Why is this the cutest shit I've ever seen
Love it, such a classic fairy tale
idk
Top tier Disney movie.
This is just making me depressed. Princess designs aren't what they used to be.
Same.
with these colors she looks like eilonwy
I just rewatched it a few weeks ago and the only thing I really liked were Maleficent and the backgrounds. Everything else was just kind of there.
I think I have this on my drive, anyone want any webms from it?
Enjoyable film, I personally don't mind rotoscoping at all so really like the animation too.
Fucking love those colours. Style wise it's the most underrated classic Disney film.
Its kinda Disney's symbol of the classic era
Shrek was a horrible jew's "Fuck you" to it not even being anti-semetic Katzenberg was a monster who was even rude to Henson
Style can't save a bland script.
God I love her hair
But the best song in the Disney collection can
Once Upon a Dream blows everything out of the water
Scumps was also good
>Ruins your classical Italian/French fairytale, Russian Ballet, American Masterpiece with shoehorned feminism
Ew let's not even mention this abomination
I love Phillip as a dark knight
I want a sword fighting Aurora
Maleficent was the most bad-ass movie dragon ever.
lightning can't strike twice
sadly the guy who designed many of the film's best character designs was an alcoholic and didn't have a happy life.
it's almost an illustrated storybook more than a film
>blaming literally anything else for disney wanting live action quickbucks
next youll be whining about the black mermaids.
I like to imagine Philip and Aurora truly saw each others in dreams for years. Even if by morning, everything was fuzzy, at night they got to walk, dance and fall in love with each others.
Young prince Phillip staring in My Fiancee Can't Be This Cute
You cant say it wasn't apart of the movie, nor can you deny it was a flaming pile of dogshit
This are too cute
my heart hurts
For a girl raised by fairies poorly pretending to be humans, they don't have much in the way of her perception of the world being different normal.
I drew this the other week. She's my favorite princess.
So, we can all agree purple eyes Aurora is best Aurora, right?
Ditto.
That's a thing? I want to see.
Aurora cosplaying as another Disney character? I want to draw this. Give ideas.
Perfection.
Merlin.
I don't know if they do it anymore but they used to give her purple eyes in merchandising stuffs. There's also that one scene in the movie where they colored it kind of blue/purpleish.
Most obvious one would be Eilonwy but let's try something else, The queen from The Cookie Carnival (1935)
It makes her eyes opposite to Maleficent, who has yellow eyes. Good detail.
Took a picture of this doll I got this year. They seem fairly purple still. Wow, I never knew that. I would've included that in my drawing. Purple is top tier and unique compared to blue.
I always thought giving her purple eyes instead of blue made her stand out against Cinderella. Especially since they both used to wear blue at first.
very cute user, that owl is adorable
maid marian? I feel like her outfit would fit with her style
I really want to get one of Aurora. I just don't know which variant.
Was she really that much younger than him?
Yep' not sure how old he was suppossed to be, but remember he looked like that when Aurora was still a baby not born that long ago.
Well, I suppose it all evens out after 18 anyways.
Eh, at least Phillip looks young! Unlike some other guy that also got with a 16 years old.
Merryweather on suicide watch
Just sleep and when you wake up , u got good looking prince as your husband and live happily ever after.
This shit logic if thinking is unacceptable.
He was 21 she was 16
How long has he been managing the Chipmunks music career?
It's been 61 years, Eric won't let them die. Save them.
Fuck that is a good Artstyle
The movie often looks like a painting, I'd say it's timeless
Not to be a degenerate, but her feet are adorable
Save it for Cinderella
Imagine meeting your parents for the 1rst time in 16 years, probably thinking they had died when you were just a toddler. You always wondered what they were like and how did they die but your aunts only gave you vague answers, you always thought it was from the hurt of losing them but now, now you realize it wasn't the case. Imagine meeting your little girl but she's not so little anymore, you had almost forgotten what her eyes looked like, or maybe you did forget? Afterall, you were able to spend so little time with her before... Before it happened. You've only imagined this situation happening in your dreams and now that it's really happening, you don't know what to do.
I fricking love Aurora. I dream at night of Aurora, I daydream of Aurora, I play games with avatars looking like Aurora. I want Aurora to be happy.
I'm sure she appreciates that
Sleeping beauty live action will feature a black woman.
It already happened.
I mean, it's not exactly that but...
I love her hair curls but damn those are some weird-ass bangs
Is she the bustiest Disney princess?
The pink or blue argument is my favourite part
Some highly stylised 50's bangs.
I've always wondered why she has so much pink dress merchandise. I've always liked blue but maybe that's because of the christmas ornament.
She's cute in blue
Before the 1990s, Aurora was usually portrayed in blue. Since Cinderella in marketing also has a blue dress they didn't want them to be too matchy.
Blue is the superior color
Why the other fairy didn't change the dress color to?
She was busy baking , she was also less petty than the other two
Green is ugly for a dress and an islamic color
Tiana is sad
But Ariel wears pink too.
She is more easygoing
That's the only Aurora, user.
Go write some Sleeping Beauty fics, user. There is a severe lack of them.
I've always thought that if you were going to make her "useful" in a more "empowering" way, you wouldn't give her a sword. Instead, you'd make her a sorceress. It's not out of the question that the fairies could have taught her magic, if you assume she had the aptitude.
She looks great in green, too.
What the-...
Ariel is always switching between mermaid and human, is a red head and is now wearing turquoise
Honestly, my writing is shit, I'm only able to do short things that aren't even that great.
>Imagine meeting your parents for the 1rst time in 16 years
Rapunzel's life is even kind of worse from my opinion, she spent 18 years being raised by a narcissistic woman, who never actually cared for her as a person, hell, she first thing she do in the movie is ask her to sing to get her fix of youth. You can argue Aurora spent 16 years thinking the fairies were her aunts, but at least, they loved her. Gothel kept putting down Rapunzel's ego as "jokes" and tried to give her a fear of the world. Also parentwise, Aurora's parents were separated from their daughter too, yes, but it was by choice and they knew she was with the fairies, Rapunzel's? For all they knew, she could have been dead or worse.
Also Rapunzel thought her own captor was her mother so she had to lose a mother in order to gain her own parents who were strangers to her. At least Aurora thought she was an orphan with kind aunts. Rapunzel's story is brutal.
That same "mother" whom she saw die right infront of her eyes.
Still got an easier happy ending than the original tale.
youtube.com
>this was almost maleficent
i can say you are stupid if you think feminists had any input in that film
I love how...(shit I don't even know what to call this style, art deco?)...this style is.
Really nice. Burning all the spinning wheel in the kingdom probably had a pretty big impact on the cotton industry and clothes in general. Probably had to start importing a lot of stuffs they used to be able to make.
it's the style of the 50s', it's what cartoons like fairly odd parents try to rip off
a good book for it is 'cartoon modern' although its out of print i think.
Rapunzel was dead though. She is a space rock enhanced plant animating a body.
Definitely worse. Lacks her enigmatic flavor of final version and the fairy rivalry which seems to escalate her death curse.
>Aurora with Rapunzel's length of hair.
Still better than the one with the vulture.
I want to talk more about how "Sofia the First" takes place in a future where Cinderella is dead and the 3 fairies have moved on to teach a school in the neighboring kingdom of Enchancia.
The "Amulet of Avalor" (containing the imprisoned spirit of Princess Elena) allows Sofia to contact the ghost of Aurora in "Holiday in Enchancia" and unlike every other princess that Sofia has met, Aurora is the only one who does not sing.
Why is that?
Also when the 3 fairies are working for Yensid in Kingdom Hearts 2, would that be before or after their working for the Enchancian monarchy in Sofia the First?
What brings ruin to every kingdom these fairies call home?
Trying to find consistency in Disney lore tend to get pretty messy. Not that Sofia THe First is bad show on that aspect, no, actually it's pretty great on that.
It's very rude to post something like that not not post either the rest of it or the source.
I'd love to have more of the illustrated pages, it looks cute.
So much for having a normal thread.
how is cindy dead? she can get summoned by sofia's amulet cant she?
Snow white didn't sing either.
You can tell he longed for a woman like aurora.
Yeah but specifically the way it's pretty angular but also has very flowing curves? I don't know how to describe it.
I got so mad after seeing this that I must have blocked it out from my mind, that a few months later I said
>I really hope Sleeping Beauty doesn't get a live action movie
here and it got a bunch of awkward 'user, I..." replies.
straights against curves?
I suppose...although there's a very certain feel to Sleeping Beauty.
You did a good job user. She looks sweet. Keep at it man.
Sometimes, I'd like to forget it too.
I could definitely see that. Hell, if they went with the route of an alternate story, we could have seen her helping Philip during the battle with spells and buffs.
there's a sequel coming out soon.
Shouldn't she be "dead" asleep, though?
W-who's scratching Beast's ass?
by process of elimination i think that's cinderella's guy
In the original German version, she was more or less comatose. But if they wanted to focus on the action, they could've made her a Sorceress. Since the sequel is coming out and Maleficent is more or less her Mama, I'm hoping she's picked up a few spells.
there's an edgy tween novel out, where she has a bunch of mindscape powers while she's asleep.
Nah, Cinderella's prince is the one in red with the smug face. Snow White's prince maybe? I almost forgot that guy existed.
everyone forgets prince bucket head
Thank you, I tried making the owl look plushy.
Thanks a lot, I'll definitely keep at it!
Some people says that Snow White is bland but at least, she get to exist outside of her love interest. That dude only ever show up when Snow White is there, sing a love song/ or kiss her. Quite shame they deleted the other scenes with him.
Who's the most handy? Snow white, Aurora or Cinderella?
Without access to their resources? Cinderella
But Aurora is best girl
>Even after Aurora wakes up, the ban on spinning wheels is never lifted because she got mad PTSD from it.
Cinderella literally made her own ball gown out of scraps. She is the Batman or the Dr. Strange of the Disney princesses, she can beat anyone if she has time to prepare.
Fricking Cinderella 3, man. Other princesses got nothing on her.
I would assume that if you sent Aurora on an adventure, it would be in a sequel movie or series after the initial story of Sleeping Beauty. Maybe Maleficent gets spat back up from Hell and wants revenge. Maybe some new enemy emerges that was unleashed by Maleficent. Regardless, whatever you would do to Aurora, you'd do in a sequel story.
Modern Disney princes don't have the balls to kiss unconscious girls. So don't shit talk my boi here.
All of them
To kiss corpses. She was in a coffin. Everybody tought she was dead, he had the balls to kiss a corpse and the germs it could have contained.
Anything for true love
This. Beautiful film, Swiss cheese story.
It's not often you get a film where every frame is gallery-worthy art. Only other films that come to mind are Tangled & Marie Antoinette.
I remember reading on some official Disney site that Aurora had brown eyes until she was woken up by Philip & for the rest of the film had blue eyes.
I guess violet eyes are a compromise. They go with either dress color.
This is precisely why Sleeping Beauty deserves a sequel, the story is trash but the art, animation, and the personalities of the characters are all great. I'd love to hang out more in the world of the film.
Now that I think about it, Sleeping Beauty never got the treatment that Cinderella got, with its two direct-to-video sequels. Why was Sleeping Beauty spared from Eisner's sequelitis?
Maybe Cinderella's merchandise sold more.
My cousin's favorite princess is Aurora. Since the last time we see the dress before the book closes is pink, she says Pink won
Really, she's the only princess that wears Pink. I mean, Cinderella's mouse dress was pink, but only for a few minutes. Ariel briefly wore pink, but that was an abomination. Belle wore a pink ensemble during the winter, but it wasn't her main dress. Putting Aurora in pink distinguished her in the original princess lineup.
We really still don't have a pink Disney Princess. Closest we got was Charlotte, but she wasn't in the cut. A Hispanic princess would look great in pink with their warm skin tone.
That scene in the collage is from BEFORE she goes to the castle, though.
>tfw Elena is dressed in red
Wait they put Shang on twice but no Hans? Rude.
Prince Florian from Snow White.
Picture probably was bigger but got recut into what it is. The two shangs is the editor's fault.
It's not bad, but she's not a Disney Princess.
I was thinking about how Sleeping Beauty could have spared being separated from her parents. I wonder why they didn't consider cutting off her hands so she has no fingers to prick. As a princess, she wouldn't have to raise a hand, so she wouldn't need them anyway.
Probably didn't want their child to be know as the Handless Princess.
Also if the fairies could have turned her into a flower like they proposed to circumnavigate the curse, why didn't they consider turning Aurora into a seal or a bird or a snake?
>Make the crown princess live as a snake until she's 16
>turn her back into a human
>she's flopping around on the floor
Pretty sure Maleficent, the mistress of all evil, would not be above clubbing baby seals.
why do i need some to draw this now
Here is your sequel, bro
Despite her title Maleficent never felt quite as evil as certain other Disney villains.
She attempts to kill one woman after warning everyone 16 years in advance, and then fights Prince Philip (who has the help of THREE fairies).
She is pretty fair all things considered.
>fuck this shit turn me back
>snake wearing a little crown
>phillip marries a snake
>all hail queen snake
Wasn't Maleficent's curse that Aurora would prick her finger BEFORE her 16th birthday? So basically "SHE COULD DIE ANYDAY HAHAHAHA"
>Before the sun set on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die!
Yeah. I mean, she really could have just transformed into a dragon at Aurora's Christening & killed everyone, but fuck logic.
I guess what really makes Maleficent evil is how she curses Aurora to die in sixteen years. She essentially says Aurora will grow up to be a kind, beautiful lady you will all love & then she dies at the start of her adulthood. It's like Maleficent is cancer.
The honeymoon is going to be an interesting one, that's for sure.
I don't know why but this scares me in ways I can't begin to describe.
"Philip Gets a Colonoscopy"
>wir2 post
she's working within old-timey fair folk rules of engagment. they were rude, so she's rude back. trashing an entire castle would likely be considered escalating the matter
I get freaked out at any (attempted) on-model Disney fanart, erotic or otherwise.
She was already causing shit by showing up without invitation. If she had the gut to curse a baby, what's stopping her from just going batshit in the castle & leaving?
it's rude to not invite someone even if they are obviously evil
I've only seen snippets of this shit and it's weird as hell even with context.
Philip's the one laying the eggs.
Naveen and Aladdin look like they're flirting.
She may be a princess, but she's our queen
She is the Mistress of All Evil because that is her domain. Commands things like crop killing frosts and various grunts.
I want to FUCK that dragon!
Yes.
that nose tho
what'swrong with the nose?
If she was invited, would you still get her cursing Aurora the same way, or would she give cool but scary witch powers to one-up the other fairies?
She'd give an evil present.
Shit, now I want this.
maybe cool powers that would end up gaining malificent more power in the long run
what would the third fairy gift have been if it hadn't been used up unfucking malificents curse?
It's $8.60 on Amazon. Don't let dreams stay dreams, user.
If you were to make a sequel to the movie, would you make Philip's mother an ogre? and would you use it as a "don't judge a book by it's cover" type of story or would you make her into a "yep, I'll eat my grandchildren" type of woman?
But I don't have a baby princess to give it to
Not even the cute younger version?
Crash a party
>In other news, an American terrorist raised the celebration of the royal birth. He was dressed as the character Maleficent from the Disney movie of the same name and tried to force a recorder on the newly born princess. His intent is unknown at this time.
The first two gifts were beauty and a good singing voice, right? What would logically be included with those two?
Grace? Kindness? A perfect understandly of the geological history of Faes and Humans?
Wings
Kickboxing mastery
Early HRE Germans probably didn't know better and kissing a corpse is actually a thing as a fairwell
No. Don't ruin my wholesome fairy tale with this.
Even if the orginal story isn't exactly wholesome either
He probably has a necro fetish.
Original is worse because 16 year old Princess wakes up with a 9 month belly and two babies.
Aurora is CUTE.
Aurora really doesn't have a personality in the film other than "generic nice young lady." If you were to write a new story with her, what sorts of traits would you give her?
Also, does she display any kind of distinctive personality in Wreck It Ralph 2? I never saw it.
She only had one line in part 2. I cri.
>mfw mooks in this thread hating on sleeping beauty's story
It's just not very engaging. It's good for a fairy tale, but you watch the movie mostly for the art and animation. Aurora basically has no growth and development as a character, and Philip isn't much better. Fuck, the most interesting characters in the movie are the four fairies.
Funny enough, I watch for the music. Even if it's not original to the movie.
youtube.com
youtube.com
I feel that's the point. It's a fairy tale told from the point of view of the three good fairies and Maleficent. If you want to boil it down, Phillip and Aurora are the secondary characters, chess pieces in a game between the good and evil fairies.
Fairy tales were always barebones when it came to story and character development because they were often very short, and I'm alright with that here. It's a fairy tale brought to animated life, and the three fairies help with pushing the story along, helping the heroes, acting as a sort of commentary on these classic stories without any of the contempt most people associate with it.
I guess I find myself wanting more with Aurora. If you compare her to Cinderella, Cindy is much more pointedly the main character of her movie, and she has far more agency and development. She's even the one who saves the day, in the end. Aurora feels so boring compared to her.
That's true, but again I feel it's intentional. Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are characters we're with for almost the entire film. Outside of a few scenes, Phillip and Aurora are almost in the background. The fairies have the most lines and it begins and ends with them. They're clearly the characters you're supposed to empathize with, while the prince and princess are more of an 'ideal'.
Maybe Aurora could help Philip with a astral projection? She's not actually there but they meet and get to know each other. And in the end they meet for real.
Definitely a possibility. I admit to being a fan, though, of a sequel story. Or, better yet, an alternate ending to the movie that segues into a new story. Let's say that Philip wakes Aurora with his kiss, but the kingdom doesn't wake from its sleep, and it becomes a place of darkness and evil. So, now, Aurora and Philip have to adventure on their own and try to save the land. It could be fun, too, because they've only barely gotten to know each other, so the new adventure could also be a case where their relationship grows and blossoms over the course of the story.
I was going to say that would be a really cute story if they were kids, but then I realized that's just The Legend of Zelda.
wait wut
Well Zelda has stuck around for a reason, its bare-bones premise can be done so many ways and at its core it's always a fun adventure.
I confess I'd also love a sequel purely because I want Aurora and Maleficent to really confront each other. I mean, considering Mally seems hell-bent on completely ruining her life, and ENDING it, they barely interact. It bugs me, as a storyteller myself. It doesn't help that this is rectified in the Maleficent movie in the worst possible way.
The way her hair moves. Amazing.
I kinda like that they don't interact much. It just amplifies how petty Maleficent is. If she had received an invitation to a child's unveiling, she'd probably not give a shit and would forget about it in a week. But snub her and she comes down to make an example out of anyone foolish enough to get in her way.
Ultimately, this callous and petty act lead to her demise because her ego just wouldn't let something so small and insignificant go.
This could be another 'When keeping it real goes wrong" sketch.
Her personality is subtle but it is there. She comes off as dreamy, romantic, a bit playful, and imaginative.
>does she display any kind of distinctive personality in Wreck It Ralph 2
She's pretty much just a nap joke.
Can't beat Tchaikovsky.
Since I never watched it, it doesn't exist.
She's also selfless. After being told she won't be able to see Philip again, she could've ran away from her real life to meet him again. Instead, she goes with the fairies to the castle. She knows now that she has a responsibility to be there for her family and subjects who haven't seen her in 16 years. She's miserable, but she's responsible.
I want a sexy air-head bimbo Aurora.
I have this powerful instinct that she's a bit of a bitch. I don't know why. Something about her character design. If there were ever a Disney Princess High School AU, I feel certain that Aurora would be the alpha bitch head cheerleader.
Beautiful. Thank you.
Right? She finds out her whole life has been a lie and now she has to give up the one connection she's managed to make after a lifetime of isolation and she does so dutifully. At sixteen. What a champ.
Then you agree? We should make her walk the plank.
Her daughter is exactly like that in the Descendants franchise.
Here eyes switch back and forth in the movie. Sometimes they are purple. Sometimes they aren't. What gives? Seem like all the merch gives her purple eyes. This is a little unsettling and borderline creepy. Has Disney ever responded to why this is?
Aurora dressed like Pinocchio?
What?
I don't know. I could vividly see her wearing that outfit.
What if Aurora was really a peasant? There is no Maleficent, just three lonely fairies who want a child so they make Aurora like Thumbelina (meaning she's not a magical illusion that can fade, she was just born with the help of magic).
Phillip remains a Prince and they meet the same way but his father refuses to let a filthy peasant marry his son.
How do you end the story, Yea Forums? It still has to be suitable for children.
The classic fairy tale was pretty rapey
This is such an interesting premise that I wish I could do a synopsis justice to this setup.
Which goes terribly with red hair.
I feel like a magic nature golem conjured up by three fae, and who lives isolated in the woods away from the rest of the feudal society, with no farmland to tend to or really any manual labor at all, is stretching the definition of peasant
the king realises she is loved by all the fairies, and marrying her to his son would create a powerful alliance with the bloodthirsty fae
The Ballet had the weird 100 year time skip. Aurora, along with the rest of the kingdom, falls asleep for a century, until the Prince and Aurora are brought together by the Lilac fairy in a dream, and they fall in love. He finds the kingdom, isolated by Vines and still asleep, but breaks the spell by murdering Carabosse (Maleficent). The whole kingdom wakes up and presumably just reintegrates back into it's normal geopolitical place, and it's neighboring kingdoms just accept that this missing kingdom from four generations ago is now back
And also, presumably they get steamrolled in the next armed conflict since their weapons and technology are a century out of date
I’m glad I didn’t miss this thread. I love Aurora so much. It’s my favorite Disney movie and I wish I could have a girl like her someday. Maybe when I die.
Thought you could use these.
Well since those are good stats for a Bard, she should have high dexterity and speed to include a Rogue subclass. Her singing AOE can enchant most creatures up to 30 meters so she doesn’t need any instruments to boost the effect.
Thank you. Coincidentally I’m watching Superman Returns at the same time because I needed some optimism and idealism for a change
That's great. Keep your spirits up, user. You'll find your Princess Aurora.
so? become a god-tier recorder virtuoso and blow everyone's minds.
Now that you mention...now I know why was she the first Princess I really liked just by looking at her. She does look like someone who may not be a bitch but looks down on people. I love it.
I Just found out about it a few days ago. Why? I haven't the slightest fucking iota.
Good job for trying but it actually looks like shit. Learn them fundamentals, boy.
>TFW no Maui Bro to hang out and eat pizza Play Vidya and hit the beach with.
This happens with the Three Good Fairies, too. The Fairies sometimes sport normal, black cartoon eye dots. Then in the same shot, they sport detailed, colored eyes ((Merryweather has blue eyes while Flora and Fauna have brown eyes). The movie was in productionhell for ever and it's probably a result of new or different people coloring/design changes that happened during production. Same thing happened in The Black Cauldron with Taram's clothes.
What is the sauce on this?
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales ; Follow Your Dreams. Aurora's parents and Philip leave her alone to rule the kingdom for a little while.
Thanks
>tfw a kingdom of Kindness wasn't released.
It was suppossed to have a story with Aurora planning Philip's birthday but then the fairies got in on her plan and would have started to control everything and Aurora had to learn to tell them "no". We only got snippets of the whole thing.
youtube.com
aurora is a fae pact warlock
consider yourself lucky bro, i watched it in the cinema it was just bland more than offensive really
But why does it exist if the first one "Told" a bastardized version of the original Disney version. This shit is basically a Straight to DVD Sequel.
disney likes money is the answer to all these grim questions
But didn't people hate the first movie? Or did fangirls gush over it?
Made enough money for a sequel
people only watched it because angelina jolie is hot.
thanks doc
Was this the movie that kickstarted purple = darkness?
Grimhilde already was dressed in purple.
Did Aurora ever grow up to be taller? Her parents were both pretty tall plus she was only 16.
originally mal's outfit was red instead
god damn I love the love song
why did they bog down best fairy with those other two hanger-ons?
Because someone has to try and stop her from starting shits (not that it worked).
now imagine that redone in calarts
no
Why did they even inclube Philip in the Maleficent movie if it was to just make him as useless as possible? WHY DID THEY KILL OFF AURORA'S MOTHER?!
21 to 16 isn't that bad, they could have made him much older unapologetically and most people wouldn't bat an eye.
Cuz subversion is so hot right now. Anything pure/traditional/old must be changed. Villains are misunderstood victims, everything is grey, it's a clown world HONK HONK
