how is it so unmistakably late-90s yet is still so timeless?
How is it so unmistakably late-90s yet is still so timeless?
We'll see when the new series comes out if her attitude really is timeless
>timeless
find a teenager now who knows what half of this sentence means
You don't need to know exact terms in order to understand something, retard
I'm a zoomer+Daria fan, and I can explain this
>if he makes you join his cult (self-explanatory, but the context is this weird guy is obsessed with the past), can I have your web page software (obviously modern tech)
>He doesn't belong to a cult, and the shrink-wrap never comes off that software (a policy still in place, she bought something and is going to return it unwrapped). Soon as I get it, I'm exchanging it for Cannibal Fragfest on CD-ROM (Daria bought computer software that will actually let her do something productive, but she has already made up her mind to return it in exchange for a trashy video game)
Is this your best example of the show becoming dated? You could show that to someone in distant past under the assumption the "computer" is future technology and they'd get it
>having some kind of personal vendetta against a cartoon character
because the late 90's never ended and the apocalypse is a syndicated nightmare. We are the reruns, forever, until the lights go out.
No, I'm just saying I don't know how they're going to sell Daria to modern SJW audiences
meh, they could either make her and jane lesbos or have her be a tranny. do agree that most “eyeliner to slay the patriarchy” libfems wouldnt react kindly to the show portraying stereotypically feminine girls as dumb.
Comedy can't be PC. It can be progressive, or leftist, or conservative or traditionalist, but for comedy to be politically correct is antithetical to what it's there for. Encyclopedias and textbooks are supposed to be politically correct. Comedy exists as a benign invasion of safety and privacy. Daria isn't PC and would have to change a lot to fit this PC culture, but PC isn't punk, and PC isn't funny, and until SJW's understand that we're just not going to see good SJW comedy.
Like, Dave Chapelle is a progressive person. He's always been. He's always been pro black rights and he's always said some fucked up shit and then backed himself up and made it less horrible. It's completely ridiculous that SJW's realized they don't have to be funny if they can be smug and they've banded together to change comedy.
I mean the meat of the show, retards. Like yeah, landlines and cds are dated but the actual humor and the story remains pretty intact. A lot of other teen media from the 90s is a total cringe fest now.
and here we see the lost /pol/tard. look as it struggles to perform conventional social etiquette.
Grow a brain before you say words
like clockwork.
>implying it wasnt already feminist swill
Hi. I'm Daria. Go to hell.
uh ok?
I want to see Daria getting raped because I want to know how she would react.
The Joke
Your head
man that is a trip back in time
I remember CD-rom games
What's a "game"?
It's something people did for fun before microtransactions were invented.
Great point; hit the nail on the head.
You are a jackass.
Go on.
>gen x ironic detachment is timeless
What are you implying? That a teenager wouldn't know what CD-ROM, web page, software, cult, or shrink-wrap is?
Kids grow up around technology, we had to learn it as it was being made. Teens are probably more technologically savvy than most adults. Shit, there are fucking teens who are able to manipulate social media so effectively, they have millions of followers by the time they hit 17.
Precisely because of that. It doesn't try to be timeless so when you watch it now it feels like a period piece, which feels less dated than when you make something that could be happening in any time period but has specific slang from the time period it was made in.
>“eyeliner to slay the patriarchy” libfems
Those were already a thing *before* the 90s, so that's not much of an issue.
I mean yeah. Sure the mainstream culture is the opposite of that, but that was mostly true back then, there's a reason Daria and her friends are portrayed as outcasts.
BEGONE TERF
Yeah, it's safe to say Daria ROCKS!
What kind of Fortnite dances did you guys even have in the 90s?
