I mean it would stand to reason that considering they operate on a 'wage war 24/7 all the year long' philosophy, they probably have given basic military equipment to everyone. The only reason table drones don't use it against Irkens who outrank them is because everyone else in the room would shoot them if they did.

Let me explain what a Patasyte is.
it starts it's life as a spore, this spore "hatches" into a speedy drill worm slug thing that goes on to infest a host through their ears, nose, mouth or occasionally by burrowing into the victim's skin, in an attempt to consume the host's head (Killing the original host's personality) and replace it with Parasite matter, this is what allows them to unfold their heads and turn hair, and in the case of Irkens Antenna, into blades.
They are then fueled by a single minded desire to eat the flesh of the species they infected (A Parasite infected dog will eat other dogs for example) as time goes on they get smarter, subverting power structures and even getting unifected members of the species they've infected to join them.
They're capable of making blades that slice through steel like butter, moving faster than the eye can see, and hardening themselves to ridiculous levels.
Multiple Parasites can infest a single host, but they have to be in perfect sync or they literally fall apart as they fight for control and as a whole parasites are nearly as weak to toxins as irkens are (a multi-parasite organism got stabbed with garbage and that was a big contribution to it dying, an a single parasite got splashed with paint thinner and couldn't heal from the chemical burns)
