post your top 10 composers WITHOUT including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven (because it's obvious that atleast one of them is going to be in your top 10)

in no particular order:
mahler
bruckner
bartok
berg
brahms
schubert
wagner

don't care enough to list any more because calling them a "favorite composer" would be disingenuous.

was tchaikosvky really gay??

we may not have historical evidence, but we can listen to his music which does indeed prove he was a fag

>They certainly became physically very affectionate, as demonstrated in Tchaikovsky's 1876 letter to his brother Modest about Kotek: "When he caresses me with his hand, when he lies with his head inclined on my breast, and I run my hand through his hair and secretly kiss it ... passion rages within me with such unimaginable strength ... Yet I am far from the desire for a physical bond. I feel that if this happened, I would cool towards him. It would be unpleasant for me if this marvellous youth debased himself to copulation with an ageing and fat-bellied man."

liszt makes me want to fuckign kill myself

Classical music was written by privileged old dead white guys. That's why it all sounds the fucking same. These people had literally no creativity or life experiences. Snoorsville dictated by the restraints of Christianity. Beethoven was a literal incel. Yeah a bunch of puranical sexually repressed idiots jotting notes down on a piece of paper for rich people to pretend to be all up and cultured. Total trash. No bones to it. Give me the songs of the people. Give me the songs of daily life. I want to listen to someone that's lived and someone from the hood uneducated somehow produces better music than these pale freaks. I listened to about 500 hours of classical and baroque before giving it up. If you want to live in le bland squid world where squidward of all people got sick and play the same fucking clarinet noises all day, cool. Unless you're old as fuck, most young people listen to classical musical to be contrarian snobs or actually don't appreciate music at all and just use it as a cover for thinking these arbitrary symphonies and orchestral suites make the "white race" better but the same fucktards themselves can't even play an instrument. Classical music sucks which is why Yea Forums classical general is the /pol/ containment general of this board. You need spice and flavor in your life and these elements come from experience, not a vacuum. Give me infidelity. Give me the underdogs. Give me someone who was persecuted for being gay. Give me a disadvantaged guy society had written off because of the color of his skin. Basically that is where talent lays because it's life itself and life is art baby. Even the dumbest pop songs have something classical lacks. And that is being genuine

And a pasta was born. Thanks for this epic b8.

I thought this was a pasta already?

Oh. You're right. I should have googled it first.

>sexually repressed
lol

Best bros in classical.

>One day at Wagner’s Villa Wahnfried, Liszt -- who was probably the greatest pianist that ever lived -- was playing the piano. Wagner suddenly got on his hands and knees, crawled up to the piano and said “Franz, to you people should come only on all fours.” When asked about his own ridiculously clumsy fingering at the piano, Wagner would reply: “I play a lot better than Berlioz!” (who could not play at all).

I know HIP is basically the trash bin that untalented and uncreative musicians get thrown into when they have no talent to play in non-HIP contexts but I really love listening to them even if some could consider it to be soulless

Schoenberg ruined music. Look at the state of classical music the year he died.

While Wagner saved Europe from musical stagnation, and that includes being the most important influence on Schoenberg.

There are good HIP musicians, and bad ones. Just the same as non-HIP.

Contentions regarding HIPsters isn't really about quality of playing anymore, but more about interpretive disagreements accompanied by arrogant statements of composer intent. But then you have plenty if HIPsters who just prefer the sound of historical instruments, which I can sympathize with sometimes. Gut strings on a classic double bass for instance sounds fucking awesome.

sorry not as good as schonberg's third string quartet.

Schoenberg was too obscure and irrelevant in his time to ruin anything.

I figured out I like dance music.
