Batman day is coming in.
Let's recommend to each other the best Batman story. Bonus points if we can find something BETTER than The Dark Knight Returns or the Killing Joke

It's still Year One for me.
No joke, White Knight is the best batbook in YEARS.
First for Long Halloween
Maybe if you're a retard who likes to suck dicks while also being dicked in the ass by multiple niggers and ducks.
You seem mad, but it's true.
There has not been a better Batman book in years.
>Killing Joke
Overrated cape-contrarian drivel.
Alan Moore is the original Rian Johnson.
I'll recommend my favorite one: the last arkham.
>the best Batman story.
Baby Doll.
for me it's Batman: The Cult.
What was the best Batman comic of 2010 then mr shitposter?
THE CULT, plebs
yes
>overrated = "I don't like this popular thing!"
The original Ra's stories are always my favorite. Kickass Adams art, great writing, and introduced some great characters to the Bat mythos.
Son of the Demon is legit
For me it's the whole of Morrison's run
Anyone got Knightfall?
White Knight fucking sucks tho, if they have the need to change Joker into some "woe is me :(" fucker who dindu nuffin and Batman into some extreme super violent asshole version then what's the fucking point?
The only good thing about that comic was how self aware it was about Harley changing to the point of becoming a different character.
Dark Prince Charming
For your consideration: Batman vs Predator
Really? I know edgelord newbies love TKJ and DKR, but Year One and Black Mirror are much stronger. Less influential, I'll grant you, but that doesn't mean they're worse.
My nigga
I love Knightfall, but it's so baggy and uneven. I'd go with the radio drama!
Pic Related is the greatest Batman story of all time
Grant Morrison's run is the greatest run on Batman of all time
Prove me wrong. Protip: you cannot
On top of the obvious classics:
-Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader (Batman 686 + 'Tec 853)
-To Kill a Legend ('Tec 500)
-Night of the Stalker + Deja Vu ('Tec 439 and Solo: Darwyn Cooke/Ego and Other Stories trade)
-Batman/Fudd
-Batman/Houdini
-Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham 1-3
I really like Dini's run on Detective Comics (~820 I think). For all the shit Snyder gets, Black Mirror is also really good ('Tec 871-881). Legends of the Dark Knight is maybe the single most consistently high quality Batman book too and has a lot of fun episodic stories that don't try to flesh out one big story arc. Off the top of my head 185-189 tell a fun Riddler story called "Riddle Me That".
Great Batman stories that don't actually include much Batman at all:
-Arkham Asylum: Living Hell (bonus points for it being one of the very few great Dan Slott comics)
-Gotham Central
It's not as good as Year One, but it's really underrated. I enjoyed it way more than Long Halloween.
How is Moench's run on Batman? Aparo?
I didn't say it was good, I just said it was better than everything else as of late.
No
Dini's run is amazing.
I don't really see a lot of crap for Black Mirror, and I'm a Snyder-critic. (For the record, Black Mirror is my #2 pick after Year One, and I do love Superheavy despite my hatred of what Snyder is actually saying in it).
Okay, prove me wrong.
Black Mirror specifically doesn't get a lot of hate (though I have seen some because certain people on Yea Forums cannot tolerate an author they dislike having any good storylines) but because Snyder gets so much criticism a prospective reader might be turned away from Black Mirror because of what they've heard about Snyder in general.
Then I disagree with you, Batman hasn't been so bad that White Knight is suddenly the best one.
Hell, Dark Prince Charming, which came out around the same time, for example, was better.
For starters, the story can't seem to know if Joker was just some guy in clown make-up playing pranks in Gotham or a criminal that actually killed people.
Then there's the fact that the story is trying to criticize Batman but it's using its own OC version of the character so it doesn't really work.
Okay, I forgot about that one DESU.
Your move.
Interesting. I would never want someone to avoid Black Mirror. It's gold.
Holy shit someone uploaded new better scans.
My move, MY MOVE!?
I'm sorry, but I've been BTFO. You win.
Better than someone like could come up with. 10/10 for both you and for being able to post something better instead of REEEEEEEEEEEing all over the floor.
I lose, you win.
Oh yeah, that happened
It was the first King issue I ever read. Boy oh boy was it a ride when I saw his mainline stuff.
One of my personal favorite Batman comics is Tec #726
I never read any of No Man's Land (or the stuff leading up to it. Cataclysm?) is it worth checking out as a whole or should I just look into a couple of the better stories?
...Keep going
MY MAN! This issue is really good. I read it because I read Scott Peterson (the editor)'s blog about it.
Whoops, forgot to actually respond.
NML is great. Cataclysm is a good leadin. I've not read Legacy or Contagion, and hear they're not as good. But those two definitely live up to the hype.
I don't want to turn this thread into a storytime, but you can go read the rest here: readcomiconline.to
I highly recommend that you do, it's one of the best looking bat books ever made. The story is nothing to sneeze at either.
Gotcha. I'll try to track down the trades then.
could have been an all-time classic if he didn't miss the ending
I enjoyed The Doom that Came to Gotham.
I read a couple issues here or there, I was about ten when it came out. But this issue stuck with me and is probably the quintessential Joker comic for me
Also if interested in storytiming it
Nice
Beat me to it. I really enjoyed that one.
Has to be Batman: Year One. Miller is great here and Mazzucchelli is one of my all time favorite artists. Also, Richond Lewis on colors is so good
I liked Planetary/Batman: Night on Earth and Batman: The Order of Beasts.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is better than both of those. Unless it's comics only.
Better than Dark Knight Returns? No.
I like Under The Red Hood. The cartoon movie, not the comic.
only right answer
For me its ten nights of the beast
Every Body Loves Ivy by the greatest Batman writer TOM KING
ENJOY BENDIS AFTER YOU WHINED ABOUT HIM, retards
Why is Batman fighting a gimp?
Because the gimp is a russian super assassin, also it looks less gimpy and shows less skin in the actual book
Makes sense.
The Honest Crook. Very simple little late Golden Age story that shows all facets of the character, from the generous and well meaning role model to the terrifying scourge of the underworld.
I think they will announce Batman game done by WB Montreal, is gonna the Courth of Owls storyline.
the art was gorgeous
>Black Mirror is stronger than anything
wtf u retard
Batman '66 is fun
I hope isn’t a Arkham Origins sequel but a reboot of the franchise, let it open for yearly sequels like AssCreed, give the Batfamily more protagonism and storylines close to the comics
Fuck yes it is, DKR is garbage.
>most underrated Batman writer
Anyone who doesn't appreciate ASBAR is a no-taste faggot.
the only Batman book I've read is Superman/Batman and its fun
Excellent meme
Planetary/Batman was a true tour de force. I love reading it
I'm having a reread atm, so I'll post some that I've added.

There's a lot more, but I hope some of you guys see something you've not read and check it out. Happy Batman day, lads!
I agree. I was so satisfied that if the final issue of Batman Inc said "THE END" I'd go "what a nice story" and be happy to never read another Batman story for the rest of my life, content with how it was all wrapped up.
I liked The Cult more than either of those. It was a neat glimpse into Batmans self-doubt, having been forced to kill a man against his will. It was Jason Todds finest moment before his original death. It also had badass horror art and a Bat-Monster Truck. What's not to love?
I really loved the art for the Batman/judge dredd crossovers
Judgement on Gotham, and Die Laughing are fun and Batman’s art should always look like that in my opinion, fits the aesthetic so well
Dark Prince Charming is better and came out at the same time, desu.
How is Year Two? Does the writer and artist try do a poor imitation of Miller and Co or is it'd own thing?
>Bonus points if we can find something BETTER than The Dark Knight Returns or the Killing Joke
Ego
Does its own thing
Good taste
Ego is spectacular, and I miss Cooke more every day.
too much exposition heavy and superficial Freudian aproch. Pick releted did Batman psych much better with Jungian aproach (it is only unhinge by not using doctor Strange as a main villain.)
As for Killing Joke I blame its fame for babies first introduction to nihilism and Morrison "dude, Batman kills Joker at the end" interpretation (which sucks, the only thing interesting about Batman killing Joker would be the afterfallw which the Killing Joke chikens out.) It is shame More didnt aproach his Batman like he did with his Superman farewell
to silver age.
How visibly muscular do you like your Batman? I lean more towards Quitely/Mazzuccheli lean but not defined

I love me some good Ivy story. It is travesty DC turned her into Harley fucktoy. Beside Hot house what others good story Ivy has?
The art was beautiful, but the story was mainly just ok.
I'll go against the grain and say that this story is really overrated. The early issues dealing with Bruce's addiction were really good, but after that when it just turns into him chasing after the bad guys it gets boring.
Holy shit has it been a year already?

MY MAN!!!
Honestly I like the 3 I AM books
The following issues were meh but it's far from being trash imo
My man!(or woman)
i remember hating damian superficially but then i began reading morrison's batman and robin in wich grayson takes over as bats, and boy is this run a fun, neatly drawn and written arc
I got tired of Return of the Joker even at a young age. DKR is a classic.
Objectively correct.
The shill in between didn't even wait a second to reply to his own thread. Pathetic. No (You) for him.
Why does 2010 matter? And whatever Morrison was putting out.
Facts
Easily one of the best company crossovers of the 90's.
>content with how it was all wrapped up
But the ending was the worst part
I think it was Batman and son or whatever story started the whole “imposter Batman” shit where joker gets shot in the face. What the FUCK was with that cringy ass 3D comic part with joker? I’m genuinely getting pissed off typing this because it was so jarring and out of place, it literally looked like shitty 3D futa art
I was legit angry seeing it in my trade. Serves no purpose at all.
Both the best BatCat story as well as an actual good Hush story.
It is probably the worst. Snyder's, King's and Tomasi's are all better. You could say it has the best art, but the writing is terrible.
Selina was the second hottest ass in the comic..you just know who topped it.
A serious house on serious earth
No man's land
Long Halloween
Knightfall
Year One
Anyone here like Alan Grant's run??
Paul Dini is the most overrated Batman writer. Templeton did better with Dini's universe.
Pic related is also the best Batman series of the 90s(Yes, better than LotDK too)
It's a fucking crime that he never finished it.
It was Snyder's run of its time. It is famous only because of Breyfogle and Burton.
The art is just as bad as the story
This comic is dog shit
Still good though
The fuck are you talking about? Yeah the art was legendary, but that doesn't diminish all the great stories from that era. Even just think of all the memorable characters that come from then.
>wants to make critique on batman
>makes fundamental changes to batmans character in order to achieve them
man that shit was ass
All Batwank is as cancerous as TDKR or TKJ
probably the best worst comic ever. absolutely a must-read.
