Obligatory Sinfest post.
Came across an interesting theory on the Tvtropes forum while lurking, stating that Tats supposedly had a daughter.
The forum user hypothesized that she learned Webcomics with her father to the point of mimicking his style perfectly. However Tats died of illness or an accident and she continued the Fest unknowingly of anyone. But shortly after she started, she got into radfem stuff and it spilled over (euphemism ahoy!) and Sinfest remained changed forever.

And then the thread derailed

that sounds like some hardcore bullshit.

Of course it is, the man clearly just got insane.

Achewood. Easily one of the best webcomics. Went on for a decade. Died because the author was depressed and failed to deliver on book orders for fans. Damn shame because his in-character cookbooks were fucking great. The guy was going through a divorce at the time, and his wife was the one who ran all his sale stuff. He tried to get it to resurface a few times, even pitching a cartoon series features Artie the Strongest Man in the World as one of the voices, but it never really worked out.
Isaac Ortiz
Nana's Everyday Life. Same author actually, just that one got an actual ending.
Adrian Green
The most overrated piece of shit comic of all time.
Julian Clark
Pictures for Sad Children. Again, great fucking comic, and died because the author was depressed and failed to make good on book orders -- when he made the Kickstarter for his book, he underestimated how much it would cost to print the books and put dead wasps wrapped in plastic in them, and was paying out of pocket to ship them. He made a joke post on his Kickstarter about faking having depression and how tiring it was being fake sad all the time. A lot of people who donated to him didn't get the joke, and I think that was the real final nail, because he pulled down his website and all the comics from the internet, and burnt the remaining unshipped copies. I think all that's left online is whatever fans saved of the comics.
Caleb Bailey
Doobl! This was a Christian webcomic with a lot corny "jokes." The comic went on for a few months, attracting haters from websites of the time (like somethingawful and the Penny Arcade forums). The comic took a dark turn when the author's mom died, his sister was trying to take all of the money left behind by their mom, and then he started getting accused of some kind of sexual misconduct (with the cops getting involved). While this was going on, the main character in the comic started cursing, and then raped one of the characters, before going on a killing spree where he violently murders all the characters before killing himself. The comic ends with a news clipping of the author's suicide. Of course, it was all fake, but that's not to say it didn't have people going for a while.
William Butler
>Ray was voiced by Artie
Wow, I didn't know that. That's pretty cool.
Philippe was voiced by Ling-Ling
Mason King
Honestly, I fully expected that one of the Big 3 consoles would have died by now, and that the fanboys characters would have essentially outlived their purpose.
It never even occurred to me that the comic would die first.
Daniel Richardson
Why couldn't Willis just focus on sci-fi instead of trying to do college drama

Is there an anglo thing in don't get with your interpretation of society? How is it not implicit? How do you not be part of society? Even if you go live in a cave, you are human and part of its society.

There once was a comic called Krazy Kat which hat a sarcastic green cat with a forehead scar for main character. Unfortunately there's no trace left on the internet. I miss it.

Just read all of it (There isn't much) and it's hard to believe anyone ever fell for it.
>Even if you go live in a cave, you are human and part of its society.
Nnnnno. If you do not take part in society, well, you are not part of it.
Nicholas Fisher
It's not dead, it's just always had a lethargic upload schedule. New shit pops in every now and again.
Luke Cox
>2019, and it's still happening
not exactly.
It's Walky ended in 2005 and had a direct sequel with Joyce & Walky which continued until 2015 (with the final storyline being finished infrequently over a couple of years). It also had a spinoff called Shortpacked which started in 2005 and ended regular updates in 2015 with occasional one-off strips since.
His current projects are Dumbing of Age which is a reboot of his previous comicverse set in college again and a reupload of the main Walkyverse comic (Roomies, IW and currently J&W)
Austin Garcia
Also I should note that Dumbing of Age started in 2010 and is still going
Eli Watson
Did you read the news too. Helps a bit with the immersion.
Benjamin Garcia
I did.
Blake Cook
Still alive, albeit on Patreon...
Mason Wood
Slow Wave. Has Reklaw published anything at all after he ended this comic? I never even heard why he ended it, although I assumed it had something to do with the experiment in the final strips being unpopular.
Jack Powell
Miss it
Adam Bailey
It's been going for a decade and less than 2 months have passed in-universe.
Anthony Martin
indeed.
Willis has himself stated that the comic will never progress past 1 year in-universe
Brandon Perry
When it first started getting linked on websites, it was still in the cute an innocent stage, and stayed there for a while before taking a dark turn. So you had people who thought it was a legit comic by some Christian dude because, at that point, there was no indication it wasn’t. Once hooked in, the comic took a dark turn, with his blog posts giving reasonable excuse why it was. By the end, I think most people realized it was a hoax. The article isn’t really well photoshopped. But for a time, yes, people fell for it.

Socialists pay their taxes, though and are ready to pay more. They just want it to be a group effort or it will be meaningless.
Camden Garcia
Curious about a couple old webcomics whose titles I can't remember, see if they ring any bells here.
There was an adventure comic that started out in earnest, but eventually the creator realized how cheesy it was, so he just started doing as many cliches as possible. There was a story arc where the hero gets stuck on an island where he makes friends with dinosaurs; he eventually rebuilds his ship or whatever, and there's a really cheesy, sappy scene where the dinos are all sad to see him go.
And I asked about this one a while ago: some webcomic with a fairly cute art style, about a dumb teen girl who has a brother. There was a memorable joke where she says in a chat "ew, my brother used the keyboard and now the keys are all sticky." Someone asks to see her licking the keyboard, she goes "I don't see why not," then her brother walks in as she does it, and she doesn't understand why he's disturbed about it.
I'm mostly curious if the rest of the comic had that same twisted sense of humor.
There was also a thread here a while ago where some user was asking if anything had been archived from "Museum of the Wierd" by Julian Marcel. It looked like a fun comic, so I'd second that interest.

It wasn't very good either.
Shortpacked was his only good comic until Lucy appeared and then the bad sci fi returned with lesbian drama.

Luke Baker
>Shortpacked was his only good comic
no
Xavier James
>text based
Apparently his wrist was starting to hurt, so he tried to switch to illustrated prose while drawing fights in full. This backfired tremendously and now the comic hasn't updated in a year.
Nolan Ward

Holy fuck. I remember thinking the creator was dead for years after he just kinda disappeared after his Christmas 2013 comic.

Last I checked, he was posting all pages on DA, did that change? I know something happened after that drama that caused him to lose his webhost he's had since the 2000's, but I haven't followed much since then.
I'm the guy who storytimed selected bits of Jack on /trash/ a while back.
Dylan Garcia
Really? At the time he said it was because he decided he didn't really like art like the thought he did, and wanted to get into writing instead? When did the story change?
A few that have gone:
Cheap Thrills(been rebooted with really badly drawn human characters, nothing to do with original plotline or characters)
By The Saints(revolutionary war era black and white, last I heard the writer/artist was working on some major construction project and was hoping to have more time to work on the comic, that was years and years ago)
Alexander Torres
>sans and papyrus will always be more remembered than the webcomic that their name-font-skeleton gimmick was lifted from
big ouchie
Eli Watson
Rereading the announcement, he never stated why he was making the change. I think I got them mixxed up with Paranatural's author.
>poppy-opossum.com
But yeah, shortly after that updates slowed down to a crawl until they finally stopped altogether. I've heard some anons saying he was quite insecure about his writing and refused to listen to criticism, such as the fact that writing a scene may take much longer than just drawing it and his decision to illustrate the fights was contraproductive. Last update was in november.
Caleb Walker

Really? Same artist who drew anime-style scribbles and never bothered to listen to any criticism of his art is also a writer who can't take criticism of his high-school level prose? Color me surprised.
Noah Adams
>anime-style
I'm sorry what. I believe Poppy is as far away from anime as you can get.
Camden Lewis
>I believe Poppy is as far away from anime as you can get.
Nigger, are you fucking joking? Did you forget the fight scenes? You see everyone talking with eyes closed? That's practically Mary's default look. Hell, chapter six page 5, look at the upper left hand corner and try to tell me again it wasn't cribbed anime style.
Henry Clark
user, that just sounds like you hate anything remotely influenced by Japan. The sooner you accept the glorious nippon as your superior the better it will be for you.
Oliver Jones
That kid looks to be about 8. It's time to let that chip go you ass.
Brayden Myers
Why is the iron in the kitchen?
Isaac Walker
I watch anime dumbass. I just know anime is popular with hack artists since it requires far less effort than most art styles. Like Morbi. I called it years ago, but everyone was sucking Morbi's dick because "Muh muscle mom waifu!"
Cameron Mitchell
user, stop it, my face hurst from laughing. You wouldn't even be calling it anime if you knew anything about it, only newfags do that. Japan has us beat in comics since before the 80s or so, you can like comics all you want, but that a pretty well known fact at this point.
Kevin Powell
You're really trying hard to start a east vs west shitfest in a dead webcomic thead? Go be a faggot elsewhere.
Eli Thompson
Bitch you brought it up. Make your bed then lie on it.
Liam Flores
Quit playing dumb, the posts are still there and can be read by anyone.
>Poppy is anime-style
>NO IT'S NOT, IT'S THE EXACT OPPOSITE!
>look at it
>WHAT, YOU HATE ANIME?!
>no I watch anime
>LOL YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT UR TALKIN BOUT ANIME IS WAY BETTER
First you say it wasn't, then you tried to argue anime is better anyways. Quit trying to change the argument to one you would prefer to have.
Nolan Walker
>a buff guy wearing gym gloves unironically
Absolutely fake and cringe. Only DYEL weebs and LARPers wear gloves to the gym (including and especially skinnyfat martial autists)
Jackson Jackson
>tf2 the best TF2 comic wasn't even an actual TF2 comic
>tfw the guys behind this make way less than Valve but still managed to finish it
Thomas Kelly
Woof I'm a gay retard, meant to reply to
Justin Myers
It really does read like "Author's first and last visit to a gym, he wore the cool gloves and grunted a lot, but no one seemed impressed. Instead they just picked on him for sending the 10lb weights flying to the ground after 10 reps, since the gym doesn't want their equipment getting damaged."
Jonathan Stewart
>UGH LOOK AT THIS ANIME STYLE
>That's a literal possum
>BUT LOOK AT THOSE FIGHTS AND HOW THE TALK WITH THEIR EYES CLOSED SO ANIME
>That's called influence and is in no way directly related to anime
>UGH BUT ANIME STYLEtm REQUIRES MUCH LESS EFFORT THAN REGULAR ART WHY CANT ANYONE SEE HOW IM RIGHT
>Your hate boner non-withstanding, you'd do well to follow your so called 'anime style' as it's successful for a reason, newfag.
>UGH WEST VS EAST BS
Seethe harder. I bet you think Grant Morrison makes good comics.
Ryan Kelly
>point out Morbi uses lazy anime-style
>UGH, YOUR SAYING ALL ANIME SUCKS!!!
If I hate anime so much, why would I watch it you double retard?
Ryan Edwards
>anime style
user, it looks nothing like anime. It having a few common tropes does not make even close to anime. You honestly should probably watch more anime if you can't tell the difference.
Aiden Rodriguez
Someone make an edit where last panel is the socialist with an AK47 rounding up landlords against the wall during October Revolution

Gastrophobia's been dead for over a year now. The most recent changes to the site were the author find-and-replacing their name and pronouns after going full gendercrazy.
Adrian Sanders
Anybody remember City of Reality? The websiite is back but ot just seems like the author is just drawing rule 63. cityofreality.com
Benjamin Ramirez
I remember it, and I remember ics' gender-bending/transformation/bodyhorror comics too.
I didn't know something happened to the City of Reality site and its archives at some point, though.
Jackson Ward
>So is this funny for the americans?
For that curious type of libertarian right-winger whose ideal world is presumably something like 'Blade Runner' and whatever Earth looks like in the 'Alien' franchise.
I feel like doing that again. He may still post the pages on DA and FA, haven't been in a while.
There has never been a comic called 'The parking lot is full'
Lucas Butler
What was that one webcomic about funky animals (some looked like dogs, or like salamanders, but others like nothing I know of) in a kinda ancient Rome setting and is it still dead?
Jace Rogers
Vattu?
Jaxson Garcia
It's stuff like that that leads a man to create a homunculus to obtain an iron by any means necessary.
I vaguely remember that one comic with the big-ass sphinx who just walked around among people and casually ate them alive, making comments about the folly of humanity...
DC actually did a shout-out to it when it featured that exact sphinx in, I want to say a Justice League comic where Mr.Terrific was confronted by her, and after she laid down the law he calmly explained to her his T-spheres (baseball-sized, hovering metal drone units) could simply fly through her at mach 3 if he wanted.
Levi Thomas
Yeah, Vattu.
Cheers.
Wyatt Hughes
Was the comic called subnormality?
Daniel Campbell
Trivia is cute! CUTE!
Also Gastro grew into a cute shota. Fitting for an ancient Greek setting.
