
They can just make a fifty Proteus and fifty Hopes and use their powers to warp reality into whatever endgame they have in mind. Problem solved.
Proteus is said to keep backup bodies so it's apparently possible to keep some ready. Xavier will have multiple backups.
This xavier will just correct her thoughts hes hardcore.
based
fuck shops
but why
is hickman secretly an anti mutant?
Why bother with that? There's no reason why they couldn't be pumping out Franklins, Davids and true to Sinister form Nates. At that point, assuming you imprint the right mind or rather a mind with the right 'attitude' you're good to increase production exponentially.
Why bother with high-tier mutants when there are God-tier muties on tap?
My only real issue with this is how needlessly complex the cloning process is. Why use these 5 mutants when you can just rip an already perfected cloning method from Sinister's mind? The room for failure with this plan is so much higher if anything happens to the five muties. With Sinister's method, its just machinery that needs to get fixed up.
I'm sorry but someone mind explaining to me how this "fixes" The X-Men?
I've grown to enjoy the pain of wandafags so it's actually a little funny. I can see the potential.
I want to support my lcsw but I kinda dont want the physical comics after. Is digital buying worth anything?
Because now they can go cosmic and stay there, cucking the fuck out of Inhumans and returning to their star spanning origins.
There's no stakes on a world scale now that there are infinite reality warpers on tap. They are officially a singularity tier civilization that has no existential threats.
Yeah, our books average around $0.30 per copy. The better ones are around a quarter, and the shitty ones are almost $0.40. Our print runs hover around 8000.
Well as an X-casual strictly speaking from an outsider perspective I only really cared about the X-Men when they were a SMALL group of misfits who occasionally saved the world after classes. But then again when has the school ever fucking mattered? Because most of what I've digested is cosmic bullshit anyway so
Screw your shop. Just buy digital and enjoy the stories as you want. Floppies are antiquated.
Well now they can keep that distinction in tact without harming either side of it. You have your safe angsty teens who are constantly being born and coming to terms with their powers and role in society and you have your space opera alien fighting crew being important on a larger scale and free of editorial bullshit and inter-team politics on earth
Isnt that just having your cake and eating it too? Convoluted method aside, isn't making The X-Men immortal degrade all tension in their books now? Granted its not like resurrections weren't the regular before but still.
>death is the only way to have tension in a story
God, you morons are insufferable.
Sorta. It could be the worst decision ever dropping ALL the tension from things. It could be a middling decision where this entire system is secret knida like the illuminati team and regular muties don't operate under the assumption they'll come back and really, after the initial event only important actors will be restored when the species needs them.
They could also have it work and then get destroyed/attacked/limited in some way so it's not as perfect as it appears or comes with some sort of cost.
OR they could go above and just focus on bigger picture shit where immortality doesn't matter and street-level shit where it's more about character development and small personal stakes
How could they not do that before?
Are we really pretending that giving characters an in-universe reason to come back to life is anything worthwile? How could such solid digits be wasted on a battered wife?
It's just going to be "well in an unexpected turn of event involving [unexpected character], this new thing isn't all what it's cracked up to be, let's go back to status quo".
It'll get blown open, it's not going to be forever
Shady shit will have been going down, Jean is basically out of character and Scott is too perfect
And I don't care what bullshit has happened in the past, Hickman is way too autistic to have Wolverine cloned without explaining the adamantium skellington, esp as his reality warper is fucked up by touching it
I guess one of the mutants can just make it, that's why they're so rich
You know, they should be looking into ways of improving mutant bodies so that, for example, Chamber doesn't blow his fucking face off the first time he uses his powers.
They have no excuse to waste my time with inter-team politics or persecution shit anymore. Muties have secured their existence. Social friction can still make sense but the moment an existential threat appeared it would be stomped out and therefore be boring. It's a return to adventure and a release from a cheap status quo.
No one can touch them anymore earthside so they have to move on from the struggle and into the result. Mutants are an irrefutable pillar of society now. You can kill them with machines and you can't lean on them with other super teams. The writers have to move on to new pastures
Stop that.
>high velocity mutant abortion
This is the name of Quire's punk band, I'd bet.
But you don't NEED such a cheap in-story excuse for any of that shit, you just need writers to want to write space adventure stories. And if you think it's going to prevent any writer from doing whatever the fuck they want with mutants you're fucking delusional.
You think dying is bad? How about dying over and over?
Id'z nod habbening.
>Hackman just got around to watching Altered Carbon on Netflix so now we have mutant resleeving
Sigh.
It’s stated that Cerebro’s primary purpose has always been to archive mutant minds, and that tracking was secondary.
But ever basic threat up to this point is no longer relevant that's the whole point of the arc. You can't (or shouldn't) write a story about a threat that doesn't matter. There's no proper in character reason to be as antsy as they were either. They have an I win button for most low scale threats.
It's not what they can do but rather what they can't write or are penalised for, now.
it's hickman
>Holy shit Hickman put a lot of thought into this.
By watching Day After Tomorrow and/or Groundhog Day and expanding the cycle to birth rather than the day before?
And then having minds archived and downloaded into clone bodies like the "Methuselahs" in Altered Carbon?
You kids really need to get out more.
I understand superhero writing 102 is "threaten something other than the unkillable super being", I'm just saying it's not going to have lasting effects because this cloning going to quickly be shown to not be viable for some reason or another. Hickman is more interested in twists and looking clever than finding himself an excuse to write pure pulp.
The "unexpected" twist is that this whole shit isn't a good idea. Shocking.
I want to believe.
Yeah, but it's eventually all going to collapse, isn't it? Hickman has his x year plan, we'll get the first wave of stories out of all this and it'll eventually go tits up.
Xavier has basically finally lost it, he's done a Phoenix Five on himself. Moria came to him with all this knowledge, that 9 or X attempts at different ways never worked, so he's said Fuck It and just made himself mutant god for the 'good' reason that it will save everyone. He's off his head.
>No more mutants will ever die
You don't get to decide that, it's not evolution. He's going against a primary theme and considering what we've seen and his background, is also highly likely to be fucking with people's personalities or self-knowledge.
It's not sustainable long-form as an effective dramatic setting as you point out, and it's counter to core themes, hell, there's dozens of people saying the X-Men don't even feel like superheroes atm for goodness' sake.
It's one of his bullshit 5 year stories or however long it takes for Apocalypse or someone to figure it out or manage to object enough to start the ball rolling on crashing it down.
Bless him for finally bringing back Tempus
>this cloning going to quickly be shown to not be viable for some reason or another
I mean: the process is needlessly complex and involves multiple obvious failure points. It's literally defective by design.
And even if that wasn't the case: we're talking about the X-Men here where they have multiple healers like Triage and Elixer and yet Karma has to run around with a robot leg and Chamber is still missing half his face.
That's why I called you a battered wife earlier.
It's better to be an interesting intellectual property than 'superheroes'. I just want to see the status quo move a little.
We've been stuck in angsty para-military (not despondent super teen teams) for awhile now. Change has to be coming.
Also just make yourself a body pillow of pic related, because honestly you'll be better off.
You make it sound a lot more interesting than it is.
Moira is going to be the Phoenix. We all know this, right?
I just don't get the point.
Emma uses her telepathy to manipulate people at the UN to advance the mutant's agenda. If manipulating people like this is no moral quandary, why don't they just go one step furthet and use their telepathy to make humans stop hating mutants?
If they have this awesome "mutant generator" process that can make copies and bring back everyone, why they waste time bringing back Angel and the likes? To make copies of reality warpers and do what they want should be easy enough.
If they have Proteus at their side, I don't even get why Cyclops had to go to Mother Mold. Proteus could have destroyed it from Earth.
Yeah, maybe I'm projecting.
All New All Different like
is calling for is a good idea for a while and maybe that's all it is.
It's just hard to shake how weird it is with, well, a dozen things.
Even minor shit like 'oh great, Tempus is back and happily helping with her bullshit OP powers' when we last saw her swearing to delete Cyclops from existence if he didn't stop trying to violently change the status quo...well wtf is Xavier doing?
So you have try and work out how she is going along with this, and then we're back in the projecting thing of wondering if Hickman has plans for that beyond planting the question as part of the shaky foundations, or if that even is an intention.
Tempus' powerset fucks with everything Moira is even trying to communicate.
Like remember in AoA, Apocalypse had all time-travelers and dimension-jumpers executed?
Isn't Chamber pretty much a psionic being like Proteus and only keeps the rest of his skin because he wants to?
>Proteus could have destroyed it from Earth.
The same reason Magneto or Polaris didn't just zip up there and toss the whole thing into the sun: plot induced stupidity aka The Idiot Ball.
Chamber's whole thing is that he is angry that he is one of the mutants who have a hideous physical appearance due to his mutation. All of his storylines where is isn't a background guy revolve around it. Going right back to the start when he couldn't kiss Paige. And he was shown able to just generate his powers from an implanted device in his chest in Generation Next, which was like the 5th comic he was ever in.
When he has his face he's usually shown as being happy, then written out until his powers go off or something else happens and he's a mess again. Because his whole look that people like is his fucked up version. So you can't take his character beyond that. But then when you introduce things like they apparently have now, it becomes cruel and hard to believe.
If they have body-modification abilities like they do now, when they make a new him they can have Forge and Dr Nemesis and Beast and Elixir or who the fuck ever fix it so he can use his powers and still have a face to kiss hot girls with.
And yeah, he's essentially a psionic being, but he needs his physical form to interact with the world, and he can't make a new one or live without it. Except now they can make a new one.
>only keeps the rest of his skin because he wants to?
It was pretty clear during the Gen-X days that he'd really REALLY like to have a face, but couldn't because reasons.
Just like Beast couldn't revert the process that caused him to be furry and Cyclops still needs to wear that stupid visor due to brain damage when he and his brother jumped out of a plane as teenagers.
I like to think he's just a psionic force using a husk of a body for fun, so its poetry he's in love with Husk, in an annual he reconstituted his entire body so he could could probably fix it anytime
he got a face in Tieri's Weapon X for like two issues
poink
>When he has his face he's usually shown as being happy, then written out until his powers go off or something else happens and he's a mess again. Because his whole look that people like is his fucked up version. So you can't take his character beyond that.
This sums up 97.1% of cape comics pretty well.
>Except now they can make a new one.
This also applies to No-Girl ( who is literally just a brain in a floating tank ).
Pretty sure Glob Hermon would like to give a new model a test drive as well, although that'd be giving up his mutant status so likely wouldn't be allowed.
It does specifically say that it's untested what happens when you restore a mind backup into a non-matching husk.
Presumably, not great things
I wonder if we'll get to see Chamber interact with Apocalypse at all now that he's an X-Man.
>when you restore a mind backup into a non-matching husk
Translation: plot contrived reason why the freaky looking mutants like Glob and Anole have to stay freaky looking.
Still doesn't explain Beast ( who changed himself into a fur ball although that might have been rectonned around the time he started looking like a cat ), nor Cyclops ( who *should* have control over his eyes in a pristine body grown from his DNA ), nor Karma ( she should have both legs ), nor Hellion ( he should have both hands ), nor ... but as with Chamber those are their established looks so I expect Hickman will just say the clones aren't really clones ( ie grown from dna in the usual way, only faster ) but rather more like analog copies of the respective mutants respective bodies ( so they keep their scars ).
the X-Men family reunion fans are really waiting for
>What was his name?
Forget-Me-Not. Shouldn't his power prevent him from getting back, though? Unless Xavier's telepathy somehow overrides it.
So we can agree Xavier Magneto Moira are the bad guys, right?
Also if this is 616 after all, I don’t get what the retcon is for all of Magneto’s conflict with the X-men, did Xavier and Magneto fall out sometime between the Island M scene and House of X?
Spurrier's X-Force was great
>>BUT THEN IT STILL WOUND'T BE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON
Is this really the hill you wanna die on regarding resurrection?
I mean yeah that's part of it, but it's also a "no more dead mutants" plan rather than a full blown eugenics project
Although as also mentioned, it will become one
No? What about this is villainous? Is mutant survival and existence villainous?
>Is this really the hill you wanna die on regarding resurrection?
Not that user, but his point was that this ISN'T resurrection. It's making copies.
Resurrection is when you die, and then you come back ( but it's still you ). Reincarnation is when you die, and then you get reborn ( but it's still you ).
This is like in the movie The 6th Day where they're just making very good dupes ( with the problem that if someone fucks up and creates a clone of someone who's still alive there will be two of you running around ).
youtube.com
Resurrection and reincarnation revolve around the concept of a soul or consciousness that exists and can't be duplicated where this is expressly NOT that rather it's copies made from backups.
They really should find a better source of embryos then the goldballs -> proteus pipeline
In that case he was basically using a cosmic cube to regenerate from a cell.
Let me guess; Latveria is one of the countries that reject the deal. I mean, it makes sense, right?
This is like the Star Trek transporter dilemma without that worlds hand wave around the dire consequences
They really are just making copies, any mutant who dies is 100% unambiguously dead and doesn't get to come back. A new copy of them is born and takes their place picking up where they left off.
>It exists at the nexus of physical realities making it essentially a throne of heroes but for muties.
Well no, not just for mutants, the White Room was effectively used in Quasar with a similar purpose when Wendell had his brush with Oblivion, and I believe Sentry also has something to do with it but my memory is rusty.
I know you didn't ask, but as one of the few Quasarfags in this board, I felt the need to point it out.
>Resurrection and reincarnation revolve around the concept of a soul or consciousness that exists and can't be duplicated where this is expressly NOT that rather it's copies made from backups.
But souls do exist in Marvel, so the only hole in this very scientifically-minded process to recreate their bodies from scratch while preserving their genetic material is how they're replicating the thought processes into the specific personality templates that correspond to each subject. So, rephrasing, philosophically speaking: Are you the sum of your parts (mind and body), or what binds them?
Hey Charles, it's a pity that you will never experience what true immortality is
IMAGINE!
So do you think resurected mutant copies still have souls? Because this is basically just copying their meat and mind.
>tfw I honestly didn't expect to be THIS disappointed THIS soon.
Jesus wept.
You'd think after the last 15 years or so I'd have fucking learned.
So is it implied that Moira told Xavier about this plan early? He needed to be basically make backups of every mutant on Earth in secret for a damn long time to resurrect everybody.
>Are you the sum of your parts (mind and body), or what binds them?
Nigger you literally started by answering your own question:
>But souls do exist in Marvel
So the answer is, obviously, the latter ( in 616 ).
A better question is: what happens to the dupes when THEY die? Do they end up in the ( known to exist ) afterlife?
How many copies of Logan, Scott, and Jean will be queue up at the Pearly Gates? ( or in Hell? )
>Cyclops ( who *should* have control over his eyes in a pristine body grown from his DNA )
I think the most recent retcon on why Scott has no control over his powers is that its purely a mental block.
>the mutant's biggest threat are machines
>they basically turned themselves into machines by backing their memories up and mass-producing their bodies
Pottery
>Also if this is 616 after all, I don’t get what the retcon is for all of Magneto’s conflict with the X-men, did Xavier and Magneto fall out sometime between the Island M scene and House of X?
The life 10 timeline shows that Magneto was recruited in Year 43, which is the scene we saw in PoX. And that in Year 47, there was a Xavier/Moira / Magneto schism. Which is 3 years before the Genosha genocide.
>Nigger you literally started by answering your own question
What I was getting at, and perhaps I wasn't clear, is what constitutes "a soul", and at what point it becomes the sum of your parts of whatever it is that binds them, and how do you define *that* thing in particular. That's where things get complicated to define because souls aren't tangible nor particularly easy to discern, whereas everything that makes you YOU can be defined: your personality, your body, your interests, your ideas, the relationships that shape you, your upbringing...
But I digress. This is not precisely a concept something they can handwave in a chart, so it effectively begins and ends with the things that can be quantified (mind and body), while the layer of the soul is assumed to integrate the whole. Otherwise you're stuck trying to define something that has puzzled philosophers for ages.
>A better question is: what happens to the dupes when THEY die? Do they end up in the ( known to exist ) afterlife?
Following upon my previous assumption, any subject with a differentiated mind and body who has different experiences and a separate ego should theoretically have a "soul" of its own, so yeah, perhaps there are myriads of Wolverines and Cyclopses and Jeans getting recycled and churned into the eternal cycle, but they are anomalies unto themselves after all.
>I think the most recent retcon on why Scott has no control over his powers is that its purely a mental block.
Shouldn't Emma and/or Charles just fix it, then?
That's a rhetorical question, of course: "they stay broken because reasons" is just how the X-Men roll. I remember when Emma told X-23 she couldn't undo her Trigger Scent conditioning because reasons and, more recently, when Havok was disfigured and they explained that they couldn't heal his face because reasons ( although that one seems to have eventually gone away ).
>How many copies of Logan, Scott, and Jean will be queue up at the Pearly Gates? ( or in Hell? )
Considering the number of times that the universe has been destroyed and recreated, there should be a shitload of copies of everyone's souls up in Heaven already.
I mean, the characters we're reading are not the same ones pre-Secret Wars, for example. Franklin and Reece were creating new universes, and a bunch of them were just perfect replicas of existing universes. Or when Genis blew up the universe, then created a new one with a slightly different timeline; not a rebirth, but a new universe that is very similar to previous one.
So since we're going full batshit and throwing out all the rules on this run will they finally unpack the decades of sexual tension between Magneto and Professor X?
I mean Charles is already rocking the catsuit, he'd probably be up for it.
>This is number one on my "congratulations, you destroyed my interest" list. I was really enjoying this run too.
It's the X-Men allying with Sinister and Apocalypse, using Frankenstein-tier mad science to grant themselves immortality through cloning. There's no way this ends well for them, it's another sign they're the bad guys in their own book.
>So is it implied that Moira told Xavier about this plan early?
I think this plan is what caused the Xavier/Moira/Magneto schism.
Magneto might be mind controlled in HoX for all we know.
>what constitutes "a soul"
In 616 terms, as in real life theology, it's an actual metaphysical THING. Hence one can sell their soul to Mephisto or, in one of the most moronic sequences I've ever read, sail into Heaven on a flying pirate ship and bring Nightcrawler back with you.
The problem with that, of course, is you end up with Vision ( or Viv ) who are literally constructs with the imprints of OTHER PEOPLE who, nevertheless, are supposed to basically be the same. So there's the bit in Champions where Viv's 'digital soul' gets transferred in and out of different bodies even though that makes no sense given that she was only ever a copy of someone else and what should be happening is just more copying of data.
You've also got Maddrox who's not doing anything wrong if he's just absorbing what are essentially very complex drones, but is a mass murderer if he's not.
Never underestimate the ability of atheists to get autistic about fiction refusing to conform to their lack of beliefs.
sci-fi sucks
>throwing out all the rules
Well... Hickman literally laid that out in House of X #2.
>You've also got Maddrox who's not doing anything wrong if he's just absorbing what are essentially very complex drones, but is a mass murderer if he's not.
Or he could just be splitting of pieces of his soul and reabsorbing it.
"Stop doing things that make everyone hate you" was just too difficult?
>implying Wandafags want her to be a mutant
Kinda hard when simply breathing is enough to set off a madman and have him create a new version of the sentinel project.
Also there was some stupid shit about a virus that hated mutants and infected all mankind with a "fuck mutants, kill them all" memetic bullshit compulsion thing in order to explain why someone will keep shooting at the dude who just saved a bus full of kids from the 12th alien invasion that month.
>Or he could just be splitting of pieces of his soul and reabsorbing it.
I don't see how it could work that way, at least in the old PAD run where he'd literally sent out dupes into the world, sometimes for YEARS. They'd often grown and changed and become very different people ( one of them had married and become a priest ). And they cease to exist as individuals when he reabsorbs them.
Of course if it's just data then that's not a problem since Maddrox Prime now remembers everything they did: no data was lost in the process while individuality most certainly was.
And at that point is where you get into a discussion with the materialists who will poke holes at the theory of "soul splitting", since it shouldn't be a thing (every living thing has a soul of the same "weight"), but at the same time, if it comes from God or TOAA in this case, then every living thing has a portion of it that comes from an emanation of the divine, so they're like rays splitting from a single source, all at the same distance from the Creator.
In other words, you can't define what exactly a "soul" is, but you know they are discrete things that have no particular dimension and correspond to every individual, and that Vision's dilemma here stems from assuming it needs to come from a fleshy body in order to "exist", when it's actually beyond that.
This. The only ones upset and constantly wanting to undo the retcon are X-Men fans, when Wanda has barely any association with them as it is and would rather not have any.
i dont get it at all, so charles is now god and is able to change at will how each xmen behaves after they current body dies?
for example: its so fucking stupid, at this point the xmen lost their shtick as oppressed minority and the writers have no idea what to do with them anymore
So what was Stryfe and Cable's deal?
I know that Cable being Scott's son was supposed to be a big twist and that Stryfe as originally a filler villain for someone else, but that's the limit of my 90s X-Force knowledge.
This is fucking horrible and gives Orchis a perfect justification for existing.
Think you’re missing a bunch of context, my dude
I actually let myself get excited for a few months about X-Men.
Cable is Scott’s son who was infected with the technovirus, and was sent to the future to be healed of the virus. (He wasn’t healed but was helped and taught to use his telekinesis to hold the virus in check.) Once in the future, because his survival was uncertain due to the virus, he was cloned. That clone was Stryfe.
Strife gets kidnapped by Apocalypse, and is raised to eventually be the perfect host for Apocalypse. Naturally, as a result, Stryfe grew up to be an evil, batshit insane lunatic.
The End.
hen is Apocalypse introduced?
I have this insane plan to write a fan work about the 90s period and Apocalypse just seems to come out of the blue from the (limited) selection of volumes I can get my hands on.
Well fuck me. Stryker was right, Cassandra Nova was right, every non-mutant villain was right.
given the set up so far with the egg room in the first issue and Xavier making deals with Sinister, my guess would be they're actually clones that are replaced every time they die, just like how Sinister uses the Mauraders. I think the bit with them using old costumes is a big clue there's going to be at least one fight where you see armies of clones xmen fighting all at once.
Yup. Mutants should be wiped out as they are literally a threat now.
You thought X was talkin' shit when he said no more?
Playtime's over.
Neither will you, flatscan.
>by definition, whatever he changed in the eggs to make them viable will change back in the adult forms they've become as well.
Think of it more he's the pilot light that starts a gas burner. He uses his powers just long enough to trigger the reaction, after which he's no longer needed in the process. The burner's flame doesn't die out after the spark stops because it's being fed by the gas line, and the flame continues to ignite the gas.
>see mutants that were recently killed coming out of pods in House of X #1
>it's implied they're indeed resurrection pods
>several weeks later, this issue comes out to explain the mechanism behind the pods
>"i LeT mEsElf gEt eXcItEd"
80s X-Factor.
FUCK YOUR CHARTS CHARLES
I always wondered why nobody brought back Maelstrom during the Inhumans' big push. He's one of their few classic villains that matter.
Say what you want about Hickman, but I haven’t seen Yea Forums get so excited over C-Men is a long time
And isn't a big plot point in Iron Man that Tony is having an existential crisis that he isn't the "real" Tony because his mind is a copy and his body has no genetic material from the original Tony left?
Doesn't seem to bother the X-Men.
Wait a minute, does this mean that Moira X gave birth to Proteus for the sole purpose of using him as a tool for mutant resurrection?
Skin and Bedlam from Generation X, they deserved better than crucifiction.
How are the X-men ever supposed to be likable or even relatable after this?
HMMMMMMMMM
That's just the sort of shit that happens when you adopt an ends justify the means mindset.
If everyone is just hunky dory with cloning everyone and don't care about the morality of it, why don't they just clone a whole batch of the Five and make it a giant cloning factory since they just use digitized memory implants of people's minds and memories? Way more efficient.
I mean, if the excuse is "well the Five would feel uncomfortable cloning themselves" literally what the fuck is stopping Xavier just having them mind wiped and house all the different batches of the Five in different locations so they never meet each other?
Why does Hickman always go off from a solid base into a retarded direction
You know, instead of using this super-complicated system, Hickman could have just said "the X-Men harnessed fragments of the Phoenix Force to bring back dead mutants". It's how Kid Cable brought back Cyclops.
It does remove any peril from stories since they can just be cloned back next issue.
> Demonic reeeee
Healer mutants were always a retarded idea. Too broken due to power level wank. Even during the Morlock era the healer always had to go "oh no I'm burned out!" before he was finally killed off.
Why is Hickman so inactive on Twitter and social media in general?
He is pretty active
twitter.com
Jackal did nothing wrong.
They already mention having backups readily on hand for The Five and similar important cases
Other than that it's because they're still people
This system is obviously there because it makes an eventual failure easier.
I think the key is going to be Cannonball. Without Xavier's influence on Earth he'll look at what's going on and go "what the fuck?". Would explain why Hickman is writing the first arc because it's going to be super important and they need people to read it.
Who needs "relatable?"
The X-Men are now dangerous like never before. People asking for more pointless books w/softball games at the mansion and Harry's Hideaway are in for a shock. But it was time. The mutants have been getting shit on for years. Payback time.
Oblivion won't let him out to play.
This sounds like a recipe for disaster. All it will take is the humans finding out and then targeting the incredibly important mutants for this process.
I havent really been following HOX/POX, but god damn from what I’ve seen this looks like a more convoluted mess than Hickmans Avengers run.
Hickman loves to tell and not show. Just look at his avengers.
It isn't.
They why doesn’t he write novels?
Uhm how is this exactly shocking?
We didn't know the details but this was a thing since HoX 1....
Depends on if Moira knew getting knocked into a coma and being raped by Joseph would lead to Proteus being born.
There’s no mention of Joseph from what we’ve seen in her past lives. And life 4, which is the one that is very similar to the current timeline, is where she was married to Xavier until the end.
So unless it happened in life 6, my guess is that Joseph/Proteus was not planned at all.
Hickman is probably going to introduce some technobabble about how only one copy of a person’s mind can be cloned. To prevent multiple copies of the same person being a thing.
(And then break that rule as a desperate measure for an army of fucked up degenerating clones or some shit.)
Comic readers by and large are complete morons.
Nah, I'm guessing that Moira somehow determined that her genes mixed with Joseph's genes would produce a mutant with Proteus' powers. Maybe Hickman will reveal that Moira was already pregnant when she left him before he tracked her down and raped her, and that was the real reason she left him, she had no use for him anymore.
The hows, whys and Xavier and Mags endgame are new, even if people already guess the pod people rebirth thing
Because you're expecting these second rate meant writers to know enough about the Inhumans to bring back a character like him who was featured mostly in cosmic stories.
Maybe. But you have to remember that she only knows 9 variations of history. And this timeline is full of changes she and Xavier and been making. So there is a lot of room for fuck ups and events she can’t predict happening.
That said, if I remember correctly, we never did find out why Moira and Xavier broke up. She just up and left, going back to Scotland, hooking up with Joseph. You could be right, and she knew the potential of their genetic mix, so she went to get preggers. And just didn’t know how much of a gigantic piece of shit Joseph was.
>looks like the mutants are IMMORTAL
But they already were.
Wait, fucking Synch is back? He's been dead for like 20 years.
If that's the case then they better bring back my boy Skin, too. I'm still mad about what Austen did to him.
Once he's dead, wouldn't his power stop working? Like, he dies and everyone suddenly remembers everything he did?
>But he died before and nobody remembered him
Yeah but he wasn't really dead, so...
Iceman
So how long till this clusterfuck is forgotten and ignored?
>Fabio Medina
>Goldballs
Top kek
Didn’t we all call this a long time ago? That they were cloning eachother using some sort of basic memory revival in a cloned body. That’s why sinister was important. All people in the future will be 1/3 human, 1/3 mutant, and 1/3 Robot/cyborg/machine
Fuck You cunt LCS are needed
Jean Grey
So, as soon as any of these characters die or get depowered or whatever, the whole thing is no longer doable. So this is just a plot device so they can do a bunch of big damn hero moments with sacrifices, but no stakes. Except this kinda fucks with the way Marvel has already shown the soul to work? Anyway. Have fun following these soulless copies around forever now!
We need more LCS’ and less shut ins
>I just want floppies in general to die for being a shitty product
>floppies
>shitty product
Top kek imagine living life like this
Absolutely based
No, same with gingers. A clone of a ginger is really bad.
Bringing in every mutant villain and saying they always get a free pass for their actions and forgiving some of them like Sinister and Apocalypse for attempting genocide is a good thing?
Pretty sure the immortality thing can come and go. Early on in the charts about krokoa there was a description of something that is basically krokoa cancer and its not expanded upon. I suppose keeping krokoa itself working will be part of the tension.
It's not like he's living inside his old corpse, Chamber's body seems to pretty much be fully functional besides the missing organs in his chest cavity. It's implied that he boned that pop star chick, so I'd assume his dick works too.
It's selling well, so that likely will take a long time.
>see the previous Moria life where Sinister betrayed them all
If the clones are only completed after the original dies they actually do carry the original's soul going by the recent Scarlet Spider stuff.
>Weird sex games incoming
Everyone gets a cuckoo body. Also which of the 5 is the murderous one? Esme? Did Xavier just reprogram her or what to fix it? Go back to an old copy of her mind and try again?
Wasn't there a character a few years back meant to represent the next step in evolution beyond mutants, him being the first member of a race called Homo Supreme, which were true immortals?
Would she need reprogramming or fixing if she'd never been subverted by Xorn/Magneto then flipped out on Kick in the first place?
t. person who never read PAD’s Scarlet Spider and pretends to know what he’s talking about
Is it something to do with Hope? She works best with 5 mutants?
We did, I feel those overreacting simply haven't been reading or want something to bitch because "it's complicated", even though until NOW the mutants despite having advanced powers, weren't as technologically advanced as the Inhumans or the... Wait for it...
ETERNALS, who literally have resurrection pods and it's how they have existed for many thousands of years.
Cuckoos didnt drive themselves crazy the one just went murderous I think.
This. Humans having mutant children instead of human children has always been the problem for the human species.
Two negatives make a positive, so a ginger clone does have a soul
>Oh no, my genetically superior children have super-powers and will thus be dominant and successful at life, HOW HORRIBLE
What parent thinks like that?
Good god imagine the absolute salt that would be produced by everybody except the most ardent hardline self inserting X-fag honestly at this point I've been waiting ten years for them to just say fuck it and heel turn it's been a long time coming
>mutant Hitler wants to just pretend there is no connection
She back to fucking her robot? I dont really keep up. Does she still have her imaginary kid and does he have his imaginary boyfriend?
This. I dare anybody look at this scene and say that they side with Sabretooth and not the criminal justice system.
It would be one thing if they were just asking for amnesty for all prior crimes, it happens a lot when former terrorist groups become legit, but they want all mutants to have diplomatic immunity and be completely immune to all laws ever.
How can they be immortal if they drop like flies lmao?
There was that time he was burned to a clean skeleton and re generated from the protected bone marrow somehow. Hes fucking immortal.
Finally. Vengeance will be brought against that flat scan tin can and his pretender whore.
Marvel Universe the soul reattaches or some shit. They hand wave it to be the same person.
No and no. But again, only an X-Men fag who doesn't read anything outside of that wouldn't know.
So this Hickman run is gonna end up being retconned pretty hard huh
Superpowers aren’t a guarantee of success, in fact they just make shit more complicated. How do you discipline or control a child with super strength having a temper tantrum?
So did they not tell the ones that went on a suicide mission this? Though I guess they're more motivated if they're not told they can just respawn.
They don't get their powers until they're teenagers though.
the entire point of this run is to "change the x men status quo" so in theory it can't be retconned
Hardly. You sound like one of these who can't keep up so you want everything simple in a way that makes it easier for you to bitch.
If they can make pod people why not just make an army of them instead of having one running around at all times
They're so deluded into thinking this is an actual resurrection they don't want to consider that.
>why not just make an army of them
Just imagine.
The HoXPoX book has been interesting but if the status quo is villainous pod people X-Men for a few years before it gets reverted (and don't kid yourself, it will be reverted) I'm probably not gonna keep up with the ongoing. It's great that you're enjoying it but I've lost interest barring something changing in the final issues.
How the fuck is every high school in the marvel U not a warzone?
Imagine every hormonal teenager then give .01% super powers.
Even something "mild" like Goldballs would fuck some shit up.
People had assumed that the resurrections were just a lazy way to bring back old dead C-list characters. Like Necrosa did, etc. Now that it's officially about literally sending people on suicide missions by having them job, and resurrecting them five minutes later, and nobody apparently blinks an eye within the X-men, it's a completely different matter.
>if the status quo is villainous pod people X-Men for a few years before it gets reverted
But... It isn't. This just gives them an out for all the times they'd want to resurrect people without having to handwave it in a shitty way just like every other time. The X-Men have been fucked narratively speaking because of this and other similar issues, in a way that simply makes you think "yeah, why get invested at all?"
But if it serves you of any consolation, it's likely this system will only work during this run because it has too many moving pieces. Like I said above, the Eternals already have a machine that respawns their people (and Eternals are power cosmic-fueled beings), the mutants have nothing like it so this is basically their stick and stones version that WILL most definitely fail them at some point. They didn't introduce the Technarchy infection for nothing, they didn't introduce the "below" place underneath Krakoa that has a subsystem for nothing, it has a purpose, we just don't know what yet.
Hickman is clearly showing that this isn't a good thing, it's just that X-fags are too dumb to realize this and just think, "based mutants flexing on flatscans!!!"
Literally just asking Franklin Richards to build a new mutant universe would solve a lot
>Now that it's officially about literally sending people on suicide missions by having them job, and resurrecting them five minutes later, and nobody apparently blinks an eye within the X-men, it's a completely different matter.
That's not exactly what happened though. The story is told out of sync: what we saw in the suicide mission came before the concept of the resurrection pods, and it came as a consequence of the "NO MORE" thing. That was Xavier saying he was fed up with the deaths and now he will bring them back in. So the first scene in HoX #1 is actually after HoX #4, why'd you think he brought back Jean and Scott first? The main ones who died in the raid?
This. You're not supposed to agree with what they're doing...
You can’t lie to me and say that NuXavier doesn’t look eerily similar to the Maker
This. The system exists so that storylines can be created where the xmen need to defend it against external as well as internal threats. Including the inevitable fuckups itll create. Its sort of like the Jedi in the prequels. Yes its obviously going to shit and that is on purpose.
t. Shut in
Go away badly dressed Brian Banner.
>not enjoying the flexing on flatscans even though its obviously going down in flames
Inevitable victory is boring. Dab as you go down in flames is the best way.
Lol
Proteus has limitations. Distance being one.
How long until the world's heroes will adopt a "no prisoners" approach when it comes to mutant criminals, since it's pretty much the only way to stop the likes of Sabretooth as long as the X-Men shield them from prosecution?
You do you, it'll be entertaining seeing new Sentinels dabbing on the mutants since the X-Men are incredibly incompetent.
>Diplomatic immunity!
>JUST BEEN REVOKED
>Character experiences personal growth during a mission
>Whoops he died
>Backup was from before his personal growth
They would just fucking merge it again a year later when they ran out of ideas. Remember the source of the problem is the writers.
The X-Men want none of Doom. And I'm guessing He'll is clogged with dead Scott Summers.
>Floppies are antiquated.
Pleb detected
How long till they notice Saber Tooth shows back up laughing his ass off after they killed him. The Mutants will probably keep the Villians on krokoa I hope.
>Sabertooth decides to go on a killing spree
>Magneto goes into one of his temper tantrums and slaughters a bunch of humans.
>Apocalypse decides to play his "muh survival of the strongest" games with non-mutant superheroes.
>Every time they're stopped or captured, an X-Men comes in and yells, "This mutant has amnesty, they're immune to your flatscan laws!"
The Avengers will have enough and yell, NO MORE!!!
>Hope
Thats ultimate universe.
>”we were using it wrong the whole time on purpose guys”
The X-Men are fucking hypocrites when it comes to Doom, he's the one who's responsible for the loss of their powers and they haven't done anything against him.
That's just how Xavier built it in this timeloop, not the prior ones.
How long until the X-Men try to put a hit on Wanda?
Come to think of it, how much do you want to be that Vulcan is conveniently only going to have memories up until just before his mission to Krakoa and thus won't be a genocidal madman anymore?
Is this timeloop confirmed to be "our" timeloop?
This, the X-Men and real world fans keeps blaming Wanda for Decimation even though Doom outright told everybody that it was all his design.
Also, Wanda depowering mutants while she was possessed is unforgivable, but Bishop murdering billions of people is not.
>character gets mysteriously murdered
>backup has no idea who did it
This storyline’s continuing after HoX and PoX and is getting involved with the rest of the MU, so it’s highly likely.
>implying that Jonathan "Doomwank" Hickman would ever blame genocide on his pet character
For the greatness of DoOoOOooOm, Wanda has to be the fall guy.
Sneed
Could be a good thought
>Latveria being right as usual
I was kind of expecting the resurrection pods to have something to do with the T-O virus, since that's how lots of people were resurrected by Bastion and Selene and how Hickman is making a big deal out of Douglock and the Phalanx.
Crisis on Infinite Jeans
>They rez Bishop
>Hope blows his brains out
In the future mutants machines and humans will be fused. That’s how they beat the sentinels and Nimrod.
So the human writers have decided that modern times are not worth writing about technology now shoulders the burden of villainy and dot dot dot what? Does Yea Forums become kill?
I SEE THAT HICKMAN IS STEPPING UP THE GAME
Was this post made by the Phalanx?
In their defense the Inhumans committed really hard to science and genetic research for thousands of years, and the Celestials built the Resurrection machine not the Eternals.
>Sentinels were the good guys the whole time
That version of Jackal was literally the devil. Even down to the red suit and the Jackal (Anubis) head. Best version of Jackal imo.
Tempus is love
This.
Disney didn't bring back Uncle Ben, but they haven't brought back Gwen either.
The evil cuckoo is here and alive so ya Xavier has to be playing with the minds.
>that filename
Kek.
>cloned gingers have souls
A scary thought
>ywn have Emma as a lawyer
Why even live
>Shouldn't Emma and/or Charles just fix it, then?
Sometimes they do. Remember that whole ''to me my xmen'' scene Scott had?
Bishop should be dead as well.
Eventually all those pod clones will become Sinister, anyway.
>character loses his virginity
>dies
>backup is a Virgin
>he's the one who's responsible for the loss of their powers and they haven't done anything against him.
More like mutie scum can’t do shit to based Doom
yes he should be killed but he is a mutant and an X-Men so he gets a free pass in the X-Men's book.
Not yet at least
Im hoping they at least keep the problem mutants restrained. Or maybe since there is a big list to be brought back we could put them in the back of the queue.
>Filename
Oh you bastard.
Souls carry over the sex count, don't worry.
>Im hoping they at least keep the problem mutants restrained.
Gotta have too or else one of the other Superhero teams or Giant Robots will be there to kick down the doors of that island they are on.
>Or maybe since there is a big list to be brought back we could put them in the back of the queue.
Couldn't see them doing that for someone like one of there bigger named Villains they have on that Island but for Bishop or Sabertooth yeah that could work.
Xavier always make sure to get current backups of the sex. Especially the first time he can for that person. He and Magneto have something like a movie night once a week where they rate it.
>>Implying people don't buy trades
Nice RPG, Hickman!
>Bishop should be dead as well.
hell no.
>Nobody is buying the book you shill.
My dude I guarantee you the House of X hardcover that will come out in December will be one, if not THE top seller of the month. You can screencap this if you don't believe me.
Hes shit user and no one does anything good with him anymore. And he had a pretty extreme arc during this hope shit to just pretend it didnt happen. Hell they could have used time to kill him and bring in a version that didnt do all that shit.
I can't wait for Xavier to bullshit his way out this by publicly executing Creed to show they will police their own, only to fucking revive his ass the same day.
>GUYS PLEASE BY THIS SHIT BOOK
>MY LCS WILL CLOSE DOWN IF YOU DON'T
he i sa good character, they shit on him to make Hope. The charcter was barely used after the AvX.
they made Bishop into a stereotype. the black man predator.
Following this same logic Emma shouldn't be a x-men or Beast
Creed is a serial murderer and rapist
Emma is interesting enough to save and I thought beast has been shit for at least a decade. Since the xmen internal war shit happened.
>Emma is interesting enough to save
Nah
she isn't. She is male fantasy
That generally what women are. Its just a version you dont like.
>That generally what women are. Its just a version you dont like.
i disagree
This is fucking awesome
But thats because i really like the idea of the Xmen as operating in a near identical manner to supervillains
Mutants hoarding immortality to themselves is extremely evil and awesome
>i disagree
That doesnt matter.
>Xavier has seen every single mutant naked
As a followup, i'm probably going to start reading xmen now, what happened to cyclops? I know based terrorist rightclops died due to inhuman disease, is he ressurected/is it a lame not radicalized cyclops or is rightclops still around?
go back to CBR, nobody cares
We dont know. This Cyclops seems to be less and more obedient. People in this thread are theorizing that Xavier resurrects the version he wants from the backups.
this is the first cape comic since Batman White Knight that is actually good.
Cool, thank you
Let LCS culture die. Kill it if you have to. It's all about boutique graphic novels and omnibuses for collectors you can order from your home now baby. And everything else you can just read for free online.
Why pay $5 for 20 pages (even as good as what Hickman is putting out in House of X) when I can read entire hundred chapter mangas or Jack Kirby's entire FF run online for free?
And I don't have to go in to a stinky comic shop full of awkward weirdos to do it.
He's more obedient but that might be because this Xavier was more radical from the start.
It's true. The sooner Local Comic Shops die and the Diamond Distribution monopoly dies, the sooner comics can become good again.
>That doesnt matter.
it matters, because your view is extremely sexist and narrow
Ya we dont know yet. The but there are other clues. The bad cuckoo sister is here and fine. Last time she was resurrected she took control of her sisters murdered one and stole someones body. So shes been fixed some how.
>it matters, because your view is extremely sexist and narrow
You are the one who is placing restrictions user. You are the one applying labels. I just wish you could be more tolerant.Maybe just try not being hateful?
>12 years and digital sales have not seen an increase. People have proven time and again they want a psyical copy over a digital each time, when given the option
They just order physical copies on ebay or Amazon now for a fraction of a price you can get from your LCS. I went to my LCS, a big successful store in a major city. They were selling D'n'D 5E players handbooks for $50! I asked the guy how do you get away with that when it's selling new on Amazon for $20 and he just dully said "it's suggested retail value is $50."
It's like the comic stores are trying to commit seppuku on purpose.
>Why pay $5 for 20 pages
I think this is the problem of comics, too much money for few pages and sometimes awful content.
Digital being the same price is a worse deal. that is why digital sales doesn't grow.
To be fair though, their immortality isn't really. More like a series.of clones. Ben Reillys up to here.
They are probably selling them on ebay for the lower price under a different name. They just want to hold onto the people willing to pay more in the store user.
The Diamond Monopoly stops the industry from growing and it's stopping books from expanding in to markets where customers will actually want to buy them (super markets, 7-11s, book stores)
Comic store culture encourages only certain types of shitty comics get made while other genres of comics don't get published (even though manga and European BD publish all genres besides just fighting heroes and are very successful)
>They are probably selling them on ebay for the lower price under a different name. They just want to hold onto the people willing to pay more in the store user.
such a stupid and cunty maneuver. No wonder it is going out of business now.
They know people gonna buy a overpriced item. If no one buy lCS will have to lower price or will go out of bussiness
It is an absolute joke too when you compare it to manga, which releases around 16-20 pages WEEKLY and publishes it online for free.
Why pay $5 for hardly any content when you can get endless manga or old comics online to read for free? Also, even series I do want to read, what's the point in paying $5 for single issues that will never be worth anything? It's better to just wait for the trade and pay $15 for a better product that isn't just cheap paper that bleeds ink all over your hands and staples.
Emma sold Sentinels to humans when she was a part of the Hellfire Club so they could kill more mutants, the X-Men should want her dead.
I guess they were wrong because that was 6 months ago when I last went in and they are going out of business now.
>she isn't. She is male fantasy
I know plenty of women, even feminists (actual ones, not the screeching retards you guys love to highlight) who like Emma a lot. I know her parading in white BDSM gear is meant for titillation, but she's way beyond that.
That was controlled opposition. Emma did that to create a false flag that she hoped would ultimately unite human kind.
They only have theirselves to blame for selling overpriced items. So I guess costumers didn't wanted to buy.
>Emma sold Sentinels to humans when she was a part of the Hellfire Club so they could kill more mutants, the X-Men should want her dead.
They retconned it to be Shaw doing it>You are the one who is placing restrictions user. You are the one applying labels. I just wish you could be more tolerant.Maybe just try not being hateful?
>>>
Hateful? I didn't even called Emma a whore :(
>I know plenty of women, even feminists (actual ones, not the screeching retards you guys love to highlight) who like Emma a lot. I know her parading in white BDSM gear is meant for titillation, but she's way beyond that.
yes lots of women and con people love emma frost, she is the ultimate domme queen bee power fantasy for girls. Jean Grey in turn is the ultimate submissive.
Any mention of Cyclops relationship status with Jean or Emma?
>It is an absolute joke too when you compare it to manga, which releases around 16-20 pages WEEKLY and publishes it online for free.
damn that is the ontent I crave.
FF was cancelled before it reached 3 issues. That is basically a risk investment
Also too decompressed stories and lots of splash pages.
That is ehy GN are a better option for books like FF
>Hateful? I didn't even called Emma a whore :(
You are trying to deny her right to exist. And you are trying to shame those who enjoy her character.
>I know plenty of women, even feminists (actual ones, not the screeching retards you guys love to highlight) who like Emma a lot. I know her parading in white BDSM gear is meant for titillation, but she's way beyond that.
women can be sexist too>Jean Grey in turn is the ultimate submissive.
LOL. What a lie;
this i sprobably more sexist garbage, where to dominate u have to be naked
There is a clue in the sinister issue of powers we just had. Theory is that hes with Jean. Also that Madelyn Pryor is around with a kid who he is actually married to somehow.
>You are trying to deny her right to exist. And you are trying to shame those who enjoy her character.
I'm not shaming anyone else.
I'm only used Emma, because other user said that he should be dead and out of x-men stories
>women can be sexist too
Of course, but I wasn't talking about the BDSM nonsense the other guy mentioned, it's more about Emma being the best X-Men teacher the academy has ever had, who looked after her students fiercely. That, and her origin story, where it was clear she was a bullied girl who took the reins when she had the chance.
If you wanna talk about her scantily clad appearance, be my guest... But don't erase all the things that make Emma who she is now simply because horny artists decided she should look that way.
Go back to CBR faggot. Nobody cares about your selfinsert/waifu
Nobody working on the modern Inhumans comics appeared to know any older Inhumans villains except Maximus and The Unspoken.
Having this conversation at length here isn't ideal (and I'm having lunch so I can't stop everything to reply properly), but manga is not a good example to replicate in the Western market because of the way they produce their material and their ethos. Plus a lot, and I mean A LOT of artists aren't even based in the US but are spread all over the globe, so the production costs are much different too, as well as the artist fees.
I completely agree that floppies at $5 and digital at the same price is crippling the market and it's keeping it stunted and unable to grow as it should. But putting everything online for free while having to pay royalties and keeping the expenses relative to the staff they hire is not feasible the way you propose.
>Go back to CBR faggot. Nobody cares about your selfinsert/waifu
fuck you
I have been visiting 4 chan for a long time. Stop being a whiny bitch>Nobody working on the modern Inhumans comics appeared to know any older Inhumans villains except Maximus and The Unspoken.
Inhumans are kinda of villains/anti-heroes theirselves
If the story slows down and deals with the potential clashes of ideology between Xavier, Magneto and Apocalypse, each with their own army of followers gathered onto one island, other mutant leaders like Cyclops, Emma, Shaw, Mystique, Exodus and Cable maybe wanting a seat at the table, the gathering of so many dangerously powerful, unstable or insane mutants in one place, Sinister's inevitable treachery, there's enough story material to run a book for years without leaving Krakoa or fighting humans and robots.
Potentially very interesting if other books pick up on every mutant considered a citizen of Krakoa even if they don't go there.
>Every time Whirlwind robs a bank, he's treated as acting on behalf of Krakoa
>Nekra rejoins the Lethal Legion and their battles with the Avengers are treated as a Krakoan proxy war
Cable is a whiny teenager now
Jean should just kill Emma
Actually story potential in the X-Men creating a 'good' clone of Vulcan from before he went bad, then finding the original has survived and now has even more reason to hate Xavier.
>That, and her origin story, where it was clear she was a bullied girl who took the reins when she had the chance.
She became a bully herslef.
for me all this story about liking to teach is a pure BS, she is a selfsih person why would she care to teach?
the character is full of contradiction so it can "work". But it doesn't hold scrutinity
RTS or MOBA?
Bastion has to be showing up eventually, and there's nothing to stop him bringing the others in that pic back again the same way.
>She became a bully herslef.
Well yes, she's an anti-villain, remember? That part of hers was never going away.
And why would she care to teach? I don't know, take it with Morrison,
>Hell they could have used time to kill him and bring in a version that didnt do all that shit.
No, that's only allowed for Cable because what everyone was asking for, a tryhard baby version of a gruff elderly war veteran running around in the present.
>Well yes, she's an anti-villain, remember? That part of hers was never going away.
>And why would she care to teach? I don't know, take it with Morrison,
Anti-hero, a anti-villain i sjust a hero. That i swhat makes her crappy character. she never really changed.
Morrison had nothing to do with her teaching
people act like there wasn't x-men comics before Morrison
teaching seems like a way to redeem the character
Originally, before any retcons about her being good all along, she was teaching to indoctrinate her own squad of henchmen, the Hellions.
>And isn't a big plot point in Iron Man that Tony is having an existential crisis that he isn't the "real" Tony because his mind is a copy and his body has no genetic material from the original Tony left?
Where I can read about this?
That looks nothing like being altruistic reasons
Slott's Iron Man. And it carries over from Bendis' Iron Man, where he (Bendis) sloppily had Tony's body disappear at the end of the arc, then reappear at some unknown location fully reconstituted from scratch. Slott's Iron Man has been dealing with the existential dilemma of that event (same as Rhodey, whom Tony dug out from his grave and also reconstituted).
Nothing about 1980s Emma was altruistic. The Hellfire Club didn't care about the welfare of other mutants, their debut story had Emma capture the X-Men with plans to cut them up to learn how their powers worked. Shaw manufacturing Sentinels was so he could protect himself from them, and make a profit.
Thank you, based user.
I really don’t think Hickman has any intention of using Bastion outside of retconning the hell out of him like Moira and the Phalanx, with what he’s doing with Nimrod. He could’ve even used the character in Karima’s role, but he didn’t.
Yeah guys, stop trying to imitate a successful, growing market and focus instead on trying to mildly stimulate a dying one with built in deficiencies!
Bastion is the merged Master Mold and Nimrod, the Alpha and Omega of the Sentinels. Even if he's not in HoXPoX anywhere, it would be incredibly odd if Hickman doesn't use him at some point.
It's not even the same work ethic and the way artists and writers work and collaborate is much more different. You can't imitate that market if you don't keep in mind how quickly it would tank the industry.
